Hi it seems this area has been milled recently. No pines (Sigh) and no cache

Nice little hike on our way to Rotorua. Fast found. TFTC

09-Oct-19
Easy find. Exactly where it was supposed to be. Removed some mouldy lollies from the geocache. They have made the contents a bit sticky. The log was ok. Tftc

29-Jun-19
This was our first cache of the day as we explored this area, Mrs and Little One were busy hunting on the wrong side of the track as the GPS was bouncing around...Mr was way off hunting 20m further down the track. Little One struck gold...a tricky find due to lots of natural cover.

13-Jun-19

The last quick find here.
There is no logbook in the container.
I had just a sheet of paper good for around 20 logs.

11-Oct-18
The last find of a very fun and memorable 3 day trip. Thanks for placing the caches along this track. It'll be interesting to see what the area looks like in 10 years time. We timed it well as it just started drizzling when we drove off. TFTC

05-Jun-18
Our first stop at the TECT park and it's a pretty amazing place. Just a quick one today to pick up this cache... will be back daily to collect others TFTC

Looped around again to locate this one as we missed it on our first pass, walking our friends dog for her birthday..... great area with many adventure activities to partake in here.

On a mission to find a cache big enough to take a rather large trackable. Quick find on a nice walk. Will be back again do all the caches and the tunnel. SL TFTC

24-Sep-17
Checked on cache this afternoon... gave it a tidy up; all good. Took a new photo of GZ - to keep the page up to date. The cache is under/behind the log. Happy caching everyone.

26-Aug-17
My whanau and I were excited to do this trail and find the caches. Unfortunately, even though I downloaded the caches to make them accessible offline, for some reason my app logged out and I couldn't get back in without internet access - such a rookie lol. So we were unable to find the rest in the series.
Nevermind this was still a great track to walk which we would never have done without your caches. TFTC!!

29-Apr-17
For some unknown reason I missed logging this when we were here in April . It was our last for the day and glad it was a quick find as we were a pair of very wet drowned rats .....hypothermia was setting in ....as we were in a hurry the approach was a tad unorthodox as it was the shortest path or so we thought ...it never goes right when you are in a rush ...thanks Lionfish for the placement ...this is truly a great area

29-Apr-17
Nice walk in the rain tftc

29-Apr-17
Last one for the day after feeling like drowned rats. Phone by this time was useless, but GPS was better. It jumped around a bit with the rain and tree cover, but once it settled brought us right to the spot. Thanks for the cache Lion Fish.

23-Apr-17
Nice quick one. Very nearly mugged by a silent jogger and her dog coming up behind

23-Apr-17
TFTC phot obviously a bit dated but it did help.

18-Apr-17
We stayed overnight at the nice campground nearby. In the morning I went for a short walk to this box, which I could find easily thanks to the hint.

On a geocaching trip with livee_nz. Had originally planned to go to Karangahake Gorge, but decided on a shorter drive, so did a walk in the TECT Park instead. This was our first find of the walk. Relying on livees' gps because of no phone reception. Found fairly quickly using the hint. Cache in good condition. TFTC

06-Feb-17
Georunnermatt and I were on our way to K gorge but a sick cat at home had us rethinking our plans along the way. After a couple of closer to home areas spotted and discarded, we wound up at TECT, a new place for birth of us. With no mobile signal we were pleased to find our GPS had a selection of local caches on it, and Matt was able to see caches on the official app. Sighing Pines was our first attempt and find, not too tricky but not in the first place we looked, just how I like it tftc!

10-Jan-17
Quick find as the kids ran on ahead with the GPS - decided to head out to the TECT park as I have never been and walked around. Great little circular walk. TNLNSL

TECT Park campsite was our favorite one on the two week camping road trip! It's free, has a really good spot, is calm, quiet and not crowded, superb facilities and has this beautiful and interesting walk, awesome!

Thanks for the cache!

Found pretty easy. A hot day but a short walk around the loop. TFTC

17-Dec-16
Visiting the area with sveppi today. I had found the odd cache around here about 5 years ago when the park was still brand new. All that time later and the park doesn't look much different, and not very busy at all even on the first satruday of the school holidays. We took the wrong entrance to the track but the bush is quite open here so we found our way pretty easily. At GZ we had to stop to let a muggle walk past, then it was an easy find without the hint. Cache a bit damp inside. TFTC.

12-Dec-16
A nice one. The hint/picture are good help.
Thanks from a Dutch.

12-Dec-16
After a DNF of a cache nearby, we were (extra) glad to find this one.

25-Oct-16
I am visiting from Australia and after spending a week with my sister in New Plymouth then attending the mega event at Turangi I have time to play tourist for a week before my flight back to Sydney next Saturday. So I thought I would head towards the Bay of Plenty as I have never been to this part of New Zealand before. Today was a run from a bit south of Rotorua to Tauranga, so not a job of getting every cache on the way but a line on the map.

Pulled up on the loop below (not realising it had a perfectly good parking area near) and went for a walk. This reminded me of my childhood in Canberra when we almost used to live in the pine forests near home on weekends at ages under 10, building cubby houses and so on. Our parents didn't care if we were away from home for hours with no contact. Times have changed since the 70s I guess. A nice stroll in a light drizzle and the cache was soon in hand. Thanks Lion Fish.

15-Oct-16
This is another cache that I have put off trying to get to as I always seem to be too busy while I am up here.
Today, I had time, so found the trail up to this one.
When I got close, I didnt need the GPS to zero-in on the cache as I used my geocaching instinct to find the cache (although it totally had nothing to do with the fact that there was a pen lying on the ground, actually pointing to the cache.)
Oh well, easy or difficult, I'll take it.
Cache was in good order and well stocked still.
Thanks for bringing me here too.

10-Jul-16
As a local I do this walk quite often with the dog - when I'm not up here on the horse There were lots of spooky noises in the tree tops today which were freaking me out, and not impressing the dog either! As I continued round the loop I actually used the flashlight on my phone to go thru the tunnel, cos the noises had unnerved me so much! Cache warm and dry and very well stocked.

25-Apr-16
Great find for the morning. Most well stocked one I've seen so far. Left a small ball. And grabbed the TB.

23-Apr-16
23/04/16 13:00 Off to do the dot day caches I'd planned, after an accidental FTF nearby! An easy locate despite phone saying I was 18m away (GPS was off & in my pocket) due to carefully placed cacher 'sign'. Many thanks for the well stocked (good to see these days) cache and an excuse to wander down the track. Cheers, GC.

Dropped off Moove Me TB.

An impromptu visit to Tect Park meant that I had done no research at all. Luckily the caches were in my GPS as no cell phone service here at all. Took longer than it should have to find this because of the number of places it could have been but got there in the end. Most the caches I found today were found with the clasps not closed and lid just placed back on.
The last log on the logsheet was Joe sombody on the 23rd. The cache was still in good condition.
A great walk when under the trees but once out in the open, it got very hot, very quickly.
Thanks for the cache Lion Fish.

12-Feb-16
Nice easy find tftc

05-Jan-16
Thanks for this series, we had fun with the kids walking round here, the caches were a great incentive for them to keep going, but so much to look at along the way as well. Thanks for the photo hint, we'd gone to far, but when I looked at the photo I realised we'd passed the spot Smile

06-Dec-15
Straightforward cache, much to the delight of our 4 year old. Picture helped big time.

06-Nov-15
After searching and searching at the GZ which was around a big tree that had fallen on the track, we decided to give up. Then we went on another walk and we came back past the cache so decided to try again and have another look but at a different spot which matched the hint. And Low and behold it was there. Thanks for the cache.

27-Oct-15
Nice walk, thought we had gone too far to start with, but all good, we got there in the end. TFTC

Stayed overnight in the park

10-Oct-15
Thanks for the reason to explore this amazing place - the terrain and views were surprising and we had a great morning walking the loop

The GPS took us straight to each cache

My grandad and I found this cache while on our third day of our New Zealand trip. We were travelling to Turangi for the next part of our trip.

We enjoyed the pleasant walk along the Te Rerenga Tunnel Track after finding a previous cache near the tunnel. We wondered why most of the area was cleared on the way towards this cache. We arrived at GZ and made the find fairly quickly. This cache was the last one we found on the walking track - thanks for taking us here with your great caches!

28-Sep-15
Just a quick run down from the car - I left my phone in there too so I was hopeful my memory of the photo was accurate Smile I ended up passing many logs on my travels until I spotted one that wasn't quite right... one that appeared to have debris used in cache concealment.... Smile

As I left I realised the next cacher looking for this wouldn't be so lucky - I took a little pride in my replacement this time. Time will tell.

Cheers Lion Fish - I've enjoyed my wander around here today.

26-Sep-15
There are a few logs to choose but found in the end. A nice walk in the forest while staying nearby in the caching caravan.tftc.

08-Aug-15
Stopped off to grab this on our return home after an early morning trip to Rotorua targeting some specific caches towards a challenge.
It was only 3.5 deg when we found the last one and it was only a few degrees warmer when we stopped here. Enjoyable bush walk to GZ, good place for a hide TFTC.

12-Jul-15
Really enjoyed our time here exploring. We met some people with dogs just like ours so had to stop and play. TFTC in a wonderful location.

28-Jun-15
I had decided a few days ago that I would try and spend a few days in a town that I had spent a couple of years many decades ago. Nothing much has changed, there's still a big pond with a big hill next to it and a few mud pools letting off a bit of steam.Big GrinWinkRazz

It is time to put the pond behind me and head towards the beach. Didn't quite get there as there was this All Terrain TECTpark that wasn't here when I was here. Wherever there is downhill there is always an uphill. The lungs and heart got a good workout getting to this cache.

Cheers for the cache.

06-Apr-15
Checked on cache - all good.

06-Apr-15
Dropped off trackable... 'Austrian Red Cross'

01-Mar-15
The only one we found on the track. Have to get Gps sorted for when there is no mobile phone reception.

First cache in years, beautiful evening for a walk and find. TFTC

31-Jan-15
Decided earlier in the week that a mission to clean up some caches between Rotorua and Tauranga. Also took a new Geocacher with me Sakura7, to show her the ropes and show her what geocaching is all about. A great day was had and with some fantastic locations visited, even if the weather was average to poor at best, still at least it wasn't cold. And as a bonus no DNF's thou it was close on a few.
Thanks to everyone for the placements.

First cache of the loop, we actually walked right past it as we were talking and not paying attention to the GPS. Realised when we backtracked to the cache that I had a 15mm splinter in my finger that I didn't even notice, to busy caching to worry about injuries. Extracted the splinter before locating the cache and doing the formalities.

02-Jan-15
Sincere apologies for the very late logging and the cut and paste logs ... long story.
Had a awesome day out with CatsandDragons exploring areas between Rotorua and Tauranga on the back roads. Came across some very clever originial hides that we hadn't seen before.
Many thanks

02-Jan-15
Today was the first planned trip for the new year in the company of Zorgon to collect as many caches as we could between the north end of Lake Rotorua, to Pukehina and back to Te Puke.
We set off early from home and this was a great area to pull into. Have driven past often but never had the time to collect the caches. this was a very nice walk among the pines
What a great facility for the area and so much to do, well separated facilities and maintained
thanks for the placement

27-Dec-13
I should really take a better look at the photos before I go caching, as the GPS gave me not so good readings, so used gut instick, and with my Mum's help soon had it in hand. Will be back up this way to collect pinecones for her fire in winter

26-Dec-13
Nice quick stroll out to GZ, unfortunately battery went flat on gps, so had to go by the hint, and there were lots of them in site, after 15minutes of poking and prodding we decided to give up and head back to car....then noticed something just beside the track, had a sneaky peak and there it was tftc

22-Dec-13
A hot day with little wind so decided a cool walk in the bush would be a good idea, plus this cache has been teasing me for a while but just haven't been up that way.Printed off the picture to have in my back pocket in case the GPS played silly buggers but no it was almost spot on.Thanks guys,a fav & Tect Park now all smiley faces again.

08-Dec-13
Nice walk up the track. TFTC

07-Nov-13
We are en route to the Curry Planet for the Out of this World event, so thought it was a good idea to clear some of these new caches which keep messing up our map. Found the Squirrel with Seagnoid on the side of the road, looking for another cache, so joined forces and went a'huntin' in the pines.

Thanks Lion Fish and it was good to meet you at the Curry Planet.

07-Nov-13
[green] still on my way back from the Auckland Mega, stopping off in Rotorua for my mum's 75 birthday. Met up with Squirrel Nutcase and we are off to the Space event in Tauranga!
Caught up with Mr and Mrs Spiderhouse here and the four of us went to fossick around in the bush. Found by the one person who didn't have a GPS and wasn't being led astray by it!

31-Oct-13
Quick find on way to tauranga kids found without the hint. Pines were sighing today a bit of wind around. TFTC.

28-Oct-13
It was good to be back in the bush after walking through the felled area. Why did we pick such a hot day for a walk? TFTC
