A beautiful day for a wander in the forest [^]
Was surprised by the amount of infrastructure they have installed along this little trail!

We decided that today would be a good day for the geokid to go for a walk along with the hyperactive geopup. I needed a trail that would keep my little guy amused but not being too hard on the terrain rating and I decided that this little boardwalk trail would do the job.

We were not disappointed, we found a mixture of small and large caches and we saw lots of kangaroos. So a total of 8 geocaches was found today on a fun day out.

Mrs TiedyeSmileys thought a Kea was a car. She did the trolling on this one and had no problems spotting the monster hide. Big enough to fit an elephant in, well, the elephant TB we had.

12-Apr-15
Lovely morning for a boardwalk and a forest walk, so we did a couple of loops finding these caches. Dry enough that it wasn't boggy, cool enough that snakes weren't a worry.
Nice to see a variety of container sizes and good hides along the walk. Very familiar area for Mrs Frozen Feet, who spent a lot of time orienteering in these parts as a youngster.
Saw a few roos and lots of birds, and a LOT of campers in the rocky paddock section.

05-Apr-15
Some of these could require a boat when the rains come "Marge" Razz
The Geo dogs are loving it as much as the Geocachers. Highly recommend others to come for the walk Smile

Out for the day knocking off some animal facts with locus cache, ismartis, travellinbees plus geopets brodie and winnie. We went up hills and down hills round bends and over bridges. We seen the fires devastation and the new growth coming back.
Thanks for placing thos cache for us to find.

Brodie and I set out to do the 8 Animal Facts caches on the boardwalk at Mt Crawford Forest and then the 31 OTDs of January down Kuitpo Forest way.
We were accompanied by travellinbees, Winnie and Harleyjohn2569 for the boardwalk caches and then I picked up Ismartis on our way to the Kuitpo caches.
Final total of 47 smileys Smile for the day and lots of fun!

Having heard that this small group of caches are doomed to a pending archiving, I wanted to check them out before they disappear
We parked travellinbees' car at one end and Harry at the other as we knew that a big day was planned.
Great walk in a very dry area....No high grass, no waterlogged boardwalk and very little water in any of the low lying dam/wet areas. Wink
Perfect weather, sunny and yet not hot and many laughs were had at the dog house Wink

The first time we attempted to find this cache the water was within two or three inches of the underside of the structure. We could see the cache but couldn't get it Sad No such trouble today with a dry creek bed Smile TFTC 3LG!

After speaking to the CO I wanted to do these caches soon so New Year's Day seemed a good time and after attending Freddo's X Marks the Spot event I headed up here with JJ52 to go for a stroll along the boardwalk.

CPWanderer had warned me to be careful of snakes but thankfully we didn't encounter any.

We found all 8 caches and wondered what it would be like here in the wetter months with more water around for the birds. We never imagined that in a couple of days the nearby hills would have a massive fire burning through them Sad

It did end up getting quite hot so a few shade stops along the way were in order Razz, including a longer stop in the bird hide on the return journey Big Grin. Silly us did end up here in the hottest part of the day, but we are blaming that on Freddo Wink

Thanks for a lovely boardwalk series 3LG [^]

After attending Freddo's New Year Event Ismartis and I headed up to Mt Crawford forest to have a nice walk along the boardwalk to find the caches that we believe may not be here for much longer. Sad
We parked the car at the suggested spot and armed with plenty of water we set off. [^] [^]
Had a lovely walk stopping for the caches in a variety of hides, although it would have been much more comfortable if it had been about 10 degrees cooler. Surprised
Thankfully didn't spot any snakes, no wildlife around except for one small furry animal that ran away quickly after being startled. It was too quick for me to identify. Sad
We found all 8 caches, had numerous stops on the way back and loved the bird hide where we cooled down for a while. Cool
Thanks for the caches 3LG and for bringing us here. Big Grin

My last actual find of these caches. Now that I have a map at least I can head back and find that
little punk at the start. An awesome walk along here. Big thanks to bringing me to a place I
may have never known about otherwise. TFTC

No trouble finding this cache. Nice location. This could be hard to get to if the rains came down.

What an amazing series of caches along a boardwalk in the forest past wetlands.

This series of 7 caches forms a series that would prrobably rate in my top 10 series for this year.
What a pity it is hidden amoungst the animal facts series and will probably be overlooked by people lumping it in with the other caches.

I had an amazing time walking through here.

I know I will be coming back in the middle of winter to see it flowing with water.

A beautiful experience.

Out for a bit of caching while the wife has a BBQ to go too. I dragged the wonderful burtons out for a drive as well.

Loving this part of your series, great caches in a great area.

Out for a drive in the hills to find a good spot for lunch. To build up the appetite, I promised a short walk to grab a few of these. Plenty left for next time! Plenty!!

Had to head to Mt Crawford to check conditions for next weeks Scouts Rally SA so grabbed some caches along the way and around the spectator area. There is a lot of water flowing around in the forest so the cars better stay on the tracks next weekend. Wink TFTC. Big Grin

Still leisurely touring South Australia after the Mega.

After completing a few caches in the morning we headed back to camp for some lunch.

Well as we ate Mr Felix decided that the rain had passed by and wanted to head out caching again. Mrs Felix didn't agree with his weather forecast so agreed to drop him at one end of a walk and pick him up at the other end whilst she stayed dry and read a book. Just over 1km and 8 caches how long can it take [?] Razz

Hmmm well apparently the creeks and streams that we crossed this morning were rather small compared to the dams that Mr Felix had to negotiate this afternoon. See some pics attached.

Indeed some of the caches were floating when located, and the showers of rain just kept coming. When he thought they had passed another few mins and another was upon him.

Certainly an interesting walk in these conditions and the terrain rating is much higher in these wet months. But surely the most memorable of this series. Razz

Tricky extraction. I was planning a bit of excavation to get it out, when I had a brainwave and managed to find the way to get it out without too much trouble, and keep dry at the same time. Neat.

Thanks for the cache, 3LG.

Geo kids loved this find!!

06-Jul-14
Well, that was frustrating... We could see the cache, in fact we could get to about 3cm from it but we couldn't get it Sad. I had two options, one was to jump in the rather full creek and the other was to remove some planks. I wasn't inclined to do either! We'll have to come back another day for this one.

Out with Aussie M & M, official driver and brisal5.... not a great day for a walk in the rain but oh well no point in complaining...
Thanks for the cache.

Mogni was in town for work...again. Cool So I picked her up and we headed off for some caching in the hills. We called in and collected Aussie Mary who became official driver!
Our driver dropped us at this end of the trail and drove to the other to pick us up. She was going to have a walk with us but as it had just started to drizzle and she had already done these she left us too it. Surprised
A nice place to walk despite the drizzle. Another quick find for mogni. I seem to always be trying the wrong side. Smile Thanks 3LG. Big Grin

Decided on a late afternoon trip to the forest to finish of the Animal Fact caches that were in the boardwalk area of the forest. Little Miss geocacher retrieved this one - nice to see another large cache in this series Smile Lots of kangaroos at GZ all looking at us wondering what on earth we were up to. TNLNSL thanks for yet another cache 3LG Smile

The rain started as we were walking here, so it was on with the wet weather gear Smile.
This could be a challenging find in the middle of winter, but it was OK today Razz.

Out and about with Miss GG on a wonderful day, we decided to make it a day in the forest.

We saw this little trail and decided that would be perfect for our walk. I did not know this was here how long has it been here... ?

We also checked out the local camp spots... Looks awesome will have to come and camp here and tick off the rest of the caches around

Thanks for the caches 3LG, sorry for the generic log Very Happy

Woohoo. {FTF}
Woohoo. Surprised) An empty log. I'm not a FTF Hound but it's nice to get them. Especially when it's themed after a New Zealand bird that I suggested to 3LG.
Last night I camped in my swag at the Rocky Paddock Campground and today I'm enjoying the Mt Crawford Forest ambience and getting some caches as I go.
I'd done a few then thought I'd see if any more had been published. My internet connection was sketchy and just wouldn't load anything. I managed to see some more were out but couldn't get details.
I really wanted to get Kea so I rushed off towards Williamstown to get a better signal. At Hale CP I managed to load them so off I drove to closest spot on road to this one rather than suggested parking spot for the series. (Did I say that I really wanted to FTF this one? Red Face )
Watch out for ladybugs. They're everywhere around here.
TFTC 3LG Surprised)

I was out this way when I saw the new caches pop up, well almost, I'd been orienteering in Para Wirra CP. It was a learning experience getting the coords from the phone onto the GPSr and I managed 6 sets of the 8 before deciding to make a dash for some possible FTFs.

Found walking along with Apty.

Thanks for the cache 3LG.
