It has been more than 28 days since the last owner note.

4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention.

I am temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary.

Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 28 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.

If you require more time please be sure to post a note (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require.

For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the listing and post a new note every 28 days to keep everyone up to date or the cache will be treated as an abandoned cache and archived without further notice.

02-Sep-16

Loved this one

27-Jun-16
Passing through the area, I had a quick look here today in the rain. Not my first DNF at this spot, alas!

08-May-16
I don't think it's there anymore

26-Sep-15
GPS was pointing to a particular tree but we couldn't seem to find it.

08-Aug-15
Phone kept pointing to a specific tree, 3 of us looking and could not find it. Will have to back another time and check both of them again.

02-Jul-15
Found with Janzie22, Great Cache, very interesting spot hide, not where you would expect to find it, bit of a trickier one! TFTC!

02-Jul-15
This was a tricky little one! The gps suggested one main spot where the cache could be hidden but it took a little while to finally find it. Pretty clever considering that the cache can very easily blend in with its surroundings most of the time. TFTC!

02-Jul-15
Couldn't find it

26-Jun-15
Found on a side trip to home.
Yep it IS there.
No Maintenance required.
Nice park, saw something jump out of the water a couple of times.
TFTC. Razz

08-Jun-15
Dissapointed after a fun day hunting

28-May-15
Decided to have a road trip sort of day today.
I'd noticed that by heading south I could pick up a cache with a new hidden date (I only had 4 left so this would make it 3) and a new D/T combination (making it 60).
And of course I'd pick up a few other caches on the way...
END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION
After a DNF left the Ducks Unfed, I walked on to this one.
Again, no sign of anything but at least here GZ has a lot more options, but no finds since January ( when there were usually a few finds per month) means a cache check is in order.

28-May-15
As per my DNF log.
No finds for 5 months means a cache check is in order here.

16-Feb-15
Coords lead about a metre into the water.

21-Jan-15

28-Dec-14
0 from 2 today Sad
I wonder has it been moved in all the traffic from Christmas lights?

26-Dec-14
Couldn't find this one either, gps struggled, but we were still pretty certain on the spot, just could not find.

17-Dec-14
What a tricky cache. Having been and looked in many a spot with the tempremental phones not settling down we all but gave up. After a cryptic clue from soldier boys we had to wait until a day we could actually both head out. Within seconds we had spotted the cache and felt very VERY silly having not spotted this cache sooner?! TFTC

17-Dec-14
Finally found this one thanks to soldier boys. Thanks guys you were awesome. Great sneaky hide. Phones were not playing nice today but a finds a find Smile tftc

12-Oct-14
Can't tell you how excited chrissybunce was when pdbunce found this on a stunning sunny sunday. After a few too many visits we were able to locate the cache. This cache proved to be a prickly one!

27-Sep-14
Having a dnf here in March, we knew this would take a while, so brought a picnic lunch and bread for the ducks. We spent FAR too long being brush turkeys. Happy to have the smiley and cross this one off the dnf list. Looking forward to retuning in a few months to check out the Christmas lights. Tftc xo

26-Sep-14
What lovely spot. The cascades, the birds and the giant koi near the bridge. Excellent. Thanks for bringing me here. The cache was a little hard to spot, but persistance paid off. Tftc.

08-Sep-14
Tried once again with no luck. I am so sick of this one.

04-Jul-14
Searched bit GPS is sending me into the water

03-Jul-14
Spent a lot of time trying to find this. Going by the logs it's a tough one and the GPS shows it in the water.......Surely not! Any clues?

29-Jun-14
Before joining up at the Gangsters for the day, The Rats and I made a few quick finds around Narellan.

The Rats had also been to this one before and was even the last name in the log Red Face. TFTC!

29-Jun-14
There was time for one more Gangsters gathering before we headed off on holidays. Today big numbers wasn't on our minds, we were more interested in a fun days caching and thats what we had.

A funny story goes with this cache as per the nearby one. I actually found it a few months ago but it appears I didnt log my find so as we approached the cache today it looked very familiar to the point I lead everyone right to GZ and despite all the recent DNF's I could put my hand straight on the cache. The cache was re-logged and now my name appears twice and I will properly log the cache this time,

This cache is still in place.

Thanks

25-Jun-14
Looked all around and got wet, but still not luck

14-Jun-14
After a look high and low no luck are there any hints available

07-Jun-14
There's been a number of DNF, three of us had a look it's not there Sad

26-May-14
A number of DNFs, could the CO please check on this one. Thanks!

24-May-14
Despite my best efforts, I could not turn up this cache today.

Adding my name to the lists of DNFs. Must be time for a cache check by the CO.

Cheers

25-Apr-14
No luck

23-Mar-14
This was a pleasant walk from feed the ducks cache not too far away, but unfortunately we did not have the same success. We noted that others have had trouble here and it's been a long while since this cache had been found. Therefore, we didn't spend a lot of time or effort searching and dnf it. Beautiful spot, so thanks for bringing us here! Good luck to the next punters xo

24-Jan-14
Couldn't find it, spent almost an hour looking

20-Jan-14
Impossible

19-Dec-13
No luck so went to look at Xmas lights.

06-Dec-13
I'd suggest updating the hint coz it only makes the experience frustrating.

04-Dec-13
hard yakka that one! Had to resort to hint and then think hard!
Thanks for the very good cache and hunt. That definitely got 'the little grey cells' working.

18-Nov-13
Lots of tough caches in this area! The weather didn't help much either!

26-Oct-13
Hurray! After a paf I can finally tick this cache of the list. I definitely wasn't searching at the right level. Looking forward to showing this cache series to a few caching friends.

04-Sep-13
I didn't log a maintenance request simply because I couldn't find it. As noted in my request, it hasn't been found in nearly 3 months and there's been 10 DNFs during that time. I thought that justified a polite request for a confirmation visit by the CO, but I apologise if you feel your time has been wasted.

04-Sep-13
After failing to find this back in June and seeing no 'Found It' between now and then I was always going to wait for confirmation that this cache was still in place and findable before attempting again. As such I placed it on my watch list and have seen a steady stream of 'Didn't find it' logs delivered to my email but no word from the CO. In August I made what I consider a polite note requesting the CO perform a check. It's so much more motivating searching when you know there is something to find. The next two emails regarding this cache were a 'Didn't find it' and a 'Needs Maintenance' and I thought "Fair Enough". Quickly to follow was an 'Owner Maintenance' log and I thought "That was quick, I got no response back in August with my polite note" and then set about making a time today to attempt to cross this one off my list. As I read the 'Owner Maintenance' log I was surprised at the (over?) reaction by the CO over a simple check and then was astounded by the lecture we all received about logging a maintenance as I felt that the previous cacher was justified as there had been no find for close enough to 3 months and my own note requesting the same did not get a response.
I'm happy to say after all of that, that after a good 20 minutes of good old fashioned searching that I was able to sign the log sheet and finally claim a smiley here. Thanks Team Soupbones for another well-hidden-while-in-plain-sight cache but not for the lecture.

03-Sep-13
Had a look for this one on the way out and the way back, but no joy. Given all the DNFs, any chance of confirming it's still there? Ta.

03-Sep-13
10 DNFs and not far off 3 months since the last find - can the CO confirm it's still findable? Thanks!

03-Sep-13
Headed down to the cache site with a spare in case this one has gone, but as I got there, I saw the cache, untouched for a while it seems.
Please don't log a maintenance on a cache because you cannot find it. Maintenance logs are designed for when a cache container or log is damaged, destroyed and in need of replacement. DO NOT log a maintenance on a cache simply because you cannot find it. Instead try harder next time. Neutral

So the cache is in fine condition, and I suggest looking harder people. I will raise the difficulty level up a notch since this one has so many people stumped. I am not sure why as it is in plain site.

03-Sep-13
I think many cachers simply don't understand what a 'needs maintenance' is when you log it.
From the Geocaching site-
'If you find a geocache that is in need of some help (e.g. container is cracked, logbook is wet), please post a "Needs Maintenance" log on the geocache page so the geocache owner and the community is notified. This log adds an attribute to the page (looks like a red wrench) to alert other geocachers of the needed repairs.'

So by logging your basically telling everyone that the cache is broken, when you just haven't found it.
A maintenance log should not really be used when a cache has a bunch of DNFs attached to it. MOst cache owners when seeing a cache with months od DNFs will check. we do not have to inform anyone at all if the cache is still there. If the cache is gone, then best to log a perform maintenance on the cache.

Personally I check my caches regularly, so if there is 3 months of DNFs and I haven't said a word, you can bet the cache is still there.

Logging a maintenance also brings up annoying announcements on the Geocaching web site when you try to submit new caches.

I just think it should be used for what it is meant to be used for, and not because a bunch of people simply cannot find a cache. And if people have an issue with my reaction to this, that is there problem. This happens a lot.

Its simple. If you can't find it, log a DNF. cache owns will check after a few.

23-Aug-13
With 2 months worth of DNFs, perhaps the CO could check this so we know whether to try again

21-Aug-13
Still no luck with this one. Though it might be looked at sooner to make sure it's still there!

02-Aug-13
Very hard to find this one GPS was taking me near the water! Will try again after there is a found good luck

20-Jul-13
Didn't find this one today. Perhaps muggled looking at the number of DNF's. Will be back once someone logs a find.

20-Jul-13
After doing caches #4 and #3 in the series with llama_boy thought we might try this one again given our misadventure the first time. We had a poke around, tried a different approach to last time, but still came up empty handed - then I checked my phone. Hello, a Team Soupbones cache listed? Maybe a chance for a FTF to make up for our failed attempt last time on this cache . . .

20-Jul-13
Unfortunately another attempt at this cache was not successful. But we shall return!

14-Jul-13
Dnf. The trees look a bit broken.....

06-Jul-13
We decided to walk past this one to look for the next Soupbones cache in this series. A lot of DNFs and hints at a misleading clue were the deciding factor. Hope there are no issues with the cache. Thanks, anyway.

15-Jun-13
Heh! Looked for it after the first in the series. Failing to find it decided to move onto the third. After finding it we came back here with renewed confidence. But still no luck! Still pretty happy to have gotten a couple of caches today. The cascades are a lovely spot.

12-Jun-13
After finding the first in this series I though that Team Soupbones standards had begun to slip. I was brought right back to reality with this one! Despite searching for a good 10 minutes and then being joined by GazMag for a further 15 we just couldn't find the cache not any clue or trace of it. Even the rain which was coming down in buckets didn't deter me.

12-Jun-13
Arrived at GZ to find "ThaFlava" searching for the cache. We spent the best part of 15-20 minutes but despite our best efforts, the cache eluded us. Maybe next time.

Tks ... Team Soupbones ... GazMag

08-Jun-13
What a difference it makes when you take off the sunnies, retuning from the other once , a quick find was made. TFTC

08-Jun-13
This one had us backwards and forwards for a while. Enjoying a great days caching with J+J.au. We found some very challenging caches and finished up with a 100 percent strike rate today which was rare for us. Lots of fun. Thanks SL..TFTC

07-Jun-13
This cache is a lot easier to find by not referring to the hint! Found with Rainbow Spirit and Team Canary, thanks.

07-Jun-13
After being told that the clue was falsely ruling out search areas, we returned for a fairly quick find.

TFTC.

07-Jun-13
We spent twenty minutes here on the way to and from the last of the series. (We did them backwards!?!) But, we couldn't spot the cache.

07-Jun-13
After DNFing this cache in the morning with Team Canary, we came back in the afternoon with extra support (jkcourtz) and a new helpful hint. J from jkcourtz found it in the end, thanks J. I must say the posted hint was a complete red herring, and caused us to waste a lot of time.

08-May-13
Found with the lunch crew. Not sure why this one was ingenious? It's a good cache and tricky, but not ground breaking..
Anyway, we signed under noodles. The cache we found was definitely a micro, not a small.

08-May-13
I found a cache, but no signature from so I am unsure if it is the genuine cache in place.
Anyway the one I found now has been signed by me.

08-May-13
Just found the micro, and yes, only Noodles has signed. The earlier logs led us to think we were looking for something ultra crafty...

It's good, quality... but not ingenious. Are the earlier logs mislogged?

TheRomulans will provide a photo to the CO to ensure we also found the right cache. It has to be... it's a very standard micro.

Great little walk this, Soupbones.

08-May-13
Something strange going on with this cache. We found the same one as Noodles... and certainly the cache was not "ingenious" as another logger has said (did he find another nearby cache perhaps?)

Found with Rawlington3rd, Mike250.

Providing photo to CO...

08-May-13
Thanks soupbones, I have edited the log accordingly. Sad face! I really enjoyed finding that cache!

07-May-13
Unfortunately the one raindoctor found was not the cache but the original one planned for a spot nearby that got lost, I suspect the local wild life got it. I replaced it with the micro that everyone else has found since before it got published.
Sorry raindoctor....

07-May-13
Thanks raindoctor.
Is is possible to retrieve the one you did find and leave it somewhere. Take a photo and pm it to me please.
I was going to add that cache to a fifth in the series.
You will have an advantage to a degree knowing what to look for. Smile

04-May-13
I am still in disbelief at the ingenuity of this cache. One of the best caches yet!

Driving home from Canberra to the Northern Beaches we saw three caches around here that hadn't been found. What a great idea for a rest stop along the way - we'd find four caches with a possible three FTFs! It was not to be.

This was the first cache attempted but we found it very difficult as we had no idea what the owner's hides would be like. Easy? Out in the open? Clever? Hard? We had no clue. So after a 10ish minute search we gave up and decided to look elsewhere.

After DNFing numbers 3 and 4 we decided to look for this one again before attempting number 1. Still no luck, and it was getting late (and dark). Will leave it to someone with more experience of this owner's hides to FTF these.

05-Apr-13
Wow, what a cache. Found with Geobuddy, just as we were about to give up. TFTC!
