Archiving and collecting all the containers of the trail in coming weeks to open the area up for fresh new caches for anyone to place.
Thanks for all the positive feedback to all those that have done the trail and enjoyed it.

Day two of the HCRT grand adventure and today Geosnag1 was on foot running as he needed to get some k’s under his legs whilst StrangeTrousers and LuckyL10n and myself where on our bikes. It was a tad cold and windy when we started however the day cleared and wind died down to make it a pleasant experience.
The Start was at Huon and ending at “End of the Line”. Today was a little more of a challenge on the bikes with most of it being uphill but still very enjoyable and should not be a challenge for anyone with normal fitness levels. Again the views were stunning with added wisps of fog or clouds over the lake and hills to give you that “ahhh” moment. Really enjoyed all the different types of cache containers and hides.
Yes I had a good laugh at being thrown up a tree by StrangeTrousers and LuckyL10n and we agreed that the highlight was the bridge crossing and are very grateful that some of these old rail way lines have been turned into rail trails for others to enjoy.
All logs signed as "LSGC" being LuckyL10n, StrangeTrousers, Geosnag1 and CBRChic

#7443 - 12:50; A plan was hatched a few weeks back with StrangeTrousers and CBRCHIC to tackle the High Country Rail Trail (HCRT) from Wodonga to Tallangatta this weekend. After completing the first half yesterday afternoon, we were back this morning to wrap up the journey, albeit a little saddle sore in my case. We started a little east of where we finished yesterday, after dropping the bikes and then taking the geomobile to the end of the trail ready for our arrival later in the day. It was another enjoyable ride along the trail with lake views most of the way. I can't believe how long it took the mist to clear from the hilltops, particularly given the strong breeze we encountered along the way. Apologies for the largely generic logs. We again found all of the caches we were after today, still signing as LSGC and still resorting to the cache name for inspiration when we got a little stuck. Again, most were in good condition, with some which are in need of some TLC. TFTC The Trail Crew
#3146 37 of 40 today.
Day 2 of the HCRT trip.
Out with CBRChic, LuckyL10n & Geosnag1.Today was another fantastic day's caching out along the HCRT starting just past "All Aboard at Huon & ending at "End of the Line". The scenery once again was amazing, but it was bitterly cold this morning. We didn't kick off until about 10 after to-ing & fro-ing cars and bikes and today, GS1 was on foot, but still managed to outpace us ! This part of the trail was a lot more uphill than expected, and into the biting wind for the most part. The wind did eventually drop as we neared the end and it was once again a very pleasant day.
Highlights for me were: pushing CC up into a tree, the bridge crossings, the view and the sense of achievement.

Beaut place to stop and survey the surrounding countryside. Can just imagine what this looks like at 100% capacity. Tftc.
In Albury to visit the kids, and doing the tourist thing. Cache time is strictly rationed, but this one got the nod.
It would have been a quick find in an obvious spot had the phone not decided to spontaneously reboot. A few minutes later the errant device confirmed the cache senses and the logbook was signed.

Well I am well into the final set of caches along this lovely trail. I see now that I came up at an opportune time to finish them before theymeet a watery grave. It has also been nice to cycle this time with the Hume Dam with plenty of water in it. Being a Saturday the trail is full of other riders who frequently ask me if I need any assistance as they see me searching at the sides of the trail!
Thanks to the Trail Crew for this trail

Stayed the night in Albury in my motorhome. Decided to go to the Hume Weir for a look today, was leaving the weir and there was a road turning right, why not. Wow, glad I did this trip. Stopped at the lookout and there's a cache right here - ok part of a trail. Yes, no, yes, no - just this one. Some day I hope to be back with company and a bike, would love to do this complete trail. Thank you so much for the inspiration of another trip to plan.
While taking a stop at the lookout the cache gave the opportunity to stretch the legs and enjoy a part of this beautiful trail. An easy cache. TFTC
We were making the final drive home from NSW to Victoria and saw a place to pull over to grab lunch. This little rest stop had it all... information signs - with pictures of steam trains!, railings, nice views, cool shrubs, covered picnic tables, a power trail... everything one might need in a rest stop.... except : toilets. I had my priorities sorted out before setting foot on the beautifully made path.... I had the phone out searching for nearest cache. I had the picnic lunch in my hand and I was scoping for suitable toilet bushes. Good coverage, not too snakey. I saw a likely looking tree not far off and made a mental note to visit as soon as I had my sandwich. I told my husband that there was a powertrail here ... and then explained what a powertrail was.... and then had to promise that I would just get one cache. We did have another 3.5 hours in the car to get home, so I had to agree.
I ate my sandwich and one cold offered to come with my to get the cache, until I told him I would be doing a wee too, which is utterly mortifying and gross and stuff so he backed out.
The younger one wasn't phased at all. He came along and watered a random piece of grass on the way, probably would have waved to the passing cars if he'd have noticed.
We got to the likely looking tree and I couldn't go there as it was next to a picnic table. We got the cache , and it looked a bit spidery so I extracted it with the help of a twig, and looked in the hidey-hole to see a mass of spider egg sacs - that place will be heaving with a gazillion spider babies soon enough.
We signed and carefully replaced, then I walked back the other way looking for a wee bush. There was nothing. My other twin joined me and she wanted a wee bush too, so I took the bit of grass with the most modesty coverage, banged a stick on the ground a few times to scare off the snakes, and we both watered it. My husband, meanwhile had put everyone back in the car, and seeings as I had been abandoned twice yesterday, while I was searching for a cache, I thought better of a sneaky "lucky last" cache which was a tantalising 100m or so away, and ran back to the car before he drove off.
The area looks lovely and I'd love to say I'll be back to do the rest of the trail one day... here's hoping

Back to logging a few more of these after a couple of days break.
Covering the HCRT over 2 days on our trip from Canberra to Albury we had a wonderful time riding around the lake. There are spectacular views all the way and the lake was so full after a wet spring.
A few DNFs over the course of the trip, and some tired caches, but all in all a really wonderful adventure and some beautiful birdlife and animals along the way.
Thanks The Trail Crew for placing this series.

Suscoe had a most enjoyable day out today in the very good company of Phetlern following this trail to Old Tallangatta.
It was a mild to warm day with cloud and the occasional sunshine breaking through.
We enjoyed the various hides along the trail.
Cache found and the log signed.
This is a beaut place to geocache and we thank The Trail Crew for placing these caches out here.

Being camped on the shore of the picturesque and currently overflowing Lake Hume, with our great geo-friends the Suscoe duo gave us the perfect opportunity to put some more smiley tokens along the HCRT series. We thoroughly enjoyed finding such a variety of hides, which we tried to predict by the cache name.
Our thanks to The Trail Crew for placing and maintaining this trail.

#1832 The cache was found quickly and easily. Lots of water in the lake.
I came from Canberra to spend 2 days caching along this High Country Rail Trail. I parked my car & cycled along. There was no rain today, just wind. Today is day 2. It was a great experience. Loved the old train stations, views of Lake Hume, the variety and styles of caches, overflowing rivers and floodplains and wonderful rolling green hillsides. I found a total of 89 caches.

We are spending two weeks in Wodonga, house-sitting for our daughter. Today we did a round trip to Walwa, out along the river and back vi the B400.
Gill dropped me at the start of the bridge and drove on to wait at the Old Tallangatta lookout. Before this one I had found 2, DNFed 2 of the ones on the trail. Fortunately this one was a quick and easy find.
The cache was in good condition. We took nothing, left nothing, signed the log and replaced the container as found. Then it was up to the lookout for a quick drink and a drive back to base.
Thanks The Trail Crew for the cache.

Found 24/11. TFTC Trail Crew. 3rd of the series. Nabbing a few on way to explore the Mitta Mitta further upstream with muggle mate Greg. Jimmytherat.
I was in the area for a couple of reasons, so I decided to continue finding some of the HCRT caches. This series would be best done using a bicycle, but I was in the car, so a fair amount of walking and shuffling the car was involved. Although it was quite warm, not a snake in sight. Thanks Trail Crew for a great experience.
Out for a morning of caching around the border. Started down the other end of this trail today. And picked up about half a dozen. A quick find. TFTC.
A nice little hide while on a spectacular drive around the dam.

Great view of old town across the flats. Enjoying a long weekend exploring the area and picking up some great caches. lovely sunny day for a bike ride. Our thanks for placing this series.
Found on our journey back from the Mega in Stanthorpe. We decided to stay one more day and see if we could complete the series today. The weather was perfect and the numbers might be achievable if we separate. Mr Morris worked out the logistics of transport, cycling, meeting up and then repeating it all over again until we were done.

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there The Trail Crew. We found your cache "Next Stop, Old Tallangatta - HCRT series" at 8:40:00 AM today. This cache makes our find count 10498.

This was our 8th find in the series this morning. Ian enjoyed the cycle along the trail, but as Penny is still learning to ride a bike she finds the going fairly difficult. (Once she gets the hang of the gears she will find it easier). [8)]
Please excuse our boilerplate logs, hopefully they won't detract from the great caches we found today
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 6m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards

Headed to Albury this long weekend on a Geomission with Rapidlywild and specimenX.
Today was the day to attack the HCRT trail, not starting out as early as we should have this was going to be interesting to see if we would actually completely finish it. SpecimenX and myself on the bikes and Rapidlywild in the car.
This trail was indeed a lovely ride with some great company and chatter to take our minds off some slight inclines along the way but we were also rewarded with some really stunning views.
Another one ticked off on our journey, logging duties performed and then on our way again.

Well the weekend was upon us and the planned Geomission with specimenX and FurfacesLL in Albury/Wodonga was here
We had been planning this weekend for sometime now and had been busy solving puzzles in preparation for the weekend. We spent the weekend doing the HCRT trail, some of the HSS series and some surrounding areas.
Officially day 1 of the attack on Albury/Wodonga area. Today we had plans to attach the HCRT Trail via pushbike and collect some random ones along the way also.
FurfacesLL and specimenX went off on the pushies while I went off in the geomobile to meet them at certain locations and continue the trail on foot. Logging duties completed and on we went.

A lovely winter's afternoon in the fresh air and sunshine with the family. And just a stones throw from our new home. Had fun finding this one!
Found with pprass and Team Pathfinder on a lovely cool day for cycling on the Rail Trail. This is necessarily a generic log but I will endavour to make individual comments also.
Found at 4:03 PM GAFF1 in the company of Alansee and Ian from Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder.
We finally woke up to a beautiful day, which meant that our plan that we hatched the previous night around the camp fire at Richo's of finishing off this series after nearly a 13 month gap was on!
It really was a beautiful day - still and clear as a bell which highlighted the beautiful valley in its autumn colours.
Thanks The Trail Crew.
ps: We signed the log books as Team APIS

We met up with Pprass and Alansee at Richardson Bend to spend a couple of days camping on the Murray River. After a rainy day on Saturday the sun was shining on Sunday so it was decided that a cycle on the HCRT was in order. We found 75 caches and enjoyed some beautiful scenery. A wonderful trail the likes of which we don't have in Western Australia.

Almost through this great series now. This was a great excuse to get on the bikes and enjoy this well configured series. Found with J+J.au and Wilbert67 as we made our mark on the caches in this area. Over the four day weekend we found some great caches showing us some fantastic locations and others challenging our geocaching skills. Thanks to all the cache owners for the obvious effort injected into this series and thanks to my colleagues for the company. SL.. TFTC
Enjoying 4 days of caching out this way with Baja15 and Wilbert, we have had this HCRT trail in mind to do. out of the series we DNF 1 and found all the rest except the the disabled caches.
I enjoyed the variety of hides and the themes on some were a bit spooky, the views along the way is beautiful.

Hot day today, great enjoyed on the trail easy one along to end in the line series... Wow beautiful view... Easy to find as very well hide thanks
Day five of our post Christmas / pre New Year trip... taking our new tent trailer for a test run, weather was very hot and humid. Our travels are taking us up to Ettamogah and across to Old Tallangatta before returning home.
Visiting many towns along the way, taking the Geo wife to places she has never been before, and giving our Geo Pug time to sniff out new territories
Did not expect to be seeing constant temps in the high 30's to low 40's... Geo wife got to see her first live black snake on the road in Australia, and I almost stood on a 5 foot brown snake at one cache on the HCRT, and a red back spider at another.
Stayed at some nice FREE camp sites along the way and a couple of caravan parks as well, learned a lot of things along the way, history and more, but in all a great adventure and we were able to clock up our 1000th find along the way ..
thanks to the CO for this cache

I mentioned to some Caching friends my love of caching on my pushbike and asked if they knew of any good trails as I would be without my kids for a week between Christmas and New Year. Code1 put me onto the HCRT and a quick look and the trip was planned. I checked the internet and it seemed camping was available at Ebden reserve right on the trail. When I arrived this was not so! (don’t believe everything you see on the internet!) So I had to settle for a paid campsite at the Boathaven Caravan Park just up the road. After setting up the tent by 7pm on the 27th Dec I got on the bike and decided to get a few nearby. The first one I found was disabled and I soon realised why when I found only the lid of the container! I had better luck from then on. I did 8 on the 27th , followed by about 50 on the 28th (25k out and 25k back in mid 30’s heat nearly killed me!), and the remainder on the 29th. I found nearly all of them but for a few DNF’s that I may come back for one day.
Thanks to the Trail Crew for all the work that goes into setting up a trail like this …… loved it and will recommend it to all cachers.

From when it was first published the HCRT was on our "to do" list. Today we were able to make a start. Shanks pony was our mode of transport and we really enjoyed the walk despite the heat. The scenery was superb. We were impressed by the variety of hides and the accuracy of the co-ordinates. Congratulations The Trail Crew on an outstanding series. If we do not find all caches in this series this visit we will be back.
What a beautiful view greated us as we continued on our way. The cache was quickly found, log signed and cache returned to its hide. As the temperature rose the flies descended in droves. Oh for a few corks on the hats.
