Sadly this cache has been muggled and, with the reserve being increasingly used as a rubbish dump, it's time for it to go. Thanks to all those who took the time to walk up the hill to the historic gravesite. Rest in peace Frances Peat.

This was a triple treat! First the history lesson, then the cool spot for a campfire, but the best of all was the wildlife. A big bush turkey has built a massive nest only metres from the site. Please be careful not to disturb it when visiting. Tftc

Found with Shaneo58 on a nice day in late autumn, with temperatures in the low 20s. We just wanted to find some after a long break due to travel restrictions, for the last two months. We came down to the Central Coast to catch up on some old ones. We did an u-turn near here so came here also. Log signed and caches replaced as found. Thanks For The Cache barefootjeff

Have wanted to do this one for a while. Driving past it twice every day has been annoying. But today was the day. An early mark from work and chance to stretch the legs up a hill. What a fantastic spot. Great history and some great views if you explore a bit further.
FP from BFJ, many thanks for the cache.
Dropped off a trackable coin to help it on its way.

I've been driving this road for over 40 years and remember the old road before the current road was built and never knew Peat was buried here. Thanks for the History lesson and cache.

We’re here from Texas visiting family while this coronavirus madness is going on. Just spent four days in Avoca beach. We are part of the CMA ( Christian motorcycle Association) back home. We have reservations to rent a bike for 4-5 days beginning in April if God willing. Enjoyed the story here. I feel this would be a good place for a mother that has lost a child to come and reflect. I read about this grave and have been looking for it unsuccessfully. Delighted that a geocache brought me here

Located at 10:58am. #1016.

A stop off to stretch the legs allowed me to jog around and head up the hill to make the find. Great views especially as the morning was nice and misty. Paid my respects at the grave and soon after had CIH.

Upon descending, the rain started and was incredibly refreshing. Hopefully it continues for awhile.

Cheers for the placement Barefootjeff.

It seems the Central Coast Council are updating the date on their Service Interruptions due to Bushfires page but not its content, as the reserves I've checked are all open again. With milder conditions and some significant rainfall in the forecast, cache on!

Found this one with team NZ MEGA 2020 as we were passing through the area, over here in Australia for the GeoMuster mega event in Wollongong. Heading back to Sydney today to fly home tonight.

This was a really cool little spot and glad we pulled off the highway to make a find here. Interesting but sad history here. One of us deciuded to go for the direct route, despite the rest of us suggesting the road was the better path - and we beat him to GZ, obviously. Thanks for bringing this spot to our attention, bfj. TFTC!!!

A group of five of us from Auckland, New Zealand have embarked ourselves upon Australian territory to wile away the time here at the 2019 MEGA and to gather up some old caches and see the country while we’re at it.

We had seen this cache on FMZ's radar on our way a few days ago (he wanted to do one of this C.O's caches), but it was dark so I thought better of it since I happened to be navigator at the time, glad we ignored this until the day time and now on our way back to the airport sort of, we came in here for a look-see.

It was a lovely walk up and while my geomates went the long way, I went the more direct way and would have been more successful if it wasn't for the bush bach that was ahead of me! Now, I'm a kiwi that's never been bitten by a snake, a reputation I'm wanting to maintain for some reason... so I decided to join the path my mates had wisely chosen. However, I still wanted to be the one who found this cache first so to speak, and that I did, by walking up past the graves and soon had it in hand. rusty took some fotos and we meandered slowly back to the car the way we came and headed south.

All logs while in Australia were signed as NZ MEGA 2020 to save space. We are FMZ, Agazo, rustynz, harisree and myself.

Day 6: A group of Westies (rustynz, harisree, Gorby, FMZ and Agazo - temporary Westie visa holder), are in Australia from NZ to attend the OZGeoMuster MEGA in Wollongong. All logs have been signed NZMEGA 2020

Well gorby went right, and the rest of us went left, and we ended up meeting somewhere in the middle Big Grin

A short walk from the grave, and the cache was soon located. Photos taken, log signed and we were on our way. Thanks for the hide and the history barefootjeff

This is the sixth day of caching for Team NZ Mega 2020, which includes Harisree, rustynz, FMZ, Gorby, and yours truly. We are now heading back towards the airport picking up a few as we go.

Gorby tried to make a beeline to GZ, but then decided better and came with the team aklong the road. He was then able to find the cache ahead of us. TFTC.

Whilst not a particularly long walk from the track head, I made it as hard as possible for myself by accidentally taking every incorrect path on the way. As soon as I got to the grave I spited the hide though, and I soon had CIH. Spotted TB41ZQY while I was visiting.

On our way from Sydney to the Central Coast for a day of Good Friday geocaching. We stopped in here for a picnic breakfast. Lots of families and fisherman gathering and, of course, the obligatory coffee vans and Mr Whippy. We headed up towards GZ and almost fell for the direct route but decided to turn back to the not less-travelled road when dense overgrowth got in our way. Tragic little gravesite. And a shame that this whole area is not better maintained. Went up to check out the view after finding the container. Parking almost full by the time we returned to the car. SL TFTC Cheers... I parked at the main parking area near the toilets as I wanted to do a bit of walking after 2.5 days in the car. I walked around the the start of the track and headed in. I came to a fork in the track and the right way pointed to the cache in 120 metres, the left track went in the opposite direction. So I took the right track, bit of a mistake here coz it very quickly disappeared into the wilderness, the path got thinner and thinner and got sucked into the dense overgrowth. I was carrying my walking pole so I trudged onwards, I came to a massive boulder, taller than me and I clambered around until I could get myself up there and continued over the boulders, "hopping" from one to the next, This really REALLY tested my knee today as I am always so scared to hurt it after the injuries of previous years. I saw a little clearing and as I got to it I saw a path, the grave and that the path led to the LEFT choice in the fork!!! I was shattered. hot and tired I looked at the grave to pay my respects, children resting always make me want to cry, no-one should outlive their kids. I took myself up the the little cave so I could rest in the cool shade and then would attempt to find the cache in a few minutes, I sat down, got out my drink bottle, took off my hat - looked around and saw the neat cairn. Oh there - just a little out of reach, I will get it in a minute. guzzled the drink, took a photo from my vantage point and then grabbed the cache, dropped in a discoverable trade pack and replaced as found. Since I made it this far I decided to pop up top for a look at the view - so glad I did, an easy peasy clamber and I was on top of the world, I could see my car and wished for a parachute or flying fox. I turned and headed back down - on my bottom so I wouldn't slip. I made it back to the car - 2km round trip for me with all the extra wandering. Grabbed a caramel nut sundae from the ice cream van and found out it was 27 degrees today. Back to the car and off I went again. Thanks for taking me up there and I must trust the left! I am a lefty after all.

25-Mar-19
Found this on our way to Morriset for a few days, as we always stop here for our lunch spot and have known it was here, just never went for the find, so was determined to get it this time. The view from the top looking towards the bridge and the river was fantastic as there were plenty of boats out on the water.
We were able to drive right to the grave. would not attempt in a low 2wd.
Fav point from us.
Thanks barefootjeff for the hide

Two novos stopped by today on the way home from picking up our much loved [Green Lantern geocar](https://coord.info/TB79T29) from being repaired (under warranty) after it suffered catastrophic engine failure on NYE. The car died on the M1 at Wyong on my way to Muswellbrook for a gig and got towed to a facility 200m from this GZ. When I went to retrieve it, I was very sad that it looked like it was all over. I figured that I would turn the car's light stalk or "RX4" marque or something into a hitchhiker and drop the TB here into Peat's Grave where it would be sure to live on. Seemed fitting for a few reasons...

But it turns out the Green Lantern lives!

I can't describe how great it is to have this car back. It is part of the family. For one, I can start geocaching again - sharing a car has been most difficult! After stopping by Deerubbin Reserve nearby for some soccer, we drove up to the top here, parked the Lantern so that it could overlook the EXACT location where it was left for dead ~2 months ago, and walked the 12m to this cache to mark the momentous occasion. We SLTN but left one of the 16 broken valves in the cache as SWAG. A collector's item I'm telling ya. TFTC, Jeff. We had been saving this find for a special occasion. This will do it!

When I come to a rest area I generally check whether there is a cache nearby, they tend to be. This cache I would class as one of a few which stands out, not only because of the walk to get there (shame on the junk littered on the path) but also getting to young frances grave sight and stumbling on cache hidden in a cave. Thanks for cache description, voted. Tftc

Awesome cache; awful to see all the litter and refuse on the path leading up to the grave. It must have been such a peaceful site when the grave was first laid, now with the constant noise of the highway and all the rubbish...

We drive up to Central Coast quite frequently and I always think about the cache that is waiting to be found near the motorway exit.
Today we decided to take the exit to explore the large recreational area and, of course, for me to find this cache. Through a short uphill walk I arrived at Peat's grave and from there it was a short distance to the cache.

A nice little detour off the busy Freeway to nab our first cache today as we drive from Campbelltown to Maitland. Always love to look at the wide Hawkesbury River and today we got a lot closer to it! Up, up, up the track we went and found the grave near the top. A bit more climbing and we arrived at GZ and found a good sized container. SL at 10.07am Left: peg fridge magnet. Three bush turkeys were scratching nearby and one came quite close for a photograph, and was not at all phased by us humans. #5260 TFTC barefootjeff

On the few occasions when I have been travelling up the M1 towards the Central Coast, I have always wondered what it was like down at the rest stop area. From the motorway it looked quite inviting. Since there is also a cache nearby, I made the stop to satisfy my curiosity and to pick up a cache, too.

The rest area looks more like a good place to launch a boat than to spend the day with a picnic. After a very brief look we headed towards where the track up to the grave starts. Initially, I considered driving the track, but on the one side there is a gate (which has been bypassed), so I thought the better of that. A quick stroll wouldn't be too taxing, after all.

We made our way up the track, sad to note how much litter and dumping was up here. Perhaps a good place for a CITO oneday? It didn't take long for us to find the grave and read the inscription. Then I made my way to GZ and quickly made the find.

On the way down a ute with two people in it passed us, making its way to the top. A few minutes later they returned. Seemed a bit quick for them to have been caching, so I assumed they were just having a look at the lookout point. Hope they could look past the litter ...

We planned to stop here on our way north but I wasn't concentrating at the roundabout and I was heading back on to the highway before I realized. I considered backing up but after spying all the police cars decided that was not smart! So we tried again on the way back. It was a much better time of day to be stopping and heading up here in the daylight rather than the dark. After doing a quick GCA virtual we worked our way to GZ and made an easy find. We also found a much easier way back to the track (as usual). Thanks barefootjeff, glad we got it right on the way back.

Each year I follow the Aust Solo Speedway Championships which are held over four meetings. This year those meetings are at Kurri Kurri nsw, Undera vic, Mildura vic, and Gillman sa.
It only seems sensible to do some geocaching along the way. It helps to break the driving and I get a lot of enjoyment from it.
Please excuse this generic log as there are too many to do them individually, but I certainly appreciate the dedicated work of all the COs in providing us with this great hobby.
