Great Cache - a lovely paddle out in the sunshine - quick walk around and found the cache - contents rotten and disintegrated so have replaced log and pencil in plastic bag. Excellent end to our holiday.
Well nearly gave up hope as we searched for ages at the given gps coords, just as we were leaving whoever, muggle friends arrived and found it at a total different place!!!!

First time we looked we were unsuccessful but a quick paddle around the island made sure we found it. Tftc

This one has been sitting on the map for 9 years, today was the first time in ages we got to the lake Tarawera village, the only problem was that we didn’t take a kayak, as luck would have it there was one we were able to borrow to make it across the short divide, a short paddle and I was on land, it turned into a methodical search of the island and eventually found the container, then the lid, then the mushy logbook remnants, a paddle back to the van to get a replacement log sheet and then back to sign and replace.
Great to get this one finally ticked off the list!

TFTC, paddled over and picked up easily yesterday afternoon, rehid as hint describes as it was almost in the open when I got to it.
Got rid of one pair of kids off the island then a second pair of kids arrived. 20 minutes later they left and I could retrieve the treasure. Enjoy my SUP trip from Cliff Park beach!! Found in the open so hid it a bit.
Found a few weeks ago ... but didn't take my phone as didn't want it going for a swim and then forgot to log. Kayaked the kids over and they had fun climbing ashore to find it. Thanks
Found as mentioned below with my brother. My son was keen to show us around the lake in his new boat, so I gently steered him over in this direction and then he twigged that we were after a geocache! He graciously took us right up to the island - what a lovely area. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC
At the lake today with extended family, and my geocaching sister and I were with her son boating on the lake. She managed to talk him into heading to this island where we managed to locate the cache container without much trouble. However all it had in it was a pencil, as per the photo. Unfortunately we didn’t have a replacement logsheet with us. #2118. TFTC.
Great finish to a day on the lake. Easy find...once we managed to convince Dad to bring the boat in close. Cute little island.
Staying near by and decided it was a beautiful morning for a kayak and of course to get a Cache. Awesome spot, Tftc and bringing me here
Box was open and empty. We put paper and a pen in. Please check it again.

Found the cache in two different locations on the island. Looks to have been muggled. Put both parts where I think they should have been . over all the container is empty of its contents. Needs owners maintenance .
Three of us and our trusty GPS swam out to find this one - found it quite quickly but unfortunately was very wet. Great fun and excellent spot for a cauche - thanks for the fun.
Friends we are staying with took us for a boat ride, and we ended up here. Put in a new log as the book is very soggy. Cheers.
TIme to head home to Christchurch, the slow way!
Thanks to all the CO's for their hides.

Lovely sunny day for a puddle around the lake in the dinghy. Tried not to disturb the wildlife on the island, fortunately the eggs have hatched so little ducks were out swimming. Found the cache quickly and managed to avoid a dead bird at gz. Tftc!
Giving the boat a run after a couple of months off and doing a spot of trout fishing. A good reason to explore a new part of the lake for us. Lovely spot. Cache still in good condition.
Nice shelter behind the island, enabled to back the yacht up to the rocks an get ashore. Lots of places to look.
11am - Offered a chance to go boating on Lake Tarawera and do a few caches so why give up the chance. Day fine and lake flat, able to get caches without getting feet wet. Some good boating skills by Eruptn, thanks for the day. SLTFTC
Sailed in here during a two day voyage on Quinella.
Very attractive inlet and island.
Chose a suitable spot to land and cache was within metres.
Replaced with a rock to cover/retain. Thanks

Grandpa's boat broke down, so we had to use the blowup plastic rowboat to get to the island. It was a bit tricky to get out of the boat and on to the land without both of us getting wet. We climbed up the rocks and on to the flat island. I followed the GPS right to the spot and quickly spotted something a little different, and there it was. I was disappointed that there wasn't any "treasure" in it, so I left something for the next boy or girl to find. TFTC
The last few days didn't go to plan. In particular the outboard motor on the boat broke down, so we had to resort to rowing the $30 plastic boat across to the island. No bunnies were spotted, though perhaps those observing us from the shore may well have considered otherwise. We made a tricky landfall, but managed to negotiate the exit from the craft without tipping into the lake. A quick scramble up the rocks and the cache was soon in hand. My grandson (4CJ) and I wondered whether you were allowed to camp on the island. There was a good spot in the centre. TFTC
Out for the first time with the new canoe. Absolutely awesome day, the lake was
Ike a mirror and the sky had very few clouds. Lots of baby birds in the area and the mums made a lot of noise as I was hunting for the cache. Lucky it didn't take too long and we were soon on our way again, leaving them in peace. TFTC

Great location kayaked out there on a beautiful day. Initially attempted to access the wrong island which is currently inhabited by a mother goose who wasn't too happy about my presence. After seeing the number she pulled on the other goose I decided against trying for this cache in case I also get bitten repeated in the neck before checking my gps and realising I was miles off. Got to the right island and it was a quick find from there, although after I stumbled across another goose nest I steered well clear off that area. Amazing cache my favourite so far tftc!
Popped the dinghy into the water, a quick row and had this found after a few minutes, all dry and well. Thanks!
TFTC, Good geocache, I worked out that TheGeeGees have a bach at Lake Tarawera. I stayed there at Hermione, Loved my holidays.
Meant to head out here on the 2nd of February as we noted it was still waiting for a FTF but got a bit late in the day so set off today to nab it. Pipped at the post by 30mins by Squirrel Nutcase and Squirrel Monkey - saw them just leaving said Island as we were pumping up our inflatable kayak - oh sucks beaten at the post!
Found after small search and then enjoyed our paddle around the bay and out to the bigger Island. Lots of birdlife to observe which we were able to get close to with our quiet mode of transport. Thanks for making a nice day out.

Out with the Squirrel for the day on Lake Tarawera. This morning the wind had dropped from yesterday, so it was green light for us both. Yay FTF claimed by both of us. Have been watching this one for several days and wondered why it was still unclaimed. Water was still a bit lumpy to go to Island Hop, so took off for the other side of the lake. Pick up a TB which has a very interesting history. Thanks TheGeeGees.
Waitangi Day. Out caching with Spiderhouse. When they said they were going to take their boat up to Lake Tarawera, I was thrilled to be invited. Today was just magical. I never expected to collect the Tarawera caches in a zillion years. At least not without a lot of expended energy... and a lot of swimming.
We zoomed across the Lake on choppy water. The wind was supposed to have died a little, but at least the weather was better than yesterday. At the island, Mr Spiderhouse followed his gps while I went for an explore. I found lots of eggs, while Mr S found the cache. The logbook was unsigned. A great start in this beautiful setting. TFTC. A well deserved favourite point too.
