After today's orienteering near Collector, I took a long detour home via Gunning, Dalton and the Barton Highway. I spent a good half hour getting quite familiar with every nook and cranny but couldn't find the cache.
Gotcha ! On my caching expedition this month I added this one to my list of finds. Catching up on my logs for the month. TFTH. Had a sneaky suspicion and what do you know, instant glory and gratification.
Should have been more thorough at start! Long drive to the 'Gong' so chose this little town for a good distraction and break from drive. TFTC
Found -- 11:15:39 AM -- SL TFTH. Thanks for bringing us here to this location mr_roo. Cache(s) in good condition, found two continers.
Heading home after a few days in Gundaroo. Except for the cemetery cache I have now knocked off all the Gunning caches - completed with our little caravan in tow. Hubz and I came to this cache last year attempting to find it, but decided to keep this lovely one for when we had our youngin onboard whom we fondly call a 'bloodhound' - she finds caches without any information. This is probably our third gun type hide.

Had a caching day trip to Yass, Dalton and Gunning and back to Canberra via Gundaroo. Found many traditionals as well as some puzzles and multi caches. Many new and interesting places visited and roads driven. Thanks to all the wonderful CO's for bringing us to these amazing places.
Visiting the Canberra area from Brisbane and today decided to do a road trip from Canberra to Yass, Gunning and Dalton. The caches we attempted took us to many spots out in the countryside. Apologies for the generic comments, however due to the number of caches done over 5 days in Canberra, it would have taken me ages to do separate different comments for each one. It was a great day of caching and thank you to all CO's - well done.
Out and about in Gunning finally getting around to get a few more caches under the belt, when was spied by fellow cachers who said they were heading for the gun. Happily joined them and after a short time clambering over it, minniek found it. Fun finding it with fellow cachers, thanks minniek, DK and darkonas delights! TFTC
Was determined to find this one today. On the way through town, I spied another cacher in the act so invited her over to this one to help out. Didn't end up needing any as I found it in about 5 mins. Found with DK, darkonas delights and debrex.
After an extensive search with justjessie we found it in a less than likely position. Easy to see when you look from the right angle.
Found with 0319. TFTC! Took abit of finding

A wee stop on our way to Wyangala dam with the Stormcatchers. This was our third attempt on this (and our last if I have my way). The Stormcarchers who had previously found this cache couldn't find it again and they knew where they were looking. In future this will be a weeer wee stop.
**Mission Gundaroo, Gunning and Dalton**
I have been planning this trip for quite a while and it feel good to have done it. I started around 8am and finished around 5pm.
I really wanted to find this one but it's a DNF from me. I however did get a good look at the how the gun may of functioned but no cache this time. Thanks anyway Mr_Roo.

Was getting into a search when the gatekeeper for the footy arrived. Made a tactical retreat.
Only bumped my head once in this sneaky hide. Waste of a bumped head, wasn't really needed. TNLNSL TFTC
TFTC - definitely not as small as we thought ! Great camo and fun hide - darn cannons found with team Aprikot
Not always successful with these and so it proved today, even defeated 131 who has past experience with these things.
After searching for a wheelie long time we were about to give up when a lovely couple of muggles snuck up on us and joked that no matter how hard we tried we probably wouldn't get the gun to fire we explained we were on a treasure hunt but about to give up as it had us beat. "No!" They exclaimed "never give up, maybe two fresh eyes will help". So as we explained the game and what we thought we were looking for everyone looked a little then - bam! A bumped head caused the cache to rattle and my caching companion had it in hand! My hero! TFTC so satisfying to have this one smiling!
Be back later to sign it young muggles asking what I'm up to and too much muggle attention here so be back soon to fill it after Easter.
Ah ha! So that's where he was hiding! Geoboy made the find, but didn't I look there last time...? TFTC, Mr. Roo!
Whilst thetreewhisperer went to the gents, i stayed nehind with my geo mirror and found the sneaky hide. This is the type of time thst a mint tin is ok, as this cache is about the hunt not the container. Thanks very much for the hide mr_roo
We looked for this one last night in our way back from dinner at the pub, a great meal mind you. This cache got the better of us so in the morning Mr Sundowner snuck out to try and find it. After a little bit of looking we found him and he found the cache. Not as small as we thought.
This is a really clever hide - Out doing a few caches around Gunning with KAT. Determined to get through a few today. But my knees certainly hurt after having to get tot his one - Even with a few good clues it is not an easy find TNLS - Log signed - TFTC
I'm glad it wasn't me that had to crawl there and get it - lol ... Planned ride to Gunning with BAB to find as many caches as time would allow and we were not disappointed - There are plenty around the area - Thank you for bringing us here - Well worth a look - haven't been to this showground in over 30 years TNLS - Log signed - TFTC - Some great looking through the town itself and the antique shops and cafe's as well as some coldies at the local
We probably should use some sort of tool instead of whacking our fingers into unseen crevices but oh well here we go again. Cache all good. Thank you mr_roo.
I hate caches on machinery. I almost never find them. Had a good look all over but couldn't see it. so went off to look for another cache and had another look on the way back. This time with the help of a few previous logs, narrowed the search and eventually spotted it by looking at the right angle. Did the blind "grab of faith" and had the cache.
Thanks
Thanks
Finally, third time lucky. This time I was determined not to leave until I had found this one. Normally I hate these challenges as there are too many options. But, with no muggles around, I was able to get down on my knees and have a good look. Cache was larger than I expected. TFTC.
One of my pet hates - machinery/guns! But I keep torturing myself saying this time will be different and to my great surprise it was. Really glad to cross this off my huge list of caches on machinery. TFTC
Second time around we were lucky enough to spot this one. Not quite wheelchair accessible as it can't be reached from a wheelchair. TFTC
Our OC is a gun!! Found pretty quickly, easily could have taken a lot longer as is well camo'd. TFTC mr roo xo
Searched high and low before giving up. Should have read all the logs - my failing often. Just like the next one in the show grounds. If we have time tomorrow morning, we may come back.
TheDinoDigger and I spent some time crawling around this field gun, but didn't manage to find the elusive cache. Our second DNF for the day. We will certainly be back to find this one! Thanks, Mr. Roo
Had a very long search. Was getting weird looks from some people. Eventually we had to give up. This must be very well hidden. As Arnold Schwarzenegger once said only in plural "well be back" TFTC mr roo.
After 12 days in Sydney it was good to at last leave the city behind us. This was just a quick stop & time to streatch & grab a cache.
Stopped for lunch & while hubby rested I found this cache.
hanks mr roo for placing this cache.

As we were behind schedule for getting to Goulburn, we probably shouldn't have even attempted this cache, but we needed a loo stop, so why not have a look anyway. But of course, once you start looking, you don't like to give up too easily, so we spent a little while poking about. We were about to call it quits and Chunk left to walk down the grounds to attend to what we really came here for, and by the time he came back, the cache had been found, signed and replaced. TFTC mr Roo.
On the way home to Sydney after 5 days in Melbourne. Previous logs were consulted which were useful. Two of us had touched the cache but the strong magnets restricted movement. After reading previous logs I could actually get in a position to see this one. TFTC.
My Mum (Boeing737) got this one a couple of weeks ago. Today we were back in the vicinity and I picked up a few. TFTC
810 10 of 21 today.
Found while out of a road trip with mtrax and Boeing737.
A perfect day for caching: sun shining on occasions, never too hot and a couple of extra pairs of eyes to locate those very devious ones.
We had gz all to ourselves, but once again, with 3 pairs of eyes and specialised equipment, it took several minutes to come up with this one. There were some mutterings about evil placements, but I enjoyed the challenge here.

Out for a day trip caching with strangeTrousers and Boeing737 up past Gundaroo and Gunning.
AARRGG another gun cache but thankfully some extra eyes to help and B737 brought some TOTT to assist the search which proved to be a winner after a round trip of the GZ spotted it.. bingo.. another one bites the dust .. nice one Roo.

I groaned at the sight of this. Deja Vu to a similar cache on the Merimbula foreshore! At least this is away from muggle eyes so we could search thoroughly. My retractable mirror with torch helped here! TFTC mr roo
On a road trip towards Victoria for the Easter weekend. Lots of stops and lots of great caches! Thanks for placing this one.

I a ways shudder a bit when hides use these field guns - just because its usually hard to find a cache with so much metal around and so many sneaky places to hide. However a previous seeker provided an excellent clue and the cache was soon to hand. Log book a bit damp. Thanks for the cache Mr Roo.
Have succeeded in finding a nano on one of these guns and was adamant I could do it again here. Eventually with persistence, re-reading a few logs and the use of an “observation tool”, found a thankfully bigger than expected micro.
This cache was found a lot quicker than I expected. What would we do without the geo-mirror !! TFTC mr_roo.
Trust mr roo to make us crawl, scramble, brush and scrap away cob webs and leaves on a classic old gun! You can expect pay back for this one in a weeks time roo!! [:-)]! Anyhow, after a paf option ( who just happend to be the CO) we scrapped and scrounged a bit further and finally had the cache in hand and signed!
As we were just finishing up a camper van pulled up and the guy was an ex soldier who had spent many years using this very type of artillery. He was very pleased to see people checking it out and was going to spend the night at the grounds.
TFTC mr roo and see you Saturday!
Cheers,
GrimRaider.

Found with GrimRaider on a Sat arvo cache run to Dalton. We stopped in at Gunning to pick up a few caches and G loves to photograph these old guns. We had a good look for the cache, clearing spider webs and dropped fruit. I thought I might PAF who just happens to be the CO. Just as he was giving me a hint, G spotted the cache. Yes, you do have to look wheely low. TFTC Mr Roo - another nice hide from you
Thanks for the cache. Camped in the Showgrounds overnight. Cache in good order. RoamingParsons from Bargara, near Bundaberg, and en route to Tassie.
Found with geo friend Bluewattle on our caching weekend in the Yass district, TFTC.
The quickest find we have ever made for one of these, we must be getting good practice TFTC
Having done a similar sod in Guildford, WA we were dreading this. Fortunately we heeded other logs and it was a quick find.
Took hubby with me this time as he has the knack of finding the ones on machines - my pet dislikes. Had to revert to reading previous logs as we were both suffering slightly - spent last night helping a friend celebrate his 60th locally. A good night was had by all and now a successful search for this little blighter. TFTC SL

Very wheel hidden! Took us a few minutes to locate this one. Bring gloves if you are suspicious of dark hides holes!
Found 7:35 pm with LuckyL10n. Well we arrived at GZ and I parked the car and we headed over to the obvious. Then the search started. In my previous experience with these the container has always been a nano hidden in a hidey hole. After continued searching both LuckyL10n and I had started to become frustrated. LuckyL10n noticed a previous cacher could be a possible hint so he made contact and armed with a hint it then didn't take long for us to then locate the cache. We both could almost swear we had looked there but both of us admit we had been looking for something smaller. Thanks for the cache.
#2688 - 19:30; I headed out this afternoon with MrDamage to clear a couple of caches along the escarpment to the west of Lake George which keep showing up on the highway trip, but which are not accessible from down below, before heading over to Gunning for a few more. On the way we decided to detour via the wineries to the east and after a short stop, cleared the trigs and caches along the top of the escarpment which had been on our list. This was the seventh of eight I had yet to find in and around the town, all of which we had managed to find by mission's end. We had knocked over most of the caches on the 'to do' list when we made our way to this one. I had done a few like this on similar artillery pieces, so thought we would be quick. The search was on, high and low, the low and high to no avail. Read the logs and continued our unsuccessful search, before finally resorting to the PAF option which soon saw cache in hand. I think that both MrD and I had both looked straight at the cache during the early part of our search, but a combination of twilight and thinking we were looking for something smaller contributed to a bad case of cache blindness. All good in the end though and we were soon on our way again. TFTC mr roo
Accompanied with geofriends for the day.. From Guolburn - Gunning - Dilton - Gundaroo - H/way - return back to Goulburn. Enjoyed scene and lovely country.. Plenty history, worth to visit each town. Thanks mr roo.
Great day out for caching with Everlasting & skyejam - enjoyed this area in Gunning. Thanks for bringing us here ★★★
This was a wheely great cache. I was expecting it to take forever to find but it turned up fairly fast.
Taking the scenic route to Goulburn to grab some caches on the way. I am pretty sure I have logged a DNF for this one previously. Found in no time this go. TFTC
Awesome find took me and a mate about 30 mins .. Ahh the smell of burning rubber.
[:(!] After a long night attending one my nephews engagement party it was time to head back home and on the way picking up a few caches, this was one of them, parked the geoka as close as possible to GZ and walked in from there, on arrival at GZ the cache was located and it was in hand in a matter of minutes. Always have traveled through here before the new highway bypassed this town. Have not stopped here for ages.
I like it

Took a little while. If Badja Jnr hadn't read out some logs I'm not sure I would have. I don't mind if the hider doesn't mind.
Spent 10 minutes looking for this cache, but as the rain got heavier, we had to abandon our search. Maybe next time...
On our family road trip, The Neighbs and I thought we'd give this one a go. After spending 10 minutes in the rain, we decided against pneumonia and left empty handed.
