We did go passed, did a u turn, got out of the car as the rain came down. Seemed and found. Thanks for the cache
Away for the June Long Weekend with TheWhiteDogGang. We based ourselves at Orroroo and travelled far and wide over 4 days. We managed 1,500 kms during our travels. We managed to find some really old caches, one from 2001, and even managed to get all 9 terrain ratings. Not bad for 2 old farts with no coordination. The weather was dry if not cold on occasions.A good way to spend 4 days.No students seen today.TFTC
A LWE away caching w Team WaldronToured the mid north and surroundsSome great caches foundFixed a few as wellTFTC

WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 6 - Morgan to Jamestown via Burra and Hallett. After a fun day around Morgan yesterday, it was time to move on. A very cold night last night. I did a few roadside caches along the way, but I spent most of my caching day around Burra. I have done quite a bit of caching in Burra before, but it was great to see a wonderful collection of caches to be attempted today. I even managed two sets of Labs, including a good walk around the mine site. As I headed over to Jamestown, there were a few caches that drew attention to the huge wind farms on all of these ridge lines. My last cache ended up pretty much being where I stopped to camp for the night. Into town for dinner tonight.I found the stone commemorating the school, so I felt I was in the right area, then I started looking around a bit and was happy to locate the cache. Thanks for the cache Hylands546471.16 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Gold Shuttle A#233**Albida**
Travelling with richlink from Perth to Darwin up along the west coast and home again through the centre and the Nullarbor, picking up caches as we go. Based in Peterborough, we are exploring some of the surrounding countryside today. Thanks for the cache.
Travelling with iluvtrekking up the WA coast to Darwin, down the Centre and in the Flinders. Basing ourselves in Peterborough for a few days to grab finds in the surrounds. Thanks Hyland5
Love these caches with a bit of history. Looked under a piece of cor flute thinking that would be good camo and there was bluey, having a snooze out of the cold. Tftc
No kids out here today, must have been the day off. Cache found and is all good here
After making my way up to Caroona Creek Comservation Park yesterday and camping the night there my main goal of the day was to make the walk through Tourilie Gorge finding cache with 4.5 years unloved followed by the rest of the day finding caches around the mid north yet to be found before making my way back to Adelaide.
Thanks for the cache

Nice find and went from a blue face to a yellow smiley. Thanks to Hylands5 for the cache replacement. TFTC
Out and about with Bear049 we scoured the area but did not come up with anything cache like on the fence or surrounding grounds although visibility was difficult due to long thick green grass.
We stopped here on the way from Wilmington to Burra, heading homewards. I searched but found mothing.
School's out. In fact the school seemed to be missing
Some educational material remains
And to our surprise, the local school bus came to the corner opposite and dropped off some kids who were picked up there just as we'd signed the log in this small metal cache.
Much appreciation to Hylands5 for hiding this cache on our SA geo map game board
Touring the countryside with Jack and Purrfect Di.

Geocaches are located and logged using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S20+, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck!
---
Please do stay safe when caching.
Lookout for mud, snakes, surprise cliffs, wild goats, wombats, bulldust, and lightning,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins... but especially lookout for bugs. [xx(]
Make sure Travel Bugs are the only bugs you share and pass on
We really appreciate all those placing quality caches out and about especially away from the city crowds,
it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting

Well it’s 2021 and I have finally said good bye to a not so great 2020 and it was great to finally be able to have a reasonable holiday as I have not had a decent break since 2019.
Making my way towards South Australia and finally crossing the boarder and then being greeted by a couple of very friendly SA police offices which i had the official paper work to allow me to enter.
After checking out a very large fan blade down the road I continued my way northwest towards this one.
Geocaching when towing a van is not always easy and I have to be a bit selective on which ones I decide to try and find for safe parking purposes especially along busy highways.
This was one of the ones with enough parking for the Geocruiser and van.
I have stopped at a lot of former school sites in my travels and it is quite amazing how some of them were only open for such a short time.
I soon added my name to the log and I was on my way again.
Thanks Hylands5 TFTC.

Another find on a over cast cool day. Drive past here a lot in truck no time to stop
But today in car I can stop and have a look, just annoys you when you keep driving past and you can’t stop but finally a smile is on our face TFTC

Out grabbing some caches for the LGA Challenge - this one just inside the boundary. Left a lucky Chinese Feng Shui coin.

We found this one whilst driving back to Burra, we’ve been on a caching loop driver mode the day. TFTC and some more history about an old country school.
Owl was in the area to knock off another LGA area for a challenge, to allow Eagle to look at pretty scenery and technological things and to get away from the fledglings for a while. All 3 goals were achieved! This was the last cache of the day and looked like being a DNF until Owl realised it was in plain sight and she was looking at it!
Making my annual pilgrimage to Darwin for the Supercars, this time via Burra and the Oodnadatta Track. TFTC.

When reading about the school it almost sounds like it was a pop up school. One moment it’s there & then next moment it’s gone

We were travelling from Burra to our next destination of Hawker we zig zagged through this picturesque area picking up a few caches along the way.
We wish we had a dollar for every old school site we have visited since we started Geocaching as we would have a lot more money to put in for fuel and go visit more.
We often wonder why these schools closed , whether it was people moving away form the area or better modes of transport that meant they could consolidate the schools.
The cache was a nice easy find right where the GPSr was pointing and our names have now nee added to the log.
As we got back into the car we noticed the turbines in the distance being engulfed by low cloud making the top blade invisible giving the impression they were only running on two, looked very weird.
Thanks hylands5 for the cache.

Sad that these small schools have all but disappeared but good that they are remembered in this small way. Fascinating name. TFTC

Who, but a geocacher, can plan on having dinner in Jamestown at 6.30pm, 120kms from home, and leave 9.30am that morning and get home 7.30pm the following night after travelling 750kms.
We had a great weekend, viewing some great scenery, meeting wonderful people and, of course finding a cache or 2 or 3 or ............
Thank you to those who left a cache for us to find and make the weekend so good.

A quick find with taurus1955 and BentleyTB. We took the log to the car to sign as there were lots of flies hanging around today in the heat. TFTC
Although there were millions of little flies annoying us we persevered and located the cache. It is very sad to see all these schools closed due to the lack of students

Had to pull over to take a phone call while on a work trip and noticed there was a little monument - highly likely there was a cache here - alas there was! Tftc!
We are heading across to the Flinders Ranges on a 2 week sojourn. We don't intend to do a lot of caching but will try and pick up a few along the way.
Today we are travelling from Burra to Wilpena Pound for 2 nights in a real room and then we will decide whether to camp there or further into the park. Its still npretty good condition - in Victoria it would have been dismantled and made into a barbecue at someone's house.

If nothing else, all these old school sites seem to have to trees to mark their (previous) existence [^].

Heading south for the day on a sightseeing trip, but decided to find a few caches on the way. Oh the flies here!! Unbelievable and no obvious reason for them. Found the cache quickly and back into the car, still with flies! Tftc
