As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 30 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness. As per my log below, I found what looked to be the cache container smash to bits lying in some timber downstream 50m away from GZ...and what was possibly the log in a mass congealed pulp of paper...and removed it. If this somehow wasn't the cache...then it's gone either way. I'm placing a NA log in the hope the owner may replace it...if not...then it probably needs to go.

Reperio at 1000.

Well this was certainly one of the more bizarre and memorable caches I've found. With half a day to do as I please...I set my sights for this one. Having not been found for almost 5 years...I was prepared for anything. I was accepting that this walk would either yield a cache find...or an archive log...and it ended up being both. I made my way to Mt Werong...and then followed Mt Fatigue trail down to the locked gate at the junction of Fatigue Trail and Limeburners Track. With the GPS telling me the walk was 5.69kms...I set of at a reasonably quick pace to try and avoid the heat coming back up to the car. The walk itself there was great...and after just under an hour...I was at GZ...and this is where the fun began. The GPS led me right to the most logical spot...but after 5 minutes searching all around it...there was nothing to be found. I widened my search area looking around at the most likely spots to hide a cache...and nudda! Having come this far...I widened the area to about 50 meters which led me all the way to the creek...and couldn't see anything distinct...that is...until I turned around and looked down the creek...and saw some old remnants of an old broken up plastic container. I got slightly excited until I looked at the bits of the container...and I realised there was no log anywhere to be seen. Spent the next 40 mins or so digging around the fallen timber in the hope that something more prominent might appear...and amazingly...it did...well sort of! What I found was an old plastic bag with a clump of what looked to be paper in a mass congealed blob...which I could only take as maybe...maybe...being the log. I scratched my name in it...which just tore through...and picked up what I could find that wasn't natural...and removed it. The slow walk back up to the car in the heat certainly took a bit longer than I was hoping for...but managed to get back in just over an hour...but it took a little bit out of me.

So...as far as I'm concerned...what I found was most likely the cache...but I can't be 100% sure...but I'm going to claim it as completing it took a fair effort to do so. Unfortunately though with no cache at GZ...I'll have to place a NA log on it in the hope that the owner can replace the cache...or at the worst...archive it. I'll leave it to the powers that be.

Loved the area...enjoyed the walk...

Drove by again today, and alas still did not have time to make the 4km walk. I can confirm that both gates are still locked up tighter than a drum, and I predict that they will stay that way.

This is certainly a walk-only cache now!

It doesn't look like you'll ever be able to drive here again: http://forum.australia4wd.com/index.php?/topic/19994-limeburners-track-still-locked-out-for-now/

I have plans to walk in here in a couple of months time. Here's hoping that I find the cache that has gone four years without being shown any love.

Went passed here on the 28th of August and the gates are still closed.

Still locked up tight down there, and from what I have heard that will not be changing for some time.

We went with grand plans of walking down to find this neglected cache, however time ended up being against us.

Looks like it may be closed down there to vehicles for quite some time... There are bug gates at both entrances.

I was going to head here next weekend, but just found the following on the NPWS website:

Limeburners camping area will be closed to off-road vehicles and trail bikes for rehabilitation works after Easter 2008 until further notice.

Came in from the wilderness for this and camped nearby once I had found the cache. Time has taken its toll on this one and the plastic is now cracked and brittle and really sould be replaced.

Made our way down limeburners after spending the night at yerrandrie, thanks for bringing us here .

After a slow and steady descent into the valley from the north, the actual cache find was easy enough. Great cache this far from anything. There are lots of new signs about, so keep your wheels on the official track or get ready to spend up big. 1000th Find! Thanks.

We came in from the north and after parking the car about 1&1/2 kms from the cache we traipsed on down the track to Murruin Ck. It's steepish in places but not particularly testing to walk. The creek side cache setting was......creeky. We made no swaps here. And yes, come and see why sections of national parks get closed to vehicles.

Found in company of Team Webguy on our Easter Weekend camping epic.
A very interesting drive down to this one from Yerranderie.
Much of the area appears to be abused by unthinking people in 4wd's and on dirtbikes who prefer to make their own trails, rather than staying on the existing dirt roads. Sadly, it's only a matter of time before NPWS come down hard and close the area off completely.(/rant end)

We found this one without too much difficulty.
Took - Alien Abduction book
Left - Something Red Face

Thanks for a fun cache and a sleepless night! Razz

This was one of the highlights of the trip, the descent into Limeburners was a lot of fun but not particularly hard. Easy to find, and a nice size too. Had left my stash of PS2 games in the Paj so swapped nothing today.

Like Wally said, it's very disappointing to see how people are ruining it for everyone, attempting hill climbs, gouging huge mud trenches, won't be long and this area will be closed off for good if this keeps up. Saw the ranger as we were descending down into Limeburners off the ridge.

Don't see any reason to camp here with so many trail bikes chewing the place up, would be nice when they were not here.

Cheers

Lovely place for a stash. We were on a 4WD trip and came along this place. The box was pretty exposed so I took the liberty to cover it a little bit better.

What a cache! and what a lovely place. Camping at this place has become a bit of a yearly tradition for the Ozkateer boys, nice to have a cache here. We were here alone for three days, bliss! TFTC.

Havn't been caching for a while and was out this way for a nice easy find, unfortunatly we ran out of time to get the others in the area.

Swapped a bottle opener for a Jim Beam Key Ring

We went down Limeburners on the way back from Yerranderie. The descent to the creek was certainly interesting. Reception was a little scratchy at GZ but after allowing the GPS time to settle it led us in the right direction. Thanks 2 Dogs.

Took a sharpener and the two TB's, left a small remote control car.

Hi great drive second one for the weekend. left travel bugs for a trip into the wilderness. Few motor bike muggles around but managed not to get sprung. Thanks Pam

A moderately easy find with some of the 4WD club in tow. It was actually young Leya R who found it...what a beauty! It's the biggest cache I have seen in my short caching career.

I knew there were caches out this way, but as this was my first time along this trail, I didn't know that we'd be driving right past...lucky I had them stored in the GPS! This was our second find for the day and fourth overall cache where we included members of our 4WD club...possible Geoconverts. Light tree cover confused the GPS a little, but not enough to matter.

We took the Bananas book and left a small puzzle purchased from the NPWS centre in the Warrumbungles.

Although others walked to this cache, I saw no reason not to drive the GeoPatrol down to it...hoping there would be somewhere to turn around, which there was.

Thanks very much 2 Dogs.

ToolKit and Swampgecko saw this cache from different directions at the same time. ToolKit launched himself at the cache and just managed to grab it before the outstretched arms of SwampGecko reached it.

Took the tools and left the Bear from Echo.

Thanks 2 Dogs.

As a part of the 4x4 weekend all left the car park together but is wasn’t long be for it was one for the young and the old. All we saw of the great dive was the dust after Toolkit had landed.

Took glow ring and left Hand and nail cream

Our first find. We were out here with The Rats on a recent 4x4 weekend and they introduced us to this fun sport.
TNLN but loved the experience..... Thanks 2Dogs.

The Landie crew were out for an over nighter. Our track home led to the flat for lunch, so we took the opertunity to find the cache while the hot dogs had their hottnes installed. The cache was in good nick and a relatively easy find. The kids swapped a Banana's in PJ's book + Wallace and gromit coloring set for the watch. A great area, a probably summer destination Smile

Well regardless of the big wet in Sydney, we set off on a 4WD expedition that would have us sliping and sliding all over the place. Spent the night at this lovely spot. Put the 4WD's through their paces. Swapped something for something - I cant remember.
Cache is in good condition, Thanks 2 Dogs

Out with the 4WD-club for the Canberra Day long w/e. I got a bit stressed when the lunch spot got changed but we only got closer! The crew now got confirmed that I'm a bit crazy - instead of having lunch I'm running of over the hills...

Cache in good conditions. No swaps.

Has anyone else noticed that most state forests seem to have correction facilities in them and that the prisoners wear green? It is not lime green but a more forest green, you would have to wonder who came up that colour choice.
When you are kept awake all night by some possums having an orgy above your head or at least we hope it was possums you tend to wonder about such things. The rain had stopped during the night and morning bought the promise of a beautiful day. After leaving possum lodge we headed deeper into the wilderness travelling twisting and winding roads with no sign of another person.
Even after reaching our destination we found no one and had the place to ourselves. The cache was a challenge to find as we had no satellite coverage from about 100 metres out and the clue was not much help. With a bit of stuffing around you will be able to find it. We swapped a spooky book for the chamois. As we headed home we wondered why no one else has done any of this caches as we had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves.
