I had looked for this one ages ago, when it was missing. I finally got around to revisiting this particular track. Lots of stumbling around in the wet scrub, avoiding fallen branches and holes and rocks and eventually finding it. A nice one to tick off. TFTC Smile

05-Apr-24
Nothing at the base of the burnt stump

27-Jan-24
Got up to within 20 feet of the cache but we were harassed by a very persistent horse fly or some similar Australian bug. Had to give up after a few painful bites.

15-Nov-23
Nice cache to finish a little caching route

22-Oct-23
Another easy find, thank you

22-Oct-23
Slippery in the wet! Found it! TFTC

18-Apr-23
Hard terrain. Any clues would be welcome. We shall try again next week

11-Apr-23
Thanks ahomburg. After some stuffing aroumd in the regrowth (if only my head did the same...) we had the cache in hand. I've lost count of the number of times I've run past this... Giddy up

14-Jan-23
But if bush bashing but it was in the second place I looked.
Legs are a bit scratched up now but got it signed.

08-Jan-23
Geokid found a promising caching track, so we stumbled up it with Kezzza. Turns out no cache at our chosen GZ. No matter, a bush bash through scrub and over tumbled logs soon got us to the real GZ, only 15 or so metres away!

Find #2/7 with Fitzelfleas, after a fun day caching yesterday. I suspect we passed expedrory on the their way back, after briefly informing us of the steep climb to come. Geotrail wasn’t right, but got there in the end. TFTC

07-Jan-23
After a bit of bumbling around and balancing on logs, found it at second choice. On tip toes avoiding anything I don’t want to disturb!! TFTC

Out with James0116 today and after a DNF for the final of the Minecraft series we stopped to search for a few other caches. A short uphill climb to GZ and a quickish find - but of course I initially picked the wrong stop but I eventually had the cache as well as black hands! Thanks to ahomburg for the cache.

*Found on the 25 Sep 2022 @ 12:58 pm.*
*Cache find # 13346.*

Last time I was in this area, it was fairly obvious that this one was missing so I didn’t venture up the hill for a look.
Today I was back over this way and I noticed that this one had been replaced so I made a detour and headed to this one next.
I made my way up the hill to GZ and made my way to where the coordinates indicated I should be but after having a look at the object indicated in the hint, I found nothing, I looked around and headed to another one a bit further away and there the cache was.

**Thanks to ahomburg for placing this cache.**

25-Sep-22
On a walk in Doongalla with my partner, and there was a few caches this side of the mountain I had yet to find. This was one of them, so after our main part of the walk, we headed down the road and then up this track. Headed off the path towards a possible hide location, turns out it was the second spot.
SteMicMitSar found it same day, just a few hours earlier.

31-Aug-22
Out on my own today trying to clear out some more of the DM series. No one on the track today but water water everywhere. Easy walk and short walk up to check out a few choices to check. Cache in excellent condtion. Thanks for the cache ahomburg. Another one down.

03-May-22
I had a couple of hours this afternoon to go hiking in the hills and find a few caches as a birthday treat to myself.
This was my first find, after a short hike uphill
Not quite located as the hint suggested, but a little higher.
In good condition.

Thanks anyway ahomburg. I’ll keep a watch on this one.

08-Jun-20
Out on my own today with my goal clear out some more in the amazing Dandenongs. This another part of the area that I have been to. I have to agree with previous logger. Looks like a landside has happened here. Checked around for extend way to see if I could locate container but could not. Have report to owner Thanks for the cache ahomburg

06-Jun-20
Looked and looked.
A recent mud slide and tree slide may have changed the area somewhat.
Ended up as black as coal ferreting through the remains. Ha.
No luck today. Will put on a watch list.

11-Mar-20

A beautiful afternoon to get out for a walk in the hills and collect a few more of this great series. I have almost done all of the ones west of the tourist road and will soon turn my gaze towards the east - especially all the puzzle caches. This was a quick find thanks to the generous hint, but my legs are getting tired walking up this hill! TFTC!

28-Jan-19
Great walk , thanks

Although it was a beautiful day for caching I could only slip away briefly as the chores around the house had built up and I couldn't put them off any longer. I happened to be in the area so I took a slight detour to at least grab a few caches.

As I made my way up the track there was a runner going down it...some people have way too much energy!! A quick find at the GZ. I dropped off a TB. TFTC.

Found on 20 March 2018 at 4:38:04 pm. Find #2580. A massive downhill track from the direction i have taken to get the other on way down. So not looking forward to the massive uphil climb.
This was a good little hide though. Container broken but i have a new one on board so nice fresh new container now.
Thanks for the adventure.

Great morning out with younger son, putting some miles in our legs and some smiles on the map. This was one for dad to get, container needs replacing but we had no spares with us. TFTC and the walk.

Find #1018
Another cache, another hill. Another chance to work out why on earth my legs are so sore from the little walking I have done... unless that is the problem. Almost took a tumble on my way up to this one - possibly not the smartest thing to do given I was doing a training walk. The cache again was easy enough to find though I did scare a wallaby who was nearby... oops. TFTC!

Fitbit had deemed this Goal Day 2016, so I used that as an incentive to pick an area that I'd been meaning to get back to, and skirted around, for the past 2 1/2 years. In the meantime, the Dandenongs Meander series has doubled in size to an even 100. The section directly below the antennae was where I'd begun the series, and I was keen to clear the last outstanding caches from the original fifty (except #2, which had been muggled when I logged its companions, and is currently offline due to this year's controlled burns).

Back down on the trails after some seriously steep gradients, the rest of today's caches were along the "easier" parts of the trail system. This one was a little way back along Dodds Track from where I joined it, and was a quick find before I headed back in the direction of the picnic grounds.

I think I had an early hunch where this might be (I may have glimpsed something faintly unusual from afar) and it proved to be correct. Thanks ahomburg!

03-Nov-15
Found at 15:29 hours, while doing a 15.5km bush walk with my mate Daniel. Having done this walk a few times already, it was nice to throw in a few caches to give it a new dimension. Didn't see any snakes, though did encounter a few leeches at GZ. No blood was shed on this occasion. Thanks for the cache!

Walking down the track from Up Hill Climb (and dreading the climb back up to return to the car later...) we stopped at this cache and somehow I got volunteered to climb up to retrieve it!... A quick find though for lochb, G' of GJMMelb and I, the cache is in good condition and quite safely hidden here. TFTC

12-Apr-15
Found in the company of GJMMelb and quiet1_au. G had already found this cache. A quick find. TFTC

20-Mar-15
Found reasonably quickly, once at GZ the likely hide stands out. Another one with big sis Hera in the log before me. Logged just before 11pm on homeward leg of tonights loop. TFTC

07-Feb-15
Decided to carry on to here after completing 'Up Hill Climb'. Classic DM cache - such a nice area to pause and go cache hunting. I was a little worried at first as the trackside has been recently slashed. But with the help of the hint I soon found the cache 10 - 15m SE of where the GPSr though GZ was. Now for the steep walk back up to Basin-Olinda Road.

17-Jan-15
With the countdown on till the gate being locked for the night, we raced up the track intent on locating this cache, considering one of our group is wearing a moon boot this was quite a feat. Quickly found the cache and with a bit of team work got the log signed, replaced and off we went. tftc

17-Jan-15
Its not far they said, as I limped up the rocky 4wd track. Too stubborn to give in, they waited to make the find just as I got there. Thanks for waiting guys and thanks for the cache ahomburg!

15-Jan-15
Find #1416 logged at GZ at 16:01, will update shortly.... T4TC ahomburg!

30-Dec-14
Rebel Acts and I caught up for an easterly caching run for the morning. This is one we found today. Thanks.

10-Sep-14
This one I found after grabbing a cache a little further up the track, I didn't notice the little little green box on my gps screen untill I zoomed in a little closer as it was slightly hidden under the writing, a nice easy find thanks ahomburg.

02-Jul-14
Parked near the track and took a short walk with the kids. Great hide - loved it.

20-Jun-14
off the track on the right a little Smile

11-Aug-13
Found @1335 #3074
This was the last cache in the northern section of the Meander cluster that I was yet to find having missed it on previous runs thru the area. Perfect weather today and a very peaceful and enjoyable walk to GZ. Doongalla Road was open so was able to drive to within 250m which was great as the hike around Mt Baw Baw yesterday was being felt today. Great area and terrain for caching. This also fills a day for the August "cache a day" challenge too.Razz
TFTC Ahomburg & the time taken to establish this epic series

11-Aug-13
Out and about with Muttley! for some exercise and caches. I really liked this area and will be back. I didn't realise how far in you can drive. TFTC

03-Aug-13
We found this cache today at 2:15pm as the 12th of 14 on our Dandenongs Meander Wander V. After lunch at the Mount Dandenong Bakery, we looked at the map of Dodds Track and thought that the best way was from the Basin Olinda Road, not realising that the track meets up to Doongalla Road down the bottom. This was even though we had found "Up Hill Climb", the old Kiwideb cache coming from the other way. However, this was over 9 years ago and only our 55th cache find. This error in judgement and extreme hill desent and after the find, climb, cost us two more cache finds later in the day as it took so long and so much energy to ge back up that we were fairly buggered after this one. Thanks from D & H B-A.

03-Jul-13
Our workout for the day is coming to a close. Now for the downhill (mainly) walk back to the car. A most enjoyable day's outing. Thanks for the series ahomburg.

28-May-13
Found on a meander around the Dandenongs. Today was dedicated to try and nab a few more of this series as well as laying down some groundwork for another cache of my own. Walked about 35kms today, found 17 caches.

After a descent down hill walk from the Basin-Olinda road I enjoyed walking along these tracks. The cache was found easily with the help of the clue. After the walk down the hill to do these caches in this area I had in the back of my mind that I would always have to make the walk back up to the car. In the end I did it, and it was a tough one too. Now, back home logging these cache I now notice that I had missed this cache's nearby neighbor that I had forgot to download to my GPSr. Now I will have to go back for this one too!

Thanks for this series Adrian, I really enjoy it!

12-May-13
Out for a meander around the slopes on a pleasant Sunday morning finds me at this location.
Getting used to the uphill slog so much that I almost walked right by this one, had to come back 20 meters for a quick grab. Now it's onward up the hill anyway for an Up Hill Climb.

21-Apr-13
A nice meander up a side track after a nice day walking to the summit from Doongala Homestead.
"Oh no...not another hill", mutter, mutter, mutter...

21-Apr-13
Following today's summit assault, it was time for the post-walk barbie - but not without a quick cache or two before being locked in for the evening Surprised.

I parked behind two familiar cars and sprinted Wink up the hill for the find with Alsume and Riddell at 15:10.

TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks ahomburg.

21-Apr-13
After walking up from Doongalla homestead to the summit earlier, we were heading to the BBQ outside the "4:00pm closing" gates, but had time to stop for one more short uphill walk to find this cache at 3:15pm. Now off to the BBQ.
TNLN
thanks ahomburg

24-Mar-13
Found it! I went on a reconnaissance trip today checking various tracks and facilities for some future Walkabouter's walks and I collected some caches along the way. As I have done a few of these Meander caches now, I had a good idea where to look, so found it straight away. Thanks Ahomburg for your caches along these tracks! SL cache is in good condition, Smile

30-Nov-12
ANother great location for a cache!

06-Nov-12
Thanks for placing these caches in the Dandenongs, I found 3 of them on a walk from Kalorma, by the transmission towers, to Doongalla and along the Fireline Track back to the car. I passed very close by to 2 of them but wanted to stay with the group at the first, and it was pouring rain at the second.

This one was easy to find going by the hint and logs, I didn't want to lag too far behind so I was aiming for as quick of a find as possible Smile Ate lunch in Doongalla and hit the trail again just before it started bucketing down.

22-Oct-12
Had a bit of a stroll around the D'nongs tonight, was a pleasent walk, startled a wombat, man they can run fast, saw a few roos and an owl. Smile
Great to get out of the house. TFTC

JMelb and MMelb were out this morning and GMelb was on holidays so GMelb used some holiday time to get another 6 of this series. Parked at the track intersection and walked a short distance. This time I largely ignored the GPS once I got close and looked for the obvious spot. Thanks ahomburg

26-Sep-12
Third of four meander caches for the day, may be I came in from the easy end of this track as it did not seem that steep at all, it seemed like no time at all and I was at the cache, I had to use the hint to find it, I found the coordinates were about 14m out I have taken a reading and attached it to my log, use at own risk. Thanks Adrian for the cache.

15-Sep-12
We were in this area a few months back - never mind, its a nice place to visit anyway.

07-Sep-12
OK so 2nd to find isn't so bad, bit of a climb but made it, and if I can make it anyone can whilst out and about this grey afternoon.

TFTC

07-Sep-12
There was a sense of déjà vu when we were walking up to this one because, and like the 'Scruffy One' before us noted in his charcoaled log, another cache "Up Hill Climb" is a bit further up-the-hill (and if you're really keen so is "Viola Power"! Wink).

Oh and I plucked the TB from the cache that 'Cousin It' left behind which I will move on soon.
