Our North Island Roadtrip from Whangarei to complete Tahi & Rua of the NZ Geotour - Day Twelve.

This was a quick find at GZ when we were passing by. Thanks for the great puzzle. TFGC

12-Jan-23
With the Geotour coming to and end soon Yvettetb and I decided to go on a road trip to collect Tahi and Rua. Of course I had some puzzles at various places to collect and a few special types were added to the list too.

Today's plan was to get a few caches around Rotorua with high favourite points. We then wanted to head up to Tauranga via a few PWGT caches. As it turned out we only got one cache in Rotorua this morning as it was drizzling so we headed north to avoid the rain.

By the time we got here it was fine again. This puzzle I'd solved in Oct 2020. My son had worked as a bee keeper but had moved on to another job by the time I did this puzzle. Glad to sign it off today. Thanks for the cache Smile

Today is the day, regardless of the rain, that McJandals and I are doing the Papamia to Paengaroa Trail. Carried on to Paengaroa for lunch.

It's my Mega weekend road trip! This is day six and I'm off to Whakatane via Rotorua and the GC45 tribute. Will expand on my logs, post photos, qualifying caches for challenges, etc. When I get home. TFTC

Sincere relatively recently while planning my road trip as I would be passing through here. Found quickly but a bit of a struggle to get in due to the general wetness of the morning.

#10,620. I am staying at my sisters place for a couple of days in Rotorua. After a drive to Kawerau to pick up the PWGT cache, I had to decide whether to head back to Rotorua via the lakes or along the coast road (via Paengaroa) as I had promised to buy pizzas for tea at my sisters place. Noticed the Adventure lab at Matata so that decided the path. I had solved this puzzle a few weeks ago. It was a fun crossword in theme. Google was my friend for a few of the answers. Soon had the coordinates. I parked nearby and started the search. Took a minute or two for my eyes to spy the little fella. Signed the logbook and returned everything as found. Thanks Lion Fish for hiding it here. Now to drive back to Rotorua.

I arrived with my snail shell and parked it up at Papamoa Beach for a few days so that I could sign off a few solved puzzles and any trads that get in the way.

This is one that I had solved 5 years ago so it is past time that it was got off my to-do list.

Cheers for the cache.

Solved this one Yonkers ago and finally was going past to find and sign the log. Thanks!

Solved puzzle last night, so in the morning on my way back to Hastings I stopped to find cache. With the excellent hit cache was soon found. I had to wait a couple of minutes before I could retrieve and sign log as muggles were close by. Gave FP as I enjoyed doing the puzzle. Cheers

We stayed the night in Paengaroa in town at the free campsite. Yesterday night we discovered this puzzle on the map. I copied the puzzle with the hand on a sheet of paper and started to solve it. It went pretty well and soon we got the final coords.
This morning after breakfast we went to GZ. It was a quick find. After signing the logbook we did a tour in the factory nearby. We can really recommend. It is informative and cheap. And a good bad weather option.
Thanks for showing! Tftc

22-Apr-18
Puzzle relatively easy once you find the correct link to the answers but with a slight calculation error I couldn't get a green tick on Geochecker. A quick message to the CO and I saw my mistake.
Finally managed to get here to sign the log after flying back from Queensland and brrr it's much colder here!

Bit of a mission to find until Mrs Billelle’s eagle eyes spotted the cache and she had completed the puzzle as well

31-Mar-18
We solved this puzzle back home in anticipation of a trip down here for Easter and enjoyed the simplicity of it and learning a few things about our bee friends. Arrived at the suitable GZ and while Mrs Tuolei went shopping at the nearby retail outlet (and made a couple of "finds" of her own) Mr Tuolei looked for the cache. In the end I got a bit confused about interpreting the hint (goodness knows how, but there you go) and was still looking on Mrs Tuolei's return. The error of my way was pointed out and the cache found shortly thereafter. Thanks for the cache, all good here.

Last stop on the way back to Whakatane after a day of chasing waterfalls and an evening of christmas light trails. Fun puzzle to solve, who knew there was so much to learn about honeybees?! Glad we found the cache on the way home when no one was around.. I can imagine it would be pretty busy during the day!

Cache number 3456. I had done the solve some time ago but had not been in the area in order to make the find. I was passing so decided to grab it. After parking I walked over to GZ. Spotted the cache and soon had it in hand. As I was not easily able to extract the log I went back to the car for a tool. This done it was back to replace. I had just got back to the car when muggle car entered the premises. Thank you for the placement and the new information.

Woke up early this morning and decided to complete some puzzles. I have learnt a lot about honeybees this morning. Many thanks Lion Fish. Cheers.

#11910. Good to be able to find another Troodle-solved puzzle on out trip north. We felt very exposed searching at GZ. TFTC.

02-Mar-16
After a couple of rainy days, the weather forecast for today was looking good, which was a relief as we had planned a trip to Rotorua today, regardless of the weather. Our main aim was to find the Bay of Plenty CANZ cache (mission accomplished) plus a few solved puzzles etc as well as have a look around the town. An enjoyable day, thanks to the COs for the great caches we found.
We stopped off to buy an ice cream so had a wander to GZ while eating it. Lots of interesting facts about the honey bee and an appropriate location for the final. Appreciated the hint as it was a bit muggly when we stopped by. TFTC.

Thanks Lionfish, that was an interesting cache

Solved this one ages ago, a nice simple puzzle and a quick park and grab to start the day off.
Was funny seeing Philips name but it's something I found quite often today.
Thanks for the puzzle and cache lionfish and glad I didn't need any help for this one.

I've had this one on the 'to do' list for a while but had never really gotten around to it.

Decided to clean up this side of the bay - we made short work of this one leading to a nice park and grab. We found the cache more exposed then it needed to be so hopefully that doesn't cause any muggle trouble - and the log was wet. The water proof paper was quickly dried on my leg but the seal was intact so I'm unsure how the water got in.

I really enjoyed this one - a straight forward puzzle cache with a cool theme. Cheers Lion Fish.

Thanks to mobile internet we were able to solve the crossword while parked on the side of the road. Headed off to GZ and made a quick find. Thanks.

In the area today for Top Schools held just down the road. Make a quick dash down to the GZ area and started our search. We had just remembered that a few days ago the hint had been update. Made a quick PAF / T(text)AF to confirm. As we turned around there was the cache Big Grin
Thanks Lion Fish... Cool Hide !!

Cache moved about 5 metres, to what we think will be a slightly better spot. Puzzle, Geochecker & Hint all updated accordingly. Anyone who has previously solved the puzzle should be able to find the cache if they use the new "hint".

Sincere apologies for the very late logging and the cut and paste logs ... long story.
Had a awesome day out with CatsandDragons exploring areas between Rotorua and Tauranga on the back roads. Came across some very clever originial hides that we hadn't seen before.
Many thanks

Today was the first planned trip for the new year in the company of Zorgon to collect as many caches as we could between the north end of Lake Rotorua, to Pukehina and back to Te Puke.
We finally made it to the coast and now for something a bit different. Will admit to Zorgon having solved this one and soon located
thanks for the placement

Hmm.. worked out the puzzle over breakfast and then arrived at the location around lunchtime.. Was always warned to stay away from these as a kid, so wasn't super keen to retrieve in case of a fairly painful..sting?

Quick sign and away again. Thanks for the cache... Smile

Found on our 2nd attempt after being foiled over a year ago. Very clever this one. The hint helped. TFTC.

Solved the puzzle a while ago, but since it's be a few months since I was last down this way I haven't been able to attempt a find. Passing through tonight, and needed to stop to let the Geohound stretch his legs, so timed it nicely with a find.

Took a few minutes to locate, but once I worked out what I was looking for I quickly found it. Great hide, and learnt something new about bees when doing the crossword, so double bonus. TFTC, worth a fav point from me.

Checked on progress today. Roadworks are very close to finished, and facilities have reopened to the public. 'Lighthouse' TB visited - on our way home to Tauranga from Napier.

29-Sep-13
We were in the area, so drove by to check out progress ... landscaping etc is still underway - a big project indeed... barriers are still in place, although it might be possible to gain access when the workers aren't there. We'll continue to monitor, and thank you for your patience.

I thought I would have another look at this one on the way home - late Sunday afternoon. Fence still up but couple good openings - so becaude it was so quiet in the area I went in and found cache and signed the log. Lots of "Nouvelles Observations sur Les Abeilles" according to our helping hand Wikipedia as we enjoyed the puzzle, thank you.
And today instead of making a beeline home from lunch in Whakatane, we did the scenic route to collect our honey-smilie, thank you for that too --- lots of sweet fun SmileRed Face

Loved the challenge of this one...easy once you get everything worked out, and you learn a bit too...about bees that is.

18-Jul-13
After a hard day at the office, we bundled the grandchildren into the car and popped out after dark to find the cache. They both fell asleep before we arrived at GZ so they missed the thrill of the hunt. Coordinates took us to a likely looking hideout, so we made a beeline to it, and sure enough something caught the eye. There was no hive of activity at GZ tonight to delay the retrieve or replace, so we were off to the big M for some eats in double quick time. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache.

17-Jul-13
Spent the last two afternoons at school listening to the intricacies of Solo Taxonomy... What an overload! Secretly, I had my iPhone locked on this cache page while also surfing for answers. From a distance, I must have looked quite studious... in reality, I was a million miles away. Loved this puzzle concept and had the answer figured out pretty quickly.

Had three children to entertain today, so we decided to head to the beach for lunch and a walk on the sand. Didn't bring the gps so resorted to the iPhone... which sent us in one direction, but within clear view of workers. I didn't think the cache would be hidden so obviously, so we searched a few items before the kids started to lose interest. In the end, we called the Spiderhouse help-desk for a clue and had the cache sorted in no time. Enjoyed working on this one. TFTP and TFTC.

16-Jul-13
It was a great day out. Too good to be doing ironing and indoor paperwork. Spent the morning Cuppa over the puzzle and with a small transposition of digits, we were the first to get the red cross on the geochecker. That must be worth something. So. Got on the road and parked next to GZ. Sneaky critter was this one. But in between passing bee workers, found it and buzzed off.

Thanks Lion Fish. A good one.

15-Jul-13
Mr nzkites had a quick look at the puzzle last night and then got some help from Mrs nzkites and quickly had it finished. Then a lovely clear morning and we were faced with doing some work indoors or going for a drive in the country to find a few caches. We made the difficult decision and off we went. Quick find at GZ and pleased to see a blank log sheet Big Grin. It was good to get a FTF on a puzzle cache, our first one so far.
