We journeyed to Ballarat today to join with Suscoe, Bushfire, Buckleysbabe and OzBob to sus out some of the more challenging and adventurous caches available in this area. Before the start of our adventure we warmed up with this cache. We were thankful this one was not placed by someone with the stature of Count Dooku.
Our thanks to Shamus1 for bringing us here.

What a caching trip to Ballarat. The legendary Bushfire had the ute loaded with kayaks, gumboots, water, walking sticks, batteries, guide ropes, snacks etc etc. Off we went to hook up with suscoe, BuckleysBabe and phetlern. An adventurous day was had by all. We got wet, muddy, frustrated but in the end we had no DNF's and hit the road back to Geelong with smiles on our faces. An nice easy find along the way. Thanks to Shamus1 for the hunt.
Earlier this week, I heard of a planned trip up the highway to the 'Rat to attempt some high terrain caches which I had been eyeing off for some time. Was I interested? YES. Could I BYO kayak? DEFINITELY!!! Woo hoo! Couldn't wait! The weather for our expedition was perfect - mild and sunny.
This guy was a quick grab after a successful attempt at a couple of nearby caches with "interesting" D/T" combinations.
Occasionally my height is an advantage as I spotted this quickly.
Thanks Shamus1 !

After being in Ballarat last w/e for Pi Day I decided to return but this time with the mountain bike to grab some of the various trail guys not that I mind walking but this seemed a better option.
Found a spot to park and a short wander and a quick grab.

Couldn't leave this as a green box so I waited for the passing traffic and went in for the 'kill'.
Log signed and now the green box is a yellow face.

After dropping one of the geokids off at a party we thought we would make a quick find while the kids played. After our original plan didn't work out due to high muggle activity we went to the closest one. A nice little hide that tricked geodad.

Aagh Count Dooku, I love the way Yoda pronounces his name.
It was A quick find today, and another in the series completed. After taking a phone call and waiting for an appropriate break, I was able to grab this neat little hide.

I found this cache the other week and forgot to log it it oops thanks for another good cache Shamus1
A quick visit to Ballarat today to do a bit of shopping and with a couple of hours to spare, I thought I would find a few caches as well.
This was the first of the day and number 1001 for me as I am now on my way to the next 1000. I had tried for this one once before but to no avail, however it was a quick find today. Amazing how after you have been caching for some time, it gets easier to spot the smilie.
thanks for the cache Shamus1

Well hidden. It took geohubby and I a while to find the exact spot but we got there in the end. Tsls. Tyfc
Nearing the end of the day it was a couple more before a break. This one was a quick find in a MOP.
Went to Ballarat today to do some caching in between the rain, although it was steady all day.
Found some easy & more cunning caches that took us to some very interesting places.
This was one we had marked to find.
Thanks for placing this cache Shamus1

Second time here looking for this one. Thanks to Tomstache and McLookers for helping this old sickie find the cache. TFTH
Quick find after the event today with Sully1. Thanks for another easy smiley Shamus, and another in this series.
Found this today with Bogonghazy after the New Years Event at the Lake. It seemed only fitting to grab a few of Shamus's caches as well today. This was in hand fairly quickly and logged.; Thanks to Shamus1
Wet wintry weather typical of Ballarat summer. In the company of crazycatwoman. Left a 888 KR.
No drama here. Though the hide could use a little work. I'll drop you a quick email.
Thanks for bringing me here.
Thanks for bringing me here.
An unusual find for us without kids. Good Boxing Day activity to work off Christmas dinner!
We Decided to head out Creswick way and get as many caches as we could along the way, despite the on and off deluge of rain.. soaked through after first cache of day, even our Ninja Pug was challenged by this days weather.
This was one of forty odd caches we grabbed today. Decided to detour via Ballarat on our way home and grab a couple of caches here as well.... Ninja Pug thought it was fun.
this is the first star wars one we have tried
thanks to the CO for this cache

I'd had set aside today for a big caching day and eventually settled on caching mainly around the Ballarat area, collecting a few caches on the way there and on the way back. It proved a very fruitful caching day with 112 caches found with only a couple of DNF's and a couple on non attempts due to excessive muggle activity.
Rising nice and early at 4:45 am, I was on the road by 5:10 and at my first cache, 185km from home, by 7:10 am. I moved through the northern part of Ballarat before starting the BSRT trail (which I thoroughly enjoyed) at around 11:00 am, completing it in its entirety at 3:15pm. From there I cached around the southern Ballarat area before moving up into Ballarat city itself. Some of the caches I probably should have done earlier as it was quite busy in town by then, being a Saturday night. As the sun set and it grew dark I moved through the eastern areas of Ballarat before starting for home, caching along the way and finding my last cache around midnight in Melton; then arriving back home around 2:15 am. In total it was a 20 hour and 40 minute caching run, 584.7 km traveled of which approx 40km were on bike and 26km on foot.
The weather was great on the day too, with it starting off quite fresh in the morning but by the mid afternoon it was sunny and warm. This was my second big caching trip to Ballarat since I started caching and the standard of the caches and the scenery once again made it a fantastic day. Thanks to all the Ballarat CO's for their caches, I had a great time.
I managed to grab this cache in between passing cars. Thanks for the hide.

Nice quick find. Was looking too high to begin with. Lots of muggles driving by. TFTC
Found this one after a bike ride to the location on a nice Ballarat day.

Found by Mary & David, from Melbourne, Australia, at 1015. Most of our family are Star Wars fans too. During our recent US trip, we were lucky to see an exhibition of Star Wars movie props and models at the Cincinnati Museum. Found the cache after a short search. Our thanks to Shamus1.
A day of caching in Ballarat with Dutch Frangipani before attending the Mid October Dinner Event. A few finds and unfortunately a few DNF's as the weather wasn't kind to us with the rain, wind and cold. Ballarat has lots of micros that unfortunately do not have hints attached and in unfavourable conditions it is not pleasant searching for them
Searched and searched for this one all to no avail. Will try again another time

Still on the post 31 Days of Geocaching streak, and today was a cold start. Not sure if Spring is coming back as it feels like Winter is making a return. Headed out to grab our morning cache and the skies opened up just as we arrived. Given the location of this cache, we realised there were multiple themes running here, besides the Star Wars theme. Keeping a close eye on passing traffic, we were able to locate this one without too much difficulty, and utilised the Force to help retrieve it.
Thanks for the cache Shamus1.

Found after my friend read the 'good thing we don't have ducks disease' log. From that I knew where to look
A quick visit yesterday was thwarted by a Jedi mind trick, today force was indeed used.

Found with Tomstache on the way to school this morning. Lucky geokid was up for the boost. And, yes, the force was with the cache! Signed log and replaced. Thanks for this and for all of the new hides you have placed recently Shamus1.
The Force was with me and I found this one at 3:40pm [^] on a bitter winter afternoon before the hail. No chance the wind will dislodge this little treasure! SL Thanks for the cache Shamus 1.
Use the force...........absolutely. It was the only way to retrieve the cache! Thanks for the hide Shamus1.
Suscoe and the sister's 9th find of the morning as we work our way around the far off Galaxy of Ballarat.
We certainly needed the force here today and the cache container finally was coaxed free of the force field holding it back.
Log signed and then the quick placement to ensure a correct alignment.
Thanks to Shamus1 for this cache and the series.

Back in Ballarat where it all began. It has been 5 months to the day since we first attempted geocaching, a great place to return to reach our 100th find. This was find #98. Had to call on geodad to assist with this one. Found with kizalee. TFTC.
May the Force be with you....... Well the force was with us for sure the POLICE FORCE that is!!!!!!!!
We love night caching but after tonight's effort might stick to daytime. While we were trying to retrieve
the cache........1 police car drives past
next 2 police cars
next undercover car
next highway patrol car
shining there lights at us, geokid was so scared. After being questioned had we seen anyone running past. We explained what we were doing in the rain on a freezing cold night, I'm sure they thought we were mad. Anyway we replaced the cache and proceeded to laugh about it for the next hour.
Thanks for the cache Shamus1 entertained us for the night.
