I was in the area today and stopped off here. I was unable to locate the cache. I asked my geobuddy for a hint as she had previously found it. No cache where she had found it. A check of previous logs revealed that it has been dropped inside its hiding spot back in August and was unable to be retrieved.
Found this one some time ago. We'd been out exploring the area and delighted in the tour and caches in the area.
Thanks
Thanks
Couldn't find Jean to ask where the cache was today but I will be back. After checking the logs it appears that it needs some CO intervention.
Found 1553. Found OK in the rain. I am Sorry to report that I dropped it down into the hiding spot while I was trying to return it. The CO will have to do some maintenance to keep it going Sorry. TFTC.
A visit to this area today with IolantheK. A beautiful day and views. This one had me looking a little but needed sharp eyes before I spied something tidied away. TFTC the cache maker
Love the 'guard' on duty. Found it easily enough. Stayed long enough to enjoy the shade, admire the view then moved on. TFTC
I was promised I could find a few caches if I went rose shopping. Where's the shop? - Kalbar.
Where's Kalbar?
Anyway I missed the Kengoon Rd turn-off which turns into Kent's Lagoon Rd where the rose farm was and end up in Kalbar. No sign of Jean as I wandered around looking everywhere but the obvious spot. Eventually I found the tell tail sign of a cache in hiding.

A quick google to find this -
Some less-mainstream religions (I won't single any out, for fear of offending anyone) use a North/South burial orientation to hex/punish/otherwise signify those individuals who did something really bad according to that group's tenants, although, as an example, the Catholic Church also did this with those they deemed heretics & excommunicated and/or burnt at the stake a few hundred years ago.

We stayed in Kalbar overnight after doing a late afternoon departure from Stanthorpe Showgrounds, of course I couldn't let the caches go unfound as I didn't have to be in Brisbane till mid afternoon. So a wander up to this one and a nice easy find was made but wow I loved the container, you are so creative. so I admired it, signed it and then took my leisurely stroll back to town for a bite to eat. TFTC
As we were returning home after an extended stay in Stanthorpe after MEGA, we saw where this one had been re-activated, after a previous DNF from us. So we just HAD to call in and find it. Mrs RoddyC found the cache, and soon the log was signed and we were on our way glad to turn a blue to yellow! Found at 3.00pm on 8th April 2015. TFTC.
On our way to the Mega Cats&Dragons and I collected some numbers on our way. TFTC
Found as part of a short caching adventure before the official start of the OZ MEGA 2015 with Alpenmilch80 before the start. We arrived yesterday, arrived in Stanthorpe and now it was onto the serious business of collecting some numbers.
Signed the cache as "ACDC" (Alpenmilch80, Cats&Dragons Caching Team)
So again thank you for the FUN of the hunt

I am on my way to the QLD MEGA.
As I left home early I had time to find a few caches on the way.
This one was my first stop in town today.
A quick find in the logical location.
Thanks for the cache.

We were driving home from Goomburra NP and made a slight detour to grab this cache. The new log was nice and dry just waiting to be signed. We didn't see Jean today! TFTC.
WOW The council certainly trimmed the tree.
There is a new cache in place, with a new logbook awaiting it's first signature.
The neighbors obviously don't know there is a replacement, as there was nobody, at home, so if they tell you it is gone please let them know that there is a new one in place

Mystery solved. Cache is definitely gone. Happen to know the wonderful Jean since I was knee high to a grass hopper and she makes the best rosella ham I might add. Apparently was lost in a clean up
No Jean and definitely no cache today. Felt a little exposed here and left disappointed.
Will try and get up and check this cache to see if it is still there as soon as I have time
Did not find this time. Looked for quite a while but in the end call of nature made us call it.
This was so close to being a DNF until Richmond Lad took one more look towards the mountains from a particular spot and there it was! Jean was nowhere to be seen - maybe she was at church. TFTC.
Jean, Jean where art thou Jean! Being Sunday morning was probably at church. Most of the churches in the town had lots of cars.
This one took a while, going over the same ground many times. Nearly ready to put it down to a DNF however after looking at a few logs it was soon found. Yeahhhhhhh! TFTC

cache find #1400. Strolled down to GZ, and didn't think we were going to find any cache, until Mrs GT54 spotted the cache whilst being distracted by the view of the mountains. TFTC.
Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
We were heading out to Stanthorpe for the weekend, and saw this one on the way out. We pulled in, made the short walk in, and quickly added our name to the logbook, all before being spotted by anyone

After searching searching.. No neighbors to be seen.. Looking looking.. Hmm try different thinking.. Windy windy today... Hmmm branches on ground... Ahhh there you are.. Placed hopefully in the right spot..
Well we did not meet John. We met Jean and her husband Neville. They came over and inspected the cache site with us. Again this fellow was not in his proper place so we discussed with Neville the possibility of arranging some kind of assistance for the container to stay in its proper home. Neville said he would do his best to ensure that the container will stay in its proper home. Had a great conversation with them. SL TNLN TFTC
Found it in an obviously wrong place. Spoke to John, the neighbour, who not only showed us where it lives but also invited us for a cup of tea. Tftc.
Jean was right on the money today. Took a risk and left geowife at the local antique and gift shops in Kalbar while I popped down to grab the cache. Fortunate the cache visit didn't cost me too much although there were quite a few reasonably priced pieces. TFTC
No sooner had we arrived and just spotted the prize when we saw John heading our way. John asked how we were doing and had we found the cache to which hubby held out his hand, he had been collecting the cache as John spoke to us. SL TFTC (cute container)
We have driven past here before but there was no cache until now. Stopped off and geo-hubby and geo-hound headed for GZ, after a couple of minutes it became obvious that it wasn't a quick find I hopped out and headed down.
We wandered around aimlessly for a while until our presence alerted the donkeys that we were here. We had to hold back the inquisitive geo-hound and shortly after the neighbour donned his hat and headed over.
There are lots of bits of information or misinformation on the internet about the east facing graves, most seem to attribute religious significance:
"It has to do with the second coming: For as the lightning cometh out of the east and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man. Matt 24:27"
Had a great chat with the neighbour who kindly even offered us a cup of tea, had to decline as I wasn't feeling very well (in hindsight it was a good thing because I would hate to have passed this cold on)

Out with IolantheK again for a day of adventure. We had reached our two goals for the day and we were homeward bound. It took us a long time to find this one because we were distracted by the old graves. We both find it absolutely fascinating reading the names and seeing some history.
We did not see Jean, and luckliy we did not need her help. A nice quick find once we actaully started looking.
Now as to the question. Very interesting. I would love to know the answer. There are two grave next to each other that run in the two directions, that possibly belong to brothers. They died on the same day. How interesting, what happened?
Given that this is a catholic cemetery and the the graves above it is unlikely that some of the departed were muslim, because that is the only reason I know of N/S graves.
Thanks for a lovely half hour spent most enjoyably here

Out for another crazy adventure day with teamdfl. 2 big hikes done and dusted so we were beginning our trip back home, with a few caches to get along the way [^] We both like cemeteries, and spent a long time wandering around meeting all the residents here. So many names from one family, and what seemed to be 2 brothers who died on the same day...? However, I have no idea about the grave orientation question.
The cache was a quick find in an appropriate spot. TFTC, the cache maker.

Found the cache in the company of RVgeos, the neighbour came over to help us and we ended up being on the receiving end on some good old fashioned country hospitality, enjoying a cuppa out of the special royal doulton teacups.
This was a memorable cache for us. Not only did we meet up with Liz and Bruce for the long weekend we camped at the Kakbar Showgrounds. The cache was spotted on the ground so we signed it and placed it back properly. Then we met the neighbor who invited us in for a chat and a cup of tea. We were all very much impressed and even met his donkeys. Excellent time had by all. A must for all to say hi to John.
We have based ourselves at the Kalbar showgrounds for the long weekend and headed out today with friends RVgeos for a bit of caching. This is such a beautiful area and we enjoyed finding this cache. It took us a while to find this one because it had fallen to the ground. The next door neighbour offered some help and even a cuppa and a chat. Really nice country hospitality. Thanks to the cache maker.
No Jean, but the neighbour did come and say hello and immediately knew I was a GC! Had a good old chat and told me about all the other caches in the area! LOL! TFTC and we'll hidden.
I lived in this area, went to school just down the road for 7 years driving past this place every day and I had never stopped here.
Despite being a local I have no idea who Jean is

After a quick look at the obvious we decided to search the less obvious and having found caches like this before we nabbed it quickly without the need of John or Jean's assistance. TFTC
Found this one with Aussie Liahona helping them find a few they had missed from a previous trip. They had found this one already so helped with the find. TFTC
This was another quick find for us today. This cache can cause some issues for the vertically challenged. TFTC.
No Jean today so the hint wasn't all that helpful but The co-eds were so good that the cache was found easily. This is one of the funniest cages I have seen for a while. Is it a ghost?? Thanks the cache maker.
Found this on 7th of October. There a recent log that gave it away so after reading, it didn't take long at all! Thanks for the new cache
Driving up to Stanthorpe for the weekend to locate some new caches up in that area we had to pass the end of this road here so nothing could stop us from taking this short detour to find this cache. It was extremely elusive and we had a very interesting conversation with the gent who lives on the other side of the graveyard from Jean. His name is John. He used to be the Mayor of Moonee Ponds in Victoria. Eventually the cache was spotted in it's well hidden lair. Thanks the Cache Maker for this new cache. We were very grateful to add our names to the log. [^][^]
Coming back from Brisbane thought ID pick up a few near the highway. Didn't find jean or the cache. Will ask my shadow if he knows the reason for the direction of grave placement. Was looking for one of your creations The Cache Maker but GPS took me under the limbs of the tree.
Decided to contact CO and thought the cache may have got lost in the depths. I found it safe and sound after a wider search in all it's glory and definitely a great creation. TFTC.
No Jean. I went back with a finder to check whether it was just me but he said it was definitely not where it should be.
we didn't find anything so decided to move on as there were more caches to find today.
great grave yard too
great grave yard too
jean wasn't talking to me today, we looked and looked but nothing maybe a hint would help?

On our way back from camping at Goomburra and thought we would cache on our way home back to the gold coast. Heading to the GZ we were attacked by the killer guardian cricket. Fiesty little fella. This cache had us puzzled for a while but geodad had his cache sense on and soon the cache was in hand Thanks for the cache the cache maker... No Jean today. ps... The reason as to why the grave stone faces east is because it is a new day, for the sun rises from the East. It is believed that when the trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised or when Christ would appear and they would be reborn.. Thanks to Google for that one... Why facing south? That's a puzzle for the next cacher to solve
It was a pleasure helping the cache maker with the co-ordinates for this, and the really long talk that I had with Jean, who lives next door.
If you happen to see Jean, she has a lot of stories to tell, and will be happy to talk to you, for as long as you are willing to listen.

FTF @ 9.15 am. Often thought about this place as a caching spot but never got around to it.
Can offer no information on placement of graves.
Thanks for the cache, the cache maker
