Searched the area, but sadly a DNF for us here today. [8)]
We did locate an obvious spot but sadly no cache. [xx(]

Thanks for bringing me to this location. Been past this location many times in the car but never by foot. TFTC

Another interesting place to visit.... great to see where the old rail lines used to be.....TFTC
Our second cache of the day with draw four and slurpee on the way home from the launch of Ballarat parkrun
After a search around for wheelchair accessible terrain type caches and not coming up with anything I decided to expand the search. The decision made I looked up and there it was in plain view for all to see. Perhaps the recent ground works may have disturbed the usual cache location. We returned it to close to where we found it so that it was no longer in full view of passerby Muggles. The CO will need to do some maintenance as it is no longer a terrain of 1. TFTC
After being in Ballarat last w/e for Pi Day I decided to return but this time with the mountain bike to grab some of the various trail guys not that I mind walking but this seemed a better option.
Left the 4x4 and back onto the M.B to do another line these caches and on arrival it did not take long to locate.
Thanks Shamus1 for placing this cache.

This one had stumped me once before! So when I had this hand, I almost screamed with happiness! TFTC
This took a bit to find. Was looking in the wrong places for a while and Pale Moon Dancer came running with cache in hand! TFTC. Was a bit tricky.
After a bit of a scout arounf, Pale moon dancer announced she'd hand it in hand. TFTC! Lovely area. Like the use if the railway line pieces on the bridge. Took nothing. Left a trinket.

Early this morning I headed to Ballarat with Stemicmitsar for the purpose of finding some challenge caches we had both qualified for as well as a desirable D/T rating and some sundry caches.
This one took a bit of searching and fortunately being early on a Saturday evening, muggles were few and far between. The attributes really helped narrow possible locations, assuming they were an accurate reflection of the cache's hiding spot and they were. Groping around I got my fingers on the cache and then just had to release it.

Today biggles1024 and I headed out to Ballarat for a day of caching with a number of caches with significant value on the hit list.
By now we were heading for home, we noticed this one and thought that it might be a quick one so we could then continue on our way.
Once at GZ we started to look around, after a little while, ( it took a bit longer than expected ), Mark was able to get his fingers on it and we were soon signing the logbook.

Cache zombified.
Gps was all over the place so I decided to ignore it and look for likely places. Found and signed. Cache in good order.

A nice evening caching with the family. This was one of our "had to find" after an accident last year stopped us from discovering. Let's just say those steps there - avoid at all costs - unless you want to spend 5 hrs in emergency with a suspected broken ankle. So this time we took the top path and worked a treat!!
Looked and looked but the kids (and adults) got cranky and had to head home. Will come back again another day.
A quick cache this afternoon with 5 year old geokid after kinder pick up. A nice easy find and we loved looking through the tunnel. Thanks for the hide
Found on the weekend attack on Mexican caches by a couple of Kiwis and a couple of Aussies, surprisingly there were no slayings although we talked a lot about maniacal murders along the way.
Moneydork got his hands on the cache while I was trying to get the GPSr to settle.
Thanks for the cache Shamus1.

Found on a fantastic weekend away with Moneydork (Hero Husband), Locus Cache and Sushilord. It was not a quiet trip but oh so worth it! Lots of caching, lots of laughter and finally some sleep thrown in when we just couldn't carry on!
Thanks for your cache and helping make our weekend so great.
Thanks for your cache and helping make our weekend so great.
After being offered a weekend caching to and from Ballarat with Tounga and Moneydork, how could I refuse[?]
Sushilord joined us too and for 3 days we laughed and cached and laughed and cached until we could cache no more. [|)]
As for the topics of conversation, apparently mirth, maniacal murder and mayhem were the common themes for the weekend along with a few other topics
My total for a great weekend was 1 event attended in Ballarat , 113 cache finds 7 DNFs and a FTF as I wound my way home, alone, in the early morning
So many railway lines and bridges across Australia that are now closed.
Luckily caching allows us to see many fo them and to remember the past days of train travel.

We looked in all the wrong places for a while, and were about to give up, when suddenly Chunk had it in his hand. Such a relief! Thanks for all the info on the Bunny Trail - it was very interesting. TFTC.
This wasn't a quick find for me as I was looking in the wrong place having dismissed the logical spot for no reason what o ever.
Thankfully bogonghazy accompanied me on a second walk down to the brick bridge and the cache was located. I think he was ready to head home. We were pointing in that direction after attending the Souvenir Event at the Bakery.

Found this the other day with the tritonz and was sure I had logged it already, obviously not. thanks for another nice cache, had me looking for a while then the iphone stopped jumping around and the cache was soon in my hand!
We were in Ballarat up from Geelong to do some caching, and this one was looking good, so off we went for the hunt, after a bit of searching we soon had this one in hand, we signed the log and returned to the geo-mobile, Thanks for the cache Shamus1.
On a cold wet Satruday morning this turned out to be a quick find. I like the brickwork tunnels along the trail and the fencing along the top. It creates quite a nice little spot. Thanks to shamus1 for the cache.
Last find on a successful afternoon of short walk caches with geobuddy BJ. Left a pathtag, TN. TFTC Shamus1
Found with Chosen1978 on our journey back to Melbourne before flying home to NZ after attending Oz Mega 2014. TFTC
I found this cache after the blackberries found me. Nice little hiding spot. Didn't get to walk the trail today, but will have to another time. TFTC shamus1.
A not too hot summer morning with a gentle breeze and we were dashing about town and between tasks as usual on a weekend and we realised that this one was close by, and judging by the description looked to be a good detour. We had been looked at this one a few times before, with it firmly on our must get to list. After finding a nearby place to park out of the way, it was a relatively easy find. The trick here was avoiding passing muggles, with no real distractions available. Fortunately it was fairly quiet.
Thanks for the cache Shamus1.

I was on the way home but it was light enough so I had a look for this one. After a couple of minutes it was found in a highly logical spot, thanks Shamus1.
Nice quick find of this well hidden cache. Thanks again Shamus for pointing this spot out.
Quick find whilst visiting Ballarat - nice bit of history. Signed log and left penny - TFTC
geoD is travelling home for a flying solo visit to the family. Travelling solo the opportunity to stop and find a cache is a good way to break up the trip. On earl start in Townsville this morning mean this break was well needed. He was expecting a harder search but was greeted with a man made shine and rewarded with a quick cache find.
Enjoyed the short walk and break.

The bandaid left in the cache almost came in handy after being hooked in a blackberry bush. TFTC.
I'd had set aside today for a big caching day and eventually settled on caching mainly around the Ballarat area, collecting a few caches on the way there and on the way back. It proved a very fruitful caching day with 112 caches found with only a couple of DNF's and a couple on non attempts due to excessive muggle activity.
Rising nice and early at 4:45 am, I was on the road by 5:10 and at my first cache, 185km from home, by 7:10 am. I moved through the northern part of Ballarat before starting the BSRT trail (which I thoroughly enjoyed) at around 11:00 am, completing it in its entirety at 3:15pm. From there I cached around the southern Ballarat area before moving up into Ballarat city itself. Some of the caches I probably should have done earlier as it was quite busy in town by then, being a Saturday night. As the sun set and it grew dark I moved through the eastern areas of Ballarat before starting for home, caching along the way and finding my last cache around midnight in Melton; then arriving back home around 2:15 am. In total it was a 20 hour and 40 minute caching run, 584.7 km traveled of which approx 40km were on bike and 26km on foot.
The weather was great on the day too, with it starting off quite fresh in the morning but by the mid afternoon it was sunny and warm. This was my second big caching trip to Ballarat since I started caching and the standard of the caches and the scenery once again made it a fantastic day. Thanks to all the Ballarat CO's for their caches, I had a great time.
I took me a few goes to make the right approach to GZ, but after reading a few logs worked out where to go and soon had the cache. TFTC.

After a fantastic group caching ride along the Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail, I still had enough time to tackle a few more hides on my way home. Another nice easy park-and-grab thanks to pinpoint coordinates... and number 58 for the day.
Thanks, Shamus1. I'll have to bring the bike back to town and ride the 'Bunny' again... it's been way too many years (pre-caching).

While 42 below took the dog for a bit of a walk, I had a bit of a search. This resulted in another find. Then just wait around for 42below to return...too easy.

August has turned out to be a very hectic month- but the 31 days is done & dusted! GeoIndyDog has enjoyed rides in the car & walks in strange places/ not so strange places as we notch up our 31 caches. She was not at all interested in finding the cache here- there was far too much to smell here so we walked on down the trail a short way while OLDWINEBOTTLE handled the cache side of things!
Found today in the company of JungleJodes and geofiance Josh after attending the Haddon Morning Tea event.
A quick find by geofiance Josh and we were on our way to get out of the rain.
Thanks for the cache Shamus1 and it was great to meet you today

Found this one after attending the Haddon geo event with Sorcysal and Geofiance. Great quick and easy find. Thanks
We found this one at 3:35pm in the drizzle that seems to have settled in Ballarat ...and after so many crisp sunny days one shouldn't complain! Nestled in a cosy spot, we signed the log and popped a fly in to wait for the spring. First chance we've had to look at this trail, it certainly makes it easy to cross Victoria Street! TFTC Shamus
Had to head East this morning on a caching errand for Travelling Sister who resides in Western Australia. I very seldom exit to Ballarat at this Exit, I usually just keep going up the Freeway to the closest exit to home. Decided to come through town, as I had a few other things I wanted to do in the CBD. The rain was just starting to pick up, but decided to make a quick grab and log. Thanks to Shamus1 for the cache.
#1606 Heading home to the NE of the State and this one showed up straight ahead, so made a quick stop to log it. SL at 2.35pm TNLN - a clever little hide found quickly on a cold day. TFTC Shamus1 - our last in Ballarat this weekend.
In Ballarat with Team Crackers to attend the Coffee Event and to pick up some of the local caches.

After having a great dinner at "Forges" with The Coffee Clan we decided that being it was such a clear night we would head off and do a few more before going home.
We had no idea of the amount of effort that went into constructing this branch line and it was good to see only bridge left and how it came to be.
being dark we had no muggle problems and the cache was located after a short search and our names have been added to the log.
Thanks Shamus 1 for the cache and the history behind it.
