A lovely lookout even for kelp spotting - not that there is any bull kelp left on Godley Head these days. TFTCI found the cache much closer to the fence than the coordinates indicate.
Out on a hike from Sumner to Godley Head, taking in the views, the sunshine, the wind, and of course trying to find a few caches.Tried many possible hiding spots. I gave up searching for this cache. As I was walking back towards the track - there it was!
First in NZ. Great view, for me coordinates was a bit off and sat pic on apple/gc/google did not match so I needed some crawling around and putting my hands in strange holes /Andreas, Sweden
Easy find once I used the coordinates in the comments (listed coords are about 10m out). TFTC
Having solved a bunch of mysteries over the past couple of months, including the night before finding them. A spontaneous trip down was made by Kiwi Does Stuff and team Reschedule to collect some Canterbury caches. We have headed out to set ourselves a personal best for a days caching. The perfect caching wagon (a rental car) has been acquired allowing us to go anywhere with ease. All of the caches have made for an enjoyable weekend to remember and resulted in a solid and best days caching.Apologies for the generic log, all caches signed are a mixture of Res, Resch & Reschedule - a big thanks to the CO for creating, placing and maintaining all of their caches. TFTC! Coordinates were a tad off.
An easy find once I figured out how to get to GZ. Mrs RG admired the view while I did the finding. Tftc
TFTC. As others have said GPS a little off. Read someone else's log and used their waypoints. Great day for a walk. First time back up here for me in over a year. Found with andyfreya. Love combining walking and caching.
Places like this are why I cache. I love these sorts of hidey holes. Especially when accompanied by a view! Thanks for making my day! I signed the log with a pin so you will only see a faint little line J8. Coords a little off but geosenses work
Today we did a trail around Godley Head. We went with Vivs daughter Naomi who suggested the walk. We picked up a few caches on the way. Found after a bit of a search, some way from GZ - log signed and all returned Took some readings and got as an average S 43 35.574' E 172 46.956'TFTC Tim, Viv and Naomi - ddm
Stopped in on way down from godley head. Would be a great view on a nicer day.

Found this one on our hike from Sumner over Godley Head to Lyttleton. Fantastic views and interesting places on the way. Tftc!
Today we hiked the Cliffwalk between Sumner and Lyttelton. Beautiful landscape and a few geocache, perfect.
GPS was a bit off, but thankfully the dog was patient enough to wait for me. Any view of Whakaraupō is a good view.

We started at Evans Pass and joined multiple tracks to make it a big loop. As I didn't save the details of this cache we thought it might be hard to find it. But luckily caching instincts triggered and it was easily found. Cache is all good here. TFTC.

We had a great time looking at the beautiful view and looking for the cashe. Thank you!!!!

Out for a New Years day walk with Waiiti20 and Ricky_Reindersnz. A breezy walk but stunning views, some great history lessons, and plenty of sunscreen required. TFTC
Not as far from the fence at we originally thought. Is under more of a boulder than rock

On a bit of a walk from the beach to the Godleys Head trig. All fine here, once I got to the right side of the fence. Now up the hill!

Thanks for taking us here, what a hidden lookout, three of us were looking in different locations, and it's little who found it, very proud of how he used the hint to make the find. Both container and logbook were in good condition Thanks for the cache.
Back in the big city for a search and rescue workshop weekend so a great chance to knock of a few more caches...
Spending a few hours around Taylor's mistake and godley head..
Once I realised I needed to be on the other side this was a quick find tftc

Great place to admire the view, tftc. GPS about 5 m out on phone. Stunning day for caching.
Our first find of the day on a loop walk - tftc. Our gps has us some distance from where we found it.
Located today – it’s closer to the fence then to the viewpoint. Found this one on a Trail run today. Thank you for making this available.
We found this while out for a walk on a splendid sunny winter's afternoon. We searched among various rocks and found the cache before too long. TFTH!
Quick find once we had a walk around, didn't know this thing was here so pretty cool. TFTC!
T4TC. We spent awhile looking slightly in the wrong place but found it easily once we had a larger scan.
We found this on our way to Taylor's Mistake beach. However, we were the ones who made the mistake of following Google maps without looking at the end location! We had to backtrack quite some ways to get where we were going, but were able to find this cache on the way. Thanks for taking us to this beautiful location!
After a very windy night and not a lot of sleep we decided to find a few easy caches before heading to Lyttleton in readiness to catch the ferry to Quail Island.
This was the third find of the morning, there were some freedom campers parked up across the road, but of course they could not see what we were up to.
The cache took way too long to find, the phone was all over the place - up down this side that side nope no cache. Stopped looking at the phone and used our cache sense and found the cache within a few seconds. In fact we had already walked right beside it. I signed the log and returned it as I had found it. The log is in great condition in this one.
The history is very interesting, we had no idea these were dotted along here.
The scenery around this area is just stunning, especially on a calm clear early morning.
Thank you for placing the cache which provided the motivation to come and visit the area. We will come back when we have more time to explore further.
Thank you for the smiley

A fantastic Canterbury day only improved by the fact that we can discover some geocaches, perfect, thank you very much
After a couple hours on Godley Heads we have learnt a lot about these old WWII lookouts. TFTC
A lovely day to be walking the hills. Stunning views and supprised with some places we found these lookouts. Thanks for bringing us here and the cache bo & bronnie.
It seemed to have wandered a wee way from the map guide, but am thrilled to have found it! A beautiful spot - apart from the tiny skulls & bones I found beneath the wrong rocks.
A beautiful frosty morning with some stunning views followed by a warm afternoon out on a caching mission with Surveybase to knock off some caches. Some challenging hides and a fair amount of gravy lost,. Thanks to all the CO's for maintaining these caches and sorry about the cut and past log. TFTC.
On a mission with Shannonp1 to clean up some Port Hills Caches. Had an awesome day but a big day. On our way before sunrise and the sun was setting on the Kaikouras on our way back down to the swamp. Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining the caches. A special thanks to the Chch MEGA team for all their effort on the DT series as well. Apologies for the bulk log.
Almost gave up on this one and started on the path back home. I decided to check one more spot and there it is! Coords are off.
Gz 16 mtrs away. Felt under every darn rock then looked under the very obvious one :/ great spot tftc
Staying at the DOC campground for the weekend. Woke to a cold southerly & showers. After lunch the showers abated so decided to drive down to Lyttelton along the newly opened road.
This was first on our list & after a scout around found the hiding place & logged our visit. Thank you for placing this cache here as we would never had known about this Hidden Lookout

Was a reasonably quick find and I grew up in Lyttelton and these hills were our playground. We were allowed to wander in the hills with no restrictions and loved playing in all the bunkers in the area.
Found without too much difficulty on the way back down to Taylor's mistake, TFTC
