Headed south this morning for a few early morning caches After completing a new lab series this morning I made my way to a safe spot to park and quickly found my way to ground zero. The cache was quickly located and removed from its hiding place.Log extracted and my mark made for prosperity. After returning the cache to its hiding place I was off on the next adventure. On my way to a looking major milestone. 10000 with only 13 to getA big thanks to the cache owner for placing this cache for the enjoyment of others.Cheers
This finishes my Found date calendar!! Glad to have that challenge done! Thanks for the series I will be back for the rest

SaintsMadHouse and I were on one of our usual days of Wednesday Madness. We decided to tackle a few caches around this neck of the woods today. SaintsMadHouse wanted this cache in particular to finish off her placed date calendar, so it was a definite priority for today. We parked the car and wandered along the track. Soon enough we headed off over bracken to reach GZ. We heard the cries for help and instantly spied the poor little creature in need of rescuing. An interesting container and situation here.
Thanks for the cache culture50.

This series has been on my to do list for years but somehow I've just never managed to get here. Today's my Birthday and with a day off work booked in I finally decided to pull my finger out and go hunting Rats.
This one was the first find to kick off the day and talk about a shaky start. I must have walked past it 3 or 4 times before I spotted it. Oh man this is gunna be a long day.

After doing the nearby Rat Plague series, we spent the most time looking for this one! Finally found it. Very cool hide! There is currently a soggy log. Thanks for the cache!!
Went to try this one today but apparently the park is closed due to weather event. Assuming might also effect the others in the park as well.
Out for a lovely walk in the Cornubia forest today. We have come armed with plenty of sunscreen and lots of water. Lots of bird noises around which is lovely to hear. It was a quick find at GZ with a lovely container.
Thanks Culture50

Out for our daily walk in this little-used bushland.
A nice afternoon, just a few mountain bikers and a couple of walkers to share the paths with.
This one was one of the easier ones here
Thank you for hiding these

Over from NZ to try and escape the cold windy wet weather, but I'm not sure we totally managed that. The forecast for today was showers in the morning, clearing after lunch with very little chance of rain during the afternoon.
Yeah, right...!!! Headed off for some bush trail walking in the sunshine just after 1 pm, but by 2:00, the one shower for the afternoon had arrived and it stayed for the rest of the day, so I was quite wet and bedraggled when I got back to the cache mobile just after 4:00. No human muggles encountered on the whole trek, but I guess the MTBrs would be unlikely to be out on a Friday afternoon and no sensible locals would be out trail walking in the rain..!!
At the top of the hill on the trail now and the drizzle just keeps on getting heavier. Thankfully, once near GZ, I spotted something unusual out of the corner of my eye and sure enough, there was the cache. A well constructed hide this one and gets a fave from me for the uniqueness. TFTC

At the "top"!
I motored toward this one and hunted about. I soon noticed something. What's going on here? Nicely set up. Simple but well setup. As you made me LOL, I'll give you a favourite point for this one, Mr Culture50
I signed the log and re-hid everything as it should be. It was in good condition. TFTC Culture50

As soon as I saw that this one was back in place I shot out the door like a rocket!
I was supposed to be getting some sleep, as I'd worked a night shift last night and was in need of some rest [)] I just couldn't let those unloved days sitting on this cache go though By an online calculator there have been 443 unloved days since Captain Terror's last found it log! I think that's enough now for me to qualify for a challenge cache
Anyhow, found the new cache in reasonably good time once my GPSr settled down. (coords seemed ok) So I extracted the logsheet (nice blank one) and dutifully signed and dated the FTF section lol.
All replaced as found in readiness for the next geocacher to trek in here. There will probably be a few after this one they missed from the series
Thanks for the cache (and replacing it) culture50

Sadly, a blotch on the smiley map for us on this one. More than a year since the last find, we didn't realise the string of DNFs when we headed in for the hunt. With Ghostgums and Kaisho53 on the team, we spent a good 20 minutes and GZ, followed the hint from the last found log, but no cache found.
Can I suggest this one be checked by the CO. I'd love to be proven wrong and go back for another hunt, but there is a chance is it no longer there.

I was out and about caching this area again today. This one I definitely need help finding though [?]
I searched for about twenty minutes and gave it another five minutes on my way back out, but no smiley for me here I can understand if it was a micro, but this one is listed as a small, and no sign of it.
A pity too, as this one has not been found for over a year! All those unloved days would come in very handy indeed for a challenge cache I plan on doing one day!
Perhaps the cache owner can come and check on this one and send me a message when he replaces it please

It's Thursday Funday and today barbbowman, Mrs Just a Trifle and I are out in the wilds of Cornubia, hoping to find some ratties [:)}
Well we certainly need help with this one - we couldn't find it, LOL! Not to worry. There's been quite a bit of disturbance in the area, but I hope this ratty is still there hiding. TFTH culture50

I looked in a lot of holes as well as the usual suspected places (even did a bit digging) but to no avail. I expanded the search radius and was rewarded by - you guessed it - more poop! Though there was a strange, lonesome fungus that looked like a red sunflower.
Similar to a few people before me - I need help. Could not find it. I really wanted to as some of the logs sounded like the cache was pretty funky. No luck
Another attempt at this one before leaving. Again no luck for me.
Coords seemed to jump around quiet a bit and with having juat done 3 hours of caching and hiking my tummy was beginning to complain not to mention poor geopup still hadn't had his brekky.
Had to pull the pin on this one.
2 caches left in the rat plague series. And the 2 couldn't be any more further away from one another

No luck for me today. Reached gz and seen a likely hiding spot but came up empty handed.
Geocaches that interest me near home are getting fewer and farther away. That's what I get for ticking off calendar dates while being slack and not wanting to travel far. This series in the Cornubia Forest however has been on my map and in need of finding at some point. Today I needed to tick off 15 January for the second time and I also noted this geocache hasn't been found in some months.
Why it hasn't been found, I don't know. Closest to the road, no DNFs and the others right near it have been found. It might be missing and nobody logs DNF's, but whatever, I'll go for a look. Not wanting to find all of the series today I parked as close as I could, the drive to which took me along the old bus route I took to and from school for five years. Oh, how the area has changed since 2009.
GPSr, and pen in hand I set off down the trail. It took only a few metres before I was on a typical culture50 type trail and I suspect I have ridden this one some years ago, but the memory is vague. I went bush, then right to the co-ordinates. A large tree and not much around. I chose to extend the radius slightly and after copping a spiderweb to the face and seeing what looks like a rabbit hole, I spied something a bit suspicious.
Using a stick I flicked it out and could immediately see this rat sure is in some grave danger. I pulled him out and had a look at the logbook - it matches the online logs. How odd it has been almost ten months since last visit. I added my name, then replaced as found. As I stood up to leave I noted I was still within sight of my car. Such a short walk didn't help me to not feel like a slacker today Thanks for this geocache, culture50, I'll be back for the rest

After jumping around with flighty coords, geowife spied a tell tale SPOB, and it's no wonder this rat needs help. Found at 10.05 am on 23rd March 2015.
This rat catcher almost got me but I was too quick and retrieved the cache from out of his very jaws
Isn't it funny how little geokids have NO FEAR! Great little cache and all in good condition today. Had a good scream and a good laugh TFTC!
Running around today like mountain goats chasing rats in caches - love the series, hard work and some bush bashing and cliff climbs & descents, but a series which has been put together well. Quick find here. Tftc Tfth
Wasn't sure if it was the cache or something else called out to Susan and she moved it cool there it is tftc
From "charcoal" we made our way to this cache and begun the hunt, I looked in a few a few spots then I read out the description, then bennyboppers announced that she didn't want to touch that, she was the one calling for help, misssusan used her foot to shift something and the cache was uncovered. Very humorous, we all had a bit of a giggle. We popped him back and off to the next. Tftc.
BennyBoppers found this one too but she needed help as she wouldn't touch the cache!
Out caching with Bennyboppers, Misssusan79 and Lisylou. Bennyboppers said "I am not sure if this is the case but I'm not touching it!" So Misssusan had a dig and yes that rat did need help! Cool cache!
A beautiful day caching, in the Cornubia Forest completing caches as part of the Rat Plague series in that area. The walking in this forest was fantastic, with some great trails and hills. Also completed some bike trail caches along what I believe is the V1 trail. Kids had a ball. Thanks to all cache owners for placing and maintaing their hides.

I had to touch that one with a stick as I wasn't too sure about it. Got it though.
Found it!! Having been here before and had my GPSr fail on me, so I have returned to start again out for a ride on the is beautiful Sunday morning I arrived at GZ with my friend who tagged along for the ride. We hunted around for about 5 minutes before the Rat in distress was spotted...after a little wrangling we had the log signed and returned to its lair TFTC Culture50
Headed on up here after an event I caught the tail end of,thought I might catch the tail end of a few more rats. This one was a bit scary, but I wrestled it and won the fight and signed the log .TFTC.culture50.
Out for another day of exterminating the rats that seem to abound in the bushland reserves on this side of town. Ok finally made it tot the top and the other side of the reserve Not having been in this area before, we took in the scenery while resting before grabbing the cache - well worth the walk.
Not wanting to give anything away, the 'meal' has become separated from the big guy so some repairs are in order before it gets lost.
Number seven for the day.

Eighth rat for the day on our extermination run with Dansync. Final cache on the top part of the rat plague. Trails to this one go from huge, to a goat track and then geotrail. This one didn't take long to find, but long enough for the rat to be killed. Oh well. At least it's been exterminated. TFTC Culture50. Now for the descent.
Nice Looking Cache. It was where the GPS said it would be. When I crouched down for a closer look, I too was a sceptic on whether it was real or not because we found a Toad about 3m away in a hole.
Hunting the Rat Plague and it is no wonder this Rat wants help. Initially missed this on the way in but picked it up anyway on the way out.
Was almost going to have to walk by this one. As I was leaving the previous cache, looking at my phone for direction and seeing 15% I was feeling good about making it back to this one and then the car. Only for the screen to go blank and the phone not turn back on. Thankfully though I was carrying my great and handy backup battery and was not long before I was back online heading for this guy before heading home.

[:0] My daughter and I took a while to verify this cache using a looooong stick and plenty of reversing manoeuvres! With Pottyclan. tftc
late log missed another one.... must have been to busy with little lexie today on her first doggy geo hunt.
Took Geo Border Collie Chester and Geo Border Collie Puppy Lexie on a rat hunt today. I had been expecting to see one of these all day with the hot weather and the recent rain. I had been keeping an eye out as Little Lexie had not encountered such a beast before so I knew I would have to be quick to ensure she did not get too close. In the end the dogs where all tuckered out and were happy to sit on the track whilst we ventured into the scrub to pull this rat to safety. Opps too late I think he is a gonner! Our GPS was about 15M out when we found the poor dead creature TFTC Culture50
AGGGHHHH - my GPS didnt download properly again from GSAK. Grrrr. So with the phone, I was miles out of the way. MM came to my rescue, she had been here yesterday and today she was further up the track, she did a 360 and came with her GPS so I could scour this one out. Scary cache.. scary.. but I knew what I had to do. In I went, grabbed it in the middle and signed. Smilely face too. TFTC
