I'm on a wee road trip to southern Hawkes Bay (or is to northern Wairarapa?) on an attempt to clear the Vikings Geoart, with a bit of freedom camping down at the coast. (Apologies for the generic logging)Today it's the run up from Wellington, over the track and up to Dannevirke before heading out into the back roads.Another mushy log. TFTC.Find #6217 at 8 January 2024 10:31 am
?????? On a road trip with part of Team BOP and enjoying ourselves It is the first time since covid and just like old times Done all our solving for the Viking trail beforehand and put them on an offline list To collect this trip and a few others. Weather quite windy and few showers Lots of fun to be out again. Thanks to all the COs
Matariki weekend and a team of us from BOP have ventured south for a caching weekend. The team consists of TNXPro, NZFlossy, McJandals and DavidsonClan. Logs signed as Team BOP. Weather cold wet and windy but that wont stop us on our mission. Nga mihi for the cache hides.
With Matariki being a new holiday, part of Team BoP hatched a plan to collect a geo art series in the wairarapa and of course others along the way there and back. I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. Its just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.
Another skino-ized cache, still there all good and replaced as found.Day two of a local road-trip weekend in the company of Manawatu cachers; Today it's Geodatum. I'd solved the Vikings series of puzzles out Dannevirke way and wondered when I'd get a chance to make a dent. I messaged the geodatum couple to see if they were keen on a roadie and Yes was the reply. I passed on the list produced by a recent finder(s) and some of the final GZs along with an 0900 meet-up in Ashhurst. An 11 hour day in great company of M and G and 57 finds was the total for me; a couple of Multis, an Ad Lab series, a couple of Trads both listed and Archived as well as a 'couple' of puzzles. We explored the back roads of Southern Hawkes Bay and enjoyed some of the gravel roads. Just the two cyclone damaged places, both navigable by the Dualis. Thanks to all COs, bust especially watcache for his awesome Geo art series, that must have taken some serious effort, well done.
With Gap (of Fap and Gap) Were on a big Easter weekend excursion visiting Vikings and anything else in between.Easter Saturday: A second cache on our archived list. The hint was specific and easily spotted. A little scratching around to find this one, and its still in good order after 2+ years of sitting dormant. Thanks skindo. TFTC.
our easter travels and another Skindo archived cache we have spotted.ducks aplenty nearby and a relative quick search around and soon found cache.TFTC
#11,480. Park and grab on Weber Road in Waitahora. Fortunately, GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Quick find. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Today's hunt for caches are those that are a few kms south of Dannevirke. I try to individualise each log where I can apart from the generic first line.
No ducks were in sight today.
Cheers for the cache.

#5828. A plan was hatched several weeks ago to do a mid-winter caching raid on deepest darkest skindoland, partly to build up finds on skindo caches for a challenge and also to get the new souvenirs launched a few days ago. So Infoferret, Ethness and I drove over on Friday night and stayed at E's family home in Greytown. Then after stocking up on food and fuel we were off north heading to Pongaroa and Dannevirke via 50+ cache stops. Heading into Dannevirke but I noticed this cache had two trackables. It was well after dark when we stopped here so I needed a torch to find this cache. May have added a fresh log sheet. Too many caches done today to remember all the details. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding the cache here skindo. Picked up two trackables. Lucky last find for me for the day. A total of 38 finds and the team got over 50.
On a Queens Birthday caching trip, getting some ungot Skindo caches. Dropped of 2 x trackables.
Found this while on a caching trip with Swambali. Took some time to dry out the log before placing back. TFTC
The only muggle was a bull in the paddock nearby but I don't think he'll let on. TFTC.
#3407 Thanks for another smilie. Quick find where all good at GZ.
Did you know that planning has started for a Mega Event in Wellington in 2018? Check out the details on the [Wellington Event NZ (WENZ) Website](https://sites.google.com/site/wenzgeo2018/home) or visit the event's page on [FaceBook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/590545297801072/).
Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn't be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU. For our bit, all we need to do is find and log the cache that was carefully placed for our personal enjoyment. As we log it we should consider that the Cache Owner also needs to maintain it - when the log sheet fills up, they must replace it. When the container becomes full of water, they need to empty it. When the container is broken, they need to repair it. When it goes missing they need to find or replace it. Well..... the great news is we can do our bit too - make sure your log doesn't take an entire page - just a name and date. If full of water, empty and dry the cache as best as possible. Be careful when handling the cache and make sure you replace it where you found it. If it has a bag, seal it. Just remember - the Cache Owner showed respect to you by placing the cache - please respect them and fellow cachers that follow you by being careful with the cache. And if you have a spare log sheet and the cache you are at needs one, please leave it behind. Finally, if the cache does need maintenance, please let the Cache Owner know - you can log a Maintenance Log or you can drop a line to the Cache Owner. Above all - have fun and remember the Geocaching Code.

On a caching foray with EthNZ into the Wairarapa today - No 44 in the race to 50 in a day, car, mind, body and phone battery willing! I like these quick finds - easy even in the fading light. TFTC.
Easily spotted at dusk. Out on a numbers run with Infoferret so log signed either with my name, or for speed, 'IE' or 'EI'. TFTC
Out on a day trip to Waihi Falls collecting a few caches along the way. This was our first stop on the trip and great to be back in skindo land again. No ducks about today and a quick find between passing vehicles. TFTC skindo.
Off into the Wairarapa today for a little expedition with edvern - Pahiatua Track, Pahiatua-Pongaroa Rd, Coonoor Rd, Waitahora Rd, Dannevirke and back to Palmerston North. We hoped the forecast wild weather would not be too wild and indeed it was quite a pleasant winter's day for the most part. We were quite happy with our success rate too - 24 out of 26 caches. The other two must be missing!
An attractive pond - but hadn't attracted any ducks today that we noticed. Cache quickly found here. TFTC

Found on a drive through back country Wairarapa. Enjoying the scenery and the company of the geodatums. A delightful place to stop, but the icy wind drove us back into our car fairly quickly. Thanks skindo.
visiting nearby school so a 'little' detour was required to find a cache for today. No ducks here today either all was like a mill pond! All well here, log nice and dry. Thank you for the cache and another smiley face
Quick park n grab in a nice spot after a weekend docking sheep on a nearby farm. Only 1 duck to be seen today. TFTC
Found this one, nice area and love the lambs! Dropped a path tag in the grass and can't find it
On a road trip around the Wairarapa collecting a few caches along the way.

Road trip from Eketahuna to Dannevirke trying to get our numbers up. Perfect weather for the 2nd of January 2015 to go caching. TFTC - left calling card instead of signing log to speed the day up a bit.
Found it on the log date (with Rolkal and Tarkal) but haven't been able to log it until now, sorry. Anyway, TFTC!
Logged together with Tarkal and Linnkal on our vacation trip to New Zeeland. Between looking at the great views and experience the typical NZ "things" we will mange to find some caches . This was one of them. The cache was rather quick to find on good description. This time it was Linnkals turn to find the cache first. A nice pond, but we only saw one duck in the paradise.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
In my home area is a challenge cache http://coord.info/GC4642W that requires to log two caches, that are between 19970 and 20037 km apart. As the area of Dannevirke is just opposite to Madrid, I choose five caches to log here. This was the third of them.
Thanks for the cache and greetings from Germany, Peter M.

Headed south with C&D, for a full weekend of caching, with the first cache being found at 6.00pm Friday night and finishing with an Event in Hamilton at 1.30pm on Sunday afternoon. Both of us had certain caches we were targeting for the Geo Licence series, as well as finding anything else we driving past, or near. All up we found 165 caches, travelled just over 1700kms and had around 5 hours sleep.
All in all it was an EPIC adventure, exploring in and around the Whanganui to Dannevirke area. We found some great caches along the way and saw some great sights. Thanks to everyone for placing all the caches.

A bit of a caching trip in the company of HKCB both of us endeavoring to know off a chunk of the requirements for the Geocaching License Series (different stages, different requirements for each of us), so what better excuse for a road trip.
Between 6.30pm Friday and 1,30pm Sunday I collected approx 140 caches (HKCB=155) and many of these needing to be a great distance from home, so little sleep, so much caching
Some figures for the trip were
1/. approx 1700 kms
2/. Caches mentioned above.
3/. some very memorable caches in Wanganui
4/. lots of laughter and lies
5/. 4 hours sleep
a quick find but no sign of the ducks in the dark, maybe they were sensible and tucked up in bed
thanks for the placement

Headed out on the first flight to Wellington Saturday morning with FMZ and Lostcourse. Relocating a vehicle back to Auckland meant we had a big caching road trip ahead of us...! We headed back through the Wairarapa towards Napier, clocking up the numbers through skindo land. Sorry for the copy/paste log as its now all abit of a blur having cached for 36 hours with only a few short naps in between. Enjoyed the drive through these rough and winding gravel roads and saw alot of interesting sights.
36 hours, 1,200km, & 315 finds made for an epic adventure! Many thanks for the cache and the perfect excuse to make a weekend of it!

Took the first flight down to Wellington on Saturday for a fly-down-drive-back-caching weekend with mike-miss and FMZ - basically a caching raid across the North Island.Team FML! for the win! We headed out of Wellington making a beeline for the Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay before venturing back to Auckland. We headed through a bunch of interesting winding back roads and saw a lot of beautiful sights and historic spots that only geocaching could have bought us too. We shared the duties around and took a few micro naps when ever prudent. Saturday was my biggest caching day ever, and this February, is easily my biggest month ever. Cheers for the cache placement! Now, do we backtrack from whence we came or make our way down Weber road...

Headed down to Wellington for a fly-down-drive-back-caching weekend with mike-miss and Lostcourse - basically a caching binge drive back to Auckland, caching under the moniker "Team F.M.L." We headed out of Wellington as quickly as possible to get some serious caching done in the Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay before heading back to Auckland. Apologies for the copy/paste log, but we found >310 caches in 36 hours and for many it's hard to remember specific details. We headed through a bunch of interesting winding back roads and saw a lot of beautiful sights and historic spots. We shared the driving and stopped for about an hour to catch some shut eye in Pongaroa before continuing, caching all the way. Saturday was my biggest caching day ever, and this Feb, after just the first 36 hours, is already my biggest month ever. TFTC!!!
Planned a huge day caching. Left at around 6.30 and started heading to pongaroa to the event. 40 caches on the way there then realized we couldnt do the rest we planned or we would be late. So headed a different way. After the Lunch we had another huge list of caches to get but got to pongaroa and petrol station wasnt open, 1 1/2 hours to masterton or 45 mins to pahiatua or dannivirke....hmmm that stuffs that plan up, should have thought about that earlier opps. So headed straight back to dannivirke and missed out a huge chunk of our planned trip. Thanks for a cache owners of all the ones we found along our trip.

With the Seagnoid on Skindo's cache trail and some others. 80 of 82 caches for today. Thanks for the cache.
[Green] With Popmac on the way home from a Gisborne geocaching / daffodil trip. Popmac grows daffodils and took a bunch to a daffodil tournament thingy in Gisborne with plans to cache along the way, and I came along for the ride. He won $100! Covers part of the petrol costs! Which helps, as we are taking the long way home.
Yet another in the continuing saga of "Snoopy Does Stuff" Where did all these Snoopy come from? Skindo get the kids to bring them in from school?

Another nice find as we check out some of the many Masterton and Tararua council gravel roads - although also some nice none dusty tarseal ones as well. Some great countryside through this area, and fortunately very little traffic. TFTC
