20 June 2024 5:08pmLast one for me today - not too far off from where I was, so why not go for it.In the fading light I spent more time than I needed second guessing myself. This little one was right where I originally thought it would be, but didn't look at.I didn't see Emily today, or any of her friends.I did however keep bumping into a girl who had a lot more energy than I - running up and down the path. When I left she said she was on her 4th lap of 7 in a competition she was in. With a quick good luck sent her way, I headed on home.

A nice rainy morning and I decided to finish off the last few caches around Mt Gravatt. I took a short walk down from the summit to this cache. It took me a bit of searching to finally find the well hidden cache. Nice one Eatmorchikin!

Today we walked all over Mt Gravatt on all the different trails, up and down many hills finding all the caches. What awesome views of the surrounding city and city areas. TFTC

Thank you very much for luring us here as well as for hiding and maintaining the cache !....../ ).....' /---' (_____.TFTC . About two years ago, we came a found a single cache on Mt Gravatt and in that log we said we would have to come back and explore the trails another day. Well that day finally came and we parked near to Snap To It before descending, then ascending, then descending in a different direction and ascending once more to arrive back at the car. A most enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours this morning. After pausing to take in the views at the lookout, we continued uphill to search for this cache. Despite the popularity of the trails this morning, there was no one in the vicinity as we hunted. With a number of potential hides available, it took us some time to lay our hands on this one, with Mr DisSister having success in an area only inches from where I had previously been looking. Thanks eatmorchikin

13-Aug-23
Having dropped my son to school so he could work on some project or another, I took the opportunity to grab some exercise on the south side of the river with a quick walk up Mt Gravatt.

For the middle of Winter, it was surprisingly hot today. The lady at the café at the top even took pity on me and offered me a free water., when I bought a cold drink.

This cache provided the opportunity to stop for a minute and catch my breath. had a bit of a poke around as per the hint and soon enough I uncovered the prize. All in good order here.

Many thanks Eloise and EMC

Another morning catchup with friends while enjoying the sunshine and view at this Lookout. Decided to take the walk to this cache before heading home. Came from the top entry from the road and made my way down to GZ where the first place I searched and there was the cache container.

With my name in the log, I made my way back to the road (stopping a few times to catch my breath) and my car.

7/6/2023 Find #6151
SaintsMadHouse and I were on one of our usual days of Wednesday Madness. We decided to tackle a few caches around this neck of the woods today, and with the first cache of the day done, we decided to park a little closer to this one and make our way along and up. At GZ it took a little bit of a search around the likely item before I noticed something possible. Ahhh that’s it! Another sneaky hide from this CO.
Thanks for the cache eatmorchikin.

A quick detour on my way back to my car. Cache quickly found. A very nifty hide TFTC

18-Feb-23
I came to this eastern side of Mt Gravatt today with my main aim being to find a cache starting with E, for a February challenge, of which there are a couple that I hadn’t found. I did about a 5.5km walk finding 4 caches before it got too hot. Outer has deteriorated as has the plastic bag which I replaced. Logbook is in great condition though. Tftc

08-Oct-22
This cache needs maintenance. The log is still fine, but the plastic bag is all ripped off and there is no lids in the container so it may go bad at the next big rain

Another quick find on one of the many pleasant tracks around here. Charlicorn1500 spotted this one under the camo. TFTC!

Caching before the event picking up some caches in the area.

Travelling and caching with RoddyC grannysmith1947 and Imbunda.

Found but this cache needs a little TLC. Managed to add a new log sheet but did not have a plastic bag. The outer case has also deteriated and so needs replacing.

Found it eventually. Good hide but desperately needs repairs.

19-Feb-22
Making our way around Mt Gravatt Mountain with chamad on a very hot and humid day, it was time to visit Emily.
I found what was once a fantastic cache, however, white ants have damaged the container, making the home for the log open to water. The log was damp and torn and very difficult to sign.
Thanks Eatmorchickin and our Eloise for the cache.

Being in one of the worst lockdowns so far. This is the first time my workplace has completely closed. Taking advantage of living next to the showgrounds and needing to fill my calendar grid. I got a workout in and a cache all at the same time. I'm also becoming very enthused about fungi. There was a few to find right near this cache. I made sure my hands were clean before and after writing on this cache. Thank you for my no income week and a chance to do some cleaning and working out. Thank you. X.

Gave myself an hour to climb Mount Gravatt and as a bonus pick up some caches. My walk from Gertrude Petty place, along the Federation Track, down toward Logan Rd to get Edwin and then straight up the hill took about 1:15 but only 15 mins down via the shorter return path. There were a lot of track closures as council is doing a fair bit of resurfacing and rehabilitation along that path, I didn’t see the signs the way I went, but I did notice on the way back.
Emily was my last cache of the day. I was a bit nervous about crossing the road and getting onto this path, but with the exception of some tall grass at the top it is well defined. Close to GZ there were a few likely looking spots that fit, the clue. But looking inside one with my torchlight soon revealed the cache. It was very damp, but still managed to coax it from it’s hiding place.
Then on to the summit and a much swifter descent down the mountain!

This evening, I decided to target Mount Gravatt lookout and the caches in that reserve/area. I was predominantly targeting one of the Locations of *Hills on the Southside* Adventure Lab, but it was also nice to be geocaching on foot, rather than driving around. A great lookout, and I really enjoyed the caves that were hidden away.

I parked halfway down the hill, and then jogged up the track to arrive at GZ, just as light was beginning to fade. It took a few minutes to locate this cache, and it was another well constructed and camouflaged cache. Unfortunately white ants have taken over the outer cache and infested the inside with eggs. It took a little effort in finding a way into the logbook extraction, but eventually I got there, to at least see that the logbook was in good shape. Thanks Eatmorchikin and Eloise for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

After work this afternoon it was time to grab a few caches in the area, and with several "E" caches I wasn't sure which one to grab, in the end I settled for this one because there was a Muggle right on top of GZ at the one further up the road, I tried waiting him out, but he was too busy doing stuff on his laptop, so that's when I decided to venture to the next closest one.

After a short walk along the trail I arrived at GZ and started searching for the cache, after several minutes the sneaky cache was finally in hand, signed and replaced as found, now to continue walking down the trail to check out the Earthcaches and the oldie.

After our walk around toohey forest it was time to grab a few others in the area. I had promised the girls a view from a lookout so up to Mt. Gravatt for a scenic drive. On the way down it was time to grab some caches. This was a fun cache and Charli was a little hesitant of climbing around due to her scare at the last cache. We found the cache easily and soon had the log in hand, lots of swaps in here but nothing of interest for us.
With log signed and cache replaced as found we were onto the next one down the road, thank you for placing this one here.

Tilly the wonder and I loved the path up here. We had it all to ourselves, which made for easy searching. This is a really well constructed cache, thank you. Everything here is ticketyboo. Replaced as found. TFTC

No one walking along the rocky path up to GZ, though. Had the area all to myself so I didn’t have to look with any stealth. Crafty container!

**The day**
While muggle daughter and husband looked to buy a car at the nearby sales yards I decided to walk up and around Mt Gravatt for exercise. As usual I allowed caches to determine the trail and took my time enjoying the bushland. I eventually returned home to muggle daughter's place on Invermore Street after walking just over 10 km with a total ascent/descent of 333m over a 5 hour period. At least 2hrs of this time was looking for caches ie going around in circles - lol.

Out for the day with nikid1 finding some caches on Mt Gravatt. Well we bush bashed our way into this one from where we had parked only to find the lovely path right near the cache when we arrived at GZ - ah well we had a pleasant walk back to the car! Great cache container.

A quick find here, with no disturbance of the environment required as suggested in the previous post. My only trouble was with the nicely crafted container, as the log had worked its way well down into its hidey hole, and it took a few minutes of using a gentle rocking technique to extract it. (At first I thought the actual container was missing.) All good in the end, and I placed the stopper back more gently at the top in the hope that it stays there for easier access to the log. Nice one, eatmorechikin and Eloise – thanks!

Too many options for us to look. Did look for awhile but not a big fan of disturbing the environment in that way so continued on our walk.

A great walk on this lovely mountain on Sunday morning. We took time, since the weather is now a little more mild to see if we could find a few geocaches along the way. We found this one with no trouble and really enjoyed the little Trail that lead up to GZ. On the way up we stopped at the look out to see your beautiful view. Thanks for bringing us this way

It was one of those days where the weather was just toooo good to be sitting around the house.

While staying very close by, I thought that I would get out into nature and explore the surrounding area, and the reason why it is called Mount Gravatt.

It was a lovely walk to this cache where I took a few moments just to take it all in and examine this nicely made geocache before signing my name among the others before more.

Sorry, this log is four years late... Let's just say that I am catching up. (Who am I kidding, there are hundreds to still be logged.)

Over visiting from NZ and out to find some of the local caches whilst out sightseeing. Went to the top of Mt Gravatt today and then headed back down the hill to find parking to be able look for this one. Managed to find a spot just down from the earthcache lookout and then walked back up the hill to the track entrance.

A short walk up the track and an interesting feature caught my eye, and the GPS said the cache was also close at hand. It didn't take long and I was able to log my signature as well to the nicely made cache. I am really loving the thought and effort that has gone into the caches I've found so far in the Eloise series and I will have to try to make time to come back and look for the others. Another fav from me. TFTC
