Awesome to find this archived cache here. Cache is all good
Well what a day it was, a day filled with more downs than ups and but overall a few caches were found in and around port Lincoln. Davidwazza and I headed to the Eyre Peninsula for a weekend away to clean up as much as we could and collect a few new LGAs for Davidwazza. This morning 2nd cache in we ended up cracking the oil sump in the car and having to sort out what to do and how to fix the issue. Lucky a mechanic was at hand and a prolonged trip was soon scheduled and a hire car was in hand. I guess things happen when you use a car for things that it’s not made to do.
Other than that a great day out.
Thanks for the cache

This weekend, I joined gridge98 on a trip to Eyre Peninsula, primarily visiting Port Lincoln and its surroundings. We saw its famous marina full of trawlers, and we also ended up visiting Coffin Bay and enjoyed fresh oysters. A nice weekend with weather, and certainly a great vicinity to see.
After having a successful day yesterday, we awoke with motivation and optimism for the day that was ahead of us. However after having our first geocache find, a rock had hit the vehicle's oil sump, leaving the car inoperable and requiring the car to be towed to a mechanic in Port Lincoln. The morning was then spent addressing the vehicle's repair plan, and then trying to salvage the remainder of our weekend's plans. We walked around the centre of Port Lincoln, before finding a hire vehicle for us, and then the afternoon was spent driving around the area. It was interesting seeing Port Lincoln's marinas and also caught glimpse of the shark cages. We ended up drowning our sorrows in the evening (whilst celebrating gridge98's birthday) at the craft brewery, which was probably a highlight of the day.
Another cache that had been recently archived, but possibly still remained. Given we were in the area and had just completed a section of the coastal walk, we decided to make a short detour, and try to find this one. After a few minutes of looking, I came across something as per the hint, and sure enough, the cache was found hidden away. The cache container was still in good shape, but the logbook has deteriorated significantly. A nice little hidden away location. Thanks viper231 for the cache placement.

Found on a weekend away, just hubby and I. Lovely weather. Easy find. TFTC.
We were walking along the coastal path having arrived in Port Lincoln for the day off the cruise ship the Astor. Nice quick find thanks to the clue and noticing something out of place. Thanx
Hi there viper231.
We found your cache **"Acanthophis antarcticus"** at 12:06:00 PM today. (This makes our find count 15714).
Not a great day to start caching around Port Lincoln - We only found 3 caches & DNF'd 4 before we gave up. [:(!]
Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

CPwanderer, GoodLook and I headed off for a weekend in Port Lincoln via an overnight stop in Whyalla
Our weekend was unexpectedly extended by a day due to illness and so my tally at the end of the 'weekend' was 168 cache finds
Sadly this was marred by a massive 28 DNFs
Port Lincoln, despite being virgin caching territory for all 3 of us, did not provide us with the pleasure that we had anticipated
So many of the caches were bison tubes and those that we did find, quite often were in places where a larger cache could have been hidden The other issue was the lack of maintenance on many caches
There are people trying their best to maintain the 'wheres wolly' cache hides however their resources are stretched thinly..... so if you are heading over, please pack heaps of cache maintenance containers, bags and log books and help out where you can. [^]
That being said, the trip was still a blast and some great caches were found and great views were seen!
Roaming Wendy very kindly came out with us for the rest of today and as a result, our find count increased as did the laughter in the car
Thank you for your company [^]

Relatively quick find!!! Thanks viper231 for the hide!!
This was one of the caches found on a three day odyssey on the Eyre Peninsula! Myself, GoodLook and locuscache had never cached south of the Cowell/Cleve area so we had high hopes of some great caching. We worked our way down through Port Neil and Tumby Bay and grabbed those along the highway plus a few a little further afield.
Our time in and around Port Lincoln was frustrating. Lots very small micros, lots of very rusty tins and more dnfs than ive ever had in a day before this. We were very fortunate that local cacher , Roaming Wendy joined as. Her expert knowledge of the town certainly helped. A medical issue had us stay a third day. This worked out very well as we could do some relaxed caching on our way home.
A special thanks to Roaming wendy for her help and to those who hid caches in the area … particularly the Geo-Ambos, Wheres Wolly and Viper231. Special thanks also to my “mildly obsessive” caching buddies on this trip …………………………… amazing fun!!

Woo hoo, we found it!
After messaging Roaming Wendy, she graciously joined us and jumped in our car in order to cache around Lincoln with us (as we'd not been having much fun with all of the DNFs).
Found whilst on a road trip with CPwanderer and Locus Cache, with the aim of the weekend to cache in and around Port Lincoln - fresh territory for us all. We certainly had a great time, however with a DNF rate of about 40% [:(!], it was tough going! We did however thoroughly enjoy the beautiful locations and scenery.
After joking all day on the Sunday we should spend another night in Pt Lincoln, circumstances presented that meant we needed to extend our time away! We took it slowly on the way home which enabled us to once again visit some terrific places
Thanks for the cache

Yay! Added a dry log sheet, thanks Ben for filling in the afternoon caching , not many finds but plenty of hard looking and a second visit required to nail the ones I couldn't find first go .
Spent Easter down Port Lincoln with the family doing some fishing, sand boarding, 4WDing around the National Park. Was a fantastic weekend. Went for a quick walk to grab a few of the caches near the caravan park while waiting for the kids to get ready. Was going to give up on this one as I was totally stumped but gave one spot the extra attention it required and came up with the goods. The log in this one has needs replacing. TFTC
#2357 - Found by Bruce in a reet base on our ride around the Parnkalla Trail. All part of the fun and challenges on our AroundOz bicycle tour via the highest peak in each State and mainland Territory.

Out on my own this morning for an early morning walk. Beautiful along this track and I have it all to myself. I looked here first but not good enough Checked clue after 15 mins and went back to where I started. Thanks for the cache
Staying in Tumby Bay for a few days we set off finding the caches around here cleaning up a lot of unfounds from previous trips, as this is a tourist spot it would be nice if the caches weren't so hard to find, so much area to hide larger caches but the town is full of micros,
Found by Mary & David, in company with pprass (signed as m & p), at 1320. Our third day in Port Lincoln. Today, we cached our way around the local area again. Weather further improved, with only a couple of light showers today. A familiar container, but well hidden so it took a couple of minutes to find. Our thanks to viper231.
Found at 1:20 PM GAFF3 in the company of maccamob. We signed the log book as "M&P".
This cache didn't take that long this time because we now know what the code for "stump" is
2 of the most deadliest snakes in the world - right here! How (un) lucky is that [B)]
Thanks viper231.

We found this cache as part of a 4 day trip which went from Adelaide to Sceale Bay returning to Adelaide. The purpose of the trip was to remove Freddo was his home location too near the Clipsal 500 track and for us and Freddo to achieve a difficulty 4 1/2 and terrain 4 cache to make us well rounded cachers. The cache we needed to find was located near Venus Bay and we successfully completed this goal early on Friday morning which left us plenty of time to find "just one more". Loved the scenery and having the opportunity revisit this great area Thanks to viper231 for placing this cache.
7:15:00 PM. Out and about for a drive while here on holidays before continuing our trip west. What better way to get to know an area but go caching. Decided to go for a walk from the caravan park on our last evening here. This took longer to find than it should have but we were glad to sign the log. Thanks viper231 for placing this cache.
Plenty of huffing and puffing going on out here this morning but you know what they say, "No pain, no gain". Thanks for the cache.
Another viper lesson on the fauna of the area and a walk on the excellent coastal trail. TNLNSL Thanks viper231.
On a stroll along the Parnkalla trail this morning, I was having mixed results with finding caches !!
DNF's vs Finds, were about even
But with every viper231 find I was learning the hider's modus operandi
My eyesight was becoming finely tuned to a particular colour too
This cache was a find, and I learned a bit more about hider and death adders
Not my favourite snake due to its habit of not getting out of the way [:o]
The only Aussie snake, I actually fear
And one of the main reasons I carry a PLB on bushwalks
TFTC in a scenic place [^]

Found on a four day trip to Port Lincoln and area. I was with non geocachers so had, on numerous occasions, to curb my desire to find "just one more" cache. This was last of viper231s caches for me on this trip. I know there are more so may return sometime, preferably in the summer when I can swim with seals and perhaps see an Acanthophis antarcticus. I have never seen an adder in Australia, only in Africa. Thanks for the cache viper231.
Staying at the Port Lincoln caravan park, while caching in the area.
The cache was found quickly, thanks for the hunt today, viper231.
