*SueHut Birthday Grampians Glamping Tour #12*I may not have approached... or departed... this cache in the appropriate way. Much skin was left behind on tea tree to and from! Thanks heaps for the cache!
We were aiming for Dairy Creek #1 but after overshooting this, and driving past without being able to reverse or turn back due to the one way direction of the road, we needed to loop the loop and try again but we got distracted at the Sundial Car Park to go and get Lake View on or next lap around.Having done that cache very successfully we thought it wasnt too far to do a bit of walking from from there to this cache.. plan hatched and dispatched! It all went well until the last 30 odd m (a track actually goes right past this cache.)Thats when the fun began. Though we did a very good job of avoiding the thorns and came away unscathed. The co ords were spot on which led to a quick and relatively easy find. Thanks for a bit of an adventure today and of course, the cache., which is in great shape.TFTC
Staying in Halls Gap, we decided to walk to The Pinnacles. We took the short, steep route there and the longer, more gentle route back. This cache was a short detour off the main path when heading back, so we ventured in and eventually found it. The log is dry and the cache is in good condition.
Found while spending a few days in the area. Made things a lot harder than I needed to.TFTC
Find # 12968
A day over in the Grampians. Plan was Pinnacle and Sundial lookout then see what happens after that.... boy I went a lot further and got a lot more than I had planned, must have been the coffees I was having.
From the Pinnacle I detoured to this one. Like others I was greeted with a wall of prickles and thick scrub..... well time to push through.... thankfully only a couple of scratches that drew blood.
At GZ the GPSr was doing circles, but logic was the finder here.... OK now to get out. Well I took a different route.... ended up in more of the same but it was a shorter stretch to the main track.

Great little peak thank you. Final cache of a big loop from halls gap to sundial and back
Today we did a 7hr, 16.5km round walk from our accommodation to the Pinnacle. What a great day we had. It was very scrubby to start for this one, so none of my friends joined me, but found easily as coordinates were spot on. Cache in good condition. Tftc
A quick and easy find once at GZ, access was somewhat more difficult, but we got there in the end. Thanks for the cache C@H
Great day for a walk to the Pinnacle, and donaldboy and I diverted here for a microadventure on the way down. The emergency access trail led us close to GZ - we climbed up and over the rocks, and eventually found it close to where we came in. Thanks C@H for the fun
Glorious winters day for a wander in the Grampians..fine views from the Pinnacle and then on the way back some caching with new Bruce.. his phone held up better than mine and after a bit of a search he was successful..cache and log in excellent condition tftc
Really cool spot.. on the opposite side of the cache there is a particular rock that is balancing really fun to stand on
Had an attempt at this one. But unable to find a suitable track in. Maybe next time
After the pinnacle I thought give this one a go. I got as close as the gps telling me 88 meter. Looking at impenetrable bush with sharp pointy things. I hate those bushes! Hmm 88 meters think I give it a miss. So a dnf
This was a bit more fun than I was expecting! Love a bush bash and the wet flora was refreshing on the legs. Got to GZ and tried my hardest to get to the very top. Almost got there and thought this is way too dodgy. Crawled through a cave, descended a couple of levels and then found the cache in a much safer spot! TFTC!

Today we spent the whole day walking in this beautiful area. Although the weather could have been better, we decided to do the Wonderland trail. Spectacular scenery! From Halls Gap we walked all the way up via the car park and the Grand Canyon up to the Pinnacle.
After this we decided to try to reach this box. At least, at our GPS it seemed to be in the middle of Nowhere. And that's exactly, where it is Nevertheless, we could manage to get to the place - TFTC

Ehhhhmm... I think we approached from the wrong side, through a lot of bush and thorny bramble. Be we got there in the end and loved climbing on the rocks. Tftc
Found with cachemeousside87, bit of a scramble over the rocks which is always fun, made it to the Pinnacles for the gorgeous view and were very lucky we just missed the rain! Thanks for placing this cache!
Today after we had spent the night in our camper in the area, we decided to go for the Pinnacle trail, the weather was overcast and the higher we got the more rain and a cold strong wind came up. So we could not really enjoy the normally so beautiful views, and we came soaked back to the camper. Nevertheless it was definitely worth it and we thought it was a nice day.
Thanks for the cache and greetings from the Netherlands

Found by MrT on a walk to The Pinnacle. A bit of a scramble through spikey scrub, and eventually had cache in hand. Signed log and returned as found. TFTC
We've come to Halls Gap with friends for the weekend and decided to do the Pinnacle walk today. We made it to the Pinnacle lookout and then the rest of the gang decided to take the shorter route back. I was keen to grab this cache so I took the extended path.
I came close to the cache and then misread the description so wandered along the path to the other side only to find I was over 150m from GZ instead of the original 75m so back I went. I'm not keen on forging my way through the bush by myself any more than I have to but there was an acceptable path so I eventually reached GZ, signed the log and made my way back to the path.
After that I decided to catch up to the rest of the gang so I practiced my trail running until I finally rejoined the group just as they reached the end of the loop.
Thanks for encouraging me to take the longer path today.

Great location along the alternative route back to the car park. A bit of bush bashing required, but nothing too serious. Paused for a while, enjoyed the peace and quiet and then continued wandering through this rock wonderland. Many TFTC!
This year, for the second time of my life, I travelled on holiday to Australia. The last tour has been in 1995, but this time something was a little different. For the first time I didn’t travel in a group, this was my first tour, were I was totally alone. I had booked the flights to Brisbane and from Adelaide and for the three weeks in between I rented a very small campervan, in which I could sleep and was able to do a little cooking. For me, this was enough.
In three weeks I was able to drive more than 5000 kilometres and could find around 90 caches, including all of the Australian caches from 2000. To finish the Jasmer Challenge was the other thing I wanted to do. There was only one month open and this was October 2000. With two different caches from this month in the country I could finish the challenge and in the end I visited them both. The best thing is: I didn’t need a cache of the USA to complete my Jasmer.
----------
After visiting the Pinnacle I decided to go for this cache and make a circle towards the south. But on the path I found out that after reaching a certain distance I couldn’t get nearer, because the path was leading into a different direction. So I had to search for another approach. I found it and came very close to the coordinates. But then I made an error and searched at a place with higher T-Rating. Obviously there was nothing to find. Looking at other places a little bit more away from the coordinates, I finally could find the box. Later I used the same path for going back, by walking into the opposite direction I would have spared myself some way.

Erin1405 and I did a round trip from Alice Springs down South along the coast and ended up in Sydney. We had a marvellous time on this amazing continent viewing a lot of new and beautiful impressions. Of course we searced and found some caches just like that one. Thanks a lot for hiding and many greetings from Germany.
I found this cache together with B.F.Pierce during our wonderful vacation in Australia. We drove four weeks with a camper van through this amazing country from Alice Springs to Sydney. We enjoyed the great people, wildlife and countryside so much. Thank you for the great cache! Best regards from Germany!
After having visited the Pinnacles we decided to take the alternative track back to the Wonderland car park. What a great idea. We did not only find this nice cache but we also discovered a lovely walk. Thank you very much for this cache and greetings from Swiss geocachers.
If You get the chance to Come here, Bring some snacks and enjoy the views. The more adventurous can climb up to the tops Of the rocks and take a selfie. Tftc
So glad we decided to take this track!!! Great little detour!!!! Loved climbing up the rocks... damn prickles made it take longer to get to GZ!!!!
Looked for this one after visiting the Pinnacle via the Grand Canyon. Like previous logs we found ourselves 70 m from the GZ with very thick scrub in the way. Decided to do what another previous log suggested and keep going clockwise on this circuit then when we were back to about 170 m we spotted a way in, although technically not an emergency, we took this track anyway. This meant just a short scramble through the shrubbery when we were much closer - around 30 metres, before scaling to where we found the cache hidden. Quick easy way out he way we came to continue the loop. TFTC
Well after an enjoyable hike along the path to as near to GZ as possible and bush whacking the final 70ish metres (found what appeared to be a local fauna track to follow) I came upon GZ, quick hope you the last metre and 2 obvious spots to check, I had cache in hand and the log filled out in no time. Now for the grueling bush whack back to where I left my missus.
Tftc. What a great little spot. My 2nd Gramps find after getting up to the Pinnacle just after sunrise, b4 anyone else rolled up at the Wonderland car park. Superb day today with magic views.
It was only a tempting 70 meters of the track, couldn't resist, but regretted it as soon as I was 10 meters in. Long sleeves and long pants are defenitely the way to go here. Came out a little scratched, but the find itself was good and quick.

Great find and very well hidden. Found with browny39 and the extended family at Easter.
22.01.2018 The Pinneacle is certainly worth the sweat on this hot day in the Grampians. So is this cache though it took some additional sweat to actually find it since I usually respect restrictions. But finding this cache finally became a matter of emergency to me. TFTC
We came here a couple of years ago and walked the Pinnacle and talked about getting this one. We were a bit green with geocaching and hesitant to attempt it. This time we were not leaving without a smilie. Got as close as 78m... Took our backpacks off and said to the kids "were going thru there" pointing to the thick scrub. Whilst the kids were begging for mercy not to go in there GeowifeE read the cache description a bit better and we heeded the CO advise to enter fron the other way. Even at this stage or feet and legs were killing us. GeogirlJ stormed off grunting something along the lines of " stupid geocaching". We kept walking till we got to 170m and realised this was our entry point. The SPOR and an old path let us know we were headed in the right direction. geogirlJ in the meantime We got to 30m and saw a likely GZ... through the scrub... the scrub being nasty prickly type of scrub. Geoboy10 went through one wall of pickles and grumpily declared this was his limit. Us two Geowives pressed on. A few more prickles later we had the log signed.
Nearly gave up on this one but I'm glad we persevered. So beautiful! Our suggestion- take the emergency trail from the wonderland track..
Left a little something for the next person too! TFTC

I got as close as 78m from the cache but could not find the track that leads to the cache itself. I could see the rock formations in question thou but couldn’t get closer to them.
Found with Arrow15 on our annual pilgrimage to Halls Gap over the Sept school hols
A beautiful day for a climb to the pinnacle with the boys. While having lunch, I checked to see if there were any caches in the area. With one not too far away, I gathered the troops and off we went. The challenging location made it even more enjoyable for the boys who loved scrambling over the rocks. TFTC
We found it after a big scramble, 2nd most inaccessible cache ive done out of 170 finds. I really liked it, thanks

Find # 530
Out doing the Pinnacle with friends & I took a detour from the group for this one.
Great co-ords led me straight to it, but not without my fair share of scratches.
Picked up the TB and visited some others (left them in the car... whoops).
Thanks for the adventure...

Today was my only full day in the Grampians, but unfortunately, it was raining on and off. It was usually fine when I started my walk, and then started raining when it was too late to turn back. I managed to get here from the Sundial carpark without any rain, and then found my way up the structure. Once near GZ, the cache was quickly located, signed and returned. Then off to the Pinnacles.
My thanks to C@H for the cache.

Wow this cache was sure hard to get to!!! Ended up bush bashing for about 30m before turning back to leave. However, I ended up finding the right path to the cache! Was very pleased to have put my name in the log, a lot of effort went into reaching this cache. And then had to come all the way back, praying that there weren't any snakes. Made it back in one piece but legs covered in scratches!! Visiting a trackable also. Tftc!!!
what a great hide. We had a fun hunt looking for this cache with dodgy phone gps. Left behind a trackable #84TABN

Was heading across to Sundial on the other track but this was too close not to take a quick detour! Found a likely entry point from the main track and headed into the bush - and a solid wall of prickly tea-tree Forged my way ahead with sleeves rolled down and arms around me head thinking how easy it would be to get lost in this stuff - just as my trusty gps chirped a low battery warning - seriously! Picked up the pace with images of no gps and surrounded by a solid barrier of prickles on every side Made it to gz for a quick find and a fast appreciative look at a great spot before hightailing it outta there before the battery died
Hard to get there. But I was very lucy. When I came to the coordinates I just looked down and there was the cache.

Found on the way back from the Pinnacle via the wonderland carpark loop. We have no idea where the intended track was so we ended up scrub bashing through 60m worth of over-head-height prickly tea tree. Found the cache easily enough whilst nursing a few stinging arm. Took nothing left nothing. Thanks for the find
We rocked and rolled around on top of these awesome formations looking for the thing that bought us here after finding a few scorpions we finally came across what we were after.

During our holidays spent in Australia we decided to look for some caches during our short road trip from Melbourne via Great Ocean Road to Grampians and back again This cache was a tough one - we spent there dozens of minutes by searching of a way to reach it. We were totally scratched and lost inside the bush, bitten by ants ... but finally we found it. Tough one - for us it was at least T4. Greetings from Czech Republic. TFTC!

Today a large group of bushwalkers (because bushwalkers are crazy people!) decided to walk to the Pinnacle from Wonderland carpark wearing pyjamas and carrying teddy-bears. On the way back, I raced on ahead of the group, and dived into the bush to find this cache. Lucky the long PJs were a little bit prickle-proof! A tricky hide and I think I was a bit lucky to find it fairly quickly (... of course my teddy-bear was helping!) I was able to catch up with the tail end of my crowd, and I think I deserved the ice-cream in Halls Gap later... Thanks for the adventure.
After visiting the pinnacle and on our way back to the sundial carpark we veered off to get this one. It was a warm day and shorts were being worn, but that did not deter us as we picked our way through prickly bushes and then finally we were there. A quick survey of the area and the cache was soon in hand.
Was a good walk back up from the main track to find this one. Loving our trip the the Grampians tftc
No luck. Two sets of eyes but this one eluded us. In the end we ran out of time. Prickly bushes a big turn off
This cache was hard work. We thought we'd grab the cache on the return loop from The Pinnacle back to Sundial car park, but once we visited The Pinnacle we couldn't find the right track down, so we trecked back to the junction then up this track. Then we walked a few hundred metres past the closest entry point to GZ so had to back track to within about 80m then went bush bashing towards GZ. Up and down and round and round the rocks we went until the cache was spotted. Then we had to find the way back to the track... TFTC.
**this is a late log** I have recently made a major upgrade to my GSAK license and found this lovely feature that automatically tells me what caches I have marked found in GSAK but never logged on geocaching.com!! Yay, Clyde, you can have my money anytime! The caches I am logging in this batch were ones I found during VIC Mega events and possibly a few random ones I forgot during other trips into Mexico. In an interest to get completely caught up, I am logging my past finds in bulk. I still have work to do after this, as I need to locate my notes from all of my earthcaches, but once those are in, I should be very close to current. I appreciate all the effort you go through to create and place your hides and do not for one second take it for granted, I just need to get caught up so I can return to my once pleasant logs. Cheers!
On our trip from Melbourne to Adelaide we drove to the Grampians and visited them.

Found it! I had walked up the the Pinnacle from Halls Gap and met Muggle Janette at the top. After collecting the necessary information to log the Earth Cache as my 1000th find we made a quick detour to find this cache in celebration. I thought this one was going to be difficult to find amongst some many rocks however the GPS reading was accurate and hint very helpful and the cache was soon in hand. I heard someone talking about looking for this cache at the Pinnacle but did not see a log for today so I guess they did not find it. TFTC SL 1001#
Today we did a great hike, starting from our camp grond near Lake Bellfield. We passed Sundial Peak and several other beautiful look outs before arriving at the Pinnacles.
There we found this cache. It was a difficult one, especially because the track to the cache was fully overgrown. We wondered if making your own track is suitable in a National Park.

On a camping caching trip with Timmo98 and enjoyed the awesome walk and views at Pinnacle.
After we did the walk, we walked past this path twice, then past the second path, then finally got to the cache after a little bashing at the end. Great views and a spot I doubt many would come to!
Thanks for the detour and showing us different section off the tourist route!

Geohubby and I are staying in Halls Gap for a few weeks and doing some hiking and caching while enjoying the natural environment.
Today was the brightest, sunniest day we have experienced since arriving here four and a half weeks ago so the wonderland loop seemed like a great choice for todays exercise.
This was our third and final find for the day after walking from Halls Gap to the Pinnacle and then diverting to this one. We enjoyed seeing a less well known area of the ranges and being able to log another smiley. The cache is in good condition and I reckon highly unlikely to ever be muggled
Many thanks for bringing us to this lovely area C@H [^][^][^] A favourite point from us

The second day in the Grampians with The Morris.
We walked up the Pinnacle first and detoured to this cache on the way down.
Very glad I had long pants on - all the bushes were very sharp! Seemed to be a native holy bush.
We found the rock and climbed - nice spot.
We were sure we had seen this rock from the other track.
Thanks, Robmc.

Confucius say Man who wears shorts in prickles is a fool who shall be scarred for life. Confucius also says Man who follows arrow may not find the best path. Great views but tread carefully. TFTC
Wow, every once in a while, you come across a cache that reminds you why you do this activity.
Coming back from the pinnacle, we saw we were within 100m, roughly north of the cache. We tried finding the faint path others have mentioned, but without luck. There was a very faint foot pad, but the bush soon became too thick (and prickly).
We continued on the main walking path and about 1 km later, we came across a very obvious marker pointing down a faint but more obvious path. I checked again and we were only a couple of hundred metres or so away! But this time, roughtly south of the cache.
The path eventually led us to the likely spot, judging from the cache the name, and again we were close, but the straightest path was not the right one! Once we had hopped around the back we finally made it to the GZ and then soon had the cache in hand. TNLN
Moral of the story: sometimes the shortest route ain't the best one! Favorite point for this cache! TFTC

GH took a detour on the return trip to find this cache as we had taken the path from sundial car park. He said beware of the prickly track.
This was a nice quick find today while walking through the Grampians. I found it easy to get to the GZ but went a slightly different way back to the track which was a bit more prickly. It is a great spot to be shown. TFTC.
Walked on from the Pinnacle with my youngest to find this one. Nice placement well out of view of the rest of the population. Cache in great condition and after climbing a small rock face it was a fast find TFTC SL
We did the walk to the Pinnacle with Viipu from the Wonderland car park. As suggested in the cache description, we deviated from the most popular route to walk this little path counterclockwise. As it turned out, it was an extremely good idea. Not long to the forest that started after the crossroad we met an echidna right next to the path. Later on we climbed a bit higher to the rocks to have a little break where the path makes a 180 degree turn and were totally blown away by the scenery.
Once we reached the part of the path where we got the smallest distance to this cache we spent a little while guessing the best route towards ground zero. In the end we found a way that could be called a decent one but only compared to the alternatives. Once reaching GZ, finding the cache fortunately was relatively easy, but I must say it doesn't surprise me there's so few finders here given the amount of bush-bashing required...
Thanks for the cache!

What a way and place to spend the Christmas!
We had arrived to Australia three days earlier with Giliad and made our way from Adelaide to Grampians. The main reason for coming this far from home was the incredible nature in Australia, and Grampians certainly had that to offer!
While walking the nature paths to Pinnacle, we decided to take the route leading to this cache. And I'm glad we did since otherwise we wouldn't have seen the foresty area that well. We really enjoyed walking among the trees, and were lucky enough to spot an echidna in the bushes!
I have to state that the cache was a little bit weirdly located... There would have been great spots for a cache closer to the path with no need to tear oneself to the spiky vegetation. But despite the scratches we were really pleased to be able to find a cache here since it was the motivation for us to take the longer route. So thanks for the cache and greetings from Finland!

I was a little concerned that I may miss this cache as did not want to walk much further round to find the trail.
Then I remembered I passed the path entry.
Back I went to within 100m of GZ.
Then the fun began at first it was not the best route to enter with shorts.
I finally found a better route and was soon at GZ.
Well so I thought till I climbed and realised I still had a few metres to go.
Then I soon spotted the cache and was signing the log.
