Found with goldielover here today. Got to love these country roads. Beautiful bush along the way. Thanks for bringing us along here. Thanks for all the work put into this series. Just needs some maintenance on some of them. TFTC
Found with stairman1. Glad to have a find. The hint should be behind the rock. Photo of phantom Czech cachers.
Logged as TBS12. Wasn't hidden under the clue item. But found something that was out of place.
Spent a while searching, but no luck today. Not the most enjoyable caching conditions slowed us down. There is always another day.
Lucky for the seaganoid and taybeedragon for this one still took some tracking down.

We left today set out to get the caches along this road. Some were a lot trickier than others. The area the whole way was really mucky, lots of mud and very few good areas to pull over.
Was out with emiliyah and watcache.
Thanks for the trail.

Staying in Whitianga for the weekend and decided to take this route to Coromandel purely for the Pony Express Caches!
Gps was struggling here so no luck, will try again another time!

The search party was out again. This is another one remaining elusive. No hint object in vicinity. Arranged replacement - now under rock approx 10m from GZ. Cheers.
Day 6 - Wednesday 23 December - Coromandel - Whitianga - Coromandel -And back to Whitianga again. 309 Pony express is the aim today. But it was a hot dusty day and many caches below par so dissapointing. Left Zara in Whitianga and headed out around the loop in Toby.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Hint object totally missing at GZ. Kinda freaky, but, there you go. Searched out to 30 metres too. I wonder if some gardening has been done here. Put in a replacement cache under a rock 10m from GZ, next best place we could find.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Found it during Coromandel adventure trip with Aiden29. Perfect day for it. Enjoyed fairly quick finds along Road 309 all together with perfect weather , first day of Spring and Father`s Day. Some of the finds took bit longer to locate some of them were just right there. GPS coordinates usually bang on and traffic was light too. Thanks for placements and recent maintenance on some of them.
Tramyard already had plans to complete this power trail today, but he asked me if I wanted to join him while we were at an event last night. I jumped at the chance to go on a road trip to the Coromandel - my first time this far up the Peninsula. The weather was perfect, just a little cold and quite foggy along State Highway 2 early in the morning, but once the sun rose we quickly stripped down to our t-shirts (contrary to the last month of weather in Auckland!).
The road was relatively quiet and not too dusty. We didn't have too much trouble with the finds although some took a little longer than others. Thank you for this series.

On a whistle stop tour of the Coromandel (today and tomorrow) but always have time to pick up a few caches. We stayed at Cooks Beach last night, and decided to travel up this road to pick up some caches that I've had my eye on for a while. We had very mixed success - great series and fun to travel on this road from old NZ.... not sure what happened here but I couldn't find it! Another time...
Seem to be along this road more twist and turns than I need to feel. Just as well there are caches along the route so the driver stops so I can look, for caches TFTC Darby&Joan
Haven't been geocaching in a long time. I'm glad it worked out this time. Thanks much to the owner for the cache

Team BOP have reunited for a two day journey up to the top of the Coromandel. We were pleased to be tackling these not long after a maintenance run as it's nice to know the caches are all in good order. They all seemed well placed with adequate parking and in spite of the repetitive nature of power trails - it was quite and enjoyable run.
This cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward hint. Cheers Darby&Joan, TFTC.

On a weekend road trip with Team BOP - Heading to the top of Coromandel but completing this series first. With so many caches in the series it is hard to remember each one. It was great to see maintenance being done on the caches and thought done when placing them for parking. It did start to rain as we began our journey but by the time we finished the sun was shining TFTC
3062 It has been a long time since I have driven the 309 but these caches were a good incentive. Managed to find 32 with 8 DNF. Some were quickly found while others I spent some time looking. All part of the pleasure.
Spent too much time looking for this one. Checked GZ but didn't see it. GPS kept taking me back to that spot so I came in from another angle and made the find. Thanks for the placement.

During our vacation in New Zealand we also did some geocaching. We already found geocaches placed on the year 2000. Now we are heading to Coromendal and there we also did some caches. We found some and also didn't found some. But we had a lot of fun, and that is what geocaching ment to be. We loved the route 309. We had the speed of a pony, so after a long day we finally found the last one. We had no idea what to do with the letterboxes, so we didn't found them. Randsom we ad some FP's.
Darby&Joan hartelijk dank voor het leggen en onderhouden van deze cache.

Initially observations did not see the fallen tree but after a closer look there it was and so was the cache. TFTC
Nice easy find just a bit away from where we parked. One of those times where situational blindness lead Mr and MRs beconaze to not look up at the obvious place...
While spending some quality-time together with my Manaia588 in Whitianga I thought that we could collect some nice caches. Thx for the nice trail.
With MUEZ (aka "the driver") on Road 309 from Whitianga to Coromandel: Thanks for showing us this entertaining and historic "shortcut" from the East to the West Coast.

dneska jsme si užili tuto cestu, jen 2 kešky jsme nenašli, některé ležely jinde než měly a některé nám daly trochu zabrat... ¨počasí bylo střídavě deštivo a slunečno, ale stálo to za to
už jsme podobných cest projeli dost, takže pro nás nic nového, ale přece jen byla nejdelší

As part of our trip from Rotorua to Thames today we drove along the eastern side then decided to do as much as we could of this series as we head across the peninsular to Thames. A very enjoyable drive and some lovely views. Apologies for the generic logs - series is certainly worthy of a favourite point. Thanks Darby&Joan.
On a country drive exploring a beautiful part of New Zealand today we are thoroughly enjoying ourselves. Thanks for placing these caches Darby&Joan that have enhanced our experience of today. Cheers and happy caching! Cache found, log signed, cache replaced as found.
We were fortunate enough to have the use of a batch in Matarangi, and the weather today was not looking like beach weather, so what were we to do but go caching and hunt down a trail...this being the fourteenth of the series...Arrived at GZ and began the search....
A quick search and the cache revealed itself,...on to the next one.
Cache is all good.
Thanks Darby&Joan for the work put in on this trail.

Decided this was a must do while in Whitianga. Drove the 309 and braved the rain. Lunch at Coromandel and back over the Kopu- Coroglen Rd. Very muddy. Found with bkj97. Excuse the repetitive logs.
One of many caches found while on a mission to grab some caches on the 309 and the tapu-Coroglen rds. Found with little blue hen Enjoyed the challenge despite rain and mud. TFTCSL
The long and winding 309.
We were in thrall of the variety of cache containers and the extent of the ingenious recycling and re-use deployed. Also, clearly a large amount of the country's quota of waterproof paper was put to use.
We dodged mud, puddles, muggles, gorse, and assorted trees and their branches to access these caches. But it was a great road trip experience, all of it, east to west. Thanks for laying this trail.
All in order here; log signed, then cache safely re-hidden just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too

Then we went to Melbourne where we visited the city and the surrounding area . then we went to closing in the north of Australia . During this time we visited several geocaches and were brought to very nice places through this partially . We also had the opportunity to visit some very old caches , which extremely pleased us . We wish to thank Owner for nurture and cherish the caches .

As we would like to have a little adventure, the_ kc and me drive the 309 to our next accomodation. And luckily there are a lot of stops to do! Thanks for hiding and maintaining this caches! !!!
Did the nice drive on the 309 with Skyryser. Had a lot of fun searching for the caches. TFTC The-Shredder
a lovely day today to hopefully finish the 309 which we started the other day in horrendous weather and abandoned. This was a quick find. TFTC
Updating my new geo account with my old finds. Geokid has grown out of the geo adventures, but I'm still keen! Found as thebrownehornet and re-logging 31 03 2024 as NurseDr.
Joined Keylev and two others for a 50 in one day streak around the Coromandel as Team SEAC. And we did it, although it seemed to take forever! Amazing day in godzone, and it was great to remember how beautiful the Coromandel is. Definitely be back to stay a while. TFTC
We formed a team of four, keylev, thebrownehornet, He of HeMaLuDy and me to try for 50 caches that are separated by 1km or more all in one day. This is to meet the requirement of one of the GIO challenges. Another late addition to our list. We signed the log as SEAC. TFTC.
Working on the Geo-Licence series and needed to find 50 caches in a day a minimum of 1km apart so a plan was put together to take a trip to collect them along with Agazo, Mrs HeMaLuDy and thebrownehornet. I left home at 8am and returned just after 10.30pm clocking a total of 476km on the car. The scenery was awesome and reminds me of all that is great in New Zealand.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Keylev and Agazo hatched a plan to collect 50 geocaches 1 km apart for their GIO licence, and thebrownehornet was also going along for the ride. At the last minute Mr HeMaLuDy said he could manage the kids and school pick-up, sports etc so Mrs HeMaLuDy decided to tag along too - I'm not sure he was expecting us to be home quite so late as he tried to keep the kids up until I got home but finally put them to bed around 9 (we were home around 10 pm).
We drove pretty much around the Coromandel Peninsula to achieve the goal, and collect a few extras as well. A great day, amazing weather, incredible scenery and very few DNF's. Logs signed as Team SEAC or just SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) as we often cache together as a group, and it saves room on the logs.
A nice easy find here.

#11388. After a couple of false starts, we finally got to drive the 309 road. We enjoyed our drive, even though the DNF rate was quite high. TFTC.
Today is our last day in Whitianga, and so is the last chance to catch the Pony Express. Weather forecast not too bad, a chance of showers (though all we experienced was a few spots of rain early in the day) so we were away before 8.30am. Found 30 out of the 39 in the series, DNFed 8 (a couple may still there but we were unwilling to tackle the gorse) and drove past #38 where the container had been reported as gone. Not one of the best outcomes, but I am pleased we made this scenic journey. Thanks for all the hard work gone into laying this trail.
The end of the sealed road, but the dirt road wasn't too bad. A bit corrugated in places and with a few blind corners, but we have travelled on far worse ones. TFTC.

Another quickly found cache. Just as well as I had failed to take advantage of the optimum parking spot.
I came by this one and saw a guy mowing his lawn next to the cache. No go here then, until I did a few more along the road and came back here to have another go, the coast was clear then and so I was able to get the cache out and do the signing duty!!
Forgot to log at the time. On a geocaching weekend with my favourite geo buddies, we hope to get loads of caches this weekend. We've decided to sign the log sheet as - day trippers CNSZ in order to save space on the log sheets. Thanks to the cachers who hid these caches for us to find and make our weekend such fun.
Found with a geocaching team out for a weekend. Signed as Daytrippers (CNSZ).

Thanks for placing the cache. Pity I don't have more time to get more caches on this road.
I joined forces with yorkshirekiwi83 for a couple of days caching around the Coromandel Peninsula. After a very early departure from Auckland, we then drove around the Peninsula anticlockwise, calling in at Pauanui, Tairua, Hahei and Cooks Beach, to find caches in those places, before taking the 309 Road to Coromandel, where we stayed the night.
Nearing the end of our day, YK83 took over driving duties at the start of the 309 Road as she had previously done the Pony Express cache trail - leaving me to dash out and find the caches for myself! Most of the caches were nice quick finds, with only 1 DNF for me in the series. Thanks for taking the time to place this trail and apologies for the copy and paste logs!
