Chewbacca72 and I are traveling during 4 months through Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. A few caches that are on our way should not be missing. This cache is one of them. Many thanks to 2i for hiding.Best regards, searchersab
I'm caching solo today while the other half is in charge of Christmas trees. Today's mission is to head out towards Helensville and Kaukapakapa for half a dozen caches. My heart sunk when I arrived at GZ for this one, as I recalled we had stopped here before when travelling north, and on those other occasions had decided not to venture on to find the cache. Today was hardly ideal after all the recent rain, but I had my gumboots on, and really wanted to clear this area of caches, so on I went. Down the gravel road through the bush, past the abandoned burnt out car, and through the very wet paddock with almost waist high grass and weeds. Once at the stand of trees the GPS led me to a good sized specimen, and I had a good look around in all the most likely places. Nothing to be seen. Reading previous logs I noticed it had sometimes been found on the ground, so I checked through the vegetation, and finally spotted a sistema stuck in the mud. Very relieved to sign this one off. The container was full of water but the notebook in it's plastic bag was only a litle damp. Now to head back across that boggy paddock to the car . . .
Today I was on a mission as part of Team G0LD to Te Rau Puriri Regional Park on South Kaipara Head, to hopefully clear all the caches there and as many more as possible on the peninsula.
With the Te Rau Puriri mission successfully completed, it was on to the rest of the local caches despite the very hot day. Really glad for the aircon in the cache mobile in between caches.
Heading home now and stopped off for this one, as Lis thought the grass would be dry at this time of year. Once at GZ, it was a relatively quick find in the most likely location. TFTC

Out with team Gold today (0B80B8 and LisCrew) collecting a few caches in the area. Had pass this cache many times, so it was time to call in and collect. After a short walk and a little hunting we located the cache. TFTC
Team G0LD (Geocachers: 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ) were on a mission today. The primary target was the cache rich Te Rau Puriri Regional Park at South Head. We were aiming to get our final mountain souvenir all done and dusted as well as filling an entire area on our maps with yellow smiles.
We couldn't resist a few quick grabs on the roadside on the way to and from the park. Last one for the day. I'd previously been here but hunted under the flame trees. Obviously my GPS at the time was having trouble and I didn't do data back then. When I'd arrived home I'd noticed I was in the wrong area. It was nice and dry today so that was much nicer than the wet feet I got last time. A quick find today.
Overall it was a very hot day with temps 28-30°C. We only copped a few brief spats of rain and I found 49 caches. My souvenir well and truly achieved. Certainly a pretty lot of smiles too. Thanks for this hide

Seeing a previous dnf we weren't too hopeful of finding this cache but thought we'd stop and have a look anyway. We waded through the long grass which thankfully was dry as I can imagine it would be wet and boggy in winter and arrived at gz. After circling the tree several times and finding nothing I started investigating other items nearby and so pulled away a lot of rambling weed. I then spied something of interest which turned out to be a green plastic bottle but as I went to investigate it I looked down and spied the cache container semi buried on the ground . It was pretty obvious it had been there for a long time as I had to dig it out and I'm sure isn't where it was suppose to be so I replaced it back in a hollow on one of the tree branches and covered it with bark so this should be much easier for the next finders. A very satisfying find of a cache that hasn't been found for nearly 3 years.
After searching for a while.
Merlot found it on the ground.
Has replaced it in a safe position.

Second visit here, 5 years apart, same result. Track is muddy and wet, grass long and tangled, and the tree has collapsed a bit.
Not sure if we took the correct route to this one (we came directly from the road) but if we did then the terrain rating should be 2.5. Cache in good condition.

We abandoned the traverse to GZ at 50m, felt sure we were going to fall in the creek or something worse.
On my way up to Atiu Creek and stopped off here to take a look for the cache. Definitely picked a good time of year to come and get this cache as it was quite dry underfoot which I bet is not the case in winter.
There are lots of places a cache could go here so had to circle the area a couple of times before spotting the cache. Container and logbook are both in excellent condition so no problems here. Replaced as found and picked my way back to the car and on the way again. Thanks for the cache.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We had a couple of jobs to complete yesterday, and unexpectedly stayed the night in nearby Wellsford. Being unprepared was an experience, but we managed nevertheless... We were in the area this April, and were keen to have another shot at the caches along Highway 16, So here we go...
After spotting a previous DNF log, we were determined to nail this one. After some rain, the walk out to the cache was better than expected. The long grass was a minor problem, but we reached ground zone without incident. This is where things went pear shaped... We circled the various sections of the big tree several times, looking high and low as we progressed. The logs didn't help as there were conflicting ideas about which level to find the cache. I began another loop, and Gap came not long after. This time Gap altered his route and found this cunning yet obvious hide. How did we miss that? The container and contents are in great condition. TFTC.

Real goal today was a multi in the area which we missed last time we were here.
Rest of the day was mostly like yesterday with weather and cache finds but great to find caches that have had DNF's against them. SLTFTC

I looked everywhere and was about to PAF to my caching pal, Gorby, be he also DNF'd this one.
pulled in as have been here before with another cache. gate closed and so wondered down to wee wharf soon spied the tree and headed over thru all the long wet grass. cache soon found thx. another interesting place to visit thx.
Wandered down past the gate and then returned to the car for my gumboots. Quick find after wandering through the long grass. TFTC
Glad today was fine and the ground not muddy, but still got wet shoes on my way to GZ. Was not too hard to find. TFTC.
Wet walk to the cache in the rain coupled with long grass, a quick find in a place I suspect may have changed since the cache was placed. I have driven past this area so many times and did not know there was a wharf there. Very likely a nice spot in the summer but not today too wet and mucky.
A bit of a rummage was required to find the container but we got there after about 20 minutes of looking in all the wrong places! Tftc
Heading north today with the intention of enjoying a hike somewhere. Still mulling over the options. Anyway, since I was passing by I thought I would get today's tally started here. I pulled into the parking area and tried to follow the track to GZ but soon realised it was too rough for my wagon. Walked the last little bit through the long grass and over the uneven terrain. Took a few minutes before I turned around and found the cache staring me in the face. Sneaky hide. I remember finding another hide here, closer to the wharf, years back. Anyway, cheers for the cache placement!
I have to say, what a crappy place to have a cache! Rubbish everywhere, mud everywhere, long grass that gets you wet, peoples crap that trips you up and a dead tree that had no cache! Sorry to be so negative but there is nothing attractive about this site.
So glad I brought my boots to this one ! After a short walk I soon noticed a possible tree ,,,, then just a matter of us both searching till cache revealed itself !
Good to have this one sorted !

Really pleased to have the gumboots today. Took a bit of a search and there it was. Tftc.
Lovely spot, shame so many people dump their rubbish here, we did our bit #pickupfive # adventureawaits
After all that rain the water level was high... Tracey (Team Welsh) said I could use her gumboots but I wasn't to get water in them... so managed to do that... but everything got wet in the downpour of rain...who caches in a monsoon??? I guess that's me.
Long grass and me at this time of year don't mix, found the cache but needed a good dose of antihistamine afterwards.

It was time to head back home and I had decided that I had passed this one a few too many times. So it was time to cross it off my to-do list. A nice little walk through the long grass.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
We drove down the short road, and parked next to the wharf. I had my walking boots on, but did not really want to get them too wet or covered in mud. So picked my way to GZ. There is a lot of onion weed about. Near GZ spotted some old trees and tracks caused by 4 wheel drive vehicles off roading! after a short search, and waiting for the GPS to settle, the cache was found. Thanks for the hide.
Home ward bound after a busy caching weekend with Rustynz, cache number 42 so far. Took my friendly moo cow for a country outting Tftc.
Wasn't quite prepared for the all the wet stuff on the way to GZ, though I did have the hiking boots and gaiters in the car. Managed to hop, skip and jump my way to GZ, and temporarily lose my GPS. Stopped hunting for the cache and backtracked to locate the GPS before continuing on my hunt. Took a few minutes before finding the cache nicely tucked away.
Took TB and pathtag. TFTC.

2.20pm. Squelchy underfoot but a great location for a cache. Arriving at GZ there were so so many possies to be investigated but eventually found. Left a TB and a signature pathtag.

Having done Route 66 we thought we might explore the surrounding area and in our travels this one popped up on our GPS - found our way into the Reserve as far as we could by 4wd then took to walking as the ground was very wet !! Made our way to GZ where we started our hunt and after a couple of minutes Stretch0 called out that he had it - when going over to him I could see why he had spotted it Signed log and squelched our way back to the cache wagon - thanks for the cache
Been a long time since i drove around some of the roads in this district and Niteowlnz has never been so a drive about the area was in order . Having a car nav system on board means exploring is even more fun because it can take you home so just drive . This cache popped up on the GPS and having not done one in this part outside Route 66 we decided to give it a go . The 4wd may have been able to handle this but .. what if it didnt and no-one knows we are here so took thee old way and walked into GZ. A bit wet underfoot and the 4wd would have had some fun so walking the better option. GPS pointed in a particular area so once closer i moved about and checked what i considered the more likely places after assesing the surrounding area. Wasn't long beofre i called out that id found it . Nioce hide and another smiley along with another cacher name done TFTC
Had to drop the daughter of the team off nearby to do some filming and as there were gumboots in the car we figured this was a good one to stop and get. No problems at GZ. TFTC
Heading back after doing the Mt Auckland walkway with slieschke - neither of us had found this cache so we stopped for the find. I got the opportunity to reminisce about another cache that was here, and another caching trip (in a very bad storm) that almost ended up with a vehicle in the Kaipara Harbour, if it weren't for a very fortuitously placed stump. Anyway, a very soggy walk to GZ today where it took us a few minutes before one of us was on the right angle to spot the cache. TFTC!!!
Found caching in the area with funkymunkyzone after walking the Mount Auckland Atuanui Walkway. The ground got progressively soggier and muddier as we made our way to GZ but we managed to keep on solid enough ground most of the way in and out
It took a bit of searching about GZ but eventually spotted after looking at things from the right angle. Thanks!

12.45pm. I remember a cache here some years ago. This one took a bit of searching at GZ before we got it. A favourite point for bringing me back to a special scenic spot.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
Was heading home after a full on day at work and decided that I needed to find a cashe to cheer myself up.
This one, on the way home, was a reasonably easy find, took about three minutes once I arrived at GZ.
Happy to have made this stop.
Thanks for the cache.

Great little area for a short break. Didn’t expect to be a STF after this is out since some days . TFTC
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
FTF!!
Was on my way North today and decided to go via SH16 to try for this recent cache. On arrival I wasn't 100% sure of the best approach, but I soon realised that the gravel driveway led down to a parking area and wharf (rather than someone's house!) After a quick stroll to GZ it took a couple of minutes to spot the cache as there are a few potential hiding spots around here! Opened the cache and revealed the blank book for a FTF! Well done on your first cache, a nice spot and hide! TFTC!
