After a crazy year, it’s time to get away for a bit of R&R, and of course a cache or two.
Day seven: Target - Ballarat’s ALs & various solved puzzles.
Really enjoyed the stroll along this Avenue, getting to know our past leaders. A nice quiet spot at GZ for an easy find.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, Fergzter

What a greater way to explore the gardens and see the Prime Ministers. Thanks for an excellent cache!
I stopped by the gardens this morning to enjoy a stroll
This multi-cache was among a few caches that I elected to find
What a fabulous walk it is too [^]
Being rather good at knowing me prime ministers,
finding the answers caused no trubble at all
The fun part of course,
was trying to name each one just be looking at the faces
The game gets a lot easier after spotting Menzies
Fabulous practice for trivia nights down the local
Numbers crunched,
a short stroll took me to GZ,
where I soon tracked down the cache
I couldn't take a seat nearby to sign the logbook !!
Someone was busy painting it
*Beware the agapanthus*

Mrs. iowaPete and I made it to Ballarat. Despite the rainy conditions, we wanted to see a bit of the city and I thought this park would be a great place to explore. I noticed this multi-cache and thought it would be a terrific one to try.
Parked in one of the many spots along the drive and wandered over to the area of the busts. Of course, we had no idea of who was where. All we could do was call out the names of the ones we needed, over and over, as we inspected each name, looking for the critical piece of information to lead us to the Final. It was a nice mix of "There's one!" along with "Nope, not him." It didn't take too long, and we had all the pieces we needed.
I inputted the coordinates and looked at the waypoint on the map. Hmm... looks like we may have the proper coords! [^] Off we went to try and track down the Final.
We had to move out, and away before coming back toward gz. We didn't think we should walk on the damp, soft ground, so we stayed to the paths themselves. When we arrived at gz, I peeked in the obvious spot and located the container.
Wonderful! It's in great shape, despite the wet weather. Protected the cache while we opened it up and took care of the paperwork. Replaced exactly as found.
Happy dance in the rain. Great multi-cache!!

I stayed in Ballarat after the Beaufort event and I had plenty of time before the next 2 events so how else do you spend the day go and find some caches.
A fair bit of the morning was spent here at the Botanical Gardens doing a variety of different caches.
I walked past these while wandering the gardens and thought I wonder if there is a cache about these busts.
Looked at the app and bingo there was.
I cannot remember the names of a few of the earlier Prime Ministers but once I progressed down the path the names got more familiar as I went along.
Worked out what was required and headed off to GZ.
I soon added my name to the log.
Thanks Fergzter TFTC.

LeeLee was in town attending a nearby event so decided to tick off a few remaining caches around the lake. Headed to this one with Riddell who had done it before but tagged along for the walk while I did the calculations.
I really enjoyed this one. A well thought out multi highlighting our history.
Thanks Fergzter. A FP for the experience.
Amazing trees in the area too which we admired.

The most beautiful day we've had in August so we ditched worked and took a stroll in the gardens to get some sun. Very much enjoyed piecing together the coordinates for this multi. Thanks!
Marshall’s Geelong found this cache today with LCASS on our Ballarat adventure!
This one was pretty straight forward. A few muggles near where we needed to be!
Got the cache discreetly.

A great cache that we couldn't pass up as one of our entourage today, is chasing multi's for a challenge. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.
A day out in Ballarat with others resulted in some great times and as always, good finds. A few people in the car were targeting caches for different challenges, but I was just along for the ride... and perhaps the CITO. Thanks for placing the cache Fergzter. We are targeting multi’s today as Pwala is attempting multi month. We were able to complete this one and brush up on some history.
Nice little stroll through here on a gorgeous Autumn evening! Mrs jiwilly actually solved this a few days ago without attending the gardens (thanks google) and made the trip out here when time permitted. I really enjoyed walking through here and seeing the amazing work gone in to the monuments. Although they are running a few PM's behind (we do go through them quickly!) so we had to settle for seeing our infamous Budgie Smuggler PM Abbott as the last one there, but did take a few moments to walk through and admire the rest - especially our late Bob Hawke and the beautiful flowers left there in his memory. Thanks for bringing us here, I really appreciated and enjoyed seeing this. FP worthy. TFTC, TNLNSL, CIGC
Caching day in Ballarat for the day from Melbourne. Weather was perfect for me to come here. Beautiful botanical gardens with heap of muggles used their mobiles (possible play treasure hunt games on botanical gardens) everywhere and lucky grab the cache while they left. All good. Thanks Fergster for placing this multi

After a Creation Celebration Event in Ballarat this morning, we were out and about finding caches. Yes. I stuffed up the calculations but I do think that 1991-1996 is actually 6 years... Oh well I may have stuffed up some other numbers too. Snap made a call and we had the right location in the end! Favourite point added! Thanks for the cache Fergzter.

This multi gave me some grief back in July last year. I realised the mistake I was making and then soon had a final in hands. Cache is all good
Today I was going from Ballarat to Adelaide, with 2 events being hosted I was restricted to the time I spent in Ballarat for the morning so I went around picking up multis and puzzles with some very enjoyable locations visited. I collected a few along the way to the 2nd event of the day in coonalpyn and then finished off with half a new series in Murray Bridge. A total of just over 50 finds for the day and 500km driving.
I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. Given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After over 5000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before the end of next year. It's surprising how much is has increase since doing this.

I’m visiting Ballarat in the middle of a heatwave so the botanical gardens are a nice place to find some shade. The answers to the questions were found easily and GZ was only a short stroll away. Tftc.

I had been looking forward to this weekend for some time. The plan was to find my 10,000th cache and also fill in the last 2 spots in my phisy P81 grid for loop 15. Looking ahead at the weather and it was going to be an absolute beauty. SedgwickDave agreed to come along for the adventure.
I needed another 20 caches before the big one tomorrow, so we decided to stop every now and then along the way to pickup various caches along the way. This was quite an interesting multi, as always, I love a good multi. A couple of the numbers needed to be guessed/ googled, but in the end we had the numbers spot on and after a walk in the park, the prize was ours.
Many thanks to Fergzter for the cache. TNLN.

Mission one for the day was cache our way to the Event in Ballan. Mission two and three involved caching our way to Ballarat then caching our way to clues all to complete my hidden date calendar. With all my missions completed Neville_devil needed a wherigo in the gardens to complete his hidden date calendar so when I needed to pick up my daughter in Ballarat we thought we could do both at the same time. Then there was this bonus multi which we also managed during the wherigo. I quite enjoyed the walk along the Prime Ministers.
Thank you Fergzter for high lighting this walk that I would never had known about otherwise.

The plan today was to make our way through the B's & C's today starting in Ballan, Ballarat, Clunes, Creswick then back to Ballarat grabbing a variety of great caches along the way in the company of Simsfamily and Neville Devil.
The Botanical Gardens was the place to be this evening with numerous couples enjoying the sun and dinner on the lawns.
Log signed and replaced as found.

Information was found quite easily than a short search at GZ uncovered the container. Thanks.
After attending the event to wish Julie a safe return trip (home), we had to go and find a coouple of caches. This one was a very easy one. The gardens were quite humid today due to the hot day and the sprinklers running. Out and about with joojoo57

Having calculated GZ on a previous visit. We had the time today to visit gz. In between muggles an easy find. We certainly learnt a lot more about our political leaders doing this multi than we learnt at school. Thanks Fergzter for the history lesson.

We were very pleased that where we happened to park was actually close to where we needed to be to pick up the information for this cache. Only our two newest prime ministers are yet to be represented here and the busts are very life like and can be easily identified for the newer ones. They all gave their information willingly and the numbers were soon recalculated, which took us to the hiding place where the container was found quickly.
Thank you to Fergzter for this cache placement.

Out caching with goingplaces2. Checked out the past prime ministers and reworked the numbers from the info found. Walked to GZ and made the find. TFTC.
TFTC. Solved most of this at home before venturing to Ballarat this afternoon. Got a bit worried at GZ as we had seen a picture on facebook showing , as it turns out, this particular hide with a snake close by. Whew. No snake to be seen, but i did use a stick to get the container from it’s hide. Not taking any chances.
This was a really beautiful garden. We loved walking around and I really enjoyed this cache. I even learnt a bit more about our history of our prime ministers. TFTC

Nice walk through the gardens to find this one! Son loved working out the coordinates
I'd been meaning to journey through this multi ever since I had begun coming to Ballarat which is well over a year ago. I just never seemed to be near it or if I was I was chasing down a wherigo or on the way to an event.
Well, after participating in the CITO and attending the follow on event and finding a couple of other caches I thought it was an opportune time to embark on this one given the freezing cold weather and late hour.
Indeed I saw a set of tourists and a pair of dog walkers during the whole multi which given the popularity of the area proved my initial thoughts correct.
I very much enjoyed wandering down the walk having a look at the various busts. Although my political history pre Hawke/Fraser/Whitlam is a little hazy I had a good chuckle at the fact that political rivals both across party lines as well as intra-party are situated across from each other forever destined to be gazing upon those they spent so much energy and time destroying and unseating.
The hot seat has changed hands so quickly that the sculptor/foundry hasn't supplied the latest bust for the garden - Turnbull hasn't taken his rightful place across from Abbott as yet.
After the relevant calculations were made, upon arrival near GZ I even got to see this wise old bird acting as the cache guardian. No, I didn't chase him away, rather I waited him out and only approached after he had perched in an alternate spot. I was really chuffed to get such a close look at a bird that I often normally only make out with difficulty against branches tens of metres in the air or only hear. FP for the subject matter and subjective experience here, A.

We have spent the last two days at Sovereign Hill but today we decided to venture out for lunch and a walk to check out some other parts of Ballarat. I always love coming down to Lake Wendouree and today my main target was the Prime ministers walk. We wandered along discussing the PM's with my Kids before taking the opportunity to back track and get the info needed for this cache. From there it was a quick find in a great location not too far away. Thank Fergzter an interesting multi.
Day 2 of my Ballarat mini break and I loaded up the bike and made my way to Victoria Park and then towards Lake Wendouree. The weather wasn't really cycling friendly...cold and windy and occasionally wet...however it was good to get out.

Enjoyed completing this quick multi. Very nice park! Thanks for setting up this cache!
We were here yesterday and took a great walk along the prime minister path. Little did we know this multi was here. Made a quick trip back and soon had all the required numbers to make the find. We love this beautiful garden. A definite highlight of the trip
A great multicache learning about our Prime Ministers. Gosh I didn’t realise we had so many.
My second find in Ballarat. Great coords and thanks for the lesson. Ashamed to say I didn't know some of the names.
Great day for a stroll around the Botanical Gardens. Springtail and I quickly found the required details and set off for GZ. Unfortunately when we got there, there was a sprinkler just in the wrong place - still, at least it was a warm day! Luckily just after we arrived the gardeners turned up to move the sprinkler which made finding the cache a bit easier (and drier). And possibly two new gardener recruits! TFTC
We had an enjoyable walk around the gardens which was a lovely thing to go on a warm day... waiting while the ice cream cart was retrieving some cups for a milk shake... they close at 8pm, by the way.
TFTC and an interesting tour of our PMs.

Welfare check. Despite major work in vicinity the cache is still in place ready to be found.
I came by this way last week to find the Trees Wherigo; of course there were other caches nearby, I just hadn't considered that at the time.
Returned on a very hot Sunday, collected the info from the sculptures & headed off to GZ. It took me way longer to find it than it should have, all in good order.
Thanks for the quiz and the cache, Fergzter. Greetings from NZ.

I was really keen to try this one on our visit to Ballarat after recently reading a book about the Prime ministers (The Good, The Bad & The Unlikely). Enjoyed the stroll in the Botanical Gardens with all the autumn colours. Got the answers to the questions and quickly found the cache. We don't usually do multis but this one was fun. TFTC

The GeoFamily headed off to Ballarat for a mini-holiday over the Easter weekend, and to explore more of the area than what we normally see when we're up this way (usually to go to Sovereign Hill).
A wander around Lake Wendouree was the plan for day three and Easter Sunday. After the (long!) Wherigo, we appreciated this quick and straightforward multi. The GeoKids had a chuckle at some of the Prime Ministers' busts - they perhaps weren't as flattering as they might be.
The cache was spotted quickly enough at the GZ, but the GeoKids had a little difficulty extracting it - it was wedged in quite tightly!
Log signed, TB taken, and all replaced as found. Favourite point awarded.
