After camping the night we decided to go on a Geocache walk. TFTC

08-Feb-24
Fortunately the trail on our map pointed us in the right direction and what looked like a detour was just an (older) alternative route. Soon spotted once at GZ. T4tC Lion Fish,Civvnr&MissTreadlightly....(UK) Geocaching.com finds so far 11457

# Smile #7,173 Smile #----------Last one of this small selection at the TECT Park. Took me a minute to find the right stairs as a new sign post seems to direct you away from the stairs. Which most people must now follow as the stairs are fairly overgrown. Had no problems finding this sneaky one though. TFTC!!! Big Grin----------> All geocaches are signed as mmmPIZZA or mPZ

A bit of a tricky one! We were looking around the wrong staircase initially. A satisfying find. Swapped a little toy and picked up a trackable. A great way to finish our walk. Loved this trail, will be back

01-Jan-23
Really great track here, thanks for placing these caches!

26-Nov-22
This one was a bit tricky.
At first we had no luck and couldn't see a logical hiding spot but then had a bit of a think and realised we weren't actually in quite the right place.
A quick change of focus led to an even quicker find, Whew.
Nice placement.
TFTC.

09-Nov-22
I started looking at one set of stairs, but then realized that there must be more. TFTC.

01-Nov-22
We are walking the Te Rerenga Trail at Tect Park for the first time today. Arriving at GZ we were pleased to make a quick find here. Thanks. Not quite time for home just yet.

02-Oct-22
GAR was determined that it must be the top of these stairs. I was sure it wasn't. Occasionally I am right. Found once we got to the correct stairs. A few others came along the track with a number of off-leash dogs (are they allowed to be off-leash here? Our dog would have liked to not be on her lead) so I had to hurry the signing and replacing of the log. Thanks for the hide Lion Fish!

17-Sep-22
Hahahaha... Yep the right stairs would help, thanks to Mr PorknPuha. No so quick and easy find. But found it after a long look.
Signed the booklet and flee the scene.

Day 7 of our family holiday and we were at the park yesterday but laval spent sooooo long at the adrenaline park we ran out of time so today it’s caching and walking.

Ha ha this was a good one. Looked for a few moments at the wrong top step but something just didn’t feel quite right. Whilst the others told me we just needed to look harder I walked away (felt like far away but actually the way the path goes around and around) and I soon had it in hand with laval - yay I was right!

Thanks for the cache.

29-Apr-22
We looked for a bit no find saw hint oh there was another set of stairs where are they found it looked around again and there it was

Smile Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up at Ngongotaha … decided to head out to the TECT Park for a bit of a walk around … specifically to pick up the ‘Te Rerenga Tunnel Trail’ Adventure Lab … & any other caches along the way … this was one of the ‘other caches along the way’ … while I was busy looking at what I thought was the top of the last set of stairs, Mrs McMike2012 was walking ahead to what was actually the top of the last set of stairs, Golly, I hate it when she finds them before me! … but pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... A nice quick find thanks, once the correct top step was found!.

Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. The weather was marginal, with drizzle, rain ans heavy rain, and some rain free time too. We drove from Rotorua.to Tauranga. There were a few to mny dnfs today, I blame it on the weather,

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

A nice walk around the track for this one, no problem here.

29-Sep-21
For some reason this was a not found icon on our map, but I have no memory of being here, nor is there a log in the last 4 years. Oh well. This was a nice quick find this time. The cache container is full of all sorts of stuff.

A really nice forest and beautiful trail . We stopped here and decided to go for a walk.
Good hiding.

11-Oct-18
We found this one first, on our loop walk, as this was the first track we spotted from the carpark. Geo-junior loved the little lego character swag token so much that we had to go all the way back to the van to fetch the box of swappables. He traded a little compass for the bottle top thingy. It seems very strange that there were no other cars at the carpark. It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. TFTC

06-Jun-18
Another cache along the trail. 'The Mr' got this one on his way back from Tauranga. Nice little spot and found it without any problem thanks to the good coordinates and hint. TFTC

04-Jun-18
Not quite the last one in the series for us today as we managed to miss the first one by walking too fast taking a friends dog for a walk......The break in the rain enabled us to treat the dog to birthday walk.....

The cache is in good condition .

TFTC.

Checked on cache this afternoon... gave it a tidy up; all good. Happy caching everyone.

04-Sep-17
Found on our way back from Taupo. Thought we'd try a few but the lack of reception meant this was the only one we found!

29-Apr-17
Great set of 4, thank you

29-Apr-17
Thought I would take a "short cut" to get this one. Stopped on the side of the road and ran through the bush, down and up and around - I am not the first person to have used this method, but I was sopping wet anyway so it didn't matter. Soon arrived at the hint and looked but could not see. Opened my eyes and there it was. All nice and dry - but not me. Thanks Lion Fish for placing this cache.

29-Apr-17
I was going to walk the track and get the series ....but the rain changed my plans and zapped through tree to grab this as I was wet it didn't matter to much ....I think one more for the day and home to dry out....thanks team Lionfish for great placement ....really enjoying these caches

Last find on this walk with livee_nz. Needed to use the hint as the gps was a bit all over the place. Another cool cache on this nice walk. TFTC

06-Feb-17
Last find with Georunnermatt for TECT so we can head home to our cat. We hadn't read the description or clue so didn't have the same troubles as others and was a clean find once at GZ. Tftc's!

10-Jan-17
No luck for us today - at the end of the walk and before lunch....little patience. Found what we thought was the clue - but no.....maybe not, read some previous logs and hunger took its toll - hopefully here for us next time....but where??? Haha

05-Jan-17
Found what I thought was the hint object but the GPS was still some way off and no sign of the cache. Walked and looked up. Easy when you're actually in the right place! TFTC.

Maybe it was the heat but we stopped at a hint object and looked for a little bit in the shade before deciding we were not quite in the right spot. Once that was sorted an easy find. TFTC

17-Dec-16
Hmmm... now we have to get out of the forest again. GPS pointing 10m into the bush, so use the hint, still no find... took us way too long to give up on that spot and figure out what was going on. Coordinates slightly out for me but found eventually, just added a bit of spice to the whole thing!

10-Jul-16
This was the continuation of what turned out to be a very spooky walk today.... The lack of a ranger in the Park is getting quite obvious now, with many of the horse and bike trails very poorly maintained. Similarly on this loop track there are three trees down which I had to climb over/under or through - thank goodness the "ghost" who escorted me and the dog on our walk today didn't jump out and go "boo"! Cache clean and dry and full of goodies.

20-May-16
Yay my 70th find. Easy find too. All good here. Did a swap. Enjoyed the finds on this track. TFTC.

23/04/16 13:20 Saw cache as approaching on my enjoyable walk. Looking at the view, I guess it will all change in a few years as the pines grow. Applied a bit more cacher camo as I left. Thanks, Cheers, GC

I also spent a while looking around the wrong set of steps. You just can't see the correct set from the incorrect ones. Once you go up the first set and out in the open, you loop back to find another set and once I arrived there, I found the cache quickly as it was exposed.
Cache in good condition and Joe hadn't been here so it was all locked up tight.
Thanks Lion Fish

ha ha ha, this one led us on a merry dance, after 15mins looking at, in, and around the wrong 'top step', we were ready to log a DNF, we stumbled on and then had an ah ha moment lol. tftc Smile

06-Dec-15
Easy find. Our 4 year old needed the break. Thanks!

Searched and searched but nowhere to be found. We read the hint over and over again and searched this area. We bush bashed, climbed around, and finally gave up.

My grandad and I found this cache while on our third day of our New Zealand trip. We were travelling to Turangi for the next part of our trip.

After finding a nearby cache, we parked near this one and started the Te Rerenga Tunnel Track from here. It started drizzling and we thought that we would have to miss the walk, but it soon subsided. We were surprised that the area around GZ was semi cleared (trees etc). We had some difficulty searching for the cache but we eventually found the great hide. On to the next one!

Our thanks to Lion Fish - it is my first time in New Zealand. Greetings from Canberra!

After a caching trip to Whakatane/Ohope yesterday I figured I'd take it easy today and focus on just clearing the TECT All Terrain Park - and they really do have everything here - everything from Horses to Motocross, Trails to Mountain Biking, High Ropes to Camping Grounds. Even remote control plane air space! and now they have a K9 sanctuary - what will they build here next?!

This was actually my second visit to this spot and now that I've found it I wonder how I missed it before. My phone GPS was unless here but thanks to the hint I'm able to tick this one off - now I'm left wondering how I'm gonna find the rest here?... lets see how we go Smile

Cheers Lion fish

We really enjoyed finding all the caches here and stopped for many photo opportunities. Lots of ice still around and it was 2:30 in the afternoon. TFTC Smile

I had decided a few days ago that I would try and spend a few days in a town that I had spent a couple of years many decades ago. Nothing much has changed, there's still a big pond with a big hill next to it and a few mud pools letting off a bit of steam.Big GrinWinkRazz

It is time to put the pond behind me and head towards the beach. Didn't quite get there as there was this All Terrain TECTpark that wasn't here when I was here. The second cache on this nice walk.
Cheers for the cache.

Decided earlier in the week that a mission to clean up some caches between Rotorua and Tauranga. Also took a new Geocacher with me Sakura7, to show her the ropes and show her what geocaching is all about. A great day was had and with some fantastic locations visited, even if the weather was average to poor at best, still at least it wasn't cold. And as a bonus no DNF's thou it was close on a few.
Thanks to everyone for the placements.

Started looking at the wrong set of steps initially, as the GPS hasn't been overly accurate today with all the cloud cover. After not seeing anything on the initial quick scan I looked around and spotted the other set a bit further up. Went and checked out those ones and quickly found the cache.

02-Jan-15
Sincere apologies for the very late logging and the cut and paste logs ... long story.
Had a awesome day out with CatsandDragons exploring areas between Rotorua and Tauranga on the back roads. Came across some very clever originial hides that we hadn't seen before.
Many thanks
