This has been our favourite cache right from the beginning, however, the location has been compromised with the container being muggled twice. RIP.
Our favourite cache has gone missing. Will hopefully replace it soon, as long as the appropriate materials are available...
Tricky find early this evening with eltee291! That is really cool! Very well set up. A favorite for sure! Signed the log and replaced as found. Visiting from Victoria, BC, Canada! Thanks for the cache!
Found today with hingis20. We have seen some like this on a stay in Arizona and I thought they were amazing caches. This one is perfect - no wonder there are so many DNFs. A fave for me. We are on vacation from Victoria, BC, Canada and today we are traveling to Wellington with an overnight stay in Palmerston North. Geocaching and beautiful scenery - can't get any better. TFTC
This cache was attempted as part of the Palmerston North leg of our "Road to 6,000" Extravaganza for 2016.
Too tricky for us!
Too tricky for us!
3rd cache ever, however didn't find it, looked really hard, but will head back in a couple of days to try again.
Foiled by muggles the first time then a walker got a wee break but no joy. Lots of broken glass. Then the next teenagers arrived so have to give this a miss especially as its had a few dnfs recently.
Not much luck here. Found the perfect hidey hole but nothing there. Oh well, onward it is.
After failing to find this a few weeks back we tried again in daylight this time. This time it was quick! We re-read the hint, I spotted something, and BINGO! There's the cache. Very crafty! Love sneaky hides like this Thanks!
Doing a few caches with the boys during school holidays - starting to run out in our area so visiting other districts - spotted this one before the boys so one for mum! Tftc
We attempted this one in the dark, by torch light. Obviously not a good idea as we turned up nothing. We'll be back!!
Love this one! Have found a few similar ones in Hawke's Bay but they haven't ever really stuck around for long. Very clever. TFTC
I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.
Today I joined forces with yorkshirekiwi83 for a full day of caching before an event in the city tonight. We picked up a few caches around the city first, then drove down towards Opiki collecting caches down some of the side roads as we went, then headed across to do the KAS Power Trail, before going up to do the caches around Ohakea then headed back to Palmerston North. After a short search here, we came across this very nicely hidden cache. TFTC, favourite point added!

Vistra and I headed down to Manawatu as the KAS trail has been bugging me in its incomplete form, as we both needed numbers for personal goals it seemed like a good opportunity. Thanks to the cache owners for all the caches and the variety, over 2 days I found over 200 caches, so thank you for placing and maintaining them.
Most were quick easy finds, although there were some very clever ones and some well thought out. TFTC

More nifty cache engineering going on here. I'm admiring your ingenuity, as well as your sheer cheek and bravado. Can this one last I asked myself. I suppose so, yes. Which is a commentary somewhat on how we expect to find the world, the urban world at least, in these times.
Happy to make a straightforward find after some judicious looking and thinking.
Cache in order; log signed, then safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

Second time looking for this. After reading some previous logs, got a clue and then found it. Nice hide. TFTC
Very cool cache, after searching for a while we kicked ourselves when realising where it was!
Another couple of caches to stretch the legs then I must head home. Parked up down the road and walked back to GZ where I made a quick search of a couple of items then saw something that looked similar to a couple of other caches I have found so just had to take a look. Good thing as it was the cache. Wandered away to do the paperwork then returned the cache to its spot with not a muggle to be seen here today, which was helpful!
Nice job on the camo and the contruction so gets a FP from me, a great example of a hidden in plain sight cache. Thanks for the placement Z1mbos.

A clever little hide- was first thing we spotted but thought nah and had a bit of a look around before returning to retrieve. Thanks for the cache was tricky to write on as waterproof paper was wet.
Another we visited due to its high FP count, and well deserved. Figured out what to look for, as had tried the same thing in Taranaki but couldn't find a suitable adhesive. TFT Clever Cache
clever hide, walked all around it, Grandie was getting tichie so we were about to leave when there it was.
What a sneaky hide I bet this cache can tell some stories great cache and well thought out .It was full of water so dried it out as best possible signed and made sure the lid was tight to try and seal gets lots of smiles from me
this one nearly had is, someone was getting grumpy and scuffed his foot and would you read of it found it

Arriving at Palmerston North airport and travelling to Levin thought would make a quick stop on the way to attempt this cache. At GZ there were a couple of muggles out walking so had to look at the over flying helicopter as a disguise. The gate was open as it appeared the council was mowing the grass in this area and was concerned the the freshly cut grass may make the find more difficult. Was walking all around with the phone pointing me everywhere. Was concerned that I looked to suspicious so took a rest against the congrete wall. Then I spied something..... surely that can't be it.... well bugger me it was!!!!! We have a similar hide but nowhere as nicely executed as this.
Signed the log and returned. Am writing log in car and it's like Grand Central Station with more muggles walking past all the time. Looks like I picked the right time to make my attempt.
Gets a fav from me.

I think this is one of our favorite hides so far. Had to "tie my shoelace" to grab it thanks for the muggles. Was about to head off when something a little outta place caught my eye. If we were premium members this would definitely get a FP. Log was wet but intact. TFTC
Had passed by previously for a quick look while son was sleeping in the car. Today I had more time for a proper look & spotted the hide straight away - not something that happens to me too often. Very cool & deserves a FP. TFTC
A nice Park and grab, was dubious since a read messages prior, but jesserfly went and retrieved it as we approuched gz

Out caching in PN while hubby had an appointment in town. had a tour guide. We thought it had gone but it was there after all. Thankyou Haydnseek .Its so much quicker with someone who knows their way around. TFTC
OMG. This took a very long time ⌚. Awesome hide the best I have seen. Love this type of in the open caches. Deserves a favorite vote I think. TFTC BH
This one took me a few minutes to find. After a first survey of the area, I had no idea where it might be. My GPSr seemed insistent that I check a particular spot so I did with no expectation at all of finding the cache there. What a wonderful surprise.
Brilliant….. a very tricky hide, took a bit of looking until we twigged. Nice one, thanks again for another cleverly camoed cache.
Wicked cache....kids loved it, lots of effort shown and well disguised. I have no fp's to give but will when I get some.
Nice hide, worthy of a favourite - nice to get a few in the series as well, TFTC Z1mbos, #7570
Nice hide

After reading a few of the previous logs we thought we may have a bit of a challenge on our hands with this cache however all the stars must have been aligned for me or something today as I spotted this very clever little hide straight away. This made my day as I usually end up spending days looking for these "in plain sight" type of hides. Very cleverly constructed, good little container, great effort all round, gets a FP from me. SLTFTC
Yes! Returned for second attempt this morning and went straight to it, with GPS still saying I was 8m away... like others have said it suddenly makes sense! Thanks Z1mbos [:o)]
Had attempted this one a few weeks back but the fading light and drizzle meant that the search was brief and unfruitful. Returned today in better light and after a few moments pondering the hint had an 'aha' moment. A very clever hide in plain sight and worthy of a FP from us. TFTC.
Ckever, clever! I always enjoy the " in plain sight " caches. Scratched around a bit first in other places before noticing something that made sense of the hint. TFTC
Its plain to see why its a favourite! Great hide and a helpful hint, but still unexpected find. Another favourite. Thanks Zimbos.
Posting a DNF on this one so that future newbies like me know it's not that straightforward! I was at GZ for over 10mins this morning and didn't find it. I must admit I don't do much clearing away of grasses during hay fever season as even a few minutes here had me in tears… and I read the previous logs that it is hidden in plain sight… so I will return with fresh eyes another time
Lovely sunny day in Palmy and a few last caches to find this year to hit 500. Great hide...almost had me but my muggle friend who is proving quite good at spotting hides got this one too. TFTC
#910 Unlike the others I had not seen one like this before so it had me scratching my head for a while. Then I thought... Deserves a favourite since it was my first of this type. TFTC
Decided it was about time to start knocking off the "Watergate series", starting with two today.
Nice & quite around GZ today.
Love this hide - definitely deserves another favourite point. Thanks Z1mbos

The last one I found today before I ran out of time. I actually went over time a little. I've found a couple like this before, the first one took me ages, still took me a weeny while today before the light came on. Some excellent hides. I'm looking forward to a return visit to look for some more. Cheers and TFTC
i really love the effort that some people put into their containers. favorite point from me.
Loved this one a fav. point I saw the first one like this in Lower hutt several years ago and thought just how clever thay are Thanks I have now completed this little group....
Clever little cache spotted very quickly as i have seen a photo of a similar one.
Found on a >41 hour non-stop geo roadtrip from Wellington to Auckland via Cape Palliser and a whole bunch of skinny winding Wairarapa roads, in the esteemed company of slieschke, mike-miss and cretti. We picked up our rental car, dubbed the Idiot Box, and assumed our new identity as Team CRT, shortly after 8am at Wellington Airport and headed north.
We first headed to Porirua Harbour to take on the resident Kiwi geo art trail before heading over to the southern Wairarapa and Cape Palliser where we visited the light house at about midnight and tried our best to avoid seals while searching for a few caches along the southern most shore line of the North Island.
We headed up past Greytown and Carterton, focussing on caching areas west of SH2 this trip. There were some highlight caches, particularly around Carterton (I think) and some way up in the hills looking over the whole area from Masterton to Martinborough.
It was daylight again by the time we hit Masterton and we decided to hit fast forward and skip a planned area (will just have to come back again!) and shot through to Palmerston North where we got back into the swing of things.
We took the back-road up to Mangaweka, discovering some really fanstastic little places along the way, like a picnic area and waterfall way down in a canyon, and then we continued via Taihape, across and up through Owhango, to get some really old caches, and then north through Te Awamutu and back to Auckland to drop off the Idiot Box at the airport.
And of course, despite it then being after 1am on Monday morning, and raining kinda heavily, slieschke and I couldn't resist driving over to the North Shore for an FTF on a cache published earlier in the evening.
Thanks to all the cache owners along the way, even if we couldn't find your cache - all part of the adventure! Sorry for the copy/paste log, but just too many caches to remember *all* of them individually.
Nicely done! TFTC!!!

A plan was hatched for yet another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend from Wellington to Auckland. This time, Cretti and slieschke joined in on what turned out to be another epic road trip with myself and funkymunkyzone (our third trip this year).
We all met up at Wellington Saturday morning as i ended up being on an earlier flight to the rest of the crew. Jumped in our rental which happened to be a Ssangyong SUV this time round and headed straight to Porirua Harbour to hit the Kiwi GeoTrail. From there on, we zig zagged our way through Wiararapa to Cape Palliser, back up through Martinborough, Masterton, Ekatahuna, Pahiatua, Palmerston North, Taihape, Te Awamutu and back home to Auckland in the early hours of Monday morning.
To save time and log space, we stamped the logs as "Team CRT" travelling in the idiot box for the weekend. Lots of laughs were had over our 1500km+ / 41 hour road trip which consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure.
Very nicely done! A great use of an available area, fav point added - TFTC!

Found in the company of Cretti, funkymunkyzone and mike-miss on a crazy Wellington to Auckland road trip in the idiot box. We traveled via the Kiwi GeoTrail in Porirua, the Wairarapa including Cape Palliser, the Manawatu, and back to Auckland via the western side of the Central Plateau. Signed as Team CRT. Despite very little sleep the weekend was a blast!
Had us stumped searching all about GZ. PAF but they couldn't rememeber the find at which point I spotted the sneaky urban hide
Thanks!

Continuing my bike ride along the Watergate series. Again good to have a bike to lean here and there to cover my hunting (even if I was wearing a bright orange jacket). There really didn't seem to be many hiding places here, until ... ha ha! Yet another ingenious Z1mbos hide
Up for a caching expedition in the Manuwatu. Bit of a search on this one and had me puzzled. What another great hide and gets a fav from me. TFTC
Took a few minutes to spot this one - nicely done and good use of an available spot.
I love this type of cache and this is a particularly well executed one..great work!Great to meet you both at the events today..what a great day!And thanks for the cache!!
