Find# 11417Nice easy find.we have a free day to create some "Smileys".Maintenance was carried out where logsheets were mush, missing or caches damaged. TFTC paulyman, snorris 28 June 2024
Just love this trail and the weather today was fantastic as well. The cache is under a rock and has a new log sheetSpecial thanks to [paulyman](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=cc96b99b-ccf1-40f5-a2f3-bc2566c70973) and [snorris](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=4d8cf137-4354-4a10-91a6-2bc657942050) for the cache
Another look this morning before it gets too hot and another DNF for us.Perhaps too well hidden or missing??Would appreciate the CO's checking that it is still in situ, please
Spent quite a bit of time searching but was unable to find the item of interest, this time.
Caching in our local LGA for excercise very early to avoid others. Found today with Beckatoza and have photo proof however did not open or sign the cache for heath reasons. TFTC
Find 275 for the tribe.
Out caching with some muggle friends who we we are trying to convince to become Geocachers. With it being a lovely Autumn day with only a light breeze, where would you rather be than the Illawarra Upper Escarpment Trail? We found six of them on our last attempt up here and were keen to add a few to that tally today.
This was find #2 on the trail today. We were looking under the wrong rock originally but eventually found the right one. Logbook drenched / unsignable. Cache is in good condition but must have a leak.
Thanks paulyman and snorris for a great power trail.

Quick find, however log is very wet. Took a photo instead of signing. TFTC
Series log: We did a reccy here in March 2020 when we picked up #01 of the series planning to return at Easter time. One thing led the another and we decided to take the trail on today. Weather was great, we saw lots of creatures and and flowers, fabulous views and really good exercise with limited muggles on the track. Took us four hours with finding and signing geocaches, admiring the scenery and stopping for water breaks. Will target Toona Ciliata on a separate visit.

Cache log: Approaching GZ amid lots of spring flowers, we were very excited to spot two fabulously blooming waratahs! This container is hidden in a well-protected place. SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek

#7151 (8 of 10 today)
Last year I had been hoping to have a find on 30 June - but circumstances made that 100% impossible. As a result, I have less finds on this day of the year than any other - 10. Yeah, I know, right?
With the Geowife away for a few days cat-sitting the fur grandchild - only type we have - I was free to roam far afield.
So today I decided I'd go for a bushwalk, and pick up plenty of finds. Didn't quite get as many as I wanted - started late (waiting for a phone call that never came) and then had two long searches (one successful, one unsuccessful). Also had a longish stop at Brokers Nose Lookout with two bush walkers who had come from Mount Keira. And I'm not as fit as I'd like, and as a result went slower than I normally would.
So by the time I pulled the plug I had ten finds from eleven attempts.
I should also mention that there appear to be some phantom logs here - or someone is not signing / signing somewhere illogical. The early caches were last signed on 7 June, while later caches (ie further from civilisation) were most recently dated 26 February. Hmmm...
But an enjoyable afternoon and got back to *The Hademobile* just before sunset.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
So how much further can I get here today? With under two hours left to sunset (and yes, I do have a headlamp with me just in case) I might only have time for a few more, depending on the length of search.
As it was, this one took me a while as yet again I spotted GZ early and then passed it by, wandering aimlessly in the bush.
Finally got back to the right spot from the right direction... oh it just HAS to be there. And it was. Sigh.
Completed signing duties and replaced, then away to *#9*.

G'Day My Fellow Geocacher,
I’m DARKSIDEDAN aka Daniel from Canberra, Australia and I have had the pleasure of finding your Geocache during my travels as a Geocacher. This cache was an easy find.Found with Loci612 during the OzGeomuster The Gong 2019. The cache was in good condition and there was plenty of room in the logbook. I signed the logbook either Darksidedan or Darkside or DSD.
I love discovering Geocaches, Trackable items and collecting Pathtags. I have added your cache to my growing list of “Found It” logs. I hope that you enjoy Geocaching as much as I do. For me geocaching is a way of life. When I am not Geocaching, I am thinking of Geocaching. I would like to say a very big than you for placing your geocache and for maintaining it for the Geocaching Community.
Here is a little information about me. I have been geocaching since 2015. At the time of finding this cache I have over 5600 finds plus 340 hides. I am the creator of the “Duck Dip” Lab Cache that won 2nd Place for the Australian Capital Territory in the State Vs State - Battle of the Lab Caches at the OzGeoMuster - The Gong Mega 2019 in Wollongong, Australia.
Now let’s talk Pathtags. Currently I have over 4600 Pathtags in my collection plus about 500 Etagz. I currently have two of my own Pathtags (45762 & 46950) with another one in the works. In 2019, I won the right to place a Virtual 2.0 Cache from Geocaching.com, but I have not placed it yet. I am just trying to find somewhere that is worthy of a Virtual Cache.
I have included with my Found It log an Original and One of a Kind, Geocaching poem that I have written. I hope that everyone who reads it gets some enjoyment out of it.
Geocache Poem
by DARKSIDEDAN
My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

I am currently writing very detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC called "The Author". This Badge challenges geocachers to write logs with an average length of more than one hundred words per log. As of the 14th August 2019 my average Found It log is 125 words per log. I would like to get all my logs up to more than 200 words per log but I will have to wait and see how I go. Currently I am just trying to get my average up by finding and logging as many geocaches as I can. My apologies to anyone who finds my lengthy logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain the highest level with this challenge. After more than 5,800 geocaches (which includes all cache finds up and including this cache, I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task very soon. Progress has been better than anticipated.

This trail looked very inviting whilst staying in Wollongong for the Oz Geomuster 2019 event, so myself and DSD found a timeslot within the weekend to tackle this series and the two bonus caches to qualify for the challenge which had more than a year of unloved on it!
Really enjoyed the terrain and walk on this series, this sort of rainforest surroundings we can't get back in Canberra so it was nice for a change as all ACT bush looks the same!
Every cache was found, two of them needed maintenance very badly which I have logged, and one of them had innacurate coords which already has numerous logs saying so.
Thanks paulyman for this trail, we enjoyed the walk and caches

Meeting up with a group of fellow cachers this morning who were all keen to hit the Illawarra series after the St Arnaud 4 month to the Mega lead up event. A great time was had with pprass, gearguru, maccamob, Alansee, Phetlern, The Morris, Riddell, McLookers, geono, Noikmeister and DogboyOz as we enjoyed the walk through this picturesque location, locating all the caches and signing as OMG (OZGeomuster Mega Gang).
Thanks paulyman, snorris for the series placements.

I departed Seattle on Tuesday evening to begin an eight day adventure in both Australia and New Zealand. I flew to Los Angeles and then on to Sydney landing early on Thursday morning. I am here for the OZGeomuster 2019 "The Gong" Mega event down in Wollongong as a Lackey geocaching ambassador. I will be spending the next four and a half days down in the Wollongong area, geocaching with a lot of the locals. Then I will return to Sydney and fly over "the Ditch" to Wellington where I will spend two days before returning to Sydney for the long flight back to the "States" and finally home to Seattle.
Day three of my eight day adventure and today I started out by attending the event in Appin for the St Arnaud Mega event. It was at that event that I met up with pprass who organized this Illawarra Upper Escarpment trail hike along with maccamob, Alansee, Phetlern, The Morris, Riddell, McLookers, The Tritonz, Noikmeister and DogboyOz. We all caravanned to the trail head and started the hike on this over cast but rain free day.
This was the ninth cache we found on this trek and it took us a few minutes of searching before we located it. We signed the log as OMG (OZGeomuster Mega Gang) and replaced the cache before continuing on down the trail. Thank You paulyman & snorris for hiding and maintaining this cache for us to find on this excellent trail system.

Did this walk as part of a group today. It was most enjoyable with great views and lovely forest. And no rain!
Back on the trail after going to the lookout. Such wide panoramic views and such a hellish drop-off at the edge. A quick find of #8 by the ones in the lead of OMG. TFTC paulyman.
We flew to Sydney from Bendigo on the new direct flights, hired a car and drove down to Wollongong to attend the muster.
Today Mr Morris joined with a group of others to walk the escarpment. Log was signed as OMG (Oz Geomuster Gang).
Thanks for contributing to the fun paulyman

Just needed to find the correct rock!
In the area for the OzGeoMuster, this was a lovely trail to be conquered as part of a group. Pprass assembled a fantastic gang: gearguru, maccamob, Alansee, The Tritonz, Geono, noikmeister, DogboyOz, The Morris, Phetlern, Riddell and myself. We saw a wide variation in foliage and terrain, there were amazing views. Thanks paulyman and snorris, I loved the expedition.

On our last day in Australia it was time for a nice trail. Thanks for showing this beautiful place, we have seen a lot of wildlife (and bikers as well). Greetings from the Netherlands
Hardest so far - GZ out by 5m or so. Great spot though and obvious hiding spot when you stumble on it. TFTC
We have travelled down from Sydney’s Northern Beaches to the Wollongong area for the April school holidays, camping in our Jayco Swan Outback camper trailer at the Corrimal Beach Tourist Park. Today (ANZAC Day) we were off to do some more of the Illawarra Upper Escarpment Cache Trail, which we had started on our day of arrival in the area, and then to do a variety of cache types in & around Stuart Park in North Wollongong. This was our 4th find of the day, and 96th find of the holiday.
After visiting the spectacular Brokers Point Lookout we returned to the Illawarra Upper Escarpment Cache Trail for this one, making a quick find at GZ. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. TFTC paulyman, snorris.

Hardest cache to find today as there are lots of rocks and GPS was 5 metres out from GZ.
Team MavEtJu suggested that today would be a good day for our attempt at the escarpment series. He'd been here in Dec 2014 so although there were some vague suggestions on where a few caches might be, we still had to find them all in our own right. The sky was thankfully overcast so it made for easy walking for most of the loop.
Stopped in to the trig point for a few GCA points and to take in the view. Then back onto the trail for another easy one thanks to the hint.
Thanks paulyman and snorris.

OCW Pumba2015. Been wanting to do this series for quite sometime but finding the right time to do it was the issue. Pulled up in the car park near the entrance to the walk and we set off.
The walk itself is very easy to do. Surprisingly enough, most of the walk appears to be following an old creek bed - given the way in which the rock formations and path is constructed. We took our time to complete the series. From start to finish was about 3.5hrs.
Nearly all the logs are very soggy but we were still able to sign our names. Hints provided for each cache are fairly spot on and the co-ords are reasonably accurate (within about 5m). TFTC series paulyman and snorris! Sorry for the generic logs!

OCW Stumbles Mate. If it wasn't for the odd looking rock and seeing the container shining in the sunlight, I would have walked right past it with Stumbles Mate's GPS telling us 20metres more. Tftc
TFTC! Went on this hike with a friend and enjoyed the walk and especially the view!
Great walk. Much appreciate you placing these caches as its more incentive to get out bysh walking. Thankyou for the cache
T.I.U.E.T. - #1 was my 600th cache, so I thought I would celebrate this milestone & Australia Day by doing this series.
Starting fairly early (8.30) I made my way around the escarpment on a not to hot, overcast day. A very nice walk, only saw 1 cyclist & only heard 2 people (near Broker's Nose)
I did find Toona ciliate, GCYTEY, back on 14/March-2015, with Hillster, & finally got around to do the rest of this series today.
