I came to visit the club for the first time, to find this cache. As with others before me, I found the sign gone, and a night of research awaiting me. It was nice to learn a little more about the local area. I particularly enjoyed finding some bathymetric charts and getting to know the lakes a little better... Imagine... 6000 years of silt, and lots of stories buried beneath, I would imagine! Thanks bella for placing this EarthCache!
Found by The EmpireWe were in Newcastle to watch Melbourne Ice smash the Newcastle Northstars last night, now on our way to Sydney for the rest of the double header weekend we were making the most of the journey south. The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as we drove towards Belmont, nestled along the picturesque shores of Lake Macquarie. Before heading to the club, we decided to stop by a cozy caf in Belmont. The caf was buzzing with early morning activity, filled with the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked pastries. We ordered batch brew coffee and warm croissant cookies. The coffee was rich and smooth, providing the perfect caffeine kick to start our day, while the croissant cookies were a delightful mix of buttery flakiness and sweet filling. As we approached the earthcache, the gleaming masts of the sailboats anchored at the marina came into view, casting long shadows on the tranquil water. Walking through the entrance, we were greeted by the sight of the club's impressive facilities. The spacious clubhouse featured large windows offering panoramic views of the lake, where the morning sun danced on the gentle waves. A photos and we were on our back south Thanks for the earthcache bella at waggy. Answers sent.-M
Sent answers today. I was the club yesterday for a WRAAC luncheon. the sign has gone due to the renovation. I had to do a lot of googling learnt heaps. It was a beautiful day to view the lake from here.
Caching around Lake Macquarie this weekend. Missed out on this one last time as the club was closed early in the morning. Today lunchtime and hungry I went in and got very close to GZ, unfortunately no sign to find, but great views over the lake and time to google while having lunch.TFTC Wilbert67
Been here a couple of times before with Geoian, but still no sign. Thought this would be a good day to attend for International Earth Cache Day. Such a lovely piece of Lake Macquarie. As others have said, there are other ways to get the answers. TFTEC.

I gave up the first time because I couldn’t access the sign, but realized months later that it was able to be completed by other means (should have read the log!).
Thanks for this cache - I’d been here many times, but had never considered the depth of the water!

TFTEC.I love coming to Lake Macquarie. I grew up at Warners Bay but live up the Valley now. I had my wedding reception in the club in 1982. So many memories around this area. I often come here and just walk along the foreshore. I chuckle at the house across the road with all the gnomes.
This was a fun find as I had to talk to a huddle of local sailors who were launching a training boat ?? They gave me what I needed to complete the Earthcache.
Then relaxed and enjoyed the scenery Must be nice to live at the lake Heaps of Black swans around the foreshore

We were staying very close to the club as our youngest daughter moved to Belmont at the beginning of this year. We have visited the area twice and are going again soon for our granddaughter's birthday. The club has been going through extensive renovations and having explored it quite thoroughly I am indeed impressed. What a lovely location. We learned so much while locating the information for this Earthcache and will share a couple of additional items of interest to us:
1/ Lake Macquarie is the largest saltwater lake in the southern hemisphere.
2/ It is about twice the size of Sydney Harbour. (Now that really surprised me!!)
Many thanks to Bella at waggy for having us do some worthwhile research while investingating answers to the Earthcache questions. A favourite point for our enjoyment in learning so much about an area where members of our family are now living.
Our answers have been sent to the CO and we are hoping they meet with their approval and our log doesn't disappear.
Cheers and happy caching!

We are staying just a couple of hundred metres from this Earth cache and beautiful location.
When we arrived for the start of our walk at GZ, we were so disappointed to see that the information board is no longer there. Hopefully when the renovations are finished, it can be replaced and this will be good to go again.
In the meantime, the Domsky Duo, decided to be resourceful and went to Google to answer as many questions as possible. Hopefully we didn’t do too badly.
We have sent out answers and some photos to the CO, and hope that our science/geology research here will hold up.
Thanks bella at waggy
An awesome location to highlight through this EC

We visited the Belmont 16’s Club to do this E/C twice, but both times we were thwarted by the area being blocked off due to renovations. However the second time we stayed for Sunday lunch, so we did have a win.
After contacting the CO with answers to the questions we had obtained despite the Reno’s she gave us permission to log. It’s a lovely area, and we learned some interesting facts about Lake Macquarie doing our research.
Thanks for showing us a great place, which we think will be even better once the full balcony is reopened

Mrs Oz KEG and I visited the central coast for the long weekend. After negotiating entry to the club, I was escorted to the sign where I collected the required data and was escorted back out again. An interesting experience but goal was achieved and CO provided permission to log. Thanks for the lesson on Lake MacQuarie and TFTC waggy.
I found lots of caches on a roadtrip holiday up to Byron Bay. Over the course of the week, I targeted a variety of caches that worked towards different statistic-based goals. Thanks to all the Cache Owners for their contributions to this fantastic recreational activity.

On passing by today we stopped off to undertake this Earthcache. We soon gained entry into the club after having signed in as temporary members and then we made our way towards Ground Zero. We made our Field Notes and have subsequently submitted our answers to the CO. Thanks so much for the Earthcache at this very nice location and greetings from Zimbabwe
Completed this Earth Cache with Beary_Unicorns, very interesting learning some facts about Lake Mac, it is a beautiful part of our wonderful area here in the Hunter. Thanks for the Earth Cache.
Still pretty new at Geocaching so this is our first Earthcache. We live nearby and often visit this club, so it was interesting to read the sign and fun to answer the questions! I hadn't even realised there was a sign out there, though hubby knew it from taking our 3 year old granddaughter for walks out the back when she got bored and fidgety inside! Thanks for the cache and the interesting info about our beautiful lake!

In the area grabbing a few caches and decided to do this earth cache as well while I was here, Some muggles were sitting right at GZ so I quickly snapped a photo of the information with my phone and came home to log the answers, which I have sent to the CO . While visiting Newcastle recently we stopped by this EC
Bill Had dropped me at the club & he continued on his bike ride. I signed into the club as a visitor then made my way around the deck untill I found the required location. Very quiet out on the verandah so I was able to collect the information needed, while those inside played bingo.
Bird poo on the sign was at the exact spot I needed for some information.
Left without stopping for any socializing drinks.

I was up at the Belmont 16ft Skiff Club for dinner tonight. I checked the GeoApp and saw there was an earthcache nearby then realised the EC was accessed from the club itself. I then looked to see who the CO is and what do you know, it's one of my geomates!!
I absolutely love Lake Macquarie. My very first geocache hide was at Gwandalan. I used to do a lot of recreational sailing on the lake but a few years ago I sold my Cole 23 as I wasn't using it. You see, I discovered geocaching!!!
This was a very enjoyable earthcache to complete and I thank Bella at Waggy for setting it up.

We had tickets to go to the seniors concert today, and when it finished we headed to GZ to gather most of the information. What a nice EC to do with friends in a beautiful area.
What a nice little get away.....I needed some R&R and so decided to head across the border from SA to Victoria and then NSW to attend the OzGeoMuster Mega with friends.
I mainly hung out with the lovely micaparamedic and the fabulous ChooknChunk and I also enjoyed many happy moments with others.
Some of the stand out moments included: camping in Belanglo State Forest and doing a night cache at 1am; 4wding and having water over the car bonnet; sitting around and chatting/chilling; sleeping loads; relaxing continuously and then watching some fab fireworks (thanks Team Crackers), and all in all a much needed break. Gary and I slowly made our way back to Bendigo before heading back to Adelaide.
Thanks so much for the earthcache bella at waggy!

I headed out with Joolay today with the aim to help her achieve as many cache types in a day as she could. We decided this would be a good EC to do between the CITO and the Farewell event. The Club staff were very helpful and we soon had information gathered and were on our way. I will email answers to the CO soon. Many thanks for this cache !
This was the last in our 12 for a day! So we celebrated! Answers sent and permission received lickerty split which is amazing over such a busy Geocaching weekend!
Teamed up with The Rats to tackle the back half of the Mega Oz GeoMuster event based in Morriset. We ventured up very early on Sunday morning and popped into the event before heading right up to the old Frying Pan cache. Then it was back around Maitland, Kurri Kurri, down around the bottom of Lake Macquarie and into the event, followed by some night caching in Newcastle. Monday it was a couple of events, many different cache types and homewards. TFTC!
It was a very hot day & a cool drink in the air conditioned Sailing club was enough inducement to have a go at this one with m4yb & megawat60. We did our best & sent the answers to CO. TFTC

As part of a shortened Easter caching weekend, steeba and the Rats headed north to be part of the Geomuster mega weekend around the Lake Macquarie area. Traveling as far north as Frying Pan ck and down south to Doyalson we managed to find a good splattering of caches, including a new personal record of most types in a day.
Thanks to all the CO's for placing the caches, the interesteing locations and cache containers contributed to our great weekend.
This was a big day which started at dawn as we set about claiming our 12 types in a day. Steeba has sent the answers to the CO

What a splendid way to solve an earth cache, only problem was we hadn't read the description well beforehand so did not really make the best use of the admittance to the club, thanks to Mr PP2 for a most enjoyable ale.
Thoroughly enjoyed solving this as we enjoyed the views, answers sent to CO and I think a fav for the info and the spot.

The eightieth find for the day. This earthcache was one of our goals for the trip but we were worried we were underdressed for the collection of it. I spotted this cache prior to our migration to Morisset for the Geomuster, and decided that it could be a cool cache to come out and find! The fact that it was inside a club interested me, because that is very rare for an Earthcache!
After rocking up at the sign-in desk we realised we had left our ID in the car so had to return and go grab it.
Once we were signed in we heading towards the balcony and found the info sign that was required to answer the questions. We answered most of the questions easily however one of them gave us a bit of grief so after some wandering and discussion we settled on an answer.

So finally, after 5 weeks of torture I have hit the mid semester break for Monash University. And luck for me that it coinsides the Geomuster this year, so after working hard over the holidays I was able to put some money aside for my 4th mega event. Arriving to Newcastle Airport late on the 30th I only had a couple days off before heading home on the tuesday morning. Meeting lots of familiar faces and meeting many new faces was a major part of my first mega out of my home state. Eitherway with lots of caches done this weekend and not enough time to write up detailed logs for all of them (mainly due to my 3 3000 word geology reports due after my week break). But eitherway thanks for the caches/ event I had an absolutely amazing weekend this weekend and cannot wait for my next trip to the beautiful NSW and especially the astounding Lake Macquarie area.
Very leisurely Earthcache , The sailing club is the way to go. Enjoyed this very much and learnt a lot about the Lake . TFTC

Tossing up heading back to the Mega GZ for dinner with friends or back to my accommodation for an early night, made one quick detour here to grab a cool drink and tick off an earthcache before deciding. Ended up passing on the hour+ return drive to the showground in favour of what turned out to be a few more hours caching locally on my own. In hindsight, dinner and more drinks with this view would have been a better compromise. Answers sent to CO.
Called by here on my way from the Mega to today's flash mob event at Kahibah and had no problems gathering the information required to log this cache, which I will message to you soon.
It would have been nice to stick around and partake of the hospitality that this establishment offers, but no time as I was on a mission ... to collect as many cache types in a day that I could. I ended up with 10, thwarted from getting the maximum number by the lack of a webcam cache in the region and Groundspeak's refusal to allow a CITO to be held during the Mega.

On the way back we stopped off in Belmont for a cool drink and noticed this nearby earthcache. Making our way to GZ we gathered all of the needed information in order to answer the questions. Unfortunately a bit too windy on the lake this afternoon for any sailing. Answers to questions sent and posting with permission - thanks b@w for the quick response.
The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust) & Vanlith The Youngling.

Hi there bella at waggy.
We found your cache **"Big Mac"** at 11:17:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 17403).
Today we cached around Lake Belmont. We found 5 caches in a variety of container types and sizes today (& DNF'd 1). Thank you for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places to visit on our nomadic wander around Australia.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

AMTG of the OUTLAW CACHERS strikes again. Had the best trip ever with IXF to this awesome country. The people are the friendliest folks I have ever met and there is sooooo little litter!
We had to ask several folks info about Q4!
Thanks so much for making my trip wonderful!

We had several opportunities to have stopped here for this one, but this morning was finally the time to come here. Unfortunately we have to wait 20 minutes for the facility to open to the public. We approached GZ and gathered our information then appreciated the view for a few extra moments before heading on.

Day 5: Newcastle to Canberra to Goulburn
I was hoping to get all the way back to Sydney tonight but as the day waned on I decided that Goulburn would be our end-of-day. It was a good choice too as we got to stay in a really old building (though the wifi was useless!). The motel was also quite close to the Soldier's Club so we had a decent meal and entertainment for the night.
We saw a lot of cool things again today, though quite different than each other day. The road to Canberra and all the farmlands was quite a sight considering the forested and mountain roads we have been traveling through.

Adventure Log:
What better way to spend vacation than traveling as far away from home as possible[?] When AMTG asked me a few months ago where I would like to go, Australia was the most auspicious target. While Perth would have put me 11000mi from home, Sydney was certainly sufficient. [8].
We only had a limited number of days, so I built a route allowing us to visit Brisbane, Canberra, and Sydney within our 6 days. This, of course, meant quite a bit of driving [8)]. This whirlwind tour afforded us many wonderful vistas along the coast, in the 'mountains', and through the countryside.
We couldn't have asked for better weather and were only hindered by rain on our last evening in Sydney. And by hindered, I mean that the rain and traffic made me late for (miss) my own event at the Opera Hall [xx(].
In our 6 days, we covered over 2400km [^] and managed to find 76 caches, comprised of 60 Traditional, 8 Earthcache, 4 Virtual, 1 Multi, 1, Mystery, 1 Letterbox, and 1 Event.

After a particularly bad week of ocular disasters, I needed to do a cache today to cheer me up (after all it is my birthday), and figured an earth cache would be good, I should be able to find it with one working eye!
We dropped in here once before after doing some nearby caches, but after reading the description decided to pass, as we were in a bit of a sweaty mess at the time....
So today, with a driver secured, we got to GZ, and entered the club. Would be a nice spot to come for a meal one day.... We found the required info without an issues, and headed off to another nearby earthcache.
Answers sent to CO via email....

This was a really interesting view of the lake. I will definitely come back for a meal and a drink one day.
Got the all clear to log this one, my very first Earth Cache
I really enjoy these, they feel like little projects which I love! TFTC! It's a shame we didn't have time to stop for lunch, it smelled so good in there!

We enjoyed coming here as we used to live nearby. The club has changed heaps since then. Big Mac was beautiful as always. We've sent our answers to the CO. TFTC.
Caching today with Kamfindit and we wanted a drink so this was a great place to stop for that and also a drink. Logging with permission from the owner TFTC
A pleasant Sunday morning breakfast at the 16 footers and an equally as pleasant view from the deck where the answers to the first 3 questions were found. A bit of research and a rapid answer from the CO and we have a smiley! I grew up with a view of Lake Mac from my bedroom window and have always loved it. Thanks for the Cache and the info bella at waggy.
After visiting our friends' new family, I got my wife to detour to this cache. I had done some research, so knew what I would be looking for, so my wife and son stayed in the car, while I raced in for a quick lesson. I got the info (as photos) and we were soon on our way. I still needed to look up one thing and that proved a bit difficult to find, but got there. The answers have since been sent off.
Thanks for the interesting information and earthcache!

With kind permission from the "CO" I can now log it after learning a bit about the lake and visiting the "16Ftrs". Great club and great cache with a difference.
Thanks bella at waggy for setting it up and info supplied.

I haven't been here for many years and never out on the deck. Thanks for the earth cache.

Out for a walk on a nice sunny day and after doing another nearby cache stopped in here to look at this earth cache. I have been a member of this club for a couple of years now use it as a meeting point for a friend it is about half way between our houses and I have never looked at the map for a geocache how strange anyway today was a good time. After retrieving the required information for the cache and sending the required email the deed is done.

We visited this spot this morning to get the information. It was a speccy day. Thanks for teaching us more about this lake and for bring in us here today bella at waggy. Caching with McLookers.
It was a beautiful day today when we visited GZ. What interesting information and what a huge lake that is an asset to the community. We enjoyed the information we learned today bella at waggy, thank you.
Caching today from Belmont to Sydney with Tomstache who was chasing 7 container sizes in one day for a challenge in Victoria. And I am happy to say: mission accomplished!

Did this a few weeks ago but not logging until today as I have been saving a few puzzles/earth caches up for days when life gets in the way and I can't maintain my streak. This is one of the few caches left within a 10km drive of my place. Bugger. Will have to go further now even on rainy days to keep the target of 150 days in a row alive. Love the view out the back here. Better when I am in my tinny out on the water though. E-mail sent. TFTC will upload photo too.
That was a thing, the man at the reception was going with me to show the sign.
Interesting Point
Thanks.
