GCLOGAN TripInteresting to read about Fred Hollows. Found with GrimRaider on a hot morning drive. I am travelling with GrimRaider to GCLogan and then to western NSW on our first trip with the van. Thanks for hiding this cache Bourkebornandbred
After making it to the Northernmost point of Australia from Melbourne we are now on the return journey south. We are currently camped in Bourke and out exploring the area. After a visit to Fred Hollows grave we wandered further into the cemetery to find the cache. TF placing this cache for us to find on our travels.
Making our way towards home over the next few weeks travelling with 2 dogs and a cat we have found caching a great way to give the fur babies a break. Thanks to the COs for placing and maintaining.
Tftc, Lou and Paul from yhe Blue Mountains NSW. Travelling with Savannah. Cache in good irder.
Nice easy find after visiting the nearby burial site of a significant Australian, what an amazing man he was TFTC
Paid our respects.Great man.Funny the sign just says he was born but not where.NZ as it happens as my brother in law worked for his brother.Another fav for the significance of the location. Signed The RoosTftc
Veni. Vidi. Vici. Scripsi. In Bourke for a day on the way home to Adelaide after a 9 week sojourn through NSW, and decided to visit the Fred Hollows grave. Saw this cache was nearby, so, after the respects were paid, on the way back to the car and visiting some of the graves of the local characteres, this cache was in the target. Wandered over to GZ, and as I approached, the hide was observed. Extracted the cache, signed the log and then replaced as found. Visited some more characters and then to the car to visit the Warf, Crossley engine and also complete the Bourke AD Lab.Gratias Pro Cachce Bourkebornandbred
Pen dry but photo available. Found on our way the BRB at Birdsville. Stopped here to visit wifes relatives . TFTC
First thing after packing up and preparing to get on the road we made our way down to the cemetery to see Fred's grave. Apparently he was so well known in the area a first name was only required. A lovely tribute. Cache all good. But I could hear a nearby bee's nest. Thanks for the cache.
With dot558 after doing the pet cemetery walked down for this smileThankyou for placing the caches
Been working around Canungra for a couple of months and on the road back home to Manda.Stopped here for a quick cache grab on the way past.Interesting cemetery, full of history. TFTC
Day 4 of my tour of Central NSW. Hoping to chase some LGAs and other points of interest. Left Gilgandra and headed West with Bourke as the target for the end of the day. First stop was Nevertire where a slosh through the wet found this cache. Luckily it's a fine sunny day and the shoes will dry out. Next stop was just a quick pitstop but cache is not quite the way it should be. Arrived at Nyngan and collected a few outback caches then rolling on down the Mitchell Hwy for a few more. Arrived in Bourke and headed to see Fred Hollows grave. Not seen kangarroos in a cemetery too often. Tftc
With a handful of tears falling from heaven, we explored the cemeteryworld. Reading names, stories, and dates it really brings home how difficult life was in years gone by. Having just laid to rest Genghicat's father, wandering the cemetery brings us a sense of gravitas. Still, there is a peacefulness to be found in the cycle of life. We found the cache in good condition. Tftc

Exploring outback NSW with the family and picking up some random caches along the way. Amazing story about Fred Hollows here. Incredible man. Thanks for the cache.
Found the cache easily enough but was saddened by the state of neglect that the pet cemetery was in.

Freddo and Team Waldron headed to warmer climes around Broken Hill, Cobar, Bourke, Cunnamulla
and Charleville.
After a cold start in Broken Hill the weather improved once we got further north. Sadly our last night in Broken was wet which, pardon the pun, put a dampener on things.
All up it was a great week away and lots of caches were found with only 3 dnfs.
Thanks to all who placed and maintained their caches. The occasional cache was damaged and we refurbished it and we also left new logbooks as required.
A quick find as we toured Bourke early on a chilly morning.

Day Six: Charleville to Bourke
Weather: all over the place.
Greetings from a transiting South Australian.
One of five Bourkebornandbred caches found as I wandered around and familiarised myself with town.
This one was rather exposed, so I’ve covered it so it doesn’t go in the next cemetery clean up.
Thanks for the cache BB&B!

A fitting grave stone for such a big character.
There is another character buried in Burke in a paupers grave - Elijah Upjohn, otherwise known as ‘The man who ended Ned’ listen to his story on the podcast on 29/09/22 “In Black and White” by Jen Kelly.
Thanks Bourkebornandbred for taking time to set out and maintain this hide and for showing us this very special part of the world

Finally found this sneaky hide brute heading off to pay my resurrects to Fred Hollows
Unfortunately I couldn't find this easy cache, couple of empty jars and a broken toy, but maybe overlooked it. But got to visit a famous grave,so that was a bonus!
Easy little park and grab. The cache is in good condition, signed and replaced. Thanks Bourkebornandbred for placing the cache.
Quick find after spending some time looking at some of the historical graves. TFTC.
I had a long wander around here after arriving from Lightning ridge. There were so many emotional stories here but one which really cut me deeply. I have attached a photo for this particular Family. Heartbreaking. The cache is dry and does need a new logbook/sheet very soon
We had planned a road trip to Queensland to visit family in 2021, but our travel plans were stalled due to border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the world was trying to get back to a semi normal state, we decided to have another go at getting away from the cold and head up north for some sunshine and warmth. Day 3 of our trip saw us tackle Bourke and cross the border to Cunnamulla for the Paroo puzzles. Again the wildlife showed themselves, some a bit too close for comfort. The roads for the trails were all in good condition which made the driving between them bearable and an enjoyable day in the red dirt.
Our apologies for the generic log, but thank you to all the cache owners for the placements.

Revisiting Bourke for the third time from TAS, but this time its mostly to see the town from a geocacher's perspective. So far so good on these bornandbred caches. Thanks for giving us an incentive for a few laid back cruisey days Bourkebornandbred.
Checked out Fred Hollows resting point then made the short walk to find this one. TFTC
We have arrived in Bourke and put the caravan at the information center while we used geocaching as our tour guide. We have had a wonderful day. SL TFTC
We opened the door here to locate the cache. Thank you for placing it for us to find.
Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.
Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??
Thanks Bourkebornandbred for placing this cache and adding to our game.

A quick find with frmen1. We love cemeteries (the older the better) and will wander around them even if there isn't a cache lol
The older section is very soft under foot in places at the moment. There were some very touching memorials. Thank you for bringing us here.
