Oh the excitement. Our very first cache. Dang, it appears to be on the other side of the river. A park, a park, my kingdom for a park. Rush, rush, time is running out. Yes, there it is, carefully, carefully, no onlookers........
huh......hmmmmmm....... decode clue. No sign of cache. See photo of where we thought it might be.

Wambot and first daughter remain cacheless, so we planted a couple of our own instead.

Big Grin 2nd cache this morning, just came from Geometry. Lovely time to be up on a Sunday. Even the muggles out rowing looked happy.

Great spot for a cache. Didn't really understand the name but by sheer fluke got to starting co-ords at 0800hrs and oh.. the bells, the bells....

Thanks Biggles Bear for a nice spot to sit. Luckily I knew what a Moreton Bay Fig Tree looks like. Walked past it on the way but glad I went to the start. By the way the start would also be a good place to be between 1230 & 1330hrs as well as the other times mentioned.

PS Wrote over Mind Socket's imprint so as to preserve it for all time. DJ

I attempted this cache precisely 364 days prior, with no luck (cache had vanished). Upon returning to Melbourne for the annual Melbourne Hat frisbee tournament, I set out with friend Toby to log this cache in a spare hour.

Walked straight up to confirm it was there, then used the hacky sack as a diversion while waiting for the coast to clear.

Unfortunately, we were caught without a pen, so I embossed "MS 5/12" on the log using my PDA stylus. Smile I hope it doesn't fade too much.

Found it after entering wrong coordinates into GPS. Lots of people around, Livid festival was on, so had to be extra careful. As usual found ourselves on the wrong side of the river. Thanks for a fun cache.

22-Sep-03
Founnd it once I worked out which way the water flowed.

Plenty of joggers, riders and rowers made retrieving and replacing a little tricky.

Love the spot! It is well worth saving this one until the times recommended. Took Kiwi coin, left Norge coin.

14-Jun-03
Nice cache with a nice view. Attempted this twice, first time was without the cache notes. No surprise in failure because we missed the most important part of the instructions. Left kiwi coin took mexican. Now off to the MCG to see tigers and carlton.

The Morton Bay Figs are obviously a long way from home but at least they improved the river.

11-May-03
Pretty cheeky as a local friend would say. I walked right by it on my way to the coordinates. Asked a passerby what a Morton Bay Fig looked like and they pointed them out to me. Armed with that information, the find was prety easy. Thanks for setting this up.
T-> CCCP Coin L-> Mexican coin

Found at 10:20pm. This cache find was quiet relaxing after the excitement of doing Geometry before hand. On this particular night the river was flowing upstream from the tidal influence. The quiet time of night made this cache a nice easy find. Took US1c coin, left 1Yen and a gold glitter-type snow flake.

First find for the day on a crisp chilly morning. Found with the Shaw family's Melbourne chapter. No swaps made.

12-Apr-03
Another Biggles Bear find, found the location and tree quiet fast. Melbourne Storm had just finished winning their game and a lot of spectators were dribbling past. Managed to locate the cache in between people. Nothing small to swap thanks for another cache.

We must have been lucky because it was in the first tree we looked in. Moomba was on and there were people everywhere. We only hope that the fantastic water skiing display going on behind us was more interesting than two cyclists poking around at a tree!

We didn’t have any coins or a pen, so this log will become the only record of our visit. We got there too late to hear the bells. Have never explored this part of Melbourne since all the building has been done. Will have to come back at a more appropriate time with a pen. (To hear the bells and write in the log.)

Thanks Biggles Bear!

BTW Kate was wondering how you (BB) manage to have placed and visited so many caches? It certainly is impressive.

Attempted this one before leaving Melbourne. The story of Melbourne caches, I started out on the wrong side of the water. Found the initial point. Wasn't sure which was the best direction to get to the river to count the tree from. Tried both ways about three times, but to no avail. The only hidey spot I could see were out of reach, so I eventually had to give up. As I had a plane to catch, I couldn't stay for the 12:30 session.

Merry Xmas !

Thanks biggles bear, a lovely cache, and I learnt something new (as I do each time I do one of your caches !) It seemed fitting to swap my US coin for a russian one (made in the same year I was Wink
Stealth, and speed was called for as the cache is in rather a public location, but I think I pulled it off.. not sure about some of the ppl on the other side of the river...

Thanks

I Returned to where I thought the cache would be, and successfully found the relacement cache at 2.30 on a sunny afternoon. Had to wait a while for a nearby christmas party to finish as well as 2 rowers and a tourist boat on the river to pass. No exchange was made and I don't think my log entry was the clearest eitherit as it was a bit rushed.

Unfortunatley when we checked this cache out today we found that it had gone missing so we have replaced with a new cache container. Sorry to those who visited and missed out on logging a find.

P.S. the cache has no pencil so please bring one along with you.

I think this cache needs checking. I too couldn't find it (after I crossed back over to the right side of the river Red Face) in what seems to be an obvious spot given the cache description and hint.

Bummer, I only had time to try this one whilst in Melbourne. Sad

Searched mid afternoon.

Found the first location with ease. Followed the clues to the river and found a likely looking fig tree down stream. Searched the tree and found a likely looking hidey hole as per the encrypted clue, reached in and found nothing. Searched all the other trees on this stretch of river to no avail.

I'm thinking that this cache may have been removed. It's more than likely that I just couldn't find it though, but thought I would post a log anyway.

Found this one without too much trouble, lunch time isn't the best time of day though with most of Melbourne out Jogging and Walking during their lunch break.

Swaped a Costa Rica $5 for a Korea 10 cents I believe they are worth about the same.

Thanks Biggles Bear

Found the cache after initially setting out on the wrong side of the creek. The sounds coming from the installation told me I was in the wrong place.

The cache was very full so I selected a coin and have posted an image of an unusual foreign coin instead.

Did a dusk raid on this cache on one of my last days in Melbourne (this time round).
As with many caches, I was wondering why on earth the cache was named the way it is... I now know Big Grin
After the show, I made my way to the river, watched the rowing activity and grabbed the micro-cache during a pause in the traffic past the spot. The cache was jam packed, but I managed to extract the log, sign it and repack the cache roughly as I found it (not easy!).
Took nothing - left nothing... left my foreign coins at home...
Replaced the cache in between passing joggers, cyclists & rowers.
Good one Biggles Bear...

Nice spot for a cache. Getting contents back in was hardest part.
Took nothing, left a log entry as had no foreign coins. Thanks BB

An easy find by Ray and Maya (The Nomads) at 2:35PM on a fine and sunny day. We were all set to do a Multi Cache, what happened, did we miss something??? It was supprisingly quiet around the area so we had no difficulty retrieving and replacing the cache. We had no foriegn coins so we did not make a swap. We have not visited this area since the revamp so it was an interresting walk. Thanks for placing the cache. Ray and Maya.

Down from Sydney for 2 days thought I'd grab this cache before my flight home. Didn't turn up when the site was a-peeling. Not many people about at all. Took nothing and left a US Quarter.

Found at 3.35pm. Great location! We used the 'posing for a photograph' technique to retrieve and replace the cache and it worked well. We swapped a US coin for a NZ one. Greg and Bev

[Found at 1210 by Mary & David, our third Biggles Bear cache today! Again, we found the appropriate tree very quickly but had to wait for a lull in the passing walking, jogging and cycling traffic until the retrieval could be carried out. Took an oriental coin and left an Italian 500L coin, which turned out to be a snug fit. More waiting to replace the canister, which was done under the cover of posing by the tree for a photo. Thanks to Biggles Bear for another good one!] If you like finding micro-caches like this one, they abound in Adelaide. If you are over there, try Jailhouse Rock GC4CCF.

Hooray! FTF this cache Smile! Made an early start this morning, so parking was easy. Unfortunately, didn't put enough money in the meter, so it was a mad run to the location - then desperate searching in the nearby trees. What does a Moreton Bay Fig look like... let alone which direction is downstream?? Very obvious to me now of course! Found the cache easily at 1025 - left a 50 lira coin but didn't take anything. Must have taken a long time to sharpen the pencils down to that size! Fabulous location, but not really sure about the recommended visiting times - does something special happen then? Guess I'll have to keep watching!

I found this cache at around 11:55 this morning. Now I understand why the best time to visit is 8-9 am and 5-6pm. - not the reason I had guessed.

Someone else had beaten me to it - (You've got to be quick to get in first!). I left my shortest ever message in the enclosed log (with the worlds smallest pencil which was provided), but made no exchange.
