Drove up the Coromandel coast today and picked up a few caches along the way. Mostly cloudy with the wind picking up as the day wore on. Found this one reasonably quickly. #8104. TFTC.
Log damp and didn't want to damage it by signing, so took a pic instead. Thankyou!
TFTC quick pit stop on day 2 of our NZ adventure, surprising how deep the grass was!!
Interesting find. Make sure you have the right shrub. A bit hard to get to the cache because you have to cross the road so be careful if you have any children.
Kind of an awkward stop and walk through the brush. Someone who was passing me a couple times on the road here stopped to ask what the hell I was doing. Thanks for the cache!
Yay its there!!in NZ for our 50th anniversary. Hoping to get our 10,000 find over in this beautiful country. Thanks for the hide
Found with goldielover today. A quick stop on the way past. All good here with your cache TFTC
Quick and easy find on our way to Coromandel. Logbook is absolutely soaked, impossible to sign, photo log as a proof, tftc
We didnt find all caches, but it is nice series. This one has wet logbook. It is not possible to sign. Just photolog. Tftc
We are on our long-awaited journey around the world in 99 days. Second try after canceling in 2020.
Our third stop after Los Angeles and Hawaii is New Zealand.
This time was of course used to find some geocaches here.
Today we take the „Highway 309“ and while that time we were searching for some of the 309 Pony Express caches!
Thank to the Hints and the good coordinates the little box was found quickly!
After signing the logbook there is a new smile on our geocaching map!
At least we would like to take this opportunity to thank Darby&Joan for creating and maintaining this nice series of caches along our way today!
Greetings from Nuermberg/Germany

P.S. To save space in the logbooks, we not only enter in sequence, but also in empty spaces between.

TaurusSix and I are in New Zealand for a three weeks holiday. We love New Zealand and have had lots of wonderful experiences here previously. This time we have decided to focus our attention on three destinations for one week each, all in the North Island. The Coromandel Peninsula, Waiheke Island and The Bay of Isles. We are very mindful of not focusing all our attention of the holiday on geocaching, however it will still play an important part. We are deliberately focusing on caches that involve some walking, great views, interesting attractions , history and general points of interest. And this will all happen in between exploring, swimming , walking, doing touristy things and relaxing .

Day 9- Our last day in the Coromandel Peninsula before heading off to Waiheke Island tomorrow. We decided to make the most of it and circle the peninsula going clockwise from Pauanui , down to Thames up past Tapu and then on to Coromandel town , before heading back via the road 309. We started our caching day by picking a couple up in Thames, amazed by how busy the traffic is, clearly everyone is setting off on their holidays today. We then went to to Rapaura Water Gardens , we tried to go here the other day but they had already closed be-time we got there so we wanted to make sure we had plenty of time today. They were spectacular and well worth the visit. After that we headed to Coromandel Town and the Driving Creek Railway for a trip through the mountains. Amazing what one mans vision created and certainly a novel way to explore. In the end we collected 11 actual caches and one Adventure Lab for the day before time got the better of us.

This was our fourth cache find of the day as we headed intoCoromandel Town. The road was super busy but managed to pull over without too much trouble. The grass is very long here and then we sigh with relief because there are no snakes in NZ so we trundle right to Gz and soon have cache in hand. Thanks for the cache Darby&Joan

I stopped by here briefly on Saturday, but there was a muggle parked nearby on the phone, well unless they were looking for munzees ?..., so I carried on. Back today and parked nearby for a quick find, TFTC
Today I was driving around the Coromandel but the weather was not nice. So many caches I could not do.
Many thanks to all the Owner.
Many thanks to all the Owner.
Had lunch at the mussel kitchen then this happened to be within sight. After two glasses of wine it upped the difficulty rating
While exploring the Coromandel for the week we decide to take the 309 accross to Coromandel town.
Got the first one so had to make sure we collect the last one also. Thanks for the series, if we are ever up this way again we will try and complete the trail. TFTC

We left today set out to get the caches along this road. Some were a lot trickier than others. The area the whole way was really mucky, lots of mud and very few good areas to pull over.
Was out with emiliyah and watcache.
Thanks for the trail.

Heading to Rings Beach with my Niece Becky. So of course did some caching on the way. Becky found this one
Staying in Whitianga for the weekend and decided to take this route to Coromandel purely for the Pony Express Caches!
Quick easy find for the last of the 309 caches! Missed a few along the way as we were running short on time today but we will be sure to come back for them another time! Thanks for the effort you have put into these caches! It is a road we otherwise would not have taken

Thanks for your amazing cache. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches.
Found with Fisha1288.
Was going to do the 309 until I saw it's not suitable for motorhome.
Cheers, Cympull.

Last day of our holiday in Coromandel and now heading down to Rotorua. Had spare time to stop for caches close to the road. No problems finding this one.
Out celebrating our bdays and wedding anniversary this weekend. Had to have geocaching in it. Quick find. Tftc
On our way up the Coromandel with evilC, taking the long route... We continued north rather than take the side trip this time. TFTC!!
We are away for 10 days touring around and collecting caches as we go along
I biked out from Coromandle Town to do this series or at least some of them and I turned back when I got to the top of the hill. Most were straight forward and in good condition
As I signed this one I heard a loud clap of thunder and had to hi tail it back to the campervan in town

You can't go over it, you can't go under it,you have to go through it.... Swishy swashy
Last cache of this day and parked back the way at the Mussel shack. All good here, I might be back sometime for the others in the series. Thanks Darby&Joan
I did plan to head back to Coromandel via this road but some 4WD hoons and a thought of all that gravel put me off so I greedily picked off the 2 LBH caches and a couple of the trads. Another day/visit then for the rest.
Day 3 of our Coromandel visit and our last full day prior to heading back towards home tomorrow. We headed out nice and early this morning with a long-winded route to the TMGTs at Whiti the city and some more great scenery. Intent was to return via 309 kauri, but that got shelved and just picked a few off at each end instead.
Our last visit to the Coromandel was over 12 years ago so it was good to be back in the area after all of that time. We had spent Christmas away in Northland, and a quiet New Year at home before a 4 day/3 night stay in Coromandel town. We explored up the West of the peninsula up to Fletchers Camp, through the middle and across to the East coast of Whitianga and Whangamata, before heading back home 'via' Waihi Beach, where sadly that lady was killed by a shark whilst swimming, RIP. We found all available TMGT options, a few Earthcaches and saw some great sites and sights. Thanks to all COs for their caches here. We didn't do nearly as many as the Seagnoid and TB dragon whose steps we followed in on some days.

We have just been of Driving Creek Railway. So now heading sout for the remainder of the day. Stopped of for Pony Express #39. The end is where we are starting with getting this one snagged and tagged on our way past today. Cheers. Looking at doing this road tomorrow .
Day 5 - Tuesday 22 December -Paritu Bay, Coromandel, Thames and back to Coromandel by dark Left Zara resting in Coromandel while we went exploring with Toby. Loved Driving Creek Railway today.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

This cache is right on the end of the 309 trail, on the western coast, which is whereethe dragon and I are exploring. We will catch up with the rest of 309 later - tomorrow, I think.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs, 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk and lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

We picked this one up as we passed on our way to Matarangi.
We were briefly tempted to attempt the rest in the series but thought that would be best saved for another day. TFTC.

This is the only one on the Pony Express trail we will be doing today. Nice way find with easy parking. Thanks for the cache Darby&Joan
Nice fast find lots of history here...ThanksDarby&Jone for the cache ..all good here
Another find on a drive round Coromandel only 309 cache. Wet weather and large campervan put us of a drive to the falls.
Out and about for a few days for a bit of a road trip around the Coromandel area. Day Three of my road trip. I started my travels in Whitianga and ended my day in Coromandel Town. My main objective for today was to find as many of the 309 Pony Express caches as I could manage. Weather had changed from yesterday - it was hot and sunny then - a bit cooler today and I encountered a few showers along the way. Not enough to dampen my enthusiasm though. Apologies for the cut and paste logs. I'll note anything that stood out for me. End of the road - end of the trail. Thanks for placing all these caches. Thanks for the fun and TFTC, Biggles.
Found with MrsC on our NZ travels from the Uk. A day touring the Coromandel Peninsula. Thanks
A new drive for me along the 309 road collecting caches along the way.
Most caches didn't take too long to find, a few took a little longer though.
Logs were signed and caches replaced as found.
Sorry for the cut and paste logs.
A few of the caches could do with a CO visit, but I didn't keep notes on individual caches, only the numbers of the ones I stopped for and found.
