DNFI feel like the bush has moved a bit, along with some earth, and if the cache wasn't hanging then it's well buried now...I did get the fright of my life from a seal on the beach, that suddenly rose out of nowhere and spoke to me with the voice of Beelzebub.
We gave it a fair go but couldnt find anything. Heaps of seals though. Not sure if we gave them a bigger fright than they gave us.
A bit of a walk and then climbing over some logs and branches at the bottom of the path then a walk along the stony beach. Met some grumpy seals who didnt like their sleep interrupted. An easy find on the other side of the bush. TFTC
Fantastic beach and full of fr seals. Great to watch. For the Pinguin was it the wrong time. Tftc
Found it. When we got to the beach, there were a few seals scattered along the beach. Gave them their space, took some photos, and signed the log book.
Could not find the cache, the beach is eroded quite a lot, difficult to trust the coordinates. But we saw ONE pingouin!
Wow,wow, wow!! As I came down the steps to the beach I was scared to death by two large seals basking at the base! Didn't see any penguins, but I saw a large group of spotted shag which was amazing!! Thank you SO MUCH for bringing me down to this beach!!
Found up on the bank with rocks on top. Also found a wallet that is on its way to the police station
The bank above the beach has fallen away. I found a cache well away from any hint object. This appears to be the original cache found by Bigglesponies. It was a bit exposed so I have attempted to secure it a little more. I am not sure where the replacement cache is?
Well this one was interesting. I found a cache with a logbook which hadn't been signed since 2017. Having checked the online logs I discovered that I had found the original box!
I signed it and put it back as found, and have attached a photo as proof. TFTC.

The right timing for grabbing the 3 caches in the area whilst not disturbing the wee penguins. 2pm just in time! easy find, cool wind but not too bad. Pretty beach thanks for bringing me here fave for it tftc
A dry day for these walks after three days of rain. Loved the views here and gathered some nice shells. Found the cache all good. Thanks for bringing us here and the cache drawp.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on day 3 of our 4 day trip to Oamaru and environs. The day started with a hard frost, but soon warmed up into yet another lovely winters day. The agenda today included Cape Wanbrow, Devil's Bridge plus a puzzle cache find which I needed for my final puzzle "dot" day .
I was pleased that the beach walk was limited to less than 100m as I'm not keen on walking on stones. After SW climbed too far up the bank, he suggested I check somewhere lower, and there was the cache, wedged into a bush. I left it as I found it. TFTC.

#18292. It was a steep descent down to the beach, but the track was in good shape. After reading BaldEd's log about climbing up the bank I followed suit, but it didn't look promising up there, and my GPSr was pointing to something below, so I directed Troodles there (saving her the effort of a fruitless ascent on to the bank) and she quickly made the find. A great location. TFTC.
Was attending the NZ Motor Caravan Assn rally at the racecourse as the morning dawned sorta fine with the promise of showers commencing soon I decide to go cyclocaching before the rain set in.
After walking my bike down the track to Pleurisy I decided that since I had my raincoat on and was going to get wet well before returning to the caravan I might as well, seeing I was close by, go and see if I could find this cache. Ditching the bike, I walked down the steps and along the beach to as close to GZ as I could. After a scramble up onto the grassy bank I spent about 10 mins scrambling around in the lupins and long grass before giving up. As I manoeuvered to return to the beach I spied an old rock below. Certainly worth investigating. After some digging around I found what was an odd pile of stones but there was nothing underneath. Then I spied something a little way above. Glad to have managed to get all 3 of my unfounds at the end of Bushy Beach Rd. Now I can ride back to the racecourse in the rain. TFTC.

During our holiday in New Zealand we have visited both the North and the South Island. We saw a lot of highlights of this beautiful country, but there is so much more to see. So many highlights, so many caches! The geocaches showed us a lot of special and interesting places. Sometimes a quick find, sometimes we had to search longer. A few DNF's, but that doesn't matter. We loved New Zealand and we hope to come back some day!
Today we have found the cache "Bushy Beach (North Otago)".
drawp, thanks for creating and maintaining this cache!

I obviously haven't ticked the enabled box on my Oamaru pocket query because this one showed up on my GPS today as I headed for the Pleurisy Point cache. The track is open so I headed down but despite quite a search on the two likely banks I couldn't see nor stand on the cache. Had the beach to myself though which is always special.
We had the great chance to travel around New Zealand during six weeks and were able to see wonderful cities, landscapes and meet nice Kiwis. While staying in NZ many cache owners gave us the opportunity to search for very well hidden treasures and we thank them very much for preparing and maintaining them.

Hey suggest you disable this one - the track to the beach is cordoned off and closed currently due to a large dangerous slip further down.. we were advised by the penguin guides at the look out that they are waiting for things to dry up so the contractors can get started on repairs....

A good and quick start to the day. We wanted to clear all caches on the coast, but could not find a way in. This was quick and easy, TFTC
It is day three of my Oamaru solo camper van trip . After unsuccessfully looking for Breakwater I decided to head here. LSteamer was dying to see his mates.

Thanks. drawp for putting in the effort to hide this geocache. This was find 4548 for me.

I came along with Nosynel to see my cousins. They didn't show up. Must have been too busy fishing but we found this geocache.
Found on a walk from town along the cliff tops to Bushy Beach and back along the road. I had been to see the penguins several years ago but was not able to get down to the beach at that time as darkness was approaching and access was forbidden at that time due to penguin activity. A quick find today in the first place checked. Signed log, TFTC
Another one of those places you don't know about until you go looking for a cache lovely beach with a solo seal today quick find tftc
Enjoying this South Island trip and had a great time touring the area and collecting caches taking us to some remote locations with tmann421.
Another good find here adding to the fun of our trip. TFTC

Nice walk down to the beach and along until we noticed the hint items.

We failed to find this cache a couple of years ago, but today it was a quick easy find. As we went down the track to the beach, we noticed there were a couple of seals at the north end of the beach, surrounded, rather closely, by Asian tourists, so we checked the south end of the beach before we started along it, but couldn't see any seals. However as we were signing the log, we glanced behind us and noticed a couple of seals not far away! TFTC
I had to go into town for some fresh supplies and decided to find some town caches. Boy, was it cold at the beach today.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Without geochaching we would never have found this old walkway .
Exactly like me , to wander up and right on the precipice .
We found all the boxes except one !!
Thanks for showing this ancient walkway

Today we had to fix our car. So it was the wright day to go for a walk at the coast. With the hint it was an easy found. Thanks
Saw a lone seal sunbathing on the beach near the stairs and then found the cache nearby. A favourite for a great place. Too early in the day for penguins.
A stroll on this lovely beach was the ideal way to end a morning walk. Well, still only 11 am, but with daylight saving ending it was lunchtime by the body clock...
Once daywalk had directed me to the general area I soon spotted stuff out of place and quickly had the cache in hand.
Looked for Paua shells on the beach. Nearly stumbled over a fur seal. It was too early to see penguins, but I found this box.

Very disappointed not to find this cache after seeing four penguins the night before and lots of foot prints in the sand today. No real pile of stones exists within 10 m of the GZ, which itself seems to point to the middle of the beach. Wonder if it is still there.
Found as part of a great day in and around Oamaru. Still reckon this is the best caching area I have ever encountered. Original standard set by Bitsprayer, but now a few others adding to the story. Many thanks to all!
Our GPS was pointing us 15m out onto the sand, didn't want to search in this sensitive area without more accurate coordinates or hint.
Our fifth DNF for the day so far. The coordinates had us in the middle of the beach which wasn’t especially helpful, and we weren’t sure if the cache was accessible from the beach, or if we needed to climb the bank, but neither tactic resulted in success.

Cache checked and appears to have been the victim of high seas. Replaced about 20m from original site.
Lovely golden beach.
No penguins around, we might be too early.
Signed the replacement log

With P&Vee, BigSmoke, PC Sniff I searched high and low for this one, all to no avail.
Went out here to see some penguins but had no luckso maybe next time.We did end up signing two caches and saw some seals as well.TFTC
I and JBG63 took these caches on our holiday to Australia and New Zealand. We went from home on the 5th of January and came back home on the 30th of January. First we stayed in Sydney for four nights and then we went to New Zealand, Auckland. We hired a car and drove up north to Whangarei and around. Then we drove back to Auckland and down to Waitomo caves, Rotorua and in Wellington we left our car. Instead we met a friend from work who was there as a guide with his Swedish group. We followed them in their bus from Wellington and down thru the west coast of the south island. In Queenstown we stayed for two nights and then we followed with the bus to a boat trip in Milford Sound. When we came to Dunedin we hired a car again and drove up to Christchurch from where we took a plane home thru Sydney, Singapore and London. We have had a wonderful trip and seen lots of new beautiful places and met lots of nice people. Thanks for all these new places and caches.
Took this cache on our holiday i New Zeeland. Took it with iza. Greetings from SWEDEN. Tftc.
Have been reviewing my finds from a few years ago (4 and a half!) and have noticed I'm missing several definite finds from our visit to Dunedin a few days ago. Whilst checking I see I've also missed logging this cache that I found whilst visiting for the early evening penguin return. I do remember there was a young muggle nearby who failed to move for a while so had to wait before making the find. Many apologies for the delayed log, finally rectifying these oversights!

The seal muggles had an eye on me, but they didn't care about the cache

Another stunning North Otago day, so a good excuse to stroll along the beach. We too were accosted by the same birds which gave Ernie a hurry up - just best to look away and keep walking! Cheers Drawp!
On my way home from a big days caching and thought my legs had recovered sufficiently for a walk along the beach to a newer placement.
Made my way down to the beach and it was nice and sunny - what a nice area.
Two birds made there presence well known so I took quite a detour as they could have been vicious and I remembered the famous Hitchcock movie "The Birds". After my detour I made the find and returned back via the same route reminded yet again to stay my distance. I watched with amusement the antics of the birds as my two companions walked along.
Thanks

A FTF at 10:27am... a good way to start the day that the world is supposedly going to end on! Found by Geomum as I wouldn't step foot on the beach after spotting a large seal nearby, and another one in the water not far off.
Second to find with this one too. A quick find after a stroll on the beach. Look out for the pair of Oyster Catchers that must have a nest close by! TFTC.
