After 4000km of a round trip from Adelaide through Brisbane and down the Australian east coast to Lakes Entrance before turning for home for which this challenge was a key target we completely failed to find the container at GZ despite 20 minutes of searching everywhere we could think of within 20 metres of GZ.

Ah ha...I finally get to log this enormously humungous challenge that seemed to cast its shadow for such a long time...and then when I finally did fill the last couple of gaps I forgot!! Suffice to say this will remain quite a memorable challenge as so much double checking was required...along with avrious trips as caches are not always nicely or evenly spaced. The table itslef has not copied but you can see the distances from homebase! TFTC and the challenge. Part 2 to follow...

After hearing my good friend, au.fait was in town, l ditched the couch for some warm clothes and a beanie and headed out for a catch-up involving coffee/hot chocolate and some catching.. this was one of the caches we stopped to find. Discussions were had over the rules of this challenge, and i think i should be 2/3 of the way to qualifying .. just need to start the worksheet. Challenge accepted qualifying log to follow in due time.

I was highly excited about finally finishing this challenge. I had a spreadsheet that I have been working on for a long time and it was finally filled. So was disappointed that we had to PAF for a hint to GZ as we could not find the field puzzle. Off we went and found and signed the log - YAY. Home and I put together a list on geocaching.com website from my spreadsheet. But wait when checking it I had a problem with three of the caches. One I could replace and the other two I thought oh well we have a trip up north coming up we will have to pick them up then - SAD as I was.bunadoorian has been putting together his list and checking distances using GSAK and geocaching.com website.After the past couple of days of re checking everything since my write note - I think I have solved the issue of different kms from home on the list I put together . On my spreadsheet that I had used to put my list together I had always used the kms from home from the geocaching.com webpage cache page. I believe this is correct. When I put them into a list on my geocaching.com page so you can check them easier as the GC codes would all be correct I realised that for some mystical reason the distance changed the further from home. The two caches in particular that effect my public list is GC59FFY Back of Bourke - 789.56km from home and GC22QYG Stoned In 829.22km from home.I will add the photos of my spreadsheet pages so you can see the dates found for all geocaches.So my emotions have had a rollercoaster ride since Friday and now I am just so GLAD this challenge is over. I have enjoyed our many travels around Australia - including stopping at specific kms from home to grab a cache.Thank you for the great challenge - Poiter.h

Well yesterday was a day of mixed emotions. I drove with bunadoorian to Moe to basically just sign this cache. After a recent trip north of Newcastle to pick up the last 6 distances required I update my spreadsheet that I have had going for quite a long while. We get to the co-ords and search for the field puzzle so GZ can be calculated. No field puzzle found so first emotion for today FRUSTRATION- so after a 20 mins search a PAF was required. Thank you to our saviour. We now have GZ but still no field puzzle.So off we go to find the cache and sign the log book in the large sized cache. Next emotions - HAPPINESS and ELATION. Ok now once home just to put the found caches into a public bookmark. Done and now to check the order by KMs . NOOO wait I have 1, no make that 2 , noo 3 sections that have double ups and that means 3 more to find - SAD and FRUSTRATION again for the second time today. So glad I have checked now to fullfill Pointer.h 's request. I would have been DEVASTATED if my log was removed because I hadn't checked it thoroughly. We have another trip North to visit bunadoorian's family in June so now to plan to find the required three caches on the way up. Current emotion is TIRED as I write this write note at 4am because I cant sleep thinking about the errors. For information the cache closest to home is GC81GPJ O.I.C.U and is 0.01km from home.

Grub62 and I had a great time getting the caches to fulfill the requirements of this challenge cache and I love a field puzzle but sadly the field puzzle here seems to have gone missing. So PAF was employed and they were able to help. The PAF had also used the same way of discovering GZ. Grub62 and I still have a few caches to find after starting our lists. We have signed the logbook but will claim a find after we find a few more caches. TFTC.

What a pleasure it is to finally log a find on a Well Travelled Cacher challenge!! I had set my sights on the QLD one and worked on it for a little while. That goal was achieved about six months ago but due to the difficulty getting to the cache container, it remains unclaimed. Plans were being hatched for a group assault on that one when suddenly this came into my view and that was it. New challenge accepted! With the knowledge that this was going to be passed on our travels over Easter I had a check to see if we were even in the ball park. Yessss!!! Not far off completion at all! Just a few strategic finds along our driving days and wed qualify. So the log was signed on our journey and now that were back home and settled I have put my list neatly in a spreadsheet. Pretty much exactly what 2Wagtails said in their WriteNote. Only Mr ATLH had put his hand on WP1 and mistook it for a permanent fitting so we kept hunting for ages. Then I checked So glad we didnt have to leave without signing!! Will log as a find when we get home in a couple of weeks.

We are so happy to find this cache. The first WP gave us grief yesterday and we thought we looked everywhere. After spending a lot of time without luck we left to give it ‘some thought’. Came up with nothing new so reached out for a hint. Oh boy… we didn’t check over there. Thanks for that.
This morning we returned with a spring in our step and full of optimism. Found what we were looking for at the WP, decoded the ‘message’ and we were off to GZ.
Oh we do like an ammo can in the bush - our favourite. Today we signed the log and we know we qualify but will have to wait until we get back home to log as found as our list is on the laptop there.

We do love a challenge and this is a beauty.

found with mogni. Got to the listed co ords and looked and looked and looked. Made a PAF call. Turns out we both thought the other person had looked there and no one looked there. Mogni solved the field puzzle and we strolled off to the final. quick find. Nice location. i do like the container.

I knew I would be able to get this one. It took me ages to compile my list. There must be a macro somewhere for this.

I stuffed up on actually getting the cache. I must have been stressed about finding this one after all the time spent on making the list. Got to the cache coords but couldn't find the "field puzzle". Cache blind. I even ended up resorting to PAF for the first time ever. Just for a hint on where to find it. Not hard really.
Went back today and quickly found it, solved it and a short walk to have the cache found and signed.

Since my 6 week holiday to Queensland was a disaster I’m now back in Victoria.
There is a Sidetracked event on in Bunyip tonight that I’m planing on attending so thought I might as well come a bit further and pick up an LGA that I haven’t cached in before.
A nice drive up the Hwy with not to much traffic about.
Funny how you come back to places that you have been to before a few times and thought why didn’t I know about caching before.
Apart from a new LGA this cache was the main reason to come all the way out here as I now qualify (hopefully).
I was able to finish off what was required on my short QLD trip so now to sort out my list and post.

We came along here with ilook4geo to have a look for this cache. The first thing was the field puzzle. We checked out several different familiar hides before finding the info needed to get us moving further. Worked a bit of magic on the info and were given the new numbers we needed to locate the container. All was found to be in good condition.
Woohoo! The last Found It log was over 13 monthe ago, so we have gathered lots of unloved days.

Found on a trip around country Victoria after the Wangaratta Mega. The focus for this trip was to chip away at the geotour, find oldies, dead premiers and windmills while visiting new LGAs. This was one of the caches we targetted. I've been working on this challenge for the past few years and was very happy to get my name on the log. We contacted a very helpful recent finder for assistance as the clues at the first waypoint have gone missing. I still have a few more 10k zones to achieve, so cannot log a find yet. TFTC.

It’s New Years Eve and Day 6 of the Bring In The New Year (BITNY) road-trip. It’s time to finish up in eastern Victoria with a mixture of cache types in Moe and Trafalgar.

I had started to work on this challenge so given we were nearby we stopped to sign the log. A large search began and nothing could be found. With a PAF we managed to locate the final although I’m not sure how we get from the posted to the final. I have asked a number of people since and it appears that there was supposed to be something at the posted to help. We did a thorough search but perhaps we still missed it .

At least the challenge of trying to get to the hide reflects the challenge ahead of actually qualifying.

I thought l had enough but lm a few odd ones off but l thought l would post the tools l have been using to help me figure out whats where (there may be a easier way than this as its a few steps). I have figured out my base cords (centre point/gz) closest to my home and then project circles from this point via https://www.mapdevelopers.com/draw-circle-tool.php every 10km. l then cross reference that with the geocaching map but double check to see how far away the caches are using https://www.freemaptools.com/how-far-is-it-between.htm (and no this is not a plug for that website, lve just found it super hand in many cases).

I did debate about using the geocaching extension in google earth but l find that jumps around to much to be reliable enough (when you dealing with 10km lots when your at a 500 - 600 mark it makes a big difference l reckon).

I found this cache on 12 April last year on one of my trips through Victoria.

While I qualified at the time, it has taken me more than a year to go through my records and list the caches required to complete the challenge. It was not helped by having previously found three of the similar challenges in South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory and having to go through those logs to ensure that I included a fresh list of caches. However, a wet day at home finally provided the impetus to complete this, the most difficult part of the challenge.

As I have used my home as the starting point for one of the other challenges, I have chosen to use the listed coordinates for one of my unknown caches, GC3QDTZ 'But where do I start?' (S 34° 53.869' E 138° 36.075') as the starting point, which seemed appropriate!

I had a look for this one but I couldn't find it today. I didn't even get off the starting grid - I couldn't find the field puzzle. Under one log, there was a cavernous hole that I poked my hand in a long way, but couldn't get any further. Perhaps it's in there - I didn't want to go any further.

After rolling out the swag last night by the beach near the Powlett River, I continued my trip east today, visiting some interesting places and grabbing a few selected caches along the way. It was terrific weather for it too.

However, if I am going to make Queanbeyan by early next week for the Mega event, I really need to get a bit more focused and stop being distracted bu all the interesting places to visit!

This was one of my target caches for the day. I collected the required information and quickly worked out the final coordinates. The cache was a quick find at GZ and is in good order.

While I qualify for this challenge, I will need to wait until I get home in a few weeks before I can compile my list. So I will log this as a note for now and convert it to a found log when I can post my list.

The Mega had been and gone however myself and FFLL#1 were staying on for another week with some other commitments. I had a charity Gala dinner to attend to on the Saturday following the Mega so it only made sense to stay on in Victoria. We were staying out Gippsland way so we had targeted Robot Charli and a couple other series to do, however the weather decided to go against us and we did not get all that were planned. It doesnt matter, we still got a fair few done in the time we were here. Once it was time to start heading home, we went via Albury to pick up some more puzzles of which we had solved.

Picked this one up on a day out doing Robot Charli. However do not yet qualify, I need 2 more bands (490-500 and 670-680) which I will attempt to fulfil on my xmas drive to the Gold Coast. Once I fill those 2 bands, I will log my find.

Well dang! Felt sure we had this one beat but are missing the 990 - 1000 and 940-950 ranges. Who knew that in all our travels we hadn't picked up a cache in Tamworth or Crowdy Bay National Park [:o]

Lots of muggles around today and a good variety of hides again.
I checked this one and like 2 of the others that I have done, I have completed the challenge.
With 20,000 finds all over Australia it was easy to locate the compliant finds with GSAK.

Found and signed this one today, but still have 5 intervals in the range to find caches to complete the task. Will log once we complete the Challenge.

Found and signed this log with locus cache in the way to Sale to visit a cemetery for the Victorian Premiers Challenge. On the way we stopped here and I found waypoint 1 and after a bit of an adventure both locus cache and I found the cache and signed the log.

I don't think I qualify for this cache at present but haven't had a chance to sit down and work it out properly so this is a write note until I qualify.

As I'd started off being 3 months behind in my logging I am desperately trying to catch up and am mass logging to do so.

I'd come to Melbourne for the 2017 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards day and ended up staying for about 5 days
Most of the nights were spent at the kindly kmace's place although the last couple I decided to spend in the car due to unforeseen caching circumstances that had me in strange areas
Today was a very unusual day in that we did not start caching until after 2pm and then I DNFd my last cache attempt at 4.21am the following morning [)][)]
Overall I had 3 DNFs and 21 cache finds between Melbourne and Sale and back again!

So now that I've found a macro and run it , it seems that I only actually found 20 caches today as although my name is in the log book I cannot claim this challenge as I am missing one 10km band

Well I had a minute to search before the pirates called
So had a brief search
But not hard, and not for long
Ah well

We were able to meet the requirements for this cache sometime ago, but until today we have not been in the Moe area to look for the cache.

As we have already completed "The Well-Travelled Cacher Challenge: SA", we have used a different reference point and a completely different set of caches for "The Well Travelled Cacher Challenge: Vic". Our reference point was our second closest cache to home, namely "GC2VVBQP Ulverstone to Turners Beach Pathway 01".

* the fields in the list of caches are: distance range; actual distance; GC code; cache name; date found; and the cache type.
* all of the caches are physical - only traditional, multi and mystery caches have been included
* only one substitute has been used (Bass Strait made this necessary) and that has been highlighted in the list of caches

Today we arrived in Moe to look for the cache. We got to the posted coordinates and began looking around for the starting point. After about 10 minutes the cache container was found and the field puzzle was in hand. The hint now made sense and it wasn't long before we had the coordinates for GZ. Then it was a short walk in a pleasant area. This cache was an easy find as it was out in the open. Thankfully it was still secure and the contents were in very good condition. After signing the log, we returned the cache to its original hide and covered it with a quantity of natural camo.

Thanks Poiter.h for a very enjoyable challenge and for the cache. We enjoy challenges as they provide an opportunity to reflect on aspects of our caching achievement. This cache earns a favourite from us.
