Cache 7/11 with fisherfamfive and AdamW on our first caching trip of the new year. This location was much appreciated by us all, and we took a moment to rest and listen to the natural happenings before beginning our search. I must have ventured too far up the hill, as soon after I did so Cooper alerted me to the hide right where I had searched before, but hidden out of sight. We signed the log and continued our journey, TFTC ahomburg

Out today with CammJT and AdamWickenton for our first caching trip of the new year on the bikes in the northern part of the Dandenong Ranges National Park. After just completing the uphill trek to [DM #44 Downhill](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC4303W), we were very pleased by the sight of the downhill path we followed to this cache. After parking the bikes and clambering towards GZ, we shortly had the cache in hand.Tftc ahomburg

TFTC took me longer than it should have - went a bit high! All in good shape - log and anode container a little wet but not an issue for signing

25-Mar-23
First find on this one for 2023!

Third find on todays walk, it was just so close so I had to stop and have a quick look, nice little hide. Did tip quite a bit of water out of the container, but the ziploc bag was doing a good job keeping the water out.

Happy to report that the cache is in good condition and the log nice and dry.

I finished my work nearby earlier than expected on this humid day, so had some caching time before bus driving duty called.
This was the first find after a little scramble up the bank, nicely tucked away. The container was a little damp but the log was dry.

Thanks for the cash aHomburg, I parked the car on Mountain highway and went for a nice stroll on these gentle tracks, coming close to the cache I realised I'd lost my pen, again!!!! Walking back to the car what's not on the cards so I thought id improvise like they did in the old days but unfortunately I didn't have my hammer and chisel either, so I thought I'd go for the middle ages and use some old fashioned charcoal which I found on some nearby burnt out trees. I realise in these times of pandemics it would not be hygienic just spit on the charcoal to make it write but fortunately I had to go to the wee wees, so no problem. Regards from Victourer

Thanks to the hint, I spied where this should be easily prior to searching and found it easily. TFTC.

Took me awhile to find it but in the end i did

Spent too much time looking for this, until I eventually had the right spot.

Hopefully the eXact location will be easier for others to find.

Thank you, we had found this little waterfall in lockdown last year before we had discovered geocaching. Lovely spot.

Found it! Thanks so much!

01-Aug-21
We needed to drop into Crustyvarmint’s place to check out his van that needs a little work, and he very nicely offered to drop us off at a point so that we only needed to walk downhill. He took our car so he could still grab a cache, then would pick us up when we had completed our target caches. An offer too good to refuse.

I took laziness a step further and stayed on the track, watching Steve scramble up the hill to make the find. Unfortunately the container was full of water and the logbook is wet, but he assured me he did manage to write our name in the book.

Nice to be back grabbing a few more of this wonderful series. Thanks ahomburg.

Well I made this one harder than it needed to be. After struggling to find a park on mountain hwy walked in and then must've stepped over it 3 or 4 times in my search before realising what it was. Thanks for the cache.

OK, this is a bit tragic, but I now have a bunch of draft logs that are up to two months old. My plans of writing entertaining and informative tales for each one, illustrated with terrific photos, have become a bit ambitious. I will embellish where I can, and come back to some later, but will have to make do with generic logs for now.

Of course, this is not to disregard the appreciation I have for those who have placed and maintain each of these caches. I love youse all.

This is one I will embellish, just to say I found the cache after a bit of searching, and after resting my hand in the wrong place for too long, quickly discovering that the rather painful sensation I began experiencing was due to the bull ant sitting on my hand... Ouch... TFTC Smile

This is the last bush cache left in our 5k zone which we can't leave due to Covid 19. GeoboyB13 brought his mountain bike for his first ever go at mountain biking. Now the lovely walk back uphill to One Tree Hill picnic grounds and then down to the car ( car park closed). Contents wet but signable. Tried to dry it out as best we could and removed soggy junk.

24-Aug-20
Found it but didn’t bring a pencil. Added a trinket to the collection

13-Jun-20
Brilliant hide!

After the downhill run. This was next on my list to do. A lovely little corner in the path to stop at. Oldest geo kid went up the 8-10 meters and searched the area with intent. And searched and searched. After a big sigh geo mum to the rescue. Up onto the log, balancing with quite a large drop on the other side. Nope don’t look down. No falling allowed. Mums geo senses were spot on. A quick find with geo son providing a supporting hand on the downward climb. Great teamwork.
Off to find more on the track. Another fun find

12-Apr-20
A bit of a scramble but quickly found.

Thank you for another fun cache! Quick find after a microscramble.

It was nice to be back on an easy walking track again.
The cache was soon found and we moved on. Tftc.

On a mission before I leave Melbourne to find a clutch of caches in this little pocket of the forest. Have not been here for donkeys years. Not sure I covered ground in the most efficient way but had grabbed the MT bike and managed most of the hilly country. Nice to be back after a few decades. All caches found quickly enough. TFTC and series. I’ll be back!

Lovely rainforest feels in this little corner.

Visited the 1000 steps today. A good chance for some geocaches. Three hours walking and 13 caches.
All boxes except one were in good condition and nice to find. TFTC.

Start of a Remembrance Day walk that will get us to the top of the 1000 steps. Quick and easy find - the bottom of the cache was wet but log was fine. TFTC and the great wander

Easy find, thanks

It was a beautiful day and I decided on the spur of the moment to head out for a few caches. Why not grab a few more of the DM series?
As I meandered along Tobruk Track, I could see my car all the way down below. Then I arrived at my destination, and scrambled up to make the find.
Great location, thanks ahomburg

03-Aug-18
Had a bit of trouble with this one. Read activity and then found it. Tftc

20-Jul-18

Thanks for the cache

14-Jul-18
Nice quick find after our little wonder on the track

14-Jul-18
Following hubbies instructions I clambered up the hill to check behind the stump. After not finding it I moved to a neighbouring possibility. Again unsuccessful. he reread the hint And made the find.

09-Jun-18
Out early this morning to grab more of the meander series, the rain held out long enough for me to get what I wanted without getting too wet. As I was meandering I wondered 2 things: 1. If someone blindfolded ahomburg and dropped him into a random spot in the Dandenongs, would he be able to tell you whereabouts he was? I reckon he could. 2. If a bushfire swept through the Dandenongs (god forbid) as has happened before, how long would it take ahomburg to replace all of his caches? I reckon 3 solid days. Thanks again for this series ahomburg, a great excuse to get out of the house into nature Smile TFTC!

It was a glorious sunny day and I had an itch that needed to be scratched. There’s some evenings that a feeling washes over me and I NEEEEED to get out for a walk and a cache. Tonight was one of those nights. So, as I dumped a load of spaghetti into a pot of boiling water and stirred my meat sauce, I messaged Kelly to see if she fancied a spur of the moment caching run with me.
I was surprised when I immediately got a YES in reply and, before I knew it, a course was plotted and a time was set.
This cache looked kind of hard to get to from where we stood on the track. There were lots of fallen trees and, of course, the signature Ahomburg hill scramble.
I spotted the stump and Kelly asked from a little further back along the track “do you have any sort of path to it over there?”
“Nope. No track here. And there’s a big fallen tree blocking the way” I replied.
So we scrambled up another way and skirted around the back of it. Well, Kelly did.....I kinda observed from a short distance away because.....well, what was the point in both of us doing the hard yards?
After the signing was done and we extracted ourselves from the undergrowth, we walked past where I was originally standing and had claimed that there was no path to the cache. Kelly kindly pointed out the clear and easy track leading straight up to it that I had missed. Oops!! Nice night for a bit of cross-training!!

A long Easter weekend always has to involve some Geocaching, but it appeared that all my regular caching buddies were away at the GeoMuster and caching on your own really isn't as fun as doing it with your friends. The weekend was nearly over when I received a surprise message from The Rustys asking if I would like to do some spur of the moment caching? We had been trying to catch up for some time but our lives were always too busy and we could never lock in a date, but tonight I was free. So while all The Rustys sat down to dinner I plotted a plan of caches we both needed to find, worked out a map and a found a meeting place.
It was a warm night, perfect for some night caching and this was our first cache of the night. We looked around for the tell tale sign of a geo-trail for the best way in but nothing stood out at us, so I found what looked like the easiest way up. Climbing through bushes and over fallen tree branches it seemed a bit of an effort to get to GZ but it wasn't too long before I had the cache in hand. I signed the logbook and returned it to its hiding place..........now to get back down! I flashed my headlight around the area to see if there was a better way to come back down. Right wher Mrs Rusty had been standing earlier, when we were looking the way to get up, was the easier and shorter way to get to the cache. After a bit of a giggle we headed to the next cache wondering what the rest of our night adventures was going to hold.
Thanks ahomburg for the cache.

First time geocaching. Hint definitely helped as we weren't really sure what to look for. Great spot! A small amount of water in container, otherwise all good.

20-Jan-18
GPS was pointing us down the hill, but after reading the hint we decided to search around up the hill, but with no luck. We did find a fox skull however, which was pretty cool.

15-Jan-18
With the rain clearing, this cache proved more challenging than it needed to be. One went up to look. Then two. Then three. The fourth one had the advantage of surveying the site from below and had a fair idea of where it was. Bingo.

29-Dec-17
It was not too hot today so I decided to do some DM caches. There were two caches which my normal caching partners had done so I decided to get these while they were not around. I was able to drive reasonably close to the track and parked on the main road. I walked up the track and found the spot described. I did not trust the GPS under the trees however I started where GZ was indicated. I look of the likely spots turned up nothing so I resorted to the hint relatively quickly. The hint indicated a typical hide. Having checked these I went further afield. Still no luck and the past logs were not helpful. I rang the CO who could not provide much assistance (hard to remember 1 of 100 caches). I then went back to my starting point and looked more closely. I soon had the cache, in a spot where you would expect but not really as indicated by the hint. Thanks ahomburg

Continuing our hike through the Dandenongs, searching for invaluable pieces of Tupperware in the forest. This was our next find, which took us entirely too long. TFTC

A nice early walk around the Dandenong Ranges National park with Clint. The weather wasn't too bad considering when we arrived there was heaps of rain and lightning which stopped before we set out.
(thankfully). A lovely spot with the ferns and small creek. We had a bit of cache blindness here before we spotted the "natural rock" formation. Cache in good order.

Found by Team Justice #1606.

Hint is a bit confusing ...

Needs maintenance...

28-Jan-17
Maintenance necessary...

Wet logbook, container not tight

My (or your) coordinates were quite a bit off. Water in container, rusting swappables.

03-Dec-16
Found while walking up and down tracks in the Dandenongs, looking for DM caches and other ones nearby. Great sunny day for a walk in these lovely hills.

29-Oct-16
What a ground breaking discovery!

23-Oct-16
Great location. Would have struggled without the hint, I suspect. The logbook however was very damp, as previously noted. Signable, but not for much longer, I fear. Thanks ahomburg!

06-Oct-16

Found by edmil and maddie at 12:38. Well actually maddie got to this one first. Log signed no swaps were made. TFTC. Logbook a bit damp

11-Sep-16
Sneaky but only spent about 5mins here

15-Aug-16
Out for a ride Exploring the Dandenongs. I spotted the geotrail and up I went and down I came. I must have walked that geotrail three times. Just as I was coming down again about to give this one up as a dnf my foot stepped on something and there it was. TFTC

27-Jul-16
For some reason I wanted to ignore it and look somewhere else.
Finally came to my senses and pick it up.
Thanks ahomburg.
Chiefton!!!

27-Jul-16
Too cold for snakes today, but I was worried about the rats so I sent Chiefton up over the hill to storm the cache.

Thanks ahomberg for the Cache

25-Apr-16
A beautiful day for a meander around the Dandenong Ranges. Having seen the total chaos at the 1000 steps it was lovely to walk around this area away from the maddening crowds. It's amazing to think if ypu walk just a couple of km away from there you effectively have the area to yourself.

This was the one that look the longest to find today. I was looking all over the place and even resorted to the hint to try to help. Could not find the cache. In the end just as I was about to give up and sulk about a DNF I slipped on the container! I'm pretty sure that wasn't there when I was looking. Ah well... they al, count regardless of how you find them! TFTC!

20-Jan-16
Took a little bit to find but got there nonetheless. The cache was full of water and the log has been damaged before, but is still able to be written on. Will need a look at. Tftc

08-Nov-15
Nice day for a walk. Beautiful Area. Tftc

08-Nov-15
In front of stump, as pointed out by zoemcg

03-Nov-15
Out hiking around the hills today to escape from the horse race that is going on. A lovely hike up and down the mountain a few times to collect a good series of caches. Other than the 2 DNF's. All were where they should be. Sometimes a bit out on the coords due to the hills but otherwise great. Thanks for the hides.

03-Nov-15
I was on trip in mountains. It was nice weather and nature is there amazing. There were a lot of colourful birds and lot of any wildlife. I enjoyed it very much. I spent some hours by walking there and hunting some caches. It was very nice day. Thank you very much for very nice cache in beautiful nature.

19-Sep-15
Out on an [red]awesome [black]Saturday afternoon with [blue]OzHockeyChick[black] collecting some of our hitlisted DM series caches and thought we would have a bit of a bike about the hills.....
Think we finally hit the bottom of our trails for today to make this find and now the return back up hill........
Again tftc

12:44 pm #742
88andy88 and I decided to make the most of a beautiful Saturday, so we loaded the bikes and came to this section of the Dandenongs to tackle some more DMs.
Nice hide and we were soon riding away from the mozzies that were big enough to carry you away. NEXT! Smile

12-Jun-15
Knowing this one wasn't all that accessible from a nearby car park and having travelled to Tobruk 2 by mountain bike I figured that now was good as ever to grab this one. Like others (based on geotrail), I checked the wrong stump first but eventually got there in the end. The downhill ride from Mountain Hwy made the hard work to get these caches all worthwhile.tftc

07-Jun-15
This one took a bit of searching but then GZ all of a sudden became obvious.

Logbook is a bit damp but surviving.

Topped up with some small swaps that hopefully will be OK if they get a bit wet.

TFTC

Found a very pleasant walk with my wife on a fresh and mild afternoon. This was tricky! Took me quite a while. Cache has clearly been wet but is now fairly dry and the log is fine. Thanks!

Found with Loz6032. Nice spot for a cache. Water damage. Needs new log and cache

19-Nov-14
I decided to sit and rest in this little cove for a bit. The same rangers I bumped into earlier were slowly driving up the hill. They were probably wondering where I headed off to. Once they were gone I signed the cache and continued on back up the hill. TFTC

Managed to scare away the wallaby to get to cache.

01-Oct-14
Another day and another chance to grab a few caches after work. Since I have already done a few in this DM series I decided to continue on and this was my first find for the afternoon. #1 of 10. Found after a walk up the hill and a short search. Tftc ahomburg.

28-Sep-14
I just managed to park in a good spot for accessing this one and after an enjoyable short stroll had a choice to make - which one? Logic said the easiest (for other reasons) and so it proved to be.
