Awesome to find it in this lovely little out crop under the sheosk .Looks like a good spot to have my lunch. Geocache is here safe and sound.TFTC aHomburg
Cache 9/11 with fisherfamfive and AdamW on our first caching trip of the new year. Once here, we figured that the misbehaving GPS was bound to be accurate for at least one of us, so myself and Cooper approached from two different directions, with Adam following closely behind me. Cooper was able to search the very large amount of potential hiding spots at GZ and luckily, come up with the goods almost instantly, TFTC ahomburg
Out today with CammJT and AdamWickenton for our first caching trip of the new year on the bikes in the northern part of the Dandenong Ranges National Park. After making our way up the hills to GZ, we were produced with lots of rocks, meaning the hint of 'under a rock' didn't help our cause either. With GPS bouncing everywhere this one looked like it was going to be a tough search, however, luckily we were able to come up with the goods rather quickly. Tftc ahomburg
Uphill slog was hard my glutes
Took two goes at GZ to find cache GPS . . But my logical thinking paid off. I was slightly amused by this sign (see picture) there were many marked trails blocked, and then a lot of trails were not marked on the map, made for an interesting explore today.

Found two little animals that we think are swamp rats near gz here. Luckily they weren't too close to the cache so we didn't have to disturb them. A nice find, thanks for the cache!!
Thanks for the cache! Well preserved, really cool spot for a hang/picnic on a nice day
Got it on my second visit. I must have just missed it last time. And sleeping right next to it was a hairy caterpillar which thankfully I spotted before grabbing. So beware! TFTC
Thanks for the cache aHomburg, I made it to the GZ,found and signed and then it started to rain, thank goodness ID just been to Kmart and there's a whole suit of dry clothes in my car. I once worked with a man named Chandler, he was related to the very chandler's these roads were named after. Regards from Victourer

The lone green icon surrounded by yellow smileys was too much to resist today, despite the recent logs mentioning the area is closed off to the public. Steve volunteered to tackle this one on his own, which was fine by me after I checked the map and imagined the climb.
As I relaxed in the car, Steve apparently enjoyed the trek to GZ. Ducked quickly around the fence, then found the cache just as quickly.
Thanks ahomburg.

Ok wasn’t too sure about retrieving this one but guessed it must have been ok given caches must have prior approval from land owners???? Perhaps the most non-direct route was still open. It was so a quick retrieval was made without disturbing the homes of the locals.
I was working in The Basin again today and arrived early enough to search out a couple of caches beforehand.
I didn't look at a contour map before I decided to head to this one from the Forest Rd side. Blimey! What a climb.
There was no view at the top either, as I was well above the cloud base and visibility would be lucky to be 50 metres.
After the find I encountered a track closure fence as I headed back to the track, so this one might need to be relocated.
Cache in good condition.

Doing the usual weekend climbs around the Dandenongs we set off for a late afternoon walk approaching One Tree Hill from the north-west rather than the oft-used more southern approach.
We went past this one on the way back down but didn't attempt it.
It appears this GZ area is closed off permanently, and there are surveillance cameras in use.
Thanks anyway, ahomburg.

For someone unfit like me, this was a bit of a hike up the hill. Took the opportunity to have a break while searching for the cache. TFTC.
I've run around here quite a bit, and while I'm never really lost, most of the time I don't really know exactly where I am. Cache is in great condition just of the track. Giddy up
Third cache of the day on today’s Dandenong walk, part of our lockdown quest to walk every track on the hill.
TFTC and for the pencil lol

It’s a great walk- my 7 year old did an amazing job walking up Chandlers and navigating to this geocache
GPS had me looking under all the wrong trees... found after a quick search TFTC
TFTC. Phone signal was lacking so made it tough to pinpoint ground zero. Lots of possibilities but found it and made the find TFTC
A nice easy find on a very satisfying walk that began with the 1000 Steps.
It really is beautiful around here. TFTC

Phew! That is some exercise coming up from the last cache at the bottom of this track! Good walk and an easy find with views nearby though. Thanks.
Tftc - it wad screwed on so tight, I thought it was a dummy and moved on. Circled back and ended up using my muscles. TB taken
I came from the NW which included a bit of easy bush bashing. Cache in in excellent condition. Thank ahomburg. I still have a lot to go!
Enjoyed the hike but next time we’ll start at the top and not the bottom of the mountain
Catching up on some logs. Up here again for my daily walk, and another cache. Hoping to keep the streak alive, but it didn't last much linger after this cache. TFTC
Found as part of my 12km caching run through the park. This area was quite different compared to other parts of the park. More open and a lot more rock. Quick find again. TFTC
The walk here was enjoyable, with a flock of birds chatting to me as I went past. A quick find had me retracing my steps a bit, before heading down hill for a few more caches. Tftc.
On a mission before I leave Melbourne to find a clutch of caches in this little pocket of the forest. Have not been here for donkeys years. Not sure I covered ground in the most efficient way but had grabbed the MT bike and managed most of the hilly country. Nice to be back after a few decades. All caches found quickly enough. TFTC and series. I’ll be back!
#1585 - 5.10pm
While being read a book, I scaled the mountain and struggled to find the cache until I resorted to the clue. Sorry for the late cache log.

Somehow this is a green dot all on it's own. Today is the day for an afternoon walk to get some fresh air and one smile. I end up doing a loop walk and I even went the right easy way. It is always great to get another DM. One day I will tick off the full hundred. I guess the rock stack is to show the best way in??
Dad definitely needs the exercise. And so does 14yo, to hear the huffing and puffing on our Dandenong trip.
What a stunning location and great spot to stop for a few minutes to enjoy the sunshine. Kookaburras and currawongs came to check us out and the bellbirds sang in the distance.
Grabbed the big and will move it on soon.
Ahh well, back down hill to the car now, to rejoin civilisation. Thanks for the trip back to nature.

TFTF. Lovely spot, so close to home that I’ve never been to. Pen ran out of ink so had to scratch in the entry, sorry
Out early this morning to grab more of the meander series, the rain held out long enough for me to get what I wanted without getting too wet. As I was meandering I wondered 2 things: 1. If someone blindfolded ahomburg and dropped him into a random spot in the Dandenongs, would he be able to tell you whereabouts he was? I reckon he could. 2. If a bushfire swept through the Dandenongs (god forbid) as has happened before, how long would it take ahomburg to replace all of his caches? I reckon 3 solid days. Thanks again for this series ahomburg, a great excuse to get out of the house into nature TFTC!
Found on 13 February 2018 at 1:42:34 pm. Find #2467. Holy hell that was a steep climb... and to top it all I have already been here and when geosphere crashed I lost this logged find .... damn it.. anyway I have enjoyed the fitness and the steep climb. Cache in perfect dry condition.
Thanks for the adventure.
Thanks for the adventure.
K8_98 and I had a lot of 'fun' climbing the long hill to this cache. However, we eventually made it to GZ and scored a quick find.
Went for a walk today to find some geocaches. This was my first find. It was a fairly easy find. Very nice spot here with the scenery. Great spot. Thanks for the cache
Golly. What a climb. As we approached the nearing GZ I told the kids that, considering the effort we exerted to get here, we would not be leaving without the smiley attached to our name. For a few moments we had a wild chase with GPS and there were many places that matched the hint. Allowing some time for the GPS to settle and some clever sleuthing, the cache was able to be found and signed. Thanks for the workout!

Used to run and powerwalk up this hill some years ago. Clearly not the fine physical specimen I used to be. Still made it however. My only regret is that I didn't have time to get some of the others nearby, so will have to do the climb again. I reckon the views at night are just as good as the daytime ones. Tftc
At first I thought this hill is the highest in the closest sourrounding, so I setted it as my goal, after One Tree Hill I had to decrease to here Anyway I took a peak/top picture. TFTC
I decided to take a meander through Ferntree Gully today to climb the 1000 steps and get some fresh air. A total of 21 finds with no DNFs. This was #14 for the day. After the last cache this was a big hike back up the hill.
Yep - always a concern when you see a DNF from a prolific cacher, but the back story was most reasonable, and certainly didn't apply today. Cache found and in good order. TFTC!
A nice early walk around the Dandenong Ranges National park with Clint. The weather wasn't too bad considering when we arrived there was heaps of rain and lightning which stopped before we set out.
(thankfully). With the rain, we were happy we didn't have the same problems as the Rustys. At the GZ I can see why they were reluctant to look given the legless lizard sliding about. The cache is certainly there and in good order. Signed and only one more cache for the day.

We were wandering effortlessly (read as puffing and groaning) up the darn hill when Di jumped out of the way like she was having a fit. "Is that....? Nooo......Yesssss!!!!" she exclaimed.
Only an hour earlier she had asked the question "Do you ever see any snakes on your geocaching walks?"
"Nah, I've never seen one" I replied.
So, Di had jinxed us and there, in front of our feet, was a snake laying across the path. I'd like to say that it was huge and we wrestled it out of the way while it whipped around, striking at our throats. But in reality it was only about 30cm long and thin as a twig. It wouldn't move.....even when we squirted water on it. We wondered if it were dead but it didn't look injured and it had its eye on us.
Anyway, I quickly lost my off-track geocaching mojo, so when it came to finding this cache I really didn't give it any effort. I think I was brave enough stomping through the snake pit to get to GZ, but there was no way that I was sticking my hands in any hidey-holes. I stood atop some rocks and glanced around in the hope that someone had left the cache lying out in the open. But nope! Happy to call it a DNF for now.

Found while on a hike around One Tree Hill....good views of citydown-hill of cache. Took Photos left nothing.
Last geocache of the day and I realise I've been dating the logbook wrong! :/
Took a child's ring, left a carabiner.

Found while walking up and down tracks in the Dandenongs, looking for DM caches and other ones nearby. Great sunny day for a walk in these lovely hills.
I had been following some hikers through this area. I'm fairly sure they were wondering why I kept dropping back and then catching up with them again, over and over, making them feel slightly uneasy each time. After finding this well-concealed cache I caught up with them for the last time, finally overtaking them. They were consulting a map at that stage. "Maybe we should just follow this bloke - he seems to know where we're going" one of them said. They seemed to do so. Thanks ahomburg!
Quick easy find tftc on this nice cool sunny day with the 2 and a half year old geo kid
While Kay was meditating on a log I searched frantically.
Turns out she had found it quite a while ago and didn't want to tell.
Cache was in great condition.
Thanks ahomburg.
Chiefton!!!

Out cleaning up some of unfound caches in the 10k and I found myself back in a familiar region. Really like this particular spot and the cache had excellent cover, thanks for the hint. A great spot to cap off a mini milestone too. [^]
So that's another ticked off the DM todo list but probably another 20 to go. Fun times Now to get back to the gate before it shuts.

A beautiful day for a meander around the Dandenong Ranges. Having seen the total chaos at the 1000 steps it was lovely to walk around this area away from the maddening crowds. It's amazing to think if ypu walk just a couple of km away from there you effectively have the area to yourself.
I was surprised to see that this cache hadn't been found for over a year. Considering this, the cache is in fine condition. As I emerged back on to the track I saw an older gentleman walking down the track towards me. Having then walked in the direction he had come from (i.e. down, down, and a bit further down again) I salute your effort! TFTC!

Out hiking around the hills today to escape from the horse race that is going on. A lovely hike up and down the mountain a few times to collect a good series of caches. Other than the 2 DNF's. All were where they should be. Sometimes a bit out on the coords due to the hills but otherwise great. Thanks for the hides.
So now that I am pretty tired and have gone up and over and down and up and down I may as well push it up one more time. This track did seem like a longer slog than the others...probably because it was. Then of course once close-ish to GZ the GPSr was all over the place given the rain and the trees so reference to the clue mostly just gave me more cause for ranting....oh sure...base of a tree....I mean how many large trees could there possibly be around here? (For the record my GPS said there were 6.) Eventually though, I did find the right one just as the GPS decided to behave itself. Probably would have been more efficient to simply use my eyes.
I am sure that ahomburg considers the 800m uphill slog to reach this cache as just another pleasant meander, but I can assure you that Geoturtle37 and I had some completely different adjectives in mind by the time we had puffed and panted our way to the top in several stages. A brief search at gz soon turned up the cache from its very nifty hide. Log signed, cache re stashed, and off to our next target. Thanks (I think) for giving us the incentive to tackle this uphill battle and thanks for the cache.
