we often talk with friends and discuss how much we would have loved the ten-cent recycling scheme to be around when we were kidsso often wed spend a long daybe it after schoolon a weekendor during those endless summer holidayswalking around the local creek or the local parks, exploring, chatting, wiling away the hoursif the ten-cent recycling scheme was around then, we would have spent countless hours scouring every skate park, service station, abandoned carpark for that glint of a coke can or canadian club bottlehereunder this bridgewould have been the prime sort of spotall manner of junk washing in down the creektossed from passing cars aboveleft by the local graffitiists tossing their junksoas we would have donewe picked up a few bottlestossed them in the backseatand we'll get out ten cents back someday soon
Cleaning up a few caches in Miners Rest and once at GZ here, my heart sank. Luckily the cache was not completely covered and I spied it rather quickly. The log book was soaked and just a mess, however the single log sheet was rather dry. I removed the log book dumped it, and placed the log sheet in the plastic bag, so all should be good. Thanks Shamus1...an interesting story, don't think I'll hang around here at night though.
Sunday already and we're working our way through the geotour caches. Weather is not on our side, so all is a bit harder then needed. Still having heaps of fun!TFTC Wilbert67
We're working our way through the geotour caches and others, this will be another memorable caching trip, a little more challenging due to the weather . Still it's great to be outdoors ans collecting smileys.TFTC J+J.au
Heading to Ballarat for a CITO and an event, but had some spare time beforehand. It could have taken a while, but I was lucky that I found it straight away.
My thanks to Shamus1 for the cache.
My thanks to Shamus1 for the cache.
Taking my gran out for lunch in Clunes and she decided that we should find some together!
with the last find on 25.12.2021 and the recent floods i was wondering if this cache was even going to be here. crawled under the bridge and started looking. some of the rocks underneath have been washed away. looked some more and found the cache. 1/2 full of water, emptied that out and replced the soaked log. at least the spor that hides cache saved it from beening washed away. over a year unloved.
Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

With two Events in Avoca, I decided a three day trip would be great, That would give Me time to explore the area and do a handful of the many caches on offer in this region. The weather was fantastic with nice sunny days but the nights sure were chilly with ice on the windscreen each morning. I saw many places and learnt a lot of history on the trip. The Main towns I visited were Avoca, Maryborough, Talbot, Clunes and Creswick.
This was one of the caches I found in My travels. No Ghost today but I did find a cache.
Thanks Shamus1 for the cache.

TFTC! Found easily today, but on a mission to keep warm! At least it’s dry under here!
We are in Ballarat for a few days to complete the GeoTour. After stopping nearby we made our way to GZ. A few muggles on the nearby bike track to be aware of. A scramble over rocks and a quick find. Thanks to Shamus1 for the cache.
Tftc. 2nd time around no muggles. Easy on the wrong side of the bridge. Searched a while. Ended up getting all the spiderwebs. So no more spiders or ghosts seen today. Under the rock. £%$@ which rock!!!
No ghosts,
no fishertypes,
no trolls
And a quick cache find was mine,
all mine !!

Using very carefully planted footsteps due to lots of unstable rocks, we made our way to the cache without incident.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, Shamus1

Was a little concerned when we saw all the rocks but luckily this was a fairly quick find. Didn't hurt that there were three of us searching. Thanks for the cache.
No ghost to be seen but it was daylight. Maybe better luck at night. The find was quickly made, the log signed and onto the next cache. Thanks for placing this here.
Caching in the area we picked up a few caches in the area and this was one of them.
Cache and contents were in good condition.

Found on my way to Wedderburn to be in commuting range of the Mega event at St Arnaud. This was an easy find but I didn't see any young girl around normal or ghostly which I consider a good thing TFTC.
MYOB conference now finished RoddyC and hatzoff heading out of town for some catchup time.

A late decision to go to Ballarat today to attend two Events and to grab the four remaining jewels required for the current souvenir hunt.
After attending two Events in Ballarat, one social and the other a Tree planting CITO it was time to do a little hunting.
I had my very good friend Faye (au.fait) for company who is an excellent navigator and a good hunter so I had the best of both worlds.
The day started with frost everywhere and the White Beast telling me to be careful of the roads due to ice as the outside temperature was only two degrees.
This little guy took longer to locate and the hint is crap because there are hundreds of rocks.

Travelling in the food company of Bushfire we headed more northerly for a full day of caching and an ambitiously long list of caches to try and find. No ghosts about today but found a cache instead. TFTC Shamus1
I have been here befor but with no luck. I drive over the bridge almost every day and its always in the back of my mind saying i should pull over and give it another go so on this Sunday morning milk run to the shop for my morning coffee I pulled over and within about 2 minutes I had the cache in hand. from me TFTC. SL
Heading west to enjoy my week off and since it was during the day no ghost was seen today.
Had a poke around in a couple of spots then soon added my name to the log.
Thanks Shamus1 TFTC.

TFTC. I drive past this cache every Thursday on trips to Ballarat. Tonight we had the opportunity to stop and search. It took us some time but then came up trumps. I had looked there before, but not deep enough. Now to head home to Maryborough.
Mission one for the day was cache our way to the Event in Ballan. Mission two was to cache our way to Ballarat and find a cache with a specific hidden date to help complete my hidden date calendar. With mission one and two completed it was time for mission three, cache our way to Clunes via Coghills Creek to grab another cache I need to complete my hidden date calendar.
Neville_devil lead me astray when approaching GZ. He was sure it was on the wrong side of the road and I blindly followed before I had got my GPS out. My socks were covered needlessly in grass seeds by the time I waded through the long grass and back under the bridge to where I needed to be. A quick find once I finally reach GZ though.
Thank you Shamus1 for the hide

This log is to tidy up a mess I made with GSAK . I forgot to apply the template so my finds were published with a nonsensical log.
Rather than try and edit all the logs I post this not with what the log should have been.

Cache was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked. Thanks for a fun cache guys. Love your work. We signed the logbook. Warning this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise.
Found on a short, post-Christmas sojourn to Victoria with Freddo, Team Waldron and thewhitedoggang that involved plenty of driving, cycling, walking and even some boating and wading.
The weather was on our side (albeit a little warm at times), which made for some great caching. There were plenty of varied finds, with some excellent and often tricky hides and and just a few DNFs. We signed most logbooks ‘F.E.T.T.’

Day 2 of our epic 12 day / 10 night trek to the Parkville Mega in Melbourne.
The constant was my travel companions for the entire trip, - Anymules and S.A. Sewer Rats but we were joined by almost local cacher Bushfire for a lot of the escapades So to save space in the logs we usually just wrote our initials BABS to save space. As we met and cached with other teams along the way more and more initials were added.
Today we had the pleasure of the company of Muff1, Goodlook, Wozzle68 and later Bushfire and Suscoe. So today we became GWAMBS. [:o)]
After a morning paddle it was time to say goodbye to bushfire and Suscoe and head up into the forest and grab the Christmas down under series, and head for the challenge cache series. [:X] That done and it was now time to cache our way back to our digs. [8)] Anymules found this one before I even had a chance to look. So I took a phot instead.

Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late and generic log, something I am notorious for. Thank you Shamus1for adding to the adventure that is geocaching.

Today I headed to Ballarat to attend a CITO event and find a few unknown caches so I can meet a challenge of 1000 puzzle cache find, with both of those tasks completed, it was now time to find a few other caches around Ballarat, the big problem now that was before me was the bands of rain that kept on sweeping through the area.
I headed to this one next and carefully made my way to where I needed to be, with a bit of light on the subject, the cache was spotted quickly and the log was signed.
No ghosts were seen on the finding of this cache, maybe it was too wet and not dark enough.
**Thanks to Shamus1 for placing this cache.**

Back in June last year i had a quick unsuccessful search here but it was well after midnight and i was not suitably attired for rummaging around spider-web infested, rocky terrained creek beds. I had finished work at my supermarket job at midnight and was on my way home from finding a nearby mystery cache final when foolishly i thought this would be a quick find while i was in the area....haha.
More than six months later I've finally managed to get back here as family Perpetuallylost were on their way back from the Maryborough Sunday Market and i managed to convince the geowife to stop here and let me have another look. Probably should have swapped the thongs for better shoes but i managed to get under the bridge ok where i finally came across the hide. Still wasn't easy but a bit of careful observance for future caches will yield successful results! Thx Shamus 1, nothing spooky here today, just caches! Cheers

Despite accurate coordinates, it took a couple of minutes of hunting before that cache was located in an obvious location. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Shamus1 for the cache.
Working our way back to Clunes after a run of DNF's stopped off here hoping that we could find it. Fortunately did not take too long before we were able to log it. No ghosts around today but you could see where they had been.

Today I was in the company of Ausfox; and Na'wal. Our main focus was Mt.Beckworth. Once we finished that, we were free to travel around this beautiful part of the world. Today was planned with a cache trip to Ballarat and the Mt. Beckworth area for another geocaching adventure. DAB, Ausfox and myself met early, packed the geo vehicle with plenty of drinks as we knew today was going to be a hot day and we were on our way. We were wary of snakes about here and made our way carefully to where we needed to be. Cache located quickly. Signed and replaced as found.

While up in Ballarat for a few days I was joined by abl973 to head out for a day of caching. It was a cool and wet day, but thankfully the rain mostly held off. Plenty of water today with the creek well and truly flowing. I guess that is why the bridge is here [:o)]

01/10/2016 3:35:00 PM - Heading out of Melbourne this morning it absolutely hosed down with rain where I joined up with my caching friend Square_Pegs for the first day of October and stopped off here to find this cache.
Overall it was a soggy cool day but being out this way was better than hanging around in Melbourne. I do like a ghost story! We didn't find any residual energy but at night it could lead to a different situation.
Thanks Shamus1 for bringing me here.

In Ballarat for the day I had very little time but made sure to grab at least one cache while I had the chance. I drive past this one often but had not yet stopped. Today was the day and as I was in a hurry, I was glad to very quickly spot a likely GZ and made a nice quick find. Unfortunately I topped it off with a decent bump on the head which resulted in a face full of spider web. Thankfully there were no witnesses to my mini freak out and I made my back to the car and headed home. TFTC!
Very quick find after parking my car up the road and walking a bit. It makes a good decoy, looking like an unmarked police car! Found myself on the wrong side of the water, of course, but the adrenalin kept me going! TFTC
