Cache was covered in a lot of leaf litter. There are now chargers here tooWe had a rider from NZ stay with us overnight is crossing the country from west to east. We dropped him off at Murray Bridge which left me time to cache around Tailem Bend for the day.Gizmo's Gang, I found Shipwrecked today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

22-Jun-24
Fencing still in place and construction seems to have halted. However as the most recent finder has indicated, it is still possible to complete this multi, so I am enabling and will keep an eye on the situation.

09-Jun-24
An easy solve from the comfort of home, so no need to visit WP1, but we did anyway walking around the Bend for all these AdLabs. Could still be worked out. Just take a photo of those boards through the cage. Anyway I digress, straight to GZ it was, to find the replacement container.

20-May-24
Unfortunately WP1 is currently fenced off! Impossible to read the info from the fence line even after taking a photo and zooming in. One for next time!

20-May-24
Construction work is happening at the posted coords. (WP1)Disabling until construction is complete.

19-Mar-24
New container in place.

An after dinner drive brought me to this multi. I gathered the required information and was soon at GZ. As I was searching, I heard a voice behind me asking if I was geocaching. I confessed that I was. I am meeting so many geocachers from all over the country on this trip! Sorry, I can't remember your team name. :s The cache was located after a quick search and our names added to the log. With everything returned as found, I continued on my way. TFTC

It’s a beautiful winters day and I have the day off work so I ventured down to the Murray Bridge & Tailem Bends areas for a day of caching.

Numbers collected and crunched then to my final for a quick find, stamp and return here.
Cache nicely tucked away from prying eyes here

Day 14 of our loop through Vic and SA then home.

Today fitzy_1965, albida33 & I headed out early to get the caches in the area. We signed as MAF or FAM to save room.

Our aim was to collect the nearby Challenges, then the River & Peaks series and anything in between. Once we understood the hints on the River series, it made the finds so much easier….a clever idea. A great day with no DNF’s.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

19-Apr-23
31,282. Found with minniek and albida33 (signing either as FAM or MAF to save room and just for fun) during another great day of caching in South Australia).

Rutherglen Mega and South Australia Trip Day 14. Today we headed out to drive the Straya series of Challenges plus we also managed to complete the Australian Mountain Peaks (AMP) and South Australian Rivers (SAR) series with a few bonus caches thrown in. A great days caching with no Did Not Finds which was also a bonus. This was the next find of the day, and a quick find once at GZ. Signed, replaced, and then we headed off back to the camp site for dinner.

Thanks Gizmo's Gang !!

19-Apr-23
Southern Autumn adventure Day 15. Post Mega South East SA trip Day 9. Our second day spent in Tailem bend was to target the Straya Challenge series. This did not take all day so we were able to get to the Australian Peaks series and the South Australian Rivers series. It was interesting to see some of the 2014 Mega sites re-used. With the end of the day closing in we targeted a bit of the newer section of Wandering heroes, as usual a wide variety of caches in this series. Today is was Fitzy_195, MinnieK and Albida33 and we signed as F.A.M. or similar.

Back in town, we managed to find a few labs and a few more caches. They have painted the rhino since yesterday, today it is a solid grey all over.

Thanks for the cache Gizmo's Gang

Brad has been sent to NSW for a week or so to assist in the flood disaster response. Pretty hairy time. And lots and lots of water and mozzies. And dead cod. And black toxic water. And water of roads. And river levels getting higher every day. Only caches were caches of opportunity or on the way over or back. This was one of those.

On our way to Barossa Valley for a motorcycle event, we planned to cross the river on the ferry here, so this cache caught our attention.
We soon had the reqd figures, and calculated GZ. There was a scooter hanging in the tree that needed checking, but it had nothing to do with our mission. We soon had it found, and the log signed.
Thanks Gizmo's Gang.

Thought we would attempt this cache today whilst grandma is at work and we are in town from Geelong visiting. We’ve been across on the ferry the last couple of times we were here, so it was nice to look over the water whilst gathering the clues we required.

After the solve the youngest geokid quickly made the find!

Unfortunately we didn't attempt finding the cache, as when we got to gz, the horse manure and household rubbish had us turning away immediately.

This one will be the death of me, in the past we have been hindered by; human excrement, dirty nappies, rubbish, bee hives, a snake, many Muggles, today I tried it once again with a few more hints from previous finders.
Was greeted by approx 20 litres of horse excrement, placed by a human as a horse couldn't get under the canopy.
So I think I'll come back another day (again) to beat this Blue dot in the stat's.

Out with a Muggle mate to get pics of a grain train that is loading at the Viterra Silos. What to do whilst waiting the 2+ hours for that to happen? hmmmm.... let me see [insert thinking hard emoji].
This was 1st cab off the rank out of 7 found today in Tailem Bend on 'OZ Day' 2021.

Got to the listed co-ords and soon got me a set of numbers that had me in someone's front yard [:o] "Uh, yeah... i don't think it's gonna be there" i said.
Re-did my calculations and soon had the Sth co-ords side of it fixed up and off i went to GZ, whilst the Muggle played a candy-crush type of game on his phone [:o)] [headshakes lol] I know what i'd rather be doing [^]

The cache was a quick find in the rather obvious spot but admittedly it wasn't the first place i looked Big Grin
Took the booty back to the GeoMobile and emptied a bit of water out of the cache. The log book was unscathed, all good and dry Wink

22-Oct-20
Today Tankengine and I were leaving Adelaide and heading to Tailem Bend for the night. Not far, but we had always intended to head here before Adelaide and we also were going to spend two nights to collect a heap of wanted caches. But with changing plans we were still happy to have at least one night there.

So we spent the day slowly travelling down and collecting a few fun caches and sight seeing along the way.

This cache: After dinner we had just a little more time before it got dark, so we thought we could dash across the road from the motel and find this one. What a fun spot and interesting views. We even got to see the ferry cross the river shuttling a car to this side of the river. Tftc Gizmo's Gang!!!

Been great staying in Tailem Bend. The weather is awesome.

Condition Report:. Found container open and strewn around and only 1 lid catch now - placed back at our estimated GZ

{233} After stopping here on our drive into Adelaide on New Year’s Day, we got the information required then drove off before calculating the final GZ. D’oh! So we have stopped by here again today on our drive home to Melb (via Warrnambool). Interesting to learn about the ferry, especially as it still operates. TNLNSL. ThanksGizmo's Gang for the hide.

As we started searching the final GZ I discovered three containers full of rubbish, thinking one of them maybe the cache I opened the first one only to discover chicken? bones rotting away [xx(]

As I place all these containers in the nearby bin and did my best to not bring up my breakfast the goose searched for the real cache, he had just got it as i returned after composing myself.

Thanks for the cache

This was the Mega trip that started out as a simple trip to St Arnaud for just the Mega and turned into a mega road trip starting with myself and GooseandEgg flying into Adelaide to collect a rental 4WD so we could drive an indirect route to St Arnaud and then on to Melbourne so we could fly home again.

The Goose had put a lot of planning into the trip so we could both complete or get close to completing our D/T grids, collect a number of good interesting caches and cache types we didn't have many off.

For me this was the best organised Mega I have been to, the stand out was how the committee had managed to get the whole St Arnaud community to welcome us all to the area, just about everyone we meet knew what we were there for and I had no awkward moments explaining what Geocaching was.

Found on 13/11/2019 at 5:06:00 PM

I enjoyed this multi and the views, but not the disgusting mess left by somebody here. SSR opened a jar that was full of bones. Another container contained what we hope were food scraps. There were a few but they all ended up in the bin.
Once that filth was gone we got back to searching for a container we DID want to find. It was hidden pretty deep bit I eventually dug it out.
Thanks Gizmo's Gang.

When planning the St Arnaud mega trip I was keen to incorporate some missing D/T’s from my grid. Stainless steel rat suggested flying to Adelaide ‘on the way’ and driving across so a route was planned and a fun week of caching began. I cherry picked in my planning so as not to run out of time for the ones I wanted, and we added a few on the day if there was time. We met up with various teams along the way including a planned rendezvous with Tassie Trekkers in Kaniva for a fun days caching. I ended up with around five hundred finds (including labs) for the week, and still had plenty of time for socializing along the way. It was great to catch up with some old friends and of course make new ones.
Special thanks to the St Arnaud mega committee for a great weekend.

Dropped by and CITO'd the area. Sadly littering is all too common these days.

02-Jun-19
Today wasn't about numbers it was about a) finding a cache to complete my DT matrix after almost 6 years of caching and b) finding my Wandering Heroes cache. Both of these missions were accomplished, which meant this was a very special day of caching.
Set off from home at 10.30 to head to Hahndorf where the geohusband and I went for a gin tasting which was brilliant, 2 bottles were purchased one of which I am enjoying now whilst writing my logs. We then did a bit of shopping and the crappy weather put the husband off so he and the hound headed back down the hill home.
I called Davidwazza who was meeting me to help with my final DT square. Met him to do that and then continued on with the rest of my caching.
All up around 25 caches were found for the day, many km driven, got very wet, then got dry. Excellent day of varied caching including one bonus find from 2001. Home happy!
Added this multi into the mix for a little variety. Calculated the coordinates which had me in the middle of the Murray, revisited and realised I had misread the listing. With that corrected I headed to GZ to begin my search. Lots and lots of rubbish here, not very nice. Seemed to be a full bag of groceries including fruit salad and steaks, very weird. Resorted to getting my BFE mini rake out which made the search more pleasant and after quite some time I eventually unearthed the nicely concealed cache. TFTC Gizmo's Gang, this was a good one.

We always enjoy a Multi-cache, especially one that includes some history, and so we stopped off to undertake this one today. We soon found the numbers required at the waypoint given and then with our GPS updated with the corrected co-ordinates we moved on towards Ground Zero where the cache was located soon enough. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe

18-Mar-19
We were heading out of Palmer today and just picked out a couple of caches on our way to our next destination with ilook4geo. Stopped here to check out the river views and read the signage about the history of the area. Spotted what was needed to fill in the missing numbers. It was then off to GZ and made quite a quick find here. both parties were added to the log. It is such a pity there is so much rubbish around the area.
Thank you to Gismo's Gang for this nice litttle multi which was easy to do and which we enjoyed.

TFTC. We were headed across the River too attempt the 2014 OZ Mega series. Decided that the ferry ride was too good to pass up on. stopped here first to gather the information. On a spur of the moment trip to SA from Melbourne for the long weekend and staying in Tailem Bend and touring the country side picking up caches as I go.
I was on my way to catching the ferry across the Murray and stopped to find this one on the way.
Worked out what was required and was soon on my way to GZ.
Why do people have to leave their rubbish lying around.
Checked a few spots and soon felt my way to the cache.
Thanks Gizmo’s Gang TFTC.

Searched around, in and even over. Not in the rubbish that was oiled nearby... Definitely not in the sandwich make.
Had my hand on this safely placed cache TWICE and kept my Geo eyes firmly shut... Thankfully a particular Rat was able to snuffle in further...and can claim found it! TYFTC SLTNLN

Tuesday 8 November 2018.

A straight forward little multi. Lots of camo, but Connor put his hands on it first.

Yet another fabulous day out with gridge98...so fabulous that we stamped all of the logs as "Fabulous Randoms" (the ink in a few was becoming a little light).

We stopped at about 150 caches today as we were on a mission for Connor to reach his 4,000th caching milestone, and for me to get closer to my 10,000th. I'd found a few before today so my find count was a little lower, but anything over the 100 mark is a great day caching! We even began our day by attending a coffee event at 7:30am and then finished it with dinner and movies...haha, yep, the GIFF event was on tonight at the German Club.

Thanks so much for the cache Gizmo's Gang! [^]
