Today's aim, to clear a bit more of Underwood. While the girls were away for the weekend and the boy still asleep I cruised out here early, boots and long pants on and cleared out McC. Then, on the way back, stopped here, as we in the know, know that not all archived B&W hides are gone.As GKMLB said, easy enough to get the numbers for the final and then, as expected hide is bang on those coordinates. However, it took me way too long as I started searching on the other side of the item, and all the others up to the stream.Still all good to go here.
This one showed up on my phone as an archived cache, so we thought we would come and have a look for it on the off chance it is still where it was originally placed.I read the cache page so knew exactly how to go about finding it even though the sign was gone.I plugged in the new coordinates and put on our gumboots and headed to gz. There was a dog and its owner out in the open field chasing a ball but other than them we had the place to ourselves. As I suspected might happen the cache was in the first place I searched. It is a shame that so many bumandworker caches are being archived on the dnfs of people who are still learning the ins and outs of how geocaching can work. Especially this one as the instructions are so explicit that I find it hard to understand how anyone could not find it.Anyway enough of a rant, thanks for placing this cache and thank you for another smiley
I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.
Hi bumandworker
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.
Regards

A quick find here today.
Walked in but had the wrong footwear, so suffered wet feet the rest of the day. Quick find, but log unwritable so added a strip of RITR paper. TFTC Bum.

Ground very wet so I parked by the bridge. By the time I found it, I was drenched Roche skin. Heavy rain set in and I was by the wrong Rimu tree. I didn’t want to bring my phone out and get it wet too, so I was pretty much going by memory of reading the description. Decided to came back another day when I saw another Rimu tree, bingo! The best part was I got to visit the grave of my beautiful Smeagle cat who I buried in nearby bush in 2011. Hope that doesn’t offend anyone, but there are quite a few pets buried in this bush, bit of a pet cemetery! ️. Anyway, thanks for the cache, the log is very wet and I didn’t have my cache repair kit with me today .
Beautiful place for a cache. While staying close by tool opportunity to come this one even though it was raining. Took a bit of a hint but got it eventually.
Out exploring Port Underwood with The Seagnoid and Toby. So lets go!
Ground very wet but managed not to get stuck. Found Devons Rimu but no cache although it would have disappeared among the foilage. The Seagnoid snagged it next door. Tagged. Cheers

Out for a drive to the Burnsco's shop in nearby Waikawa... thought hubby would like to see if this area was suitable for a future caravan weekend?
Of course I had to grab a couple of caches while I'm out this way. Was all quiet in this reserve.... compared to the DOC camp next door that had a few people movers scattered throughout.

Parked out on the road verge and walked into this nice area. Wandered around for a while trying to get GPS to settle and looking for signs, stiles and fences. Hmm, nothing there, but we're definitely in the right place as GPS is down to 6m. Andy continues looking while I head back to car to check map for clues. Whilst there a man and his dog walk past so I ask him the name of the bush. He gives me an answer and then we discuss the vandalism that has been taking place. He had noticed the fence being cut and wire missing, the stile was under some bushes, and now that he thought about it, the sign had been missing last weekend when he went down there. I thanked him for the information and went back to Andy with new co-ords to make a quick find of the cache. tftc
a minor issue at WP1
we will get there and make some adjustment to the page....and add a new log
on the list for when we are next over there

Another road trip today, out to Port Underwood and over to Picton. Another great drive, lots of views and picturesque bays to visit along the way. Found the sign no worries, then found the cache as well. Cheers and TFTC
I was on my way around to Port Underwood and this was on my way so I stopped. At the published coords there was no sign but there it was over at S 41 16.174 E 174 04.411.
Cheers for the cache.

What a lovely reserve. First time that I've been here. Plenty of campers on the other side of the creek but no one in residence over here. TFTC #8188
We initially overshot the entrance to this area but thanks to the trusty tom-tom that was soon rectified. We very soon had the numbers then took the short walk to GZ. There is evidence of it recently being driven in multiple directions unfortunately but the ground is reasonably hard at the moment.
Thank you bumandworker.
Thank you bumandworker.
We initially overshot the approach but made good on the rebound. The area was well maintained but deserted. It was more an in , on or under water day I think. We left the car and walked to the cache noting multiple vehicle marks. The ground was firm enough to do no damage. Luckily, because this area is to nice to be ripped up. The find was simple and retrieval careful without injury. Some live stock on the wing was taking a more and more keen interest so we didn't hang around. Thank you Bumandworker
The great Marlborough drought broke on Saturday and after being stuck inside for two days due to the downpour, NZDi and I were suffering from a serious case of cabin fever. With three FTFs begging to be picked off around the Picton area, it wasn't hard to guess where the main focus of today's caching endeavours was going to be. I ran a quick pocket query while NZDi packed a picnic lunch and we were headed out the door just after 9.30am.
First order of the day was a couple of FTFs to be found on the hills above Port Underwood and after getting them we headed for the other side of Picton for the third FTF. This one was on the way and we have by-passed it before so thought it was as good time as any to find it.
Of course we went down the track on the wrong side of the stream to the camping ground, but it was soon obvious we needed to be on the other side. After all the recent rain, we decided to park out by the road and walk in, but on reflection we could have driven. Like others have said before, there is no sign at GZ, but it is obvious where it is and after getting the necessary information we managed to work out a likely set of coordinates. A short walk later NZDi had the cache in hand and passed it to me to complete the paperwork.

The sign was some distance for the given coordinates but using the numbers gave a plausible GZ. Lack of knowledge of native trees was a bit of a problem, but Google sorted that. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely area

That's a great retreat and camping ground, if one likes camping
We parked outside and walked on the wrong side
Returned, over the bridge and found a sign which was close enough to the given coords, did quickly the maths and spit on had the cache after considering how to reach it.... All in order

Found on a stunning spring day on a scenic journey from Richmond to Picton, via Port Underwood Rd. Many thanks to all the COs for their cache hides that contributed to a most enjoyable days outing.
We parked a wee way from the sign and walked the rest of the way (it wasn't far). En route to the final, we could see the deep wheel ruts of a vehicle which looked like it was close to getting stuck. Spotted the rimu and the cache was soon located, though extrication took a wee bit longer.
Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.

#10008. An interesting wee area. Underfoot conditions were not too bad given the time of year. TFTC.
Yay! After over 180 traditional caches, this is my first successful multi without an experienced helper! Tftc. Nice camping over the creek.
[green] Today is a dot day, and I have been meaning to take the Underwood road to Picton for a while. Tried last week, but the road was too slippery after the rain. Today, it was great. Decided not to drive into the reserve. Ground was a little soft but it would have been okay. Probably would have a wheel rut trying to get out though. Was a bit confused at the page coords, found the sign 50m away. Rather further than expected, but it turned out to be the right one (I was wondering if there were others, on the other side of that central bushy bit. Cache was an easy find
I've been meaning to get this one for a while now. Why not break my trend and get 2 caches today. A nice multi and good hide. No Geo trail to follow but a reasonably quick find.
There are a lot of campers over the stream in the other section of the reserve, and soon to be a boat out in the bay trying to catch some fish. T F T C

Me and my dirty little GPS helper found this GC on a NZ South Island trip in January / February 2015.
TFTC!

Mallorcatommy, con/limon and I were on our journey through the southern island of New Zealand. With the help of geocaches we came to so many beautiful places, saw breath-taking landscapes and had, all in all a very wonderful journey! Thank you to all owners for placing all those nice geocaches!
Every day we are traveling around is same but also different. Today we had again the pleasure to visit some very beautiful spots and were also able to find nearly placed geocaches. I thank every single owner for placing it and giving us with doing this an other good reason to come here.
Found with quinella . We have really enjoyed all your caches over the last wee while but I have a complaint on this one- blackberry thorn is still stuck in my hand - unavoidable . Alas- the perils of geocaching!! Tftc
Calculations all good then Jillymc kindly retrieved with a little pain! Another future campsite! Thanks
Quick solve and prickly find but lovely spot and we enjoyed looking around the area. TFTM
The wife and I are campervanning (word?) across the South Island of NZ and caching along the way. We stopped at this camp site for the night and had to find the cache nearby. We didn't attempt to cross the stream but walked out the campground and over the bridge for the find. I usually don't do multi caches but this one was super fun and easy. TFTC and for giving us something to do on our trip! Greetings from California!
When our original plans were postponed Mrs Sobad was delegated the planning of the day. She asked the driver if she would be happy to do the Port Underwood drive - and obviously she agreed.
This was the first find on the drive. It is always handy to have 2 people to work out the final coordinates - but these were easy to calculate and the result looked likely. Even more likely when the cache was found quickly.
Thanks.

Had been to this part of the world before for a previous cache so thought I knew exactly where we were heading. Realised the gps numbers weren't going to get low enough . . . then saw an alternative approach. Sat in the cachemobile to work out the numbers, then it was a quick stroll to sign the log. I was expecting an older, larger specimen but it was refreshing to see such a youthful, healthy one. TFTC
Out caching with the marlb trekkers today. Parked on the other side so sent the kids in across the stream to gather the sign info. Numbers calculated we then tried to direct them like huntaways to gz. That didn't work so Mr KE wandered across with a gps to help them zero in. Cache soon found. Great fun.
Thanks bumandworker for the cache.

It looks like a lot of water has been through this area. Camp site looks like it was flooded and closed recently but was open today. Parked in the camp site and wandered around to this cache as the ground on this side of the stream was just to soft to drive on and it was roped off. No problem with getting the info and luckily the cache was stashed high enough to have survived the flooding. TFTC, Biggles.
Yeah my first multi. We stayed close by and i figuered i have time to try it. Greetings from germany
Nice to add another multi to the list, was a quick working out but was about to give up on the cache. TFTH
We went out after our dinner of freshly caught fish and found both sets of coordinates to be out. Found after a spot of logical deduction. TFTC
Found while staying nearby. We went out on an expedition after eating freshly caught cod for dinner. Coordinates did not make sense but figured out where cache might be by deduction rather than through the GPS or smartphone. Retrieved Dragonheart coin. TFTC
Found with the help of the hint plus a little thought, after spending the night at the campground. Dropped off Dragonheart geocoin - it only just squeezed in the container! Thanks for the cache.
By the time I arrived in the bay it was getting late so first priority had to be setting up camp and cooking dinner. Doing this as a night cache made it more challenging, to start with I got to 0 meters and couldn't see any hint of a signpost. Walking in ever increasing circles under the dim light if my head torch and no moon finally paid off. Once solved i set off again this time having success I'm almost the first place I looked. Signed log at 10.40 pm. No idea what the hint meant as couldn't see much around me but it didn't matter anyway. Then had to engage my backtracking skills using the GPS which were spot on. Even managed to avoid the boggy patches The experience makes it worth a favourite. Number 20 for the day. TFTC

Great spot. On holiday in the Sounds for the long weekend. Never to this part, thanks for that.
Came from ferry to camp here for night and, of course, pick up a cache. What a beautiful place, river, beach, birds, huge mussels, 2versus1 you need to come here and pick these mussels, and the scenery! What a place to camp. We like these caches with a bit of local history attached. Tftc
No luck for us. The dog and small child didn't like the cutty grass and patches of blackberry to search too hard so might've missed it with the quick search we did.
Nice multi and what a great drive and spot. Loved this little venture out and beyond. A much for campervans
And a podium finish for me making this one a clean sweep by 'other island' cachers
I'd forgotten about this area, a great spot for sure. TFTC

FTF. I saw this one come up before I came across from Wellington for the MEGA event and it was still unlogged when I came off the ferry. Made a quick diversion in case it was unfound and struck gold No problems with the questions and I was able to drive right to the cache site, there hadn't been any rain recently and the ground was quite firm. Found the cache quickly, signed log, and on my way. Thanks for the cache and for bringing me back to this great spot.
