Today we did our last hike in New Zealand. We found this cache quickly, the view is awesome.
Unfortunately we could not immortalize ourselves in the log. The cache shows bite marks incl. hole and this one is totally wet. Please check.
Many thanks and greet from Switzerland

To continue with my personal challenge of having found a minimum of 10 caches for every day of the year I needed to find 8 caches today to bring my total finds for the 27th February up to 10 caches.
The target of my tramping club's hike today was to climb Peak Hill. I had noted in preplanning that this cache was almost on the track as so would be my first cache target of the day.
In somewhat cloudy and very breezy conditions 35 club members snaked their way up onto the ridge, and right on past the cache, without stopping. *The tramping club doesn't wait for geocachers conducting cache searches.* However, the wind inceased in strength as we gained further height and members started to have difficulty standing upright such that the decision was made to abandon the climb and return down to the bus. On the way down I took advantage of the stop made to read the information sign and quickly found the rather battered berrocca container. Unfortunately the log was so wet in the holed bag that all I could do was slightly engrave my name 'n date in the sodden paper. The cache needs a new log and bag.
That's 1 cache found, 7 more to get later during a planned night cyclocache ride in a forest. TFTC

First cache on the opposite side of the earth. Weather could be better, but also worse. It begins rain on our way back from the top of hill. We enjoyed view anyway. Thanks from Czech republic
I had the two caches up here on my GPS, but wasn't really intending to climb this hill when I set out. But when I arrived at the parking area, the sun was out and it wasn't too cold, so grabbed the backpack and set off. Met some people on the way up and had some good chats while stopping to catch breath! Cache container is a little battered, but log is dry. TFTC!
Tough climb up to here & still not at the top. Amazing views. Container a bit battered but ok. Tftc
Beautiful place with no people around at all... Definitely one of the best views around here.
Today I'm travelling from Methven via Lake Coleridge to Christchurch. It's my last full dat at the Southern Island. I'm on my way to Lake Coleridge to do some hiking. This was halfway up. The cache was found quickly, unfortunately that's not what I can say about the one on top. Thanks for the challenge!
We came here to see the beautiful Lake Coleridge and to hike up Peak Hill. Unfortunately it became very cloudy, but still it was a great day. Thanks for the cache!
Being such lovely conditions I decided to introduce a friend to the mountains, what a great place and a favourite of mine for giving folk the wow factor and yes a cache I hadn't got my hands on.
It was -3c when we started off, armed with an ice axe just in case however the snow had just enough melt to make the walk very pleasant. We found the other cache up at the summit but this one for the life of me I couldn't find, being buried in snow I guess was not helpful. Time was getting on and the air was cooling so gave up the search until my next visit.

Last week Mrs TG mentioned that she wanted to climb a hill this weekend....so I picked this one. Had 2nd thoughts last night as the cold front came through chch last night but the day dawned clear and still. Packed food and warm clothes. Left home a bit late so didn't hit track start until lunchtime. Ate lunch before heading off. Warm and sunny but some snow up top. Didn't realise track just goes straight up the flank of peak hill?! Cold, ice and a bit slippery. Boys (6 &8) did well climbing up to the ridge then along to gz for a wee rest. Cache quick to hand. Fantastic views. Really cold wind picking up. We continued up, following the fenceline, ice and snowy - slow going. Made it up to the rocky ridge about halfway between this and the top cache. Sunny but very cold wind. Too cold and slippery to continue, boys cold and keen to descend, also had to allow time to descend as very slippery.....great views and a fantastic adventure. Will come back in the summer for another bash at the top....
Amazing walk. And what a view! Thanks from Prague =D
My GPS was playing tricks with me so I did an additional 100 hight meters extra on my trip

Under the snow but all good. Hint still visible as an object of note.
First found a lid without container - must be off the old lost one?
Slippery walk up the hill and didn't go to the top because of snow and ice.
Great views and perfect calm sunny day but cold.

Had a few hours to kill before kiwi nomads events so let's go climb a hill great views today
I know when I haven't been for a good work in a while. Hurts. A little cloudy at this point but some views can be made out. Tftc
Great day for a walk up Peak Hill. Surprisingly a few people walking this track. Tftc
On a school trip with myself and seven other students to Lake Coleridge. After scaling the mountain, it was time to come down, or should I say fall down, the hill. We all stopped to search for this one but none of us could find it. A DNF for us
Low clouds today, but cache easily found. Well, not mentioning the "leg killer" to get to the cache of course

camped in motor home at the start of track to get a morning start.very windy night but the weather was fine so it was all go.a great climb for an old hunter 72years. got to cash and found it with no trouble. headed on up to the top but was stoped by the wind, we could not stand up even the dog with four legs had trouble. if i am still around i may try for the top some other time.
What a quick way to get to a high cache. Go straight up the hill. Quickly found, the kea should have a problem grabbing this container. Thanks for the hide.
We hadn’t originally planned on climbing Peak Hill, as it seemed a lot of effort for a single cache, but when ridders76 placed a second cache on it, two caches were sufficient incentive to put it on our agenda. We know Mr ridders has told us previously that one cache should be sufficient incentive, but we’re not convinced. As we approached Lake Coleridge, we saw a ginormous hill in the distance, which was the shape we knew Peak Hill to be, but we decided it was too far away and too big and high. As we drew nearer, we discovered it wasn’t too far away, although it was still too big and high, and becoming moreso by the minute. So our journey began. We took 34 minutes to reach the location of this cache, which we thought wasn’t too bad for a couple of old fogies. Although the coordinates took us straight to a suitable, and indeed the only, hint object, after 10 minutes fruitless searching, we decided to continue on to On Top of the World, and have another look on our return. Coming back down, we spent a further 10 minutes, still without success. We suspect the cache has gone, and as it seems unlikely to have been muggled by humans, we wonder if animals/birds are to blame? If the cache is confirmed as missing, maybe ridders76 will allow us to log it as a find, as we are unlikely to ever get back up here.
Logging as a find with permission of the CO as we really don't want to have to walk away back up there, despite the wonderful views.
Thank you for checking and replacing the cache so promptly.

Found easily, then stopped for a cuppa nearby before setting off to the summit. Really windy on exposed ridges, and REALLY windy at the top, but we were surprised at how many people were up here today. Those views at the top.....it doesn't get much better than that.
We where in the area and saw this was unfound so headed off. A steep climb with good views. We got to GZ and took al ittle to find the camo cache only to open it up to discover we where third to find by 2 days. We signed the log and re hid. We looked at pushing on to the sumit however the clouds started coming in so no better view and hence headed down TFTC

First to log but not to find, beaten to the site by troutburger. found during a break from a fishing camp at the lake. Weather was not the flashest, and we got another burst of snow as we arrived at the top, bt any day in the hills is a great day.
As we took about an hour 10 for the round trip, I will count this towards my bid the the Ramblers reward cache. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=d2b1bcdd-6c4c-404d-ba4d-cd8148fd2d2a
