There are a few caches on SH7 between Reefton and Ahaura that don't have a big enough parking area for my cachemobile along with my snail shell. So just using the cachemobile I endeavoured to sign them off. There was a muggle car parked close by but no-one was in it. Whew! I managed to put my fingers through the pill bottle as the UV had got to the plastic. Luckily I carry spares of most things geocaching. There is now a new container here.Cheers for the cache, gracie7 + Mum.
Mum was heading to Kaikoura today so stopped to do a random check on this one.Thankfully the last finders sealed the bag because the cache hadnt been found for a year (or just 3 days shy of it) and the container had water in it. Because of this the log remained dry and is still ready for use. All good here. Happy Caching

We had found the cache at the start of the road in many years ago but had never made it to the camping ground - maybe we were pushed for time.
It was quite busy here and we drove around in circles a bit as there are so many 4wd tracks, we didn't know which to follow. Finally found ourselves close enough to GZ, but were worried to see that someone was in the camper van than was parked nearby.
Tried to search surreptitiously, but nek minit, a voice said "I know what you are doing". It was the campervan owner who turned out to be cacher from Palmerston North! Phew. StreetWalkerNZ soon found the cache and we all signed the log book - I hope he remembers to log the find. TFTC.

#21605. Interesting area to visit. As we walked towards the cache we were in plain view of someone in a camper van. He promptly muggled us. Turned out he has cached in the past (think his caching name was kenny something). Didn't take too long to spot the cache, then we chatted for a while before heading to Reefton. TFTC.
Stopped here fro lunch while exploring over this side of the alps. What a lovely spot.
It was surprisingly busy in this campsite for the time of year. Probably the most people I've seen here. Managed to find a nearby park and luckily we were hidden from everybody to make the find. Log signed and we were off again. tftc
Stopped in here for a camp last night beautiful spot, didn't have any luck trying to snoop around muggles in campers. Better luck this morning and got to have a friendly chat with fellow travellers. Thanks for the cache.
I spent last night in Reefton and decided to head out today to Waiuta; this delightful spot was along the way.
It took me longer than it should have to find this cache, then suddenly it was in front of me.
My (inky) pen wouldn’t write on this paper which was damp but otherwise OK; photo attached.

Found with tarmacprof, we were staying here last night and saw we were only 15m away from the cache so grabbed it this morning. Tftc!
Well I came here to camp and thought. Why not check to see if any caches. This was almost within reaching distance of the van.
Stopped in here for afternoon tea on our way back from the days adventure, there was a couple of blokes working the riverbed for gold, but they didn't look that excited about it.
there was a bus parked right beside the cache, but as luck would have it he departed soon after we arrived.
Cheers and thanks,

Nice looking camp ground. Will have to come back in motor home . With crickethawea
As I wandered up to the cache I saw a rat sitting in the sun. Odd I thought. Then I saw a weka. And proceeded to watch the weka chase, hunt down and kill the rat by pecking it. Fascinating, lets breed more wekas! Not that there seems to be trouble with that around here. Inbetween watching that, claimed the cache. Cheers
Found with our 3 and 5 y.o. Thank you gracie7 + Mum. We camped strategically 10 meters from the cache. A kereru was feasting on broom flowers most of the time we were there - right outside our windows! Also South Island Robins paid us a few visits. We were very surprised to see so many bumble bees around, but there are notices about wasps between February and May, so beware.
Haha.. when I stuck my head in the wrong tree, a little green bird just looked at me.. another one hopped around further up, not pretending to care much about me.. I quickly located the little cache in the correct greenery though. I had looked at staying at this camp for the night, but since I had 2 pairs of wet shoes and there is another camp in town that has powered sites (and free showers!) I opted for that site in site =)

Wow what a great camp site. Never would have known without looking for the cache. Thanks for bringing us here. Warning watch the blackberry bramble.
After a hunting weekend in Victoria I picked this one up on my way out of the bush.. TFTC
Small diversion off the main highway down to this charming looking camp-site. Parked as close as possible to G Z and headed towards the hiding spot. Armed with a good hint the cache was soon in hand and replaced as found.
Easter weekend 2018 is here and I have a cunning plan. Well, a caching plan, but what's the difference? With mrs and daughter working over the weekend and me with a few days off work there was a chance to convert some of my solved puzzles over on the West Coast into smiley faces. And add to my West Coast caching total. And do the Point Elizabeth walk, and several other appealing strolls. And some other stuff and all the way along gaining extra points for the planetary Challenge thingy to gain some electronic 2D Geo-souvenirs. And so, setting off around 0730 on Easter Sunday with the trusty mountain bike aboard (for the Greymouth beach-side track) I clocked up just under 1000 kms by road, a few extra on 2 wheels and several more on 2 feet, quite the trip. The threatened rain only arrived on the second afternoon in Hokitika (by which time I'd done my walks for the day) and the drive back from Greymouth via Westport was in blazing Autumn sunshine - Beautiful. Fantastic scenery all around and a large number of caches from b&w and gracie7&mum helped the total to just over 180 finds.
An awesome few days which my family wouldn't have enjoyed, but conversely actually would have, for the most part. An FTF in Reefton on the way through on Day 1 was another bonus, and monkey off the back for the monthly streak. A few DNFs which is to be expected with that many looked for, but a lot of good sights and experiences too. Thanks to all the COs for their placements.

Quick find but as the cache is right in front of a camping bay it may need to be relocated. Had to explain to that camper what I was up to so as not to be too suss. Pretty sure we now have another geocacher joining in. Thanks for the cache. This is one of the best spots so far, a week into our month long trip. Cheers.
Our apologies for the delay in posting our log. Things have got a little out of hand recently & the backlog has become rather more of a "log jam".
Our thanks to gracie7 + Mum for placing this cache for us to find (or occasionally not) on 08/11/2017. Further details (for earthcaches & the like) will be supplied to the CO once the jam has cleared.

Thanks for bringing me in here, the camp is not obvious from the main road, and even on the short drive in I wondered if I was in the right place. Then I arrived at the lovely camp. And thanks for the note about the toilets, they were appreciated too.
We stopped by this last month on the way home from Nelson but couldnt see anything in the dark so made a point to come in today for a random maintenance check. It was really well camoed (so no wonder we didnt spot it in the dark last time) The container was filled with water and the logbook was gone - in its place was $3.50 in change. They didnt have to pay for the logbook I wouldve just rather they had left it there in the first place. A new log was popped in and its all good to go again. Happy Caching
A lovely day the birds were singing the sun was shining and the muggles were all down by the river so we had an easy find. TFTC
When we arrived yesterday afternoon there were lots of muggles fossicking but nobody this morning in the rain. Bunch of fair weather gold miners! NINO TFTC
Last time we called in here the place was crowded so we had our coffee and moved on. Today it was much quieter, no wasps, no birds just some rain and a couple of campers. A very pleasant camp site, thank you DOC.
Stayed here overnight. Parked the van and realised this was only a short walk away. GPS was a bit off but found without too much trouble. This is a great DOC camp. TFTC
Nearly stood on Wasp nest. Saw cache but not game to collect to log find - sorry. Good hide though. Tftc
A great spot and with the cache only 30m from where I had set up camp for the night I wasn't going to not find this one, the last find of a busy day.
Many thanks FTC

Took a wee detour from the main road and made a quick find. Cheers.
Found on a Waitangi Weekend to, from and around Reefton
Thanks to all the CO's for their hides.

Thought we may have stayed here tonight but too many people around here for our liking tftc
On our way to stay at Waiuta for the long weekend. Mrs Rincewind had been here before and wanted to show us this lovely camping area. Of course it would be rude not to look for the cache while here. I must say this is likely to be the best style of hide for the Coast - not in a hole where the water can get in! We spent a while mooching around checking out the camp site and river too. Thanks for making us stop.
Another great find touring around the South Island while making my way to the Mega. Thanks for adding to the enjoyment of this trip.
What a great location.

Bother, we didn't have this one loaded into the GPS. Must have camped pretty close to it.

On an epic caching mission with Shannonp1 through Reefton to Greymouth over the Lewis Pass, cacheing in Greymouth then returning to Rangiora via Arthurs Pass over two days. Final count for the weekend was over 200 caches. This was an awesome spot and could help having a wee wander, will definitely bring the family back here. Thanks for bringing us here.
On an epic caching mission with Surveybase to North canterbury, Waipara, Culverdon, Springs Junction, Reefton, Greymouth, Arthurs Pass and back to Rangiora over two days. Final count for the weekend was Saturday 124 caches, Sunday 80 caches. not a bad weekends work. sorry for the cut and paste but it would take forever to log them all. We hummed and harred a bit but went for a drive and was pleasently supprised we could drive all the way to GZ. TFTC.
We stopped on the way passed to check it out.
All good but we swapped the logroll with a logbook.
All good but we swapped the logroll with a logbook.
Didn't have much luck, it was pouring with rain and my GPS was all over the place. Great camp site though, however a tree fell down and blocked up the river and camp ground has now been washed out.
Greetings from Denmark
Today was moving day. We had to drive from Greymouh to Motueka.
Thus we had time for some few caches.
Thanks for showing this place.

Loved the hiding spot! Will definitely have to come back here another time and stay the night! TFTC
Found relatively easily. Logbook quite wet. We stopped here for a cuppa so left the logbook and cache container in the sun for a while. All dry when we put it back.
Nice camper site, we stayed one night after a visit to hanmers. Nice pools and hot water.
This cache was the perfect excuse to show Hazedarus what a nice camping area it is with a view to future use. We knew what we should be looking for having found others by this CO in a similar vein so it didn't take long before we were signing the log. Thank you gracie7 + Mum.
What a great place to chill out. We almost got muggled but all worked out well. Thank you Gracie7 and Mum for placing this cache.
After doing the one at the entrance we just had to do this one..Co-ords spot on so a nice QEF...what a beautiful little spot..didn't know this one was here!!..thanks for making us stop!!

Didn't stop as a guy was camped nearly on top of the cache. The only person in the camping ground of course
Last one for the day. We've set up the caravan and plan to cruise around lots of caches over the next few days. This is a lovely spot with lots of birdlife evident.

A interisting place and very popular lots of cars and campers but no people not sure where thay all were but didn't go looking, will have to remember this camping spot............
Drove in and parked nearby. A couple of campervans / caravans parked nearby but luckily the cache was luckily out of view of the campers. I often find this sort of cache quite tricky but was lucky to spot this one quite quickly. TFTC, Biggles.
Slab Hut. That sure conjours up images of the pioneer past. What a lovely area. I hadn't realised this camping ground is here. Thanks for pointing it out.
Just checking my paper work in the motor home and realised i had not logged this one.Was staying in Reefton and went for a run over to slab hut and found this one.Took a little to find.TFTC
What a lovely hiddden camping spot in here. Thanks for pointing it out. Nice hide. TFTC #5097
Diverted to here on the way to Reefton this afternoon. A very pleasant area, bellbirds singing too. Found the cache quickly - signed log, TFTC
A familiar stop for us...DOC has done some nice work here recently. Thanks for the cache.
