While staying at Mansfield R for a week, we've been out for a drive to check out some in the areas. This is a nice easy find but log book very wet. Thanks for the cache BernieH
Thanks for the Cache BernieH, mmmmmm apple pie! I'm afraid I left the picking a bit late, there wasn't a single apple to be had and the Blackberries have been poisoned. So I used the remaining ingredients to make two biscuits in the shape of an apple. I put them in the oven and ended up with a pear!Log was damp but still accepted my scribble.Regards from Victourer
Found with Bogonghazy and Geo dog on our way to Eildon. Thanks for placing the geocache log is pretty damp
Camping with friends at Picnic Point, we ventured into town for some Saturday morning shopping. On the way home we stopped to find a few caches. I love crumble, apple and rhubarb is my favorite. There were heaps of blackberries here, so I was glad that I was wearing long pants. The cache was found quickly, but the log is sopping wet.
School holiday family day trip to Mansfield today with the zoo being the main attraction for the trip. Grabbed a few caches along the way. Had to battle the blackberries to get to this one, luckily my legs are used to it!Log books a bit slimey but still able to be signed. Thanks for the recipe! TFTC!
Found it easily enough from the road but wasnt willing to walk through the long grass in the summer heat in case of snakes! Couldnt write on the log but definitely an easy find for anyone else willing to trek down the ditch!
Out on a 2 day TDOC road trip with McLookers, feathertop and micaparamedic and this was our next stop.
After grabbing the main cache in the area, we stopped off for a couple more as we did the drive by. No issues again and our names were soon in the logbook.
Thanks for another one BernieH...

A quick find as we stopped on the way past.
On a caching adventure today with feathertop, Sol de lune and micaparamedic.

Continuing on grabbing a couple of left over trads from the last time we were this way.
Log was a little damp, but container was good. Thank you BernieH .
It was that time of year again, although a different monarchs birthday to celebrate. Who would have thunk it that we would celebrate a Kings birthday this year, instead of our dearest Queen's.
Spending the long weekend with our muggle friends in Jamieson . Saturday was spent hitting a small ball around a soggy manicured expance of lawn at Mansfield, and Sunday was caching day .
This year we brought the Hilux, and I was itchin' to turn silver to tan.
We achieved that by picking the road to Licola. The road was average to the Mt Sunday and Silvermine Spur tracks. It all turned to the proverbial past that intersection, but we pushed on after one of the party left their vehicle at the parking point at the aforementioned intersection, and hopped in the other vehicle in the group.
It was an awesome drive in the mud, but there were a couple of members that were none too happy with the conditions, so we got up to Mystery Stone Hut and then turned back to Jamieson . There were a few incidents on a few of the tracks around the area this weekend. When we got back to "the intersection" to pick up the other car, there was a group of guys with an assortment of 4wd's pulled up, some with slight damage to their vehicles due to one of their party coming adrift and ending up in a tree. They ended up breaking 2 winches as well as a multitude of snatch straps [xx(].
There were 2 caches up Mt Sunday track that I wanted, dalerious got ftf on them before we met, so I was looking forward to going to get them myself, but this was not the weekend to do it; too much rain meant things could end badly, and we would also be just another statistic. Just not worth it.
So our group of 2 cachers and once a year honorary group of cachers (muggles) went on to find other doable caches instead. This made the timid passengers happy, so it was win, win all the way.
We didn't sign many logs this weekend, but we sure as hell had a good time, seeing some awesome sights and spending some quality time with good people .

Found with tupiasmum this pm. The sweet sounds great. Will have to try the recipe. Beginning to rain on the hills around. Thankyou.
Found today with Mrs deshut, could eat a serve of apple and blackberry crumble about now. Would be great to see the tree in spring time. Many thanks for the cache.
Log is a bit damp, tipped water out of the container and sealed bag again.

With echidna44. We didn't understand the name of this cache till we were standing under the tree and looked up and saw.. Apples!! how clever BernieH!
Staying at Bonnie Doon with pinnacle333, we cached on our way to Goughs Bay.
We didn’t make the pie but we did find the cache. Thanks BernieH.

Fifth stop, trucking our way home from delivering a load of steel.
I seriously considered getting out while my driver was at the random breath testing station that we encountered on the way to the lake shore, but that would have drawn unwarranted attention.
So we pulled up in the vicinity for the second time today.
Thanks, BernieH. I spotted the cache immediately. Well named.
Now I'm hungry for pie.

After dropping off a load of steel to a nearby property, nirgalagrin and I decided to cache our way out of the area.
As you do in a ten tonne truck.
Most of the apples are not yet ripe enough
However, the cache was picked straight away.
Took a few photos of a beautiful Superb Fairy Wren.
Thank you for placing this cache and highlighting the area, BernieH. Fortunately for us, the RBT had packed up and moved on by now. [^]

This time of the year I pick a lot of blackberries . I don't think to combine with Apples but right here both options are available.
Of course I found a much easier way out.
Thanks for this interesting spot.
Some apples were decaying in the late summer heat.

Would rather be making a crumble than getting to gz through the long grass & prickles. Geohubby took one for the team. Quick find. TFTC
Getting to GZ was an adventure. Long grass and thorny branches. Glad to log this one. Tftc. Cache wet and log damp but still able to log.
A trip to check out all the awesome places in eastern Victoria. TFTC.
A short treatorous trek. Glad cache was an easy find.

Found with Kittykatch, Joolay, Youban and Tankengine while in the area caching for the weekend.
We were lucky with the weather having the worse already pass us, but some roads were still closed from the flooding.
This cache: A quick find here. No dramas. Tftc!!!

Awww lovely tree. But muddy but managed.
Wonderful to be visiting the area with Dty73, Youban, Tankengine and Kittykatch. The rally was canceled because of the floods but already had the accommodation booked and paid for so came anyway. Glad the rain has stopped and the sun is out.
Thanks for getting me out and about BernieH

Just the title of this one had my mouth watering, will have to try this recipe. Great day for a stroll in the sunshine. Nice easy find. TFTC
Tftc. Booklet is damp and some water was in container. On our way back to northen vic and loving the area
The apple and blackberry crumble was very delicious this morning, just what we needed for a late breakfast. The fit Triton cautiously stepped through the crumble without disturbing it too much.
Thanks BernieH for the appropriate cache placement.

On a Geocaching weekend with day1976 and my little Jimny. We camped at Running Creek for two nights, and went out on adventures from there.
Mmmmmmmmmm crumble.
I went through the blackberries, because I was wearing sensible clothing, and day1976 chucked me the pen.

Found this cache on yet another adventure with Ilukaperi. Driving her little Suzuki Jimny over mountains and through rivers, it was a wonderfully adventurous day.
Having made our way up to camp at Running Creek last night, we got up early this morning with plans for a big loop. Off to the old slate mine on Mitchells track, then descending down and down Howqua Hills Track to the Howqua river. Following the tracks through the camping areas to Sheep yard Flat and beyond, before heading north the Merijig, then across to Goughs Bay, before heading back to camp.
Some people are just plain evil.
It was a warm day and so of course I was wearing shorts. I took one look at where to go and sent Iluka in instead. I helped by tossing her the pen so she could sign both our names into the log book.
Nasty!

Easy find… but log book is wet again, looks like there may be a hole in the plastic bag… last nights storm wouldn’t have helped… tftc
Found at 12.15pm. Our first foray after lockdown. Freedom!! The tree was in blossom and looked magnificent.

Quick find thankfully because a couple cars went past and I am pretty sure they thought we were having a group wee session on the side of the road TFTC
Quick park and grab whilst on our way back to our camp. Saw this one on arrival, so jumped out, signed the log and back in before the kids even thought about getting out TFTC!
Thanks BernieH for Apple and blackberry crumble. Last one for me today, back to Mansfield. Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment
I prefer both apples and blackberries separately, not mixed where the individual flavours are spoiled by being mixed. I prefer the pure flavours. Unfortunately there were no fruit of any sort around this location except a few rotting apples on the ground. Half a circumnavigation of the tree revealed very few blackberry plants and a cache which wasn’t particularly well hidden, but in this location I don’t think it matters much, as it’s extremely unlikely that it will be found by a Muggle casually walking past.
Dissappointed...no apples or blackberries, despite it being the right time of year. Must be some well fell birds in the area. Tftc and the recipe.
Raemoz found it while staying with Culvet who also found it. Quite easy as not well hidden.

Thank goodness for winter. Deciduous trees lose their covering and blackberries are dormant. That led to a quick find at GZ with the cache being retrieved without any hassles. The hardest part was getting down the small bank with loose stones under foot. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks BernieH for the cache. However the temptation of Apple Crumble is still vivid in our imaginations.
On way back from visiting birthplace of great grandmother, Gaffney’s Creek, quick find.
Beware of slippery slope.
Thanks for pie recipe which I will try on return to Western suburbs of Sydney, my home place - this get a favourite from me.
TFTC.,

Found on our way from Jamieson to Bonnie Doon to visit a favourite relative. A quick easy find as it was visible as I approached GZ. It took a little longer to retrieve as I needed to concentrate on avoiding the blackberries but luckily they were not as widespread as the apples. Thanks for a great cache. TNLN SL
Found today, but we will need to provide all the ingredients to enjoy this recipe. Wrong time of year for fruit picking. With the nights now getting cooler, a fruit crumble will be welcome.
Finally got to have a couple of days off so I headed up to Molesworth for a few days of R&R and caching.
After attending the dawn service at Boonie Doon I was heading up to Mt Buller and picking up caches as I go.
After passing through Mansfield I took a detour to find a couple more on the way.
I must admit I’m not a big fan of this recipe and as there were no apples or blackberries I’m safe to say I cannot taste it today
Thank BernieH TFTC.

I could almost taste the crumble as I read the cache notes.
Snapping out of it,
I soon found this cache ...
... needs custard

I'll give that recipe a go on he campfire when the weather cools down

While on my way to the Mt. Buller event I was passing by this one, I had to stop to see why it wasn't a average d/t.
I arrived and headed down, I eventually spotted what I was after but had to circle around to find the easy access which I did and the log was signed.
Don't you just love the smell of fermented fruit.

After attending the MEGA event on the weekend, Snickersallan, RoddyC and I continued on our drive around the area today to find a few caches we missed over the weekend.
This one was found easily, SL then returned cache to its hide.
Didn't realise this was an apple tree until Mrs RoddyC informed me. Now I realised the connection with the cache name.
I also have a yearning for pie!!!
