Sadly walking away with a DNF...but l will be back hopefully with more eyes and definitely with new pants I scrabled left and down then right and down then left and down again..the more I scrambled the more confused I got..did I take the hint too literally? Or was my height my hindrance in being able to see the cache?? After 30 minutes hmm maybe more..I had to call time..
My quest for today, out with micaparamedic after a CITO in Coburg and I needed this DT. A lovely walk up but this one did take some time finding though. Glad for micaparamedic's climbing skills, they were well used.
Out with ConnieandRick today after a CITO in Coburg this morning. After parking up, a pleasant stroll to GZ. We met another hiker who was geographically challenged, so we were able to help him out.Arriving at GZ, a short search soon identified a potential location for the hide. Now, to retrieve it. Considering options, we eventually came up with the best available to us, our mission was soon completed. Thanks g_ordo for placing this traditional cache, enhancing the game board and adding to our enjoyment.
A slight detour from our Lerderderg Gorge Circuit to discover this outstanding view point. GeoD had a thought(fear) as to where actual GZ was and, on consulting the hint, those fears were realised. The lower route was explored and discarded for an upper route to the hide. Sat and admired the view for a while before continuing our journey through the gorge. TNLN SL TFTC
Amazing views, fine scrambling, great hike (did this on the return end of a loop) -- a definite favorite!
*The Second Very Short Long Hike Adventure #2*
This one was on the list two days ago, but during the thunderstorm I navigated too far to the west and ended up coming down onto Swans Rd prematurely. I wasn't going to climb the hill again in the rain (and ice), so...
Today I had a great plan - drop in on Mondays two caches again, then come back for this one. However, when I got to "Acts of Gord - It's not about the cache", I had the bright idea of coming down the hill to the river walk, running along that track then climbing the ridge again using the well-made path.
Mistake 5: The track up the ridge is not well-made! In fact, after Monday's rain, it was a bit damaged, treacherous with loose gravel, and so very steep! If you're already on the ridge, STAY ON THE RIDGE!
I passed a dad and his three smallish kids climbing the track. I nearly asked him to carry me! By the time I'd run down to this cache and got back to the info board, he'd made it to the top. Total madness, but I take my hat off to him.
The cache itself? It's kinda deserving its T4D4... I may have put my epirb into my pocket before the final approach, just in case.
Thanks heaps for the cache, Gordo, and thanks too to Jacko83 for keeping it alive!

this is a cracker of a cache
sitting at mackenzies flat wanting an afternoon stretch of the legs, this treasure appealed
logs praise the adventure and the view
sounds like our sorta thing
and
to summarise our findings:
we agree with the praise
it is a mighty view
perhaps the best view of the gorge we have seen so far
but standing even fifty metres away you would have no idea that beyond the screen of foliage there waited an expansive vista
were it not for this treasure, we would likely have missed it altogether
so that is why we choose this curious app as our tour guide of choice
for adventures like this
and for views like that

Being in the area this cache was too tempting to pass up. Figuring we could do some no-strings-attached reconnaissance first, we hummed the first few guitar lines and made a beeline to the cache 30m out. There were a couple approach options but we went for the lower one. A bit of stretch to get there but very managable to discover the well-secured cache. A great view and lovely spot to share. Thanks to Jacko for adopting and maintaining!
After grabbing the Pinnacle I thought I had enough in me for this one as it wasn't too far out of the way. On arrival I thought this seems pretty simple, easy for a T4. Oh! That's where it is...I would rather be in my climbing shoes for this. Thankfully managed to reach it, sign while clinging to the rock, pop it back and then back the way I came. A fave for the views and clever hide.
My brave partner retrieved the cache - we opted to climb up instead of going over the edge fantastic view !!!
Ummm wow! Just wow! I am so grateful you brought us here! What a view. Finding the cache was the easy part for me, but getting to it was tricky due to the fact I have my geowhippet with me again. Had to work out how to get to it without my loyal, but stupid, canine companion thinking he needed to jump down to rescue me! Eventually had to tie him to a tree and yell out constant reassurance that I was okay before climbing. Got there in the end. Thank you for the experience! Loved it!
There’s something very scary about being alone in the bush but comforting at the same time. I like the isolation. At least with location sharing services someone knows where I am and it’s good to have some company - even if Reggie is a bit of a peanut brain sometimes ️

Found again yesterday (23/9) while introducing some friends from @getnakedaustralia to geocaching and great scenic lookouts off the main tracks. They had a great time finding it, might have some new converts SL TFTC
Astounding views for miles, but the last 2m to get the cache was a surprise. Totally worth it for the location, fave TNLNSL TFTC
I had a few irons in the fire this morning. I was ostensibly up here for a greater prize but there were other delectable caches to be found also and these were more than worthy goals in their own right.
I coaxed Karena out of bed early today as something might go wrong on my own here, It didn't of course but safety in numbers is a good idea out here.
spectacular place indeed.
cheers

About 10 years ago this banana dreamed of walking the Lerderderg Gorge track.
Could the walk be done?
Would the walk take a week?
Would the walk be done in a day?
How would the walk start?
Would there be a car shuttle?
A bicycle was proposed to transfer oneself to the other end. Up hill or down hill would yet be decided.
So much to be planned.
It would be a bushwalk of a lifetime.
So many unknowns....
Now the Gorge since then has been consumed in plenty of individual pieces. This game has taken us to many different parts which would have been overlooked in the mad scramble that the bananas now move.
Today though, knowing how Gordo moves comfortably about the steep cliffs, enough rope and harnesses were carried to whip the Eiger into submission. Professional abseilers prepared as they coaxed the bananas over the edge and into the fear of plenty. The birds eye partial view of the proposed walk all those years ago would be examined in intimate detail.
It was an exillarating event.
Then finally the rope lesson was over.
And that proposed trip..
A walk of Cradle Mountain / Lake Sinclair instead. It took 5 days.

Stunning views here and what a way to finish my day of caching in the Lerderderg. The cache however was certainly in the danger zone. Alone and climbing down a rock face, what could possibly go wrong. Maybe I was Goose. Anyway log was signed. Sat and took a heap of photos, Even a Golden Whistler bird stopped and said hello. A truly magic spot. My first D4/T4 as well.
Thanks **Jacko83**

Could be #3 of my 2-day trek from Blackwood to Mackenzie Flat Picnic Area (43 km), but I haven't succeeded here. Well, I was not really trying hard, I was just happy enough about the view, that I didn't want to look for the cache more. Anyway, thanks for bringing me to this viewing rock.

This was fun! And hectic! Thanks for bringing us to this amazing view !! Cransie and krams
Probably one of my favourites because of the view! Amazing !!! Thanks for the find! Cransie and krams
TFTC - The view from this location would have to be one of the best in the Park, thanks for bringing us here.
Came here today to show LeeLee the fantastic view. Never gets boring up here. Love the Lerdie.
After a great time caching together as team VANS (Vamp1blade, Ausfox; Neville_devil and Sims_family) around Mt Disappointment a few weeks ago, today we were all up for another adventure. This time in the Lerderderg State Park.
Ausfox; had the great idea of leaving one car here at MacKenzies flat then driving around to the access point close by here and then hiking back to MacKenzies Flat. It was a great idea other that the initial climb up, which is quite a steep one at that it was mostly down hill from here.
Anyway we made the climb up this far easy enough stopping for a quick cache along the way.
Honestly who would have guessed that just of the track you could get such a spectacular view and a cache to boot. retrieving the cache was an interesting one. I went one way in the aim to get to the goal and Neville went a different way. Neville's way was better and he reached the goal before I could.
After signing the log and returning the goods we stopped for the mandatory selfies and pano's that this spot required.
Thank you Jacko83 for this wonderful cache and a big favourite from me

Out for the day with Mrs Juc to visit some spots we've both wanted to go to and with the added bonus of being allowed to grab some caches. Today's destination was Lergerderg Gorge and wow, the caches we did certainly didn't disappoint ! A range of hides, some walking, some drive-bys, but all good fun.
This was the first for the day, on recommendation of the the CO. A false start when the lady inside the Satnav decided the best way to get there was via some non-existant track off Mt Blackwood Rd. It's not. She lied. Again. Anyway, ignoring her instructions to do a u-Turn, we soon found our way to the right parking area and commenced the walk. Some time later, heartbeats and blood-pressure having returned to normal, we hit the GZ area.
Mrs Juc doesn't do heights, but I spotted a route which didn't give her the heebie-jeebies quite so badly and was soon signing the log. That done, the cache was replaced, the direct route up was of much less concern than it would have been going down ! Then it was time to sit awhile and be amazed by the view and the bracing fresh air (at 11 degrees, it was bracing alright !)
Thanks for this brilliant cache and the recommendation Jacko83 ! Big Fav.

Suscoe was out and about today in the very good company of Phetlern and Bushfire.
We enjoyed the walking track from the car park to this spot.
Well this is certainly a stunning location and we were very glad we made the short trek here.
Glad that one of our crew bit the bullet and achieved the retrieve.
The legendary H did the hard work and Suscoe would like to congratulate her for her bravery!!!!!!!!
A big thank you to Jacko83 for this cache, a favourite from us for the location.

In the area today with my great caching mates suscoe and the Phetlern Team who have 30,000 finds between them so I am in great caching company.
Gee that climb from the parking area to this point certainly gets the blood and heart pumping and for a 70+ I am happy.
If this is Mudbrick's playground I now know why he is so fit.
It is indeed a spectacular location and on such a beautiful morning what more could you wish for.
This is indeed not a cache for the faint hearted as it took us a while to locate the hidy hole and work out how to retrieve the ammo can and the inner (Great setup).
Mrs P put her hand up and over the edge she went and soon had the prize in hand.
Great area, great location for the hide, great company along with very CN's all in all a cache that we will all remember. I really think the terrain rating could be a tad higher.
Thanks Greg for keeping it alive and another F.P. WOW. We know why you love this country now.

Out and about in this wonderful part of the state in the good company of Bushfire and Suscoe. This is our fifth Acts of Gord cache, first time sharing the adventure with other players. Another spot with spectacular views and at this time of year a carpet of wildflowers. H-P was the one who recovered this cache from it's perch. Perhaps a TR4.5 would be appropriate as there was some extremely demanding movement over some potentially hazardous terrain!
Our thanks to Jacko83 for placing this cache.

Pacman and I are off to find the finish of a cache on our list today, so we're doing a few others on the way. Well, this one won't be forgetten for a while. A challenge for me to do. Pacman had already found it, so I had to climb down and retrieve it. I nearly bailed, but Pacman kept encouraging me. It really doesn't look very hard!! And it's not very far down!! But stepping over a cliff edge with a 10m drop below is scary!!! I'm glad I did it, but was very glad to be safely back up the top again. Thanks for the challenge. A fp for doing something I don't think I was in my right mind to do!! The things we do when we're caching!!!

After an earlier trip elsewhere, the geo family had pre planned this walk / hike for a Father's Day family outing. We took our supplies including the thermos and some treats with us and made it up the tough terrain to start us off, the geo kiddies and wife made it up with no issues and enjoyed the walk. We wondered just how to get to the final location but noticed a little geo track and followed that. The views were spectacular and as the geo kiddies stayed well away from the edge with geo mum, I made the strategic climb for this one and located while on the edge. I felt more like Tom Cruise from mission impossible than from top gun. Signed and returned as found.
**Thanks for placing this trad cache, gordo and for jacko 83 continuing it on** [^]
**Cache container and log in good condition**

What an incredible view. Last time I looked for this it was dark and basically impossible to find- the sun helped this time around. I believe we also bush-bashed up from the river, so this time around was much easier all told.
Came up from Swans Rd to this one. Steep start but all in all a pretty easy hike. Once I came through the scrub at GZ....WOW. Really cold and windy up here today, but I still stayed for more than half an hour just taking it in. Looked at the weather radar and decided I had to make a run for it. I think I'll be back pretty soon to show LeeLee this one. Thanks g_ordo for placing this here and thanks Jacko83 for maintaining it. Amazing. Another fav point awarded.
So, this is a far easier to find and far more worthwhile cache during the day. Thank you.
First time to Lerderderg today and thought I'd check out the circuit walk and a side spur. 15km hiked all up today which included 900m of elevation gains!
Another ripper view, and an Ammo can to top it off! Cache was found quickly and then I sat back and enjoyed a drink and some snacks while soaking up the sunshine!

We enjoyed stunning views from GZ. The Tritonz positioned himself to make the find. Thanks Jacko83, a magic spot.
With a planned visit to this area today, the drizzling rain and low fog as I left home did not make for a promising start. On approach to Bacchus Marsh, the clearer skies were a very welcome sight. After a rendezvous with gmj3191, ThePacman, The Tritonz and 6Hinemoa2, we travelled in convoy to the suggested parking spot and set off on foot.

Before we even got to GZ I was picked chosen to be the one to retrieve the cache, what a great little adventure it was getting to it.
The views here were spectacular and breathtaking, what a fantastic spot for a cache.
A cache I wont be forgetting any time soon.

A small expedition met up in Bacchus Marsh and headed into Lerderderg State Forest. There were McLookers, The Tritonz, 6Hinemoa2, The Pacman and myself.
Moving on from the last cache, we found another superb location with another great cache. Although I don't mind the odd rock or tree climb, some would label this a danger zone and not attempt it, but I loved it. The find was made by Chris of the Tritonz and we soaked up the ambience for a while before retracing our steps and heading to the next target.
Oh, and a fav point allocated, of course.

Found during a great day enjoying an 18km hike from McKenzies Flat and then along the scenic rim with Dog-gone, Jacko83 and Mudbrick.
This was one of the highlights of the day, and the title (and story behind it) is very apt.
I tried accessing GZ from the bottom, then from the top, and then it took some help from the CO to finally get to the logbook .
Thanks, Jacko83 and Gordo - an inspirational location and a FP for sure!

so this year has been planned for a couple of years now for cache366 (cache366 is the real deal none of this cache365 hahaha) so l had been holding off for doing all the caches around geelong so l would have more then enough to smash it out of the park.
it came to my attention l would knock over milestone 1000 this year and had talked about this with Gregory and he suggested this cache as the cache for me and l agreed as l do caching for a number of reasons but a main one being exercise and this would be a great cache for that reason.
my birthday is 01/01 and l suggested how about l start of cache366 and on my birthday with the milestone but gregory was unable to do this as he was jet setting across the world so it would be later in January which was fine as it gave me time to settle in to having to do a cache each day for a whole year lol
after discussions with gregory we put the word out l think thursday or friday night on facebook too see if anyone else would wanna join and we had jason and steve come along for the ride in what l have now called 'team 1000' a great team to share a great moment.
we meet at the parking spot and started what can only be described as a hill climb but luckily after that it did straighten out which was good lol we stopped at the first cache along the way which l would have to do on the return as l was on the milestone for the next cache but that was fine.
me and steve where talking and got to not far off gz but was advised it would be easier to access from a little further at which point we we did and made it to what only seemed like a very small area over looking something pretty spectacular, something pictures wouldnt do it justice, if you wanted to feel it you would have to go there.
within metres of gz l asked steve if l could hold his hand (alright l needed a hand stepping down a little bit lol) once feet fairly firm on the ground we got to gz and l was like 'its down there yeh' and which point l was told 'yeh its down there' lol
a great day, a great cache spent with other great cachers

Joined up with Jacko83, Capt Roverman and Vamp1blade for an early start to grab a few caches. Made our way to GZ dodging and weaving our way through, but it's all worth it when the view appears to open out in front of you. It was great to be able to share Capt Roverman's 1000th find at such a great location.

We stopped here to get the cache coming back from the Weir along the backwood ranges track. It was a great day, clear as, and the view here was fantastic. Reading some of the other logs before hand we had a good idea where the cache was and quickly had it. The scramble wasn't too hard. We all sat there for a bit longer and took in the scenery. Great cache in a great location. None of us had any desire to sing the Top Gun Anthem, it would have spoilt the serenity!

Didn't expect to do any rock climbing to find a cache, this was a bit they surprise but it was easy enough to handle. Great views from this spot!
Great spot. A bit of a climb to get to the cache but stable enough to stand near once you've spotted it. Another interesting cache location by Acts of Gord.
With Abby off seeing a movie with a friend today, my old buddy Tim and I decided to take a hike in Lerderderg and grab a few caches on the way.
Wow wow wow!! This was our final cache find for the day, and after the exhausting walk to the top of the gorge, I can't think of a more appropriate finale. This cache has it all - great views, great challenge, a 4/4 on the D/T chart and great music! (we couldn't bring ourselves to hum take my breath away, but danger zone was belted out with gusto on the top of the cliff!)
This is my favourite cache to date! Thankyou!!

Early this morning I headed to Ballarat with Stemicmitsar for the purpose of finding some challenge caches we had both qualified for as well as a desirable D/T rating and some sundry caches.
This cache with it's highly prized D4/T4 rating was a priority today. We made our way towards GZ being mindful of loose rocks and the edge of the precipice until both of us descended a short distance. While I was still looking for hand hold to look a bit higher, fittingly Steve made the find and in so doing, completed his P81. Well done, mate. [^]
Log book signed by us both, we headed up and took some photos to commemorate the occasion.

Today biggles1024 and I headed out to Ballarat for a day of caching with a number of caches with significant value on the hit list.
This one was our second target for the day as it is a D4/T4 which was to only spot on my P81 grid that I needed to fill in.
We weren't sure we were going to be in for in heading to and the finding of this one.
The start of the track that lead us here was very steep but it was well worth the trip as the view at GZ is great.
The search for the cache took a couple of minutes, once I was able to get to the correct spot the cache was easily found, it was a matter of getting back down after the log was signed.
Thanks to g_ordo for placing this cache and the milestone of filling my P81 grid.

Let me start by saying WOW !! What a memorable cache. An enjoyable walk and then all of a sudden you are presented with some spectacular scenery. What an amazing view, wish I had my camera and not just a phone camera. Now to start the search for the cache. Removed the backpack and proceeded to hunt high and low. After 5 minutes with no luck, I resorted to the hint. Really, in there ?? Oh well, here goes. Nothing ventured, nothing broken....[xx(][xx(]
Spotted a likely hiding spot, let's go for it. YES !! Spotted the goodies, with three 8 legged guardians on top. My fear of spiders was overridden by my fear of heights. Now that I was hanging up here, they could have been 16 legged and a foot long. I wasn't getting back down without signing this bad boy. Carefully inserted my name into the log book and returned everything to it's hiding spot.
I thought of wearing of one the novelty items included and taking a selfie, but then I pictured my broken body down the bottom of the ravine wearing Groucho Marx glasses..... [B)][B)] Not a good look.
Now to get back down...let's just say I used every inch of my 195 cm frame to get back down safely. Wow, what a feeling. I never would have considered anything like this before I started geocaching. While it may not be as extreme as other people do, it was very extreme for someone like me. Thanks for getting me out of my comfort zone.
I'm proud to be only the 10th finder in 2 years !! [^][^] This one will stick in my mind for a long time. A definite favourite for me. TFTC g_ordo.

A sunny sunday and back in the beautiful Lerdie for hike, view, adventure, dt stats, unloved and fun!
A cruisy walk here much easier rhan the others here. Luckily a quick find while hanging on tight. Log signed, smashed down an up and go and grabbed some snaps. Thanks again for bringing me here gordo, look forward to meeting you on the trail some day. Photo with me and Bentley- 940am. Big fave point also!

A cruisy walk here compared to the others down the track. Luckily a quick find here while hanging on tight. if a snake popped out don't know what I'd do.

After doing a check at Tom Swan's legacy, I continued up the track to this one.
I searched high and low and circled the rock face until realizing, after reading some logs, what was required.
So it was a careful scramble to where I needed to be after spotting it from the edge. Certainly deserves the high rating g_ordo, thanks for the walk, the views and the challenge.

After finding the nearby Tom Swans Legacy cache, decided to walk up a bit further to grab this cache as I was not looking forward to walking back down the path too soon. If there is a hard way in, then I will certainly find it. What a spectacular view from up here as the sun decided to come out. This was a bit of a search but the clue was extremely helpful and thankfully with a bit of help with the retrieval, the log was signed and then off to admire some more of the fantastic views.
Have to give it a fave for the walk and the views.
Thanks g_ordo

3rd time lucky!!! Talk about take your breath away!
Finally, this can be crossed off my list. Found it with muddy who once again showed his skills but this time using a rope.
Well to be honest, he really retrieved it and I signed the log. That’s partnership. Now mudbrick should change his name to monkeyman and you should be…..
Anyway this has been gnawing away at me ever since my first solo attempt months ago. This assault nearly ended up unsuccessfully too. I think we were both about to call it quits, as we thought we had looked everywhere.
I had one more last look over the ledge while muddy had disappeared yet again and we finally came up trumps. Muddy waited patiently, living on the edge, while I did the honours. He tells me now that he told me to hurry up. I didn’t hear any squeaking muscles or voices though.
Thanks for the much needed walk up and down the path/hill leading to the cache. The trees here have grown quite a bit. This was noticeable as I led the way through them to GZ. If there is a hard way I will find it.
A truly 4/4 rated hide with spot on co-ords.

Found him on my second go, I walked in with 6hinemoa2 after my info centre shift, we scrounged high and low, to no avail....so demoralising but got the little sucker, with a lot of effort, eventually. Your cache rating is spot on g_ordo. This was a tough one. I will give it a favourite due to the death wish you must possess to locate this spot.
Very disappointed that 6hinemoa2 & myself could not find this. We went over the area with a fine tooth comb. I could not find it when I got back, so please could people keep an eye out for my fine tooth comb. I even clambered up the 5 metre or so rock wall........ not recommended, 6hinemoa2 sort of freaked out when fingers & a head appeared from the abyss....sort of a geocaching foo. But the walk was good. Thank you g_ordo.
I walked with muddy but your name is MUD. We were pleased we found Burke & Wills but..........
This was my second attempt and still no joy. Thank goodness muddy is alive to tell the tale.
As you know we were only too keen to tell you in person of our adventures.
Next time it will be a happy face.
Thanks for the entertainment G_ordo

Today's run was planned around 2 particular caches in the Lerderderg State which I have come to really enjoy visiting for caching. There are some D/T combos out here which I still need for project 81 and all the caches have been so far well worth the effort getting and the views are fantastic. Well today it was no different, but this time I was better prepared and probably a bit fitter too. Very satisfying holding all the caches found today while still getting your breath back and wiping the sweat away. Was out on the trail once more with Ahomburg and it had been a few weeks since our last run. The weather today was ideal with temperature around 25.
Well getting here took longer then it should have but it was still fun and got to see more of the park as a result. This was the first cache of this combo attempted and was very pleased once in hand. The views from this GZ were just amazing probably even better then the other 2 done before which is a big call I know... Am amazed g ordo how you managed to find these small rock outcrops. Well done and thank you so much for bringing me here. This also fills in a very rare D/T combo too. I now know what you mean by the Top Gun song, agree.[^] TFTC g ordo, a favorite. [^] This cache also ended our morning in Lerderderg but will be back soon to tackle those cache on the north side of the gorge.

Finally, my caching partner in crime SedgwickDave had returned from a trip out west so it was time for another caching run, this time in Lerderderg State Park, hopefully to grab a FTF and a D / T Combo that both Dave and I had not yet been able to get. The weather forecast was looking good with a max around 25, so Dave picked me up from my place for an early start.
This was another cache we had targeted due to the D / T combo. It was a decent walk from the Burke and Wills cache and it didn't help that I had miss read the map on my GPSr. Anyway, we eventually made our way back to the track and headed for GZ of this cache. Another fantastic spot to hide a cache and I was tasked with the job of retrieving this one. Another favorite point for you g ordo.
Thanks to g ordo for the cache and more spectacular views. TNLN

Your gentle shove at Ballan made me tackle this one in the cool of the morning today.
Despite a careful reading ( or2) of the description and climbing all over the rock face I didn't come up trumps.
Toooooo sneaky for me today so I will be back again and maybe tackle both of the Lerderderg ones in a day.
Thanks g_ordo

Originally we were a little put off by the private property signs until we read a little more and then set off up the hill. Sure is a steep start and we wanted to get back before the rain hit as there was some thunder a little way off. It did not take too long to reach the first cache and then it was only another 550m or so to this one. Once at GZ we admired the great views over the valley and then sized up our approach on the hide. Fortunately we read the siutation well and made a quick find. Nice to see an ammo can. We opened up the log hoping for a **FTF** only to see another log entry and then looked at the date and realised the note book had been recycled so claimed FTF on the new listing. We completed the signing duties and re hid. On walking back we almost beat the rain and got a few drops 5 min from the car. TFTC
Crikey Ministro, Were you sitting waiting for some listings to come through??
Cheers Gordo
