I really had no idea where I was as I had just followed a track down the hill. It turns out I was nice and handy to town. This cache took a bit of spotting but once on the right angle it was an easy find. Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley. I was disappointed that the nearby multi is not able to be completed at the moment, the sign has gone that would give the required information.
After seeing Janet Frame's house, we thought it would be rude not to get this cache. Mrs Daywalk soon had it in hand while I was very pleased that we were in the shade.
Cache 1593 last minute trip to Dunedin/Oamaru. Main aim of the trip is 2 D/T spots, large and not chosen size caches for a challenge, sign some other challenge caches and maybe get a few oldies if time allows This cache was on the not chosen listT4TC
Back for my second look and finally found it, nice and tricky thanks for hiding a cache here
After cussing the coordinates for being inaccurate found the cache exactly wher the gps had been pointing. I think I was still surly after 3 dnf in a row.
After the overnight rain it was a lot slippery walking to and from the car but managed! Cache found quick enough... A bit wet and funky but again, we managed!
Trip log: When cheap flights presented the opportunity to go to NZ with GreyHams, who was keen to get the 5 2000 caches and the web cam I was of course very keen to tag along. I didn't want to miss out on that... Equally as keen for those caches myself and the first chance to get the passport out in a long time and head overseas while we could. Covid Happenings of course did put the trip in doubt and a last minute effort from GreyHams to get the flights changed and it was looking like this might actually happen... until I arrived I truly didn't think it would!
The cache list was quite simple, the 5 2000 caches and the webcams. Of course we did look at others as we travelled, types, DT, not chosen which were in abundunce and caches of quality, if your cache made our list it had a quality we needed. Many thanks for your cache that helped guide us along our way.
Certainly it was a memorable time, barefoot 500 plus metres across a mud estuary of shells and crabs was more fun than it should be. As was pushing through wet thick high flax or tall wet grass across to the caches. But the most memorable would be the fog, the thickest, most relentless fog but it provided some stunning scenery at times and was just crazy.
I loved seeing all the chinese takeaways that did fish and chips, the perfect hedges and a deserved shout out to Indian Zaika for its great food! Certainly with the fog and rain it was an interesting trip and we got quite drenched at times, it hid a lot that NZ has to offer but 'it's a caching trip' after all so it ticked all the right boxes and was very enjoyable regardless. Huge thanks to GreyHams for letting me tag along while he did all the planning, booking, driving and sending in the answers for the caches... as always!

Trip log:
International travel!!...OMG it feels good. Grabbed some cheap flights and anxiously waited for some outbreak to derail the plan, but that amazingly didn't happen. Sure, I had to scramble and reroute our trip via Brisbane & Sydney as we were originally going through the plague pit...aka Melbourne, but we still made it.
Having done most of the North Island, it was good to finally have a crack at the South. 5 year 2000 caches and a webcam, thats a nice little haul. Sure, some of the year 2000 caches involved bush bashing....in the rain/fog/mist...but we got them all. We had lots of other little targets like getting all our types/sizes/DT, NZ in particular has so many 'Not Chosen' size caches, super rare back in Oz, so we made sure to get as many as possible. If you are reading this, its because this cache had a quality we were chasing.
As always, the Earthcaches and the Virtuals took us to some really cool places, the Steampunk HQ and the boulders being birthed at the beach being the highlights. My favourite cache though would have to be the one where we had to walk 500m over a mud flat, dodging shells and crabs with our bare feet.
This trip will be remembered as the 'fog trip' as we saw a lot of it, which meant we saw little else. Oh, that and how every Chinese takeaway also doubles as the fish & chip shop....its a thing!

Took far too many loops for me to finally find this one.

I can spend ages looking for these with no luck. Nearly gave up after scanning a wider area then came back and spotted it.
Out with busy paws and another interesting little walk. This is a clever hide and not seen straight away and then ooh there. THasanks for this great cache hill55.
Returned to Omaru after 8 years and boy how many more caches!
Made a quick grab here on to the next.

Today we walked through the old part of town before searching for a few caches to move forward with the mystery at the museum tasks. This was the first one on the list and a fast find once at GZ. I quickly signed the log book and replaced it as found. A nice quiet spot today. Tftc.
nice easy find although I had to skip it on my way round as someone chose the spot to have lunch .... how rude !! tftc all safe and secure in perfect condition
On the homeward journey after a few days down in the Catlins. Now to pick up some random caches as we head through this area of the country. Thanks for placing.
Went for a walk from my motel before breakfast this morning to have a look for this one. A good hint and accurate coordinates made for a fairly quick find here. All in good condition - signed log, TFTC.
Glad I didn't have to dive into long grass for that one. There was a good frost last night which is still on the ground as temp is still -1. Thanks for the cache. Good camo. #3003
Escaped town for the long Otago Anniversary weekend and staying a Roundhill Cottage. Bingeing on caches. TFTC
Pretty quick find.
Part of the great antipodean pre-wedding adventure. We're staying right at the end of Eden.

Did the short dash today after a visit to the supermarket. Nice hide, a shame we don’t have time to do the whole track. TFTC
Perfect start along the Skyline Walkway and after finding the cache, we went on, but unfortunately in the wrong direction up a steep stair. We noticed too late and had to climb down again. TFTC hill55!

Cache #2136
We went in the wrong direction after finding this cache - so we had to go all the way back down. But hey, good workout ^^
This cache still needs maintenance. I found Kiwi Moose's little scrap of unprotected log (size of a child's little finger nail) still wedged in the tree! I added my initials and wedged it back in the tree.
Cache is there. Checked after geo fest and all that was needed was a new logbook and bag. Cachers needed to look harder.
Day 7 - of our (The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara, & myself) epic adventure around amazing Oamaru. With Geofest17 and Danseys Pass and A2O bagged, we are off exploring Oamaru again. These feet are made for walking - so lets checkout this awesome Skyline Walkway.
Found the Log book here but no container. Another maintenance run and The Seagnoid finds a container in his kit to house the log book. Cheers

Taybeedragon and I are here, on the Skyline Trail, primarily for just one reason: The final provides the missing D/T for the dragon to qualify for a local challenge. But let's face it, the trail is a great walk above Oamaru, with a number of wonderful little spaces scattered throughout.
More the end of Warren, than the end of Eden. In fact the beginning of Ededn kinda works, too. Nice to get out of the sun and into the shade. Strange that I should say that given that it has been raining for so much of the last few days.
Found the log wedged in a tree, but no sign of its container. I had my cache kit with me, which means that in my small back I have a variety of bits needed for cache maintenance. Including spare film cannisters. Donated one for the cause.

Found the log on the ground so jammed it back in the tree but no container. Cheers
Today our last day in Oamaru we spent mostly picking up local traditional caches, it was a wet day, but good for caching anyway. Today was also the day our team broke 4000!
thanks to all the CO's for placing the caches for us to find

Out and about with Karma Reprint this weekend, it was time to claim the Skyline walkway. Hosing down most of the way and the southerly blowing, it possibly wasn't the best weather but the occasional view when the clouds parted made it worthwhile. We had been coming down the other side and said "if there's a dairy, I'm getting a pie" and there was a take away shop - burger time and a break from the rain. Found the log but no container. Cheers
Day 3 of our visit to the Geo Fest 2017 in nearby Oamaru looking out caches with good favorite ratings, given the limited time we have in the area.

Down at the Oamaru Geofest with Keylev, UncleSamNZ and Stik-a-Crane. Today was the day to attempt solved caches and some challenge caches that we qualified for in and around Oamaru. Even managed to look at a few trads and two Wherigo's today!
We signed the log as Team SEAC 17 to save log paper.
Thanks to all the CO that have placed and maintained their caches.

Joined up with Aiden29 and BertieB to head south for the Geofest in Oamaru. We arrived a day early and decided to tackle this series today. With 4 sets of eyes it didn't take long to find this cache.
In town with Jag50 and Aiden29 - for the Labour Weekend Geofest. Started our weekend with this great walk, and it's fabulous views. A nice quick find here, thanx
First day down in Oamaru for the Geofest with Bertie Blowfish and Jag50. As the weather was so nice we headed out to tackle the Skyline walk. Didn't take too long for Bertie to locate the cache here.
On the way to do A@MY but bumped into Hill55 at a café this morning so wanted to do a few of his caches while in the area. A cheeky wee hide. TFTC
After finishing A2O we are spending a few days i Oamaru, and naturally we have to log a few caches . Tftc!
Begins our holiday in NZ in Christchurch, we came from Italy to find our son who lives there for two years.
Today we decided on a multi-day tour, after stopping at Omarama today continues to Dunedin, scenic road we will stop on the lakes that meet
Dunedin is back in Chch, stopping to pick up some cache
Greetings from Italy

#12477. After a walk along the skyline, it was time to descend. A quick find here. TFTC.
After finding half a dozen caches in the morning, it was time to head back to the motel for a warming cuppa and something to eat to sustain us for the rest of the day. Because the weather was so good (apart from being a tad chilly), we decided to tackle most of the caches around the sky line trail - which turned out to be more energetic than anticipated.
A bit of a steep descent from Skyline Trail #5. This cache wasn't an instant find as the GPSr was dithering under the tree cover, but once in the right place it was easily spotted, even though the camo paint job is very good. The CO must be a lot taller than me . TFTC.

No luck for us here today, but the steady rain fall meant we couldn't give this one much of a search
Time to have a bit of a walk along the Skyline Walkway. This was the fifth for the day.
Cheers for the cache.

A quick find before heading into town to get a hot chocolate. With today's heat I probably should have had an ice cream instead.
