We have been fortunate to visit some great caches here in NZ and this one is up there with the best of them. Thanks for showing us this beautiful little spot, definitely worthy of a favourite point. Visited with rumpuslabs, tftc
I flew into Christchurch yesterday afternoon for a 3-week bucket list road trip around South Island. I'm spending the first couple of nights in Christchurch, though, since I have a couple of things to sort out before I go ... and naturally enough, I took the opportunity to find a few caches as I moved around town during the day. This earthcache epitomises what I love about geocaching ... being taken somewhere I would never otherwise have seen. This place doesn't show up in tourist guides and there's no signage indicating there's something special here ... it's only known to and by those in the know. And as it turned out, those in the know includes a group of Maori ladies who were performing some sort of dance or ceremony beside the pond. So, in addition to learning about bubbling sticks, I was lucky enough to also experience some local culture here ... so thank you very much for bringing me here today justmeg. Fave point awarded for this double hit!

We are four ladies from Sweden on visit in New Zealand. We log as TULP (tigertassen, ursus67, lnganfans and pidjas). Today we visited some last caches before leaving New Zealand.A big thank you to CO for the cache.
We are four ladies from Sweden who are visiting Australia and New Zeeland We are logged as TULP This was one of the caches we found Thanks from Sweden
Hlsningar frn Sverige, sdra Lappland Then it was time for a little adventure. The trip goes to Sydney in Australia and then on to Christchurch and Dunedin in New Zealand .On the trip are, Tigertassen, myself, ursus67, Lnganfans and Pidjas go, which means that we log under the common name "Tulp". The idea is that before we go home we should have visited a Megaevent, Geo Toroa. Greetings from Sweden, southern Lapland
Four Swedish ladies driving around in NZ looking for caches. Ursus67 send answer for all four of us. Thank you. We are happy we did not meet Karon.
A trip over the dittecch and I'm in the land of the big white cloud. Yep, Made it to Christchurch and onto Dunedin for a week of caching. DAY TWO (23/10). An early start with a breakfast meetup and then onto some caching. We had a list of general caches and the main priority will be the web Cam. It does seem as this one is a little different to the traffic cams around Europe. Today it was Bluewattle, Snickersallan, Wollaston and myself touring around town. There are seven or eight or more types on the list so it will be a busy day. The final for the night is a dinner event, but there is always time for one more. After our morning event it was on to the day of caching and this was one that was on the list. Thanks for the placement and we had a little fun here searching and signing the log. Thanks for the cache. Man I could have stayed here all day and sat and watched the bubbling. That water was so refreshing, What an awesome spot, thanks.
Outnabout with Chamad, Snickersallan & Bluewattle on my first ever trip across the ditch. After a week of caching around Brisbane and at events last month with other Geo friends, I couldnt pass up the opportunity to hop on board for a NZ Mega adventure. Another great day for caching. TFTC justmeg
Answers sent via WollastonThanks for placing and maintain for our enjoyment Found with Snickersallan, Wollaston and chamadVisiting Christchurch for a few days before heading down to attend Geotora Mega
Touring around with Aussie geo friends for a few days in Christchurch and picking up a few solved puzzles and selected others on our to-do list.Absolutely loved viewing this magical earthcache, and our group answers have been sent to CO by Wollaston. Thank you, justmeg, for this very interesting earthcache, a favourite point from me.
A plan was hatched quite a while ago when the Dunedin Mega was announced to come over to the South Island again.I have only been to New Zealand twice before and I loved the South Island. So a chance to come back for a Mega was a no brainer for me.Everything was booked and I flew in yesterday after a bit of a delay.Im staying at the old Offices Mess building at the old Airforce Base and it is a wonderful old building.Day 2 begins so lets go find a few caches.A very interesting spot here that you would not have known about except for a dot on our map.It would be nice here on a very warm day.Answers have been sent to the CO.Thanks justmeg TFTEC.
Found with Sally interesting spot would never have known it was here if earthcache not created.
Thanks for bringing us here. Would not have known about this place otherwise. Found with andyfreya. Beautiful day to check this place out. Another family here with boys playing and soaking their feet in the cold water.
We visited here (along with some supervised smaller kids) while visiting the city soon to be home again. After some reading and research, sent the answers to the CO. What a cool place. Like a cooler, less smelly mini Rotorua.
Sent answers to CO, thanks for bringing us to this lovely peace ful spot, train was a bit noisy! TFTEC
This was super awesome. Its so tucked away I would have never found this on my own. Thanks!
What a fun cache and see all the bubbles. Thanks for the cache./herrFamaxe from Sweden
What a cool little place! I dont know why I never bothered coming by before. Its a relaxing spot to sit for a bit (and that rope swing looks like heaps of fun). Thanks for bringing me here. This is my Earthcache find for my leap day circuit.
We came out today to get a different type of cache for Leap day. Loved it here and watched for quite some time as fascinated and most enjoyable. Really enjoyed seeing this and learning more at home. Thanks for showing us this bubbling sticks. Answers sent to CO. Thanks for this Earthcache justmeg.
Going for a little spin around the neighbourhood on the bike, and I targeted a few caches on my travels. This was a nice little spot. They have also put some seating here so you can chill out and watch the springs to their thing. Great idea for an earthcache, I wonder how many of the locals dont even know it here.TFTEC justmeg.
What a super place which deserves another favourite point. It has been on my radar for ages and today we came here so that I could do an earthcache required for this month's challenge. There were some teenagers sitting on the steps dangling their feet in the pool and enjoying the water despite the fact that it was a cool nearly autumn day, maybe around 15 or 16 degrees C. We didn't disturb each other and I soon had all the answers I needed for the earthcache. It is a very cool place and is a surprise to find a haven like this in the suburbs of the city. Thanks for bringing us here.
Day 1on our holiday in New Zealand. We visited the spot of this Earth Cache. We made the requested photo, and added it to the log. Of course we searched for the answer,s and sent it to the CO.

***T4T$ - Many thanks to justmeg for this Earth Cache, and showing us this new spot for us***. ️

This is my fourth geocaching excursion to **beautiful New Zealand**!
Due to Covid [xx(] I had to wait for 3 long years to again return to my beloved Middle-Earth [xx(].
This time it was a road trip enduring for 26 days, covering both North- and South-Island.
All good things must come to an end .
Today is the last caching day in Christchurch [B)]...
This geo-treasure contributed to the finds of today. Cool! [^]
A great earth-cache, bringing me to a very peaceful place [^], that I would have never discovered without this silly hobby .
A big thanks to the owner justmeg [:X] for bringing me to this awesome place and for the lesson learned [^]. Best regards from Germany !

Some nice cool water to dip the toes into on a very warm muggy day.
After being stopped by a school patrol on the way here, (i.e. a school day), was surprised to see so many children playing nearby. TFTC

It is good to see quite a number of people enjoying the spring: man, kids, dogs.
Did not want to wade as there was already a wader.
If it was not for an EC I would not have known about this
Thanks

What an interesting place! We enjoyed our visit and learned new stuff about how springs work. Thanks for a cool earth cache.
Team G0LD ( 0B80B8, Lis's crew & DaffyNZ ) on a caching mission to Christchurch. We had travelled down from Whangarei on Wednesday avo. Solved puzzles were going to be the main focus of our trip. We had spent a lot of 2020 and 2021 solving over 400 puzzles, so we had a lot on our list.
On our Big Day Out yesterday, we got reasonably close to our perhaps optimistic target of finding 300 caches in one day. Today then, was going to be spent working on the remaining GeoArt puzzles, to clear as many as possible, before heading home tomorrow.
After heading North from our accommodation, and completing the Rattles GeoArt caches series, it was time to head back for Greg's lunchtime appointment to help family. We couldn't waste any geocaching time though, so Lis and I went for a walk around the block.
This interesting Earthcache was on our loop. Did our counting before a dog walking muggle appeared. Answers sent to CO by Lis. TFT(E)C

Team G0LD: Geocachers 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ are down from Whangarei for a few days. We've all solved the 4 big geoarts so they are the main target for the trip.
Of course there were many other puzzles solved as well. We certainly made a great dent in my solved puzzle list but I'll still have enough for another trip.
We had collected the rattle series this morning and our driver was busy helping his family for an hour or two. So, what to do - a walk around the block caching of course. We met a muggle and his dogs at gz. Luckily we'd done our counting and he asked if we minded his dogs going swimming. Turns out they weren't keen on a swim after all but nice that he asked. It's always interesting to do an earthcache and learn about the area you're visiting. Thanks for the cache

I'm currently down in Christchurch geocaching with my brother tbird 53. Today we ambled around the city picking up a mixture of caches, including this one. I'm working on a challenge to collect 100 earthcaches before the end of the year, so it was convenient to pick this one up, but also it was very interesting and great learning. Fascinating spot, TFTC
Picked up a few caches around Christchurch with pinocchio59 today. Rather miserable weather which did improve somewhat during the course of the day. My “caching companion” (and sister) pinocchio59 did most, if not all, of the donkey work on this one! Earth caches aren’t really my thing if the truth be known. At least this one was more interesting than some of them! #5073. TFTC.
. 1731. 3:19 pm. I was going for 8 different geocache types in a day; unfortunately the webcam cache crashed last night so I have to settle for 7 types in a day. What a cool natural spring! I wish the rest of the crew weren't distracted by the zipline at the playground or the possibilities of lunch so that I could share this cool location and experience with them. TFT(earth)C.
Spotted this Earthcache and thought it might be a fun little diversion to come and find some bubbling sticks
The information has been gathered and sent to the CO.
Loved the location, although the area a little overgrown, and tucked away. The railway bridge seemed a little out of place too!
But spent a little time trying to take pictures and film the bubbling waters. A little bit grey, so not the best light.
Thanks for the Earthcache Justmeg, and for bringing me here

This was a very interesting place to visit. we meet a local who remembers how the local farmer- his uncle- used to put his tyres down here and the gradually disappeared ! the surroundings are thoughtfully designed and it is a lovely place to sit and cogitate .
thank you for bringing us here so we were able to see these springs .

I've been here before, many years ago, when it was just a spring in open land, with no deck and seating, and no planting. It sure has developed!
Thanks for bringing me back!

Thanks for bringing me here, it was fascinating. Answers sent through and photo attached - I see others have had a similar idea...how to take investigate the springs and take a photo with your GPS in it
An interesting spot to visit. I could have stood for ages just watching the water bubble up out of the ground. TFTC.

After caching today in the centre of Christchurch we are starting to move north. We have found caches in the Styx Mill Conservation Reserve on previous visits to Christchurch, but have not visited this location before. Thanks for showing us this bubbling spring. Adding a favourite point.

While is Christchurch we planned to do as many different types of caches all in one day while you have a webcam cache and an event while we are here. We just made the decision to find a near by earth cache and go there. We wasn't planning on it being this amazing. We arrived and was in awe by this little place. Very hidden and not even sign posted but so beautiful and therapeutic to sit and stare at the water. We sit here with a huge smile as we are so glad for Geocaching as it shows us hidden gems that most would miss. Thanks for placing this cache and this is one of the biggest favourite points we've given to a cache since we can remember.
During our vacation in New Zealand we did some geocaching. We saw a lots of amazing places and say thank you to everyone who shared his geocache with us.

In Christchurch for the Otago/Southland raid on Christchurch... as there is no Mega this labour weekend we decided to make our own mini Epic event. Jumped in a car with a few others from Dunedin (Gadget169, KJR and CJ-Curry) and having finished the Eclipse series earlier this afternoon and the smurfs as the sun set, it was time to meet up with others for night caches.
We ended up here after fail of nearby night cache. Was nice to come back here.
***[======== NZ Mega 2020 ========](http://nzmega.com)***
Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](http://nzmega.com) - you won't want to miss it!

Discovered the Bubbling Sticks while looking for a nearby night cache that we failed to find. As we continued along the trail of tacks that suddenly stopped, we thought we can't come all this way to the other side of town without claiming a smiley. Would be great to be here in daylight, but torchlight was just as awesome. Found with Searchwisely, Granville and MrandMrsChosen. Water temperature hard to gauge but Avon during the day felt colder than here at night.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Out doing a nearby cache so we stopped here and spent some time admiring the springs.
A group of us have travelled up from Invercargill to raid a largely untapped area for the long weekend. We met up with some of the Dunedin crew and came out to attempt a night cache nearby (DNF) At 10.30pm we ended up here admiring the springs and watching the tiny fish and the yabby going about their business. Leg's in cast and I'm on crutches... But that's not gonna stop me from going out for the International Earthcache Weekend! Good thing that I have GM as my driver and water temperature measurer when I need it
After the 200m of hopping to GZ I was very pleased to discover the nice seating where I could put my foot up again. This place really is a hidden gem.
We also discovered that there was someone already doing the EC there so we joined forces in counting and estimating.
All in all - great success. Earthcache souvenir - check. Workout on crutches - check. Geocaching yarns - check.

What a fantastic place for an Earthcache! It was mesmerizing watching the bubbling springs. Came out here with my son and bumped into fellow geocacher ivss_xx who is also out for Earthcache Day. TFTC, this one gets a favourite from us
Very nice place, well hidden. Thanks for taking us here, it's impressive the geological feature hidden, just minutes from our new home. Sent answers to cache owner, and spent quite sometime around this morning. The playground has two nice firefox and the trees are really nice, it's a very pleasant place.
A tranquil spot which we would never have discovered otherwise. The spring is fascinating. Thanks for bringing us here. A favourite from us.
Day 25 of our Southern Hemisphere Adventure. Traveling from Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. Woke to mostly gray skies but I did see one good size hole where I could see blue sky. I was hopeful the sun would made an appearance but the clouds won. I Grabbed to pre targeted Earth Caches before leaving ChCh. Then grabbed a few targeted caches around Lake Tekapo. WOW is that a pretty lake! If photos are required they have been posted. If answerers are required they will be sent tonight or tomorrow. Thanks to the COs for playing these great caches for all to find.
After collecting my hire car I made my way out to this earthcache to start my caching day. Answers sent.
An interesting area. Thanks justmeg.
An interesting area. Thanks justmeg.
I had spent yesterday seeking out caches that were a date placed or solved puzzle. I also like to target earth caches as I am working g towards getting a gemstone on project GC. Anyway, I stopped off here approximately 2 minute's after some children arrived, they then proceeded to walk through the area,. bike it and then place a big log right in the middle of the vents. So it made it incredibly hard to find the required information but I gave it a good go. The kids showed no signs of moving on which is a shame because I probably could have stayed here for awhile watching the vents
Thanks for a great cache and introducing me to another hidden gem in Christchurch
**This was 1 of 15 caches that was found by me on the 1st of 19 days in New Zealand.**
**Which also was the 54th of 75 days that my travels thru southeast Asia and Oceania would last.**
Soaking down into an nice bubbling hot spring was have been really great by now. But since I had an event at 1930 o'clock to attend I measured, felt and observed the springs. And probably also sent the answers directly on site.
*During 19 days I traveled from Christchurch to Auckland in an SUV, that i also slept in during most of the nights. 5.956 km of driving did it take to visit the 351 caches that I have marked as found in c:geo.*
*Earthcaches was my main focus during the stay. And I manage to visit 106 of them. So New Zealand is right now the only country where earthcaches are my most found cache type .*
Answers to earthcaches and virtuals did I send in via Message Center close after the visit, or when this log is written in March 2019.

Such a lovely spot. It's relaxing sitting an watching the spring bubbling. TFTC #74
Great place. Have visited this area before when there was another cache hidden here but didn’t realise what earth caches were. Great to come back and visit. Sent email.
What an awesome wee place - thanks for bringing us here.

It might have been a wet miserable day but I really enjoyed this - many thanks. FP given. Responses to questions have been sent. A very interesting EarthCache and well worth the short journey to it.

Visiting from Brisbane with Slow Puncture for the Oamaru Geofest, and we're seeing all the wonderful sights the South Island has to offer as we travel along. Day 4: We said farewell to Oamaru and headed North in the drizzle to Christchurch, with a few sidetrips along the way. After dinner at a great pub nearby, we headed out into the cold and blustery wind to grabbed this EC. A young lady was hangung out here alone but wasn't bothered by our presence.
Thanks for the EC **justmeg**, this find makes #4346. Discover our TB

Monday. Slow Puncture has teamed up with Orange Crew to make a Moreton Bay assault on the Oamaru Geofest. Day Four saw us travel from Oamaru back to Christchurch, with a couple of loop diversions on the way out to the West. This was a surprise in the middle of suburbia. When we visited, there was a young woman siting parallel to the edge, texting. She seemed oblivious to our presence, but I had to talk to her and explain I had to come over near her and test the temperature of the water, for a quiz we were doing.
Instead of treating us like raving lunatics, she was most conversational. In fact, it is her exact words I have answered to the CO for question 3, with which I concur!
This was the 5th of 37 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***justmeg***, for showing us this place. Answers have been provided to the CO.

Visiting Christchurch from the far north for the weekend and found this great spot. As you often find with caches they are hidden away in spots you may not have seen otherwise......answers emailed. Thanks for the cache....
Glad this one was just around the corner from home given the miserable weather today. We've wandered past this spot before on a hot day when it was full of kids spashing about. Quite mesmerising watching the water bubble up out of the ground. Answers have been emailed. Tftc!
We've been saving this one for a time when need an earth cache. Horrible weather today and ended up with very wet feet. Mesmerising watching the little springs and trying to count them!
Little photobomber after we tested the temperature of the water.

#2,899: Earthly Smiley!
I came to this one to qualify for the Earthcache souvenir for today. Since I don't cache for the "find" numbers, this one was still on my unfound list. Excellent area to come to, even on this rainy day. Gets a fav point from me. Haven't seen much of the CO lately, so it would be good to catch up sometime.

#14522. We needed a few finds today, and thought we'd earn a souvenir by finding this earthcache. It's a really interesting spot; well worth a cache. Morning drizzle had turned to light rain, so we didn't linger. TFTC.
We have been to GZ before, finding the now archived trad while doing the nearby night cache. As it was dark at the time, it meant for doing the necessary tasks for this cache was near impossible!
Finally back in the area today. Unfortunately, the weather was cold and rainy so we didn't linger in this great wee hidden spot. Thanks for an informative earth cache. StreetWalker sent answers for both of us.
Cheers, JMG, hope to see you back caching again soon.

Last day in Christchurch before heading home to Oz so Angel and I wandered around grabbing a few caches. All caches found as suggested. TFTC . Angel sent off the answers for us - I really enjoyed this little place!
Cache 3040 on 4/10/17
After a couple of big days collecting some of the DT 81 series and going to Hanmer Springs, Bobl27 and I decided to cruise around Christchurch looking for a few select caches to make 8 different cache types in a day.
This was first off the list, and such a lovely understated spot. We really enjoyed seeing these Springs and doing the logging requirements. Photo attached of us at GZ and answers sent to the CO. FP heading in this direction!
Thanks justmeg for the cache!

My friend and I were out around the city and we thought we'd head out to Woodend for a walk in the pine forest. Ah, relaxing nature. Unfortunately, I had somewhere to be so I thought we should head back into Christchurch. Suddenly, I saw this Earthcache on my map. Had to have a peak. Wow, awesome place. Thank you so much for bringing me here, favourite point for sure!
We still had a few hours before returning our rented car at the International Airport. We took this opportunity to visit this cache. We had our lunch at one of the tables of this well maintained park. We then moved to the cache to make our observations. We had a lot of fun observing the little bubbles. Thanks for this informative earthcache!
I have been in New Zealand alone 25 years ago.
This time i visited down under again with my wife.
We also visited our daughters which were here for 7 months for work and travel.
On our way north, we stopped in christchurch and came to this place.
Thank you very much for this earthcache and many greetings from Germany.

I enjoy earth caches. This one took me to a spot I never knew existed. I managed to measure the water temperature without falling in!! Thanks to all cache owners for taking the time to place and maintain your caches. BJ25.
Had our eye on this one for a while as it's close to home but had never gotten around to it. Earthcache day was the perfect time so set off the the geodog. A family was playing around right at GZ so we took the dog for a walk around the park first. The family were gone when we got back so were able to set about getting the answers. TFTC
Have sent answers to CO.
What a great place to visit. I was rather suprised by the water temperature it definitely wasn't what I was expecting.
A great informative Earthcache and very awesome to be able to visit one of our Natural wonders.
Thanks for bringing me here.
Found with Rayzr2.
Thanx for this earthcache it was an experience I never would of had if I had not been brought here to log this cache...
I did not know the information I have learnt today and appreciate the effort that the co went through to show me one of the marvels available to each of us and we seldom know exists....
Logging this on international earthcache day 2016 thanx to JUSTMEG for bringing me here...
I haven't done many Earth Caches in my time as a Geocacher but I thoroughly enjoyed this one! A fascinating place to relax. Many thanks for taking me here otherwise I never would have known it existed. Definitely earns a favourite point from me Found with Busy Paws.

Enjoyed this exercise and the education I gathered. Worked with Geo Jessie on a beautiful Sunday morning, one family sharing the area with us and probably wondering what on earth we were doing! CO has our answers. TFTC - - - GREAT!
