Found on a trip down south to the Dunedin Mega with trayc.gsigned as MrMuggle or MM to save room..Thanks to the COs for all your caches. We had a blast. Answers sent to CO via trayc.g. Pic is attached. TFTC
This earthcache was needed to try and find as many geocache types as possible in a day, it was here that I finally bet my own record of 6. Made my way to GZ just as the rain set in. Again. It was a real shame as I'm sure on a fine day, the views on this drive are stunning
#22928 @1135In NZ / Dunedin to attend Geo Toroa. Today was focused on the peninsular, collecting challenge caches and other cache types. Information collected and submitted. TFTC.
Day 3 of my whirlwind visit to New Zealand.Today I teamed up with barb2e, SmittenGranny, Joolay, Kittykatch, GrimRaider and Icybeetas. We signed the caches as ACD (Australian Cachers in Dunedin) and went out on the Otago Peninsula. We had done a lot of puzzle solving in the months up to the GeoToroa Mega.Today's weather was variable and not as wet as yesterday.Answers have been sent in.TFTC
Lots of slippage in NZ. Thats cause they have the awesome hills and fabulous views. Answers sent to CO.Weather still grey, rainy and cold.Day 6 and more picking up with isopeda, Icybeetas, Kittykatch, Smittengranny, Grimraider and barb2e. Signing as ACD-Aussie Cachers Dunedin, or names. Mega Day.Finally back in NZ and this time for a Mega. Starting in Christchurch before heading south. Lots to see and do with Kittykatch and Grimraider. Will be joining with others as the days go on.Thanks for getting me out and about The Rats
Collecting solved puzzles and completed challenges on the penisula. Down for the mega. Please excuse the generic log. Thanks for placing each and every on of your caches, including those I can't solve or can't find.
Back home in Taranaki after a massive 5 days at the Dunedin Mega with MrMuggleNZ and its time to start logging my findsall 226 of themso wish me luck. Only 2 DNFs the whole time we were here so thats a testament to the dedication of the local cache owners and their maintenance prior to this event. Day 4Its officially Mega day and today my goal is to re-visit Mega HQ, finish off the Albatross Series and also break my record of cough, cough 5 types in a day..I know terrible right!? I hope to double that today. This cache will go towards the Earthcache type I need. Answers sent to CO..thanks for placing this to teach us something about this spot.
We visited the landslip site off Portobello Road in Broad Bay, Dunedin. Good to see the slip has now been stabilised. At last, the day of the Dunedin Mega dawned, and most of the Aussie crew from Canberra met up early this morning. After enjoying friends' old and new company, we completed the Gadget caches. Then it was off to finish the Albatross series, which we had worked on for weeks in preparation for our visit, as well as a few other targeted caches along the way.Thankfully, the weather was much kinder to us today, and to cap it all off, we found every cache we tried for. Please excuse the generic logs. The caches were all great and in excellent condition, especially considering the weather that Dunedin has been experiencing. All caches were signed as ACD, Australian Cachers in Dunedin, which included Isopeda, barb2e, Kittykatch, Joolay, Grimraider, Icybeetas and myself. After signing duties were completed, the caches were rehidden where found. All COs are to be congratulated on their contributions to our game. Thanks for the cache.Answers to follow.
Four Swedish ladies driving around in NZ looking for caches and events. We found this and langanfans send answer for all of us. Thank you for showing us.
We are four ladies from Sweden who are visiting Australia and New Zeeland We are logged as TULP This was one of the caches we found Thanks from Sweden
Hlsningar frn Sverige, sdra Lappland ???? Then it was time for a little adventure. The trip goes to Sydney in Australia ???? and then on to Christchurch and Dunedin in New Zealand ????.On the trip are, Tigertassen, myself, ursus67, Lnganfans and Pidjas go, which means that we log under the common name "Tulp". The idea is that before we go home we should have visited a Megaevent, Geo Toroa. Greetings from Sweden, southern Lapland ????
We are four ladies from Sweden on visit in New Zealand. We log as TULP (tigertassen, ursus67, lnganfans and pidjas). Today we visited the welcome event, did some Adventure labs and talked to people. After that we went for a tour to log solved mysterys before going back to the CITO.A big Thank You to CO for the cache.
Visited earth cache in weather that causes slips send answers and here is the best i can do with the photo
'We' is Juty Bug from Taranaki, Amandaro from Netherlands/Norway and I from Manawatu. After the opening Event JB & I offered AMRO a ride back to her accommodation - as a freeUber. Having accomplished that mission AMRO joined us geocaching for the rest of the day.Pursuing 10 cache types in a day requires an Earthcache, so here we are in constant drizzling rain. Very wet under foot. Will it slip?Answers sent to CO. Thanks for the opportunity.
Wow, there were quite a few slips visible on the side of Portobello road driving out here. Of course only three weeks ago Dunedin had massive rains and flooding so nature sure is making a mark.I came out here today with two generous geocachers who offered me a ride to my accommodation after the opening event, and some field puzzle ALs, and we ended up doin this earthcache and many more caches. Thanks to Juty Bug from Taranaki and Phronimos from Manawatu I had a great caching adventure! Answers have been sent to the CO
15:02FITW ObnoxiousSpaceCat, DimepodoreWe decided to do a bit of a mission out to the peninsula, after doing all the gadgets at Mega. Targetting different cache types had left us needing an earthcache, and, surprisingly, there's not a whole lot of ECs around Dunedin. This was one of the closest, easily accessible ones.No problems with the questions. Nice to have an easy EC for a change, and not one where you are feeling like you are writing a masters thesis in geology.Answers sent.Kia ora! ???? Paldies! ????Thanks for the cache, The Rats!#11472
While down in Dunedin for the Mega event we travelled up the south coast to Portobello and we visited this site along with the memorial seat that is here. it is interesting how man so often has caused these slips ( very bumpy road over peat as at Palmerston North ) and in this case just removing all the fauna from the hill side whoes roots hold together the soil , as can also been see this weekend along this road after the heavy rainfall that occured 2 weeks previous thank you for this earth cache and the answers will be sent to C O and photo .
Day 1 of Mega caching! Started with an event, then some albatross puzzles (and anything else we spied on our way), and finally a very wet CITO! A lot of fun had in spite of the weather. TFTC!
A very busy start for the Mega weekend with geofriends from Qld and one from NSW. Teamed with Bluewattle, chamad, Wollaston, Willis007, kolour, Ardom, and all logs were signed as QLD+1.Group answers have been emailed to CO.Thank you, The Rats, for placing this earthcache.
Out and about with friends from Brisbane - here for the fabulous Dunedin Mega. We found lots of great caches including pre-solved puzzles, geoart, multis, trads and oldies. Group (QLD+1) answers have been sent to the CO. Thanks for the interesting Earthcache. Ive come across quite a few slips in NZ during my many visits!
Found with dimedopore and ivss_xx. Taking this Mega opportunity to get 10 cache types in a day!
I visited the area and learnt all about the landslip and why it happened. A great restoration job has been done. Answers have been sent to the C. O.
A plan was hatched quite a while ago when the Dunedin Mega was announced to come over to the South Island again.I have only been to New Zealand twice before and I loved the South Island. So a chance to come back for a Mega was a no brainer for me.Everything was booked and I flew in last Saturday after a bit of a delay. So a drive from Oamaru to Dunedin yesterday and I had finally arrived at Mega central Dunedin. So Day 7 of my Mega NZ trip begins and I have teamed up with Roaming Howie again so lets go find a few more caches around the area.We are planing on being on the Otago Peninsula for the day doing some Geoart and any other caches that we stop at.We made our way up the hill and just by looking around you would not notice that something happened here back the.Read the info and worked out was was needed.Answers have been sent to the CO.Thanks The Rats TFTEC.
I investigated this Earthcache today, and enjoyed sitting in the lovely clearing at the top of the path before heading into the woods to find the other nearby cache. The information was very clear and accessible, although I'm not sure about the altitude (I think my phone does it, but it's new so who knows). Answers sent in, tftc!
Whet out on the peninsula in the morning and made my first stop here, great place. Thanks for the cache./herrFamaxe from Sweden
I visited this site yesterday while caching in the area. Muggle-hubby and I are visiting from Queensland, Australia for a few days so that he can play basketball in the New Zealand Masters Games. When Im not watching him play, Im attempting to grab as many opportunities as possible to find caches on my hit list. I have 42 caches on my list. All to possibly find in 4 days. I doubt Ill get there, because I have to be an obedient and attentive wifelol, but Im intending to give it my best shot.On my list are Oldies, Challenge Caches, Letterboxes, Virtuals, Whereigos and whatever other caches are en route, as long as I have the time. This was a really interesting area that I would have driven past, had I not known of this earthcache. Good learnings for me here. Thanks, The Rats, for drawing my attention to this phenomenon. Answers sent separately.
Visited here today and enjoyed learning about the restoration project involved with halting more land slips
Interesting read. Landslips are indeed very common in NZ, as we discovered over the past year living here. Luckily we have not directly been affected (yet) but we have seen the effect of them all over the country. Answers sent to CO. Thanks for the cache!
Email answers sent, ten favs one watcher. We remember the Abbotsford landslip as we would regularly travel to Dunnas to visit the deputy mayor driving along the old south road through Green Island but hadn't ventured far around the peninsular to know this had happened here too. An auntie had property on Musselburgh Rise having built on volcanic rock bluff looking down on the quarry where a retirement village was constructed. Similar to the solid ground at our residence up Mt Grand, yep living on the lip of the biggest volcano looking down on Otago harbour. I kinda miss the flat plains of Waikiwi soils where we could look down on the rivers flooding Southland so I have adapted to living on top of a big hill! even with October Snow! We no longer have Stewart Is sheltering us from the big blues coming up from under Australia so catch the brunt of the Southerlies.Visited the site a while ago with no.1 hubby, a bit wet under foot, the lawns are soggy and too wet to lay down a picnic blanket. No views of the bay but a picnic table would've been nice to sit down at. Walked around the loop starting under the bigger trees before finding the older track to the traditional cache all the noobs banged and reset the PVC prison that needs a good tamping down. CO not having re-visited the glade since the Gangsters banged Dunnas in the '12 Mega. Collected the info to correlate the earthcache from the signs catching the typo that hasn't been corrected although device danced around for the Alt reading. Snagging the '23 International Earth Cache Day [s](https://www.geocaching.com/souvenir/?guid=061df316-8e0b-4a9a-bb17-9bf3de43c958)ouvenir. Why some cowards make their earthcaches premium [only](https://coord.info/GC7439C) spoils the game for everybody. Thankyou for making your earthcache free for everyone.
Arlin and I visited the slip today and read the information sign.
TFTC, this is our 8th different type today. A lovely sunny spot here on the seat by the sign, to send our answers and log this cache.

We wanted to visit the Otago Peninsula before leaving Dunedin. The sky was still cloudy, at least it had stopped raining and after a while the sun made its appearance.
Stopped here and were happy to see, that the worst could be avoided.
Thank you for showing us this place

Found on the way back from visiting Taiaroa Head.
I had never heard of the Broad Bay Landslip before, and so this was an interesting earthcache to do. The depiction of the slip in the cache page was an eye opener!

Yet another interesting Earthcache found on a dreek morning.
Many thanks for the cache.
Many thanks for the cache.
On a tour of the area getting some caches for a challenge. I have not been out this way for long time. nice bit of local history. Thanks.
We were on our way back to our motel after spending the day out on the peninsular. The information board was interesting as we would never have known about a landslip if it hadn't been there. It was getting a bit dark by this point so we didn't get to explore any further, but we will be back again.
On our way to the peninsula, we decided to stop and explore this landslide. The pictures and explanation were impressive. It is great to see what has been done to stabilise the area. On the track, a dog scared us. He was just standing there, out of nowhere, and we were not expecting him at all. After the first in the line screamed, and just looked at us and walked away, peacefully.
Have been to this lovely, peaceful location quite a few times. Have sent answers to CO. TFTC.
I remember the muddy landslide well. A lot of hard work by many people has turned this place into a very interesting secluded gem.
Answers sent. Started raining as I was driving out to get this one. Bit slippery getting to GZ, but I had to do it today. I have saved it for a Sunday as the parking area is being used as a truck turning area for the roadworks at other times. Also, needed a “B” titled cache before the end of September for a challenge. Rain coming in heavy now - luckily got back to the car beforehand! Tftec.
Finally got around to this. Have been here several times and for one reason or other have not completed it.
Nice and sunny for a walk. Take car parking used by turning lorries.
An interesting site.
An interesting site.
There is nothing worse than taking notes for an earth cache and then misplacing them. Luckily for me I managed to find them again, hence the late logging. I'm sure that I've been up the track here before to get quite and old cache that was located along the fence line. A pleasant spot to drop in on. Thanks for the cache.
Interesting to highlight our fragility. Found with mr c on our travels from the UK thank you
Found with MrsC on our NZ travels from the UK. A nice day out on the Otago Peninsula, thanks
I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.
Many thanks to all owners

It's geocaching that shows where to find these special places you so easily pass by in everyday life. Simple, scenic and educational. It was a pleasure to add to my general and local knowledge. Thank you the Rats
This was an enjoyable short walk to the information board to read about this event. We then completed the loop walk before seeking out the other nearby cache.
Thank you The Rats for bringing me to this spot.

Visited here to check out this landslip and the info board here. Enjoy earth caches and what they teach me and this is no exception. Your cache page is great explaining lots more about landsides I did not know. Cheers. Fav from me.
Easter Sunday 21 April - Exploring Dunedins amazing Southern Peninsular today. Zara is resting up at Harwood.
Its another awesome geoventure to Dunedin, with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby, Jack, Jill and William all along for the trip. Had a wonderful 10 days exploring Dunedin. It was great catching up with local cachers at several events we attended. Lots of walking and driving, with the odd cycle and wave ride to jazz things up. Thanks to all the COs that made this trip a wonderful success. Even managed to bag some lab caches along with wherigos, earth caches and events, with the usual mix taking us to some amazing places..

I must admit I didn't realise this was the landslip. I though we might be coming up here for a view of somewhere else. As always, nice information on the cache page and at GZ, so this gets a favourite.
Taybeedragon and I have an eleven day Easter weekend in Dunedin. Although, let's face it, given that we are from Blenheim and Picton that means two of those days was spent in travelling. In that time we grabbed a smidge over three hundred caches. Not bad, considering the amount of time spent way out on the back roads, on bicycles or canoeing on the water. A few virtuals, larges, letterboxes, earths, wherigos, and even ten lab caches in the haul. An awesome weekend!

During our holiday in New Zealand we have visited both the North and the South Island. We saw a lot of highlights of this beautiful country, but there is so much more to see. So many highlights, so many caches! The geocaches showed us a lot of special and interesting places. Sometimes a quick find, sometimes we had to search longer. A few DNF's, but that doesn't matter. We loved New Zealand and we hope to come back some day!
Today we have found the cache "Broad Bay Landslip". Thanks for the lesson!
The Rats, thanks for creating and maintaining this cache!

We came past here on our recent holiday (February 2020) and I said to GK that we had found the answers to the questions for this earth cache a long time ago but it does not show that we have found it. So I made a note to check it out when we got home. Sure enough I sent the answers to the cache owner in January 2019.
So now that I have checked all that out I am logging it as a find even though it was over a year since we were last here.
Thanks for placing this earth cache and thank you for the smiley

**This was 1 of 18 caches that was found by me on the 5th of 19 days in New Zealand.**
**Which also was the 58th of 75 days that my travels thru southeast Asia and Oceania would last.**
I must admit that I had expected an completely different kind of environment that the parklike once that are here. Luckily I live on an part of the world where landslides are very rare.
The answers did I send via Message center on December 9th.
*During 19 days I traveled from Christchurch to Auckland in an SUV, that i also slept in during most of the nights. 5.956 km of driving did it take to visit the 351 caches that I have marked as found in c:geo.*
*Earthcaches was my main focus during the stay. And I manage to visit 106 of them. So New Zealand is right now the only country where earthcaches are my most found cache type .*

Today's main aim was the Albatross Center. On the way there we looked for some caches. It was very informative to read all the information in the cache description and on the information board. We didn't know about this and learnt a lot again here. The needed information was found and sent to the cache owner. Thank you for bringing us to this place. TFTC and greetings from Switzerland

#6050. Day No.2 of my long weekend in Dunedin. I had a workshop down here on Thursday and Friday and decided it was too good an opportunity to not stay on and do some geocaching. So booked a couple of nights accommodation at the Top 10 campground and picked up a rental car. After a day of wandering around Flagstaff, Sundays agenda is a CITO event and a trip out onto the Peninsula. Saw there was an earthcache here so stopped to do that as I really like doing earthcaches. Interesting reading about the land slip and what has been done to fix the problem. Some useful extra information as well in the cache description. Have emailed the answers to the CO. Thanks for setting up the earthcache The Rats.
Cache # 4,145 - a lovely little area that has certainly come back a long ways from when the event first happened. Had a nice, if warm, time with CelloJoss here. Answers sent to CO. Thank you for a most interesting earthcache!

Consecutive caching day # 1,725
Thanks for taking me to a place I have passed many times and never knew the history.
The first cache on our trip up the peninsula - this is a pleasant little park. Weed control was going on as we found the required information.
First full day in New Zealand so decided to explore the peninsula. Followed the path up to the noticeboard and examined the landslip. Noticed lots of land slippage as we continued along the peninsula, so obviously quite a problem here
Always enjoy venturing out on the peninsula. Even better when combining it with a spot of caching and learning a bit more about this slice of paradise we live in. TFTC
A Sunday drive down the Peninsula with the main intention of this EarthCache for International EarthCache Day. Have been here previously but with a DNF on the nearby traditional. Today I got the required info for this one and then a short walk and this time an easy find of Memorial Seat. Really enjoyed this one and my day down the Peninsula TFTC
Because of this eartchache day we went to Otago Peninsula which was a lovely walk. All assignments were not hard to find and we sent the answers to the co.
Of course, every earthcache gets a favo of us.
The Rats, Thank you for showing this beautiful environment.

Logging in anticipation of answers being correct - surprisingly, I'd not been up here yet, and when an excuse to go came up I decided to saunter up. Landslips are a lot more frequent around here than I'd imagined, it seems - I guess that's the cost of living in a hilly, mountainous region. Cheers!
Went and found the other cache first then had a walk around the tracks. Put coordinates in for this and had to laugh where it took me.
Interesting information on the cache page.

Out caching on the Otago Peninsula today. We stopped at Broad Bay and visited the landslide earthcache site to gather some information. Thanks for an interesting and informative earthcache.
My wife and I spent four days in Dunedin. It took us two days to explore the Otago Peninsula. We found "Broad Bay Landslip" at the end of the second day. We made our observations and enjoyed the view from the cache. Thanks for this informative earthcache!
On our way to the albatrosses we made lots and lots of stop, what a beautiful road! This was one of the first ones as I suddenly realized there was an EC on the spot. Got the info required and email is sent. Thanks for placing this one and for the lesson, greetings from Sweden!
It was a long caching day. Together with Lady Murazor we reached the southernmost point of our New Zealand trip finding quite a few geocaches along our way and admiring excellent views. Fortunately the weather was better than yesterday. So it was a very good start of the next year! Well, tomorrow there's a time to head back north, our stay here is not as long as we would like it to be.
This was an EarthCache rich day! 6 of them if I count correctly and this one was the last of them.
Thank you for this cache and greetings from Kraków Poland!
Happy New Year 2017!

Earthcache day! Had to find one that could be done after work....I thought this slip was going to be on the road beyond Broad Bay, site of recent stabilistaion works, but no, there was a much earlier one. How many times have I driven past this spot and never stopped to go up there? Glad I did.
After visiting the other side of the peninsula, I came here and had a look for this interesting earthcache.
Nice idea, glad that the slope seems to be stable now.
Thanks for creating this one!

Because of a blocked road I had to drive a detour and ended up here. Just by coincidence I realized there was an earthcache here! Great!
I quite like them!
And this is a nicely done and informative listing with easy-to-answer questions.
I wouldn't have known about that landslide without geocaching...
TFTEC!

Visited this landslip today and read the information board which supplied us with most of the required answers. What an amazing turnaround the remedial work has caused in such a short space of time.
TFTC for this earthcache and greetings from Scotland.

The rain stopped, so it was just good to go for this cache. The photo's on the board were interesting and through the questions you read a bit more about what has happened. This was all very interesting.
When at home, reading and watching the geocache was more of interest.
Thank you for putting a earthcache up here and does realize how fast (and rude) the nature can be.
