Amazing watching mountain bikers fearlessly zoom down the hill - signs of getting older
Hi there we found the cache at GZ however unfortunately the container is seriously damaged. Log is dry for now though. Cheers
I found myself close-ish to this one while doing DM#90 NFC multi. I forgot how hilly it is around here. It was around 30 degrees and I was puffing and panting doing up and down and up and down and finally up to get to this one. Cache is hidden well in plain sight, container in pieces and no pens but logbook is nice and dry.
Yes, cache in pieces, but found it. No pens, and I left my pen back in the car by mistake, hope you like the irony given the cache description.
I had a spare hour or so, and have been trying to hike more. Caches help with the motivation.
I found the remains of the cache, the area has been bulldozed and the cache was in pieces under logs. I've put all the bits together, the logbook was still intact and dry. Sent CO some pics.

Out and about with geo grandkids. Made the big walk up with a promise of icecream on the return walk. Nice easy find. Cache in good condtion. Thanks ahomburg for taking me to another area I have never been.

A bonus find for me today. Decided to pick as not a cache that has quick access. Enjoyed the meander to GZ with some nice shade cast at this time of day. Nice area. I think there is about 6 caches to go now in this series.

I had to by pass the other caches on the way to this one as I was always on the wrong track being the easier one so as I was getting closer to this one I took the harder track as I appeared to be the right one and what do you know I could have stayed on the easier one, cache was found quickly, now for the trip but to get the others the harder way.
**Thanks to ahomburg for placing this cache.**

Thanks for the cache a Homburg, the weather has quietened down into quite a nice day so I thought id take this opportunity to go for a walk. regards from Becker

You can sit in front of the computer as long as you like, trying to solve cache puzzles, but ultimately it's more important to get out and look for them, otherwise what was the point?
To that end, and because it's been way too long since I walked some decent hills, it was time to get back to the Dandenongs for a Meander.
Way past time, in fact. It's been nearly five years.
After a lovely walk up the creek, I got to my first objective. Coincidentally, Pen Cache #2 was one of my smileys last time I took a Meander.
Thanks, ahomburg. No spare pens needed.

Found out MTB caching.
Reasonably quick find, still a good supply of pens in the container, but I had my "writes on just about any wet or dry log" pen so didn't need to borrow one.
Cache was dry, but Ziploc bag for log was torn, so I replaced it with one of my spares.
Last find before heading home to clean the mud off the bike, and get ready for work.

why take the flat path when you can go up and down?
when you’re in that yellow wood and are umming and aahing on which path to take, up-down should be your go-to
sure, they’ll both end up in the same place at the same treasure and taking the path with the short sharp hill and plunging descent will be more pain for your calves and knees
but that’s the point
you can walk the flat path anyplace, you come to the mountains for the privilege of the pain in your muscles and joints
and to share the regret of the up-down path

I got a pen. I got a pen. I had a pen. Anyway, signed I did. After all this time I’ve found a list of ‘drafts’ so feel a bit daft given there’s about 90 sitting there so this is a tad late. Always love big trees and this forest that is surprisingly different to my big backyard. Picking up a small clutch of caches in this area partly to fulfil another mission having solved a few puzzles within cooee of here. TFTC- great fun had wandering up hill and downhill...and up and down again etc etc!

Ducked out this afternoon for a walk and leg stretch while some software was compiling.
Wasn't sure that I would get back dry but what the heck, it's only water. Parked near the fence sty at the top of the cheese rolling alley and headed off along the path. Plenty of moisture around, thankfully it is all on the ground. A nice easy walk along a gentle downhill grade and 600 odd meters later I had an easy find in my hands.
I decided to sign with my stamp as a conscientious objector even though I'm sure the myriad of pens work perfectly well.
After a casual stroll back up the hill I jumped into my car as dry as a bone for the drive home
Cache container sanitised after use.
**Thanks for placing this cache ahomburg**

A lovely day off today and I spent it the best way possible - caching! Tidying up some DNFs and caches I have missed in the past while up in the Ranges. This was a great walk along the pipeline, so beautiful! It was a quick find at GZ, not sure why this is terrain 3.5 but I need it for my DT matrix, TFTC!
Great walk in up and down the trails, the three geo kids loved the scenery and was an easy find tftc
Great walk along this quiet track on a sunny but very cold morning - the best time to walk. Surprises me so few cachers come out away from their cars in the winter. Quick find and sign, lots of pens still there.

Today was the first day we took the electric bikes into the Dandenongs to finally find some of the DM puzzles plus others around the area that we have had solved for a long time. Some of the hills were pretty steep and really sucked down the battery power. I unfortunately even had to help pedal up a few of the steeper sections. What is this world coming to!
A couple of the smaller narrow tracks were very challenging as well with fallen trees across them but in the 3 hours or so we had we managed 20 finds and no DNF's. Pretty pleased about that.
Fleabag- was having too much fun and overshot GZ. I was on my game and soon found a box full of pens so I took all of them so I can use them in the office so now you can rename this cache to "The Cache #1".
Thanks ahomburg for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

The Dandenongs seem to present a never ending supply of caches for Spiffy- and I. Many puzzles we have had solved for some time. Today we tried to clean up a patch on our Stealth electric bikes. Some hills really sucked the battery down but the real challenge was those that had fallen trees on the small tracks which meant lifting the 40kg plus bikes over... lots of pens here! Thanks to ahomburg for the placement and fun.
After a brief walk along the track on a nice afternoon it’s wasn’t long before I reached GZ. A quick find

I had spied this one out on my walk to Pipeline cache the other day.
Returned today with wife and dog. It's a fine area for walking. tftc.

Proudly rode up the hill to this point with geoson. Needed the hint cos gps said it was out on the middle of the open area. Had our own so did not take one. TFTC
I've walked this track a few times as it is fairly close to where I live . It's a great spot . There are still plenty of pens in the cache . Thanks for the adventure .
This is a cool idea! I recently found "League of Gentlemen" caches in Geelong, where all the caches are named after characters from said TV show. One of them was named Pauline's Pens, a character who had an unusual obsession with biros. But the actual cache was an Eclipse tin, would've been cool if it was like this one!
Cache was a quick find and I signed my name using one of the enclosed pens, a red one.
Thanks ahomburg

ClanMagee went for a little ramble since we had come to visit Nana, aka Mrs Mochila. Cache was a quick find and we stamped the log and were on our way - what kind of a person brings a stamp to a pen cache? . We saw a shy lyrebird very near this cache. TFTC.
Wandering past on our way back from another AHomburg find, so we just had to grab this cache.
We noticed the terrain was a little tougher than our earlier fund so were prepared for some serious clambering. But turned out to be an easy find with minimal exertion. TFTC and we appreciated the pen, as ours were back in the car.

Had trouble finding a pen to sign the log here . Great back part of the Dandenongs I've never been to. Left kangaroo puzzle. Thanks.
This is a special cache. This is my first one to be ticked of in the DM series. I have been eyeing this trail off for some time now and with a compulsory impounding at the local Y I took the opportunity to explore the surrounding landscape. I was not disappointed. Amazing scenery, undulating paths and pretty little flowers and plants along the way. Cache found and I enjoyed writing our moniker in every colour available. Because I could. Thank you. DMs are now on the list to continue.
Out for a stroll with elthamkiwi in this area of the Dandenongs that I hadn't visited for ages.
The weather was fantastic which was lucky for us as well as the many people doing the Oxfam walk today.
None of them were passing us as we paused to locate the cache.
Cheers ahomburg, thanks for the cache.

On a hike to Silvan Dam with over a hundred people, my brother and I stopped to find this cache. A little difficulty locating it, with questions from a few of the others as they wandered past as to why we were diving into the bushes here.
The hint (as so often in this area) was quite useful to find this one.
Signed the log book with one of the pens - took it and used it to log the other caches we found on the hike - thanks!

I was out training for the OXFAM Trailwalker with Annoying Tarbit, BendSinister, waferthin and Lost_and_found_79. I joined the search a little hesitantly, but this time because I was a bit knackered from all the walking! Another one quickly nabbed by Annoying Tarbit and me feeling great because I knew I wouldn't need to solve a puzzle later on before claiming the smiley
Find #3119
Up in the hills again today on another training walk for the Oxfam Trailwalker event with Bend Sinister, Waferthin, Lost_and_found_79 and Loz6032. We covered around 30km and of course found the time to divert for a few caches along the way. This was my fourth find of the day and we made the find pretty quickly and my walking/caching partners were all very well supplied with writing implements, not that we needed to worry about that at this cache. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for this series and the cache in a great location ahomburg.

Found while marching through the forest with Annoying Tarbit, Lost_and_found_79, Loz6032 and waferthin. I believe Annoying Tarbit fished it out from its hiding place quite swiftly. Not entirely sure why I hadn't found this one before. Most of the surrounding caches are familiar. I do appreciate the concept here. I wasn't in possession of a pen myself, though I always have a pencil in my hand, something that attracted comment from my companions, curiously enough. Anyway, this CO is a veritable pillar of the community innit. Thanks ahomburg!
The last find of the day. It was another fairly straightforward find though I was glad I had the gloves with me for this one as a wombat had marked its territory right on top of the cache. Had to have a giggle at that. As I was signing the log with my own pen (turns out this was one cache you didn't need to BYO pen lol) the partner whistled to say people were approaching. As I emerged after replacing the cache and stopped to look at a nest nearby, they walked around the corner and stopped right next to GZ. As we walked off they ducked into the bushes. Let's hope they were cachers! TFTC!

Picking up a few DMs on this lovely afternoon out riding with 88andy88.
Twas my turn to retrieve, so battling my way through the prickles, I bravely found this well-hidden cache. Glad we remembered to bring a pen! Lol

A pleasant stroll to gz and a quick and easy find for my latest DM cache. As I always have a pen or two with me when I am caching, I had no need to partake of the ones generously left here. Thanks for bringing me here and thanks for the cache.
Enjoyed the walk along this track this morning. Cool conditions make it ideal and the hills not too wearisome. Cache all good.
As I was walking towards GZ I was wondering about the cache's name. When I opened the container I realised why. Took the geo-coin.
Tks again ahomburg!
Tks again ahomburg!
I used to walk this track but it's been a while, I think I shall make more use of it again, great exercise & some great caches scattered about. Had fun finding this cache, my new GPS was putting me right on the GZ
Thank you ahomburg for your cache, I shall endeavour to put a few more smileys on some more of these
Took nothing, left nothing, brought my own pen so didn't need one though I do love the idea, very original

I've solved all the DM puzzles I'll ever manage on my own. On Tuesday I was out to grab a few. Today it was a hot Saturday in the city, so a good day to head to hills to find a few more. I parked on the Sylvan Road and spent the afternoon doing a wide circuit. This is terrific terrain for walking, and I looked to stay off the main thoroughfares as much as possible.
This was as far as I was prepared to walk, only two kms from my car. But I felt like I should have brought a tent. I was out of water. Left a BIC pen and took a blue fineliner.
Thanks for bringing me to this superb area!

After living away from home for 6 months, I have managed to find all my caching associated paperwork / notes & photo's so I can (finally) log all my finds... Found this cache with Happy Pants whilst visiting Yarra Glen ...
My sincerest thanks to all the cache owners for their hides & all the effort gone into them & I'm sorry for the generic log... I have seen many beautiful area's that I would not of seen or experience if not for your hides...
Thanks for bringing me here and for the cache...

Out with Snap Happy on our way to Olinda this afternoon and I made this my first cache for the day after an casual stroll to the gz, thanks ahomburg for the cache. TNLN.
Found on a cache run to clean a few more off the list, on the Dandenongs. Thanks for the cache.
After a further nice stroll Rabbitto and I were at GZ and he made the find. Unfortunately neither of us had thought to bring a pen so we just had to find some burnt charcoal to sign with.
I found this cache today on a walk through some Dandenongs walks in company of Alansee. A relatively flat walk to this spot from the car and a beautiful temperature to make the walk. Thanks from D B-A
Evening walk with Gunks to log some of the nearby mystery caches and the traditional ones too.
After the first find, I realized I'd lost my phone (along with drivers licence, bank card, cash...)
We were on a real treasure hunting mission, with no coordinates. It was dark, we were walking in a forest, phone was in a black cover and it went straight to answer phone when we rang it (reception is pretty poor round there.) And I'd only had it 2 weeks.
Luckily we'd been mostly on tracks, so after a good look round the definitely off-track GZ, it was time for back tracking.
Nearly back at the start I found it.
Then it was time to resume the geocaching, when it was safely zipped up in a bag, not in one of my press stud pockets.
Nice hide, TFTC.

Enjoying the walks around this area. You'll be pleased to know I brought my own pen. Still a lot of pens left. Cache in a good condition in a good hide.
Started at Mt Everlyn Recreation Reserve and walked toward Silvan Dam, as had done the others at that end a few weeks ago. Lots of track track but found easily. Tnln. Tftc and the walk.
Took a little while to find this one. Success in the end. TNLN. T4TC. Cheers, Ric
Walking this track in the pouring rain was like walking directly through a Creek. The path though is very well defined which surprised the bananas.
The hide is, we suggest, the only dry part of this whole hill. Found in the dark this is a lovely location in an area where we have not been before.
Great idea for maintenance except this one was found last.
Well done ahomburg.
