Away for the June Long Weekend with TheWhiteDogGang. We based ourselves at Orroroo and travelled far and wide over 4 days. We managed 1,500 kms during our travels. We managed to find some really old caches, one from 2001, and even managed to get all 9 terrain ratings. Not bad for 2 old farts with no coordination. The weather was dry if not cold on occasions.A good way to spend 4 days.A quick find.TFTC

WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 6 - Morgan to Jamestown via Burra and Hallett. After a fun day around Morgan yesterday, it was time to move on. A very cold night last night. I did a few roadside caches along the way, but I spent most of my caching day around Burra. I have done quite a bit of caching in Burra before, but it was great to see a wonderful collection of caches to be attempted today. I even managed two sets of Labs, including a good walk around the mine site. As I headed over to Jamestown, there were a few caches that drew attention to the huge wind farms on all of these ridge lines. My last cache ended up pretty much being where I stopped to camp for the night. Into town for dinner tonight. As I headed into James town, every ridge and hill had a windmill or two on it, so with these two caches it was nice to get up close to some of the amazing infrastructure. Thanks for the cache pinkmundi46473.18 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2011 Compass Rose Twilight A#214**Albida**
Travelling with iluvtrekking up the WA coast to Darwin, down the Centre and in the Flinders. Basing ourselves in Peterborough for a few days to grab finds in the surrounds. Love the ‘swish swish’ sound. Thanks Sadiesmate
Travelling with richlink from Perth to Darwin up along the west coast and home again through the centre and the Nullarbor, picking up caches as we go. Based in Peterborough, we are exploring some of the surrounding countryside today. Thanks for the cache.
Slap slap slap or whoosh whoosh whoosh
After making my way up to Caroona Creek Comservation Park yesterday and camping the night there my main goal of the day was to make the walk through Tourilie Gorge finding cache with 4.5 years unloved followed by the rest of the day finding caches around the mid north yet to be found before making my way back to Adelaide.
Thanks for the cache

A quick find here after walking through the spikey plants.
Signed and replaced and then went and had a good look at the whirly.
Thank you, not often you get this close.

Day 5 was Port Augusta to Mildura. An early start had me watching the sunrise over The Remarkables. Another amazing day on the road. Thank you!

Yep. Much going around and around today
Much appreciation to pinkmundi for hiding this cache on our SA geo map game board
Touring the countryside with Jack and Purrfect Di.

Geocaches are located and logged using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S20+, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck!
---
Please do stay safe when caching.
Lookout for mud, snakes, surprise cliffs, wild goats, wombats, bulldust, and lightning,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins... but especially lookout for bugs. [xx(]
Make sure Travel Bugs are the only bugs you share and pass on
We really appreciate all those placing quality caches out and about especially away from the city crowds,
it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting

TFTC! Probably the closest I’ve been to these wind turbines, didn’t realise just how big they are
Wet and windy, perfect weather to go round and round. No swaps so we added some.
The closer you get the bigger they look. Container in pieces, unfortunately nothing on board to replace it with. TFTC
Nice easy driveby after work admired the close up views of these structures

Geohusband is fascinated with the windmills so he was happy to detour a little to find this one. We couldn’t here the turbine only the wind howling. Found during a most enjoyable weekend trip to the Mid North TFTC
Making my annual pilgrimage to Darwin for the Supercars, this time via Burra and the Oodnadatta Track. TFTC.
*what do you do after attending a ute show in burra, you cache on the way home. a nice quick find and finally get to take it off the unfound list*
Out and about with Moneydork finding a few caches, doing some maintenance and puting out a few more. As they say "if it wasn't for geocaching I wouldn't have come here", tftc
Found on our way to Burra. We were surprised at the noise they make. I guess
you would get used to it but not my idea of fun!!!

We were travelling from Burra to our next destination of Hawker we zig zagged through this picturesque area picking up a few caches along the way.
You don't often get this close to these turbines, it's surprising the noise they make. but it's certainly not an irritating noise. Even up this close the blades of the turbine don't look that big as the one on display back up the road. It shows you how deceptive things can be. There are certainly a lot of these in this area but then you always find one that isn't working for some reason or another.
The cache itself was a nice easy find right where the GPSr was pointing and our name has now been added to the log.
Thanks for the cache.

We were both "capped". These monsters remind me of the "tripods" striding across the English countryside in the trilogy of books by John Christopher. In the first book children of 14 years had to present to the "Tripods" to be "capped" which resulted in the control of their thought processes! The trilogy was made into a television series by the BBC and shown on 7 in Australia. Well worth a read if you like Sci-Fi. There are lots of "tripods" striding across the wheat fields in this area.
Completed a similar cache at Hopetoun in WA last week however at that one you were right under one of the beasts and it was an amazing experience. Thanks for this cache pinkmundi.

It was very windy on the top of the hill and I could hear them going round and round. But seeing them was problematic in 20m fog.

Cold and windy day. Quite noisy too. Soon found a greatcache opposite where I first thought it would be.
Started heading toward home and there was this trail of caches taking us south from Peterborough, this being the third [^].
After travelling along some dodgey, muddy roads, we were soon here .
TNLNSL.
Not sure we could live close to any of these, the constant background noise swimming through your brain . Impressive machinery just the same - the price of progress .
Thanks Sadiesmate.

These things really are huge aren't they? Interesting sound, but not altogether unpleasant. Tftc Sadiesmate
Out for a nice Sunday drive around the area and stopped off here on our way back to Jamestown.
This was the second windmill we had been up close and personal with today. Still can't get over how big they are. [?]
Thanks for the cache Sadiesmate.

I quickly found the cache an hightailed it back out of this trap !!
A close call, all in the line of caching duty !!

Went for a day trip to Peterborough, via Jamestown, travelling in convoy with some mates, and upon glancing at GPS, noted this cache just off the main highway. We were travelling behind and felt the urge to investigate. And, low and behold, our mates turned off and pulled up in a car park right alongside the cache to marvel at the view. So, off I wandered to investigate. Easy find - TFTH.

Cold morning, found a baby blue tongue lizard standing guard, not too active today though.
Found It!
Quick find here. Also very cold here. And windy. The super-sized fan was working hard today.
