Logs
After a couple of iterations, from a cache inside a ti tree to a part of a totem pole to finally a micro hanging in a tree, these cache has had its challenges and constant muggling.
After 8 years and a new dog park making it even mor popular, it is time to say farewell to Aspendale

No luck today. The ground in the dog park was sodden and there was nothing of significance in the area where the GPSr devices indicated GZ to be. Given the recent DNFs we did not stay long.
The last few logs have been DNFs but we weren’t going to let that deter us. If the co-ords are correct it can only be one tree (which seems to be growing poorly) and, sadly, we have had to add to the DNFs for this cache. We checked some of the other trees/bushes just in case but still no luck. This is a local one for us so we’ll be back for another try.
Out and about with geo-chum Echidna44, three of us searched high and low but failed to find this cache. I will watch this one.
Out for a drive with BoabTree and muggle husbands, we were doing a little caching in the Aspendale area. A lovely day with good weather and great company.
Three of us searched for 20 minutes all to no avail.

@jett_theshoutyspoodle & I eyeballed the cache on a wander around the park.
We scooted to the park near our house and found it. You’ll need to walk through the dog park to find it
This cache presented itself this morning as available and I had just been down at Chelsea for some exercise and for some reason I thought it was a new cache. I soon realised it was recently disabled for maintenance so I guess i had it wrong.
Anyway, I parked up nearby and made my way into the area minus the 4-legged friend I probably needed here. Fortunately there was only one another Muggle and their geo-hound and not within 50m of me, so I made my way to GZ and began the hunt.
I initially focussed on the wrong piece of vegetation, but soon dismissed that and checked the next area. I pretty much saw it immediate set about signing it.
Well the log was damp, so I made my way to a nearby bench and set about drying it on my pants and trying to get some sun on it, but it wasn’t really making much effect.
My pen had an attempt at writing, but it’s not legible and was only damaging the log as it was pretty much putting holes in the paper.
Either way, I am actually surprised that the log is wet given how the container is upside down and lid is down.
Anyway, I visited 5 TB.

Searched in the wrong tree for a while, until we looked somewhere else and found it nearly straight away. TFTC
Decided to take my geo dog out this arvo to this nice dog park. Being within my 5kms was handy there was a cache here I hadn't found before. There was only one muggle and dog I had to wait to leave and the cache was soon located. Thanks Chiefs.

The final cache of the day and I'm sorry to report that this one needs some serious TLC. The log is almost destroyed and saturated and the ants nest in the hole are making a mess of what's left.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for this geocache find here today, a pleasant day to be out and about for some geocaching entertainment,

There were a LOT of ants around me, on, and in the cache... Otherwise, all good -- thanks!
Disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis.
I was hoping to able to avoid this step. Although exercise is ok, beaches, playgrounds, parks etc are being closed, and we are being asked to stay home.
The possibility to transmit the virus by surface contact exists, and with so little being known how long viral RNA stays viable on surfaces why take a risk?
At the end of the day, geocaching is a game, it is non essential and we are dealing with a serious Public Health emergency.
As we keep seeing people continuing to search for our caches I feel the only responsible thing to do is disable all our caches to discourage this until the crisis passes.
Thanks.

### **OWNER MAINTENANCE REQUIRED?** ###
----------
Hi there Cache Owner,
I notice from recent log entries that this cache would seem to be in need of owner intervention. Even though a Good Samaritan ('Gozanators') has assisted at this cache, it is still in need of owner attention.
Just drying out or replacing a wet log sheet doesn't always address the problem - why was it wet in the first place? It could be an indication that the container is not weatherproof or the washer/seal on the container needs replacing.
I am temporarily disabling it so as to stop it showing up on search lists. **Can you please respond to this situation (or indicated your intention) within 14 days,** so others know exactly what is happening with this cache?
You have lots of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:
- Check on the cache, repair and/or replace the cache or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) indicating the cache has been checked and [**ENABLE your cache.**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ) Then sit back and wait for the praises.
- If you really hope to get it fixed but there is some unusual reason why you can't do it soon, then at least post a Write Note log (within %D% days). Be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it. For ongoing issues (where you don't have an actual date) please ensure you visit the page and post a note every 28 days so as to keep everyone up to speed.
- If you don't plan on fixing it then you could consider passing it on to another geocacher by asking them to [**Adopt it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=54) or alternatively, you need to [**Archive it,**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56) so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.
You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of those. Well, if nothing happens, then a few weeks from today, when I next look at the cache page, it is likely that I will unfortunately have to de-list (Archive) it on the basis that it has been abandoned.
Honestly, I'd rather you decide so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.

Cache has a new stone paper log sheet thanks to the Gozenators, is a bespoke container that is ready and waiting for a finder
#1641 Had originally looked for this probably a couple of years ago but it gave up as from memory it was mid arvo and lots of muggles about. I came back a few months ago, later in the day with geo-dog as a decoy after doing another cache about 500 m or so away. This time I spotted the cache and thought I will save that for a P366 occasion. Well that night had come and after having attended a meeting on the other side of the drain, we detoured by this park on the way home. I had read the previous log the day before, so came armed with some stone paper to add as a log. It was about 9pm and I forgot about the ant infestation comment until my hand became part of the ant infestation. Shook most of them off and added my new log to the one existing, didn't get to work out if the existing log was still damp or not as I was more interested in getting the logs back into the cache container and the container returned to it's position so I could continue de-anting myself. Nice Camo. TN Left new signed log, TFTC Earthbound Chief.
Nice park area. Nice hide. I really liked this one. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC!
GPS had me looking in the wrong area for a while, plus had to wait for some elderly muggles to move along, my acting is not up to scratch for this... once I found the right place, I knew where it was straight away. A lot of ants in the well hidden cache but that didn’t stop me signing the log book. TFTC
Great, clever, sneaky & brilliant. Liked it a lot. Park was quiet, not a muggle in sight.
Lots of annoying ants though.

We did this one over a month ago and are only logging now. This was a tricky one, all of the last logs were correct about the ants. We had our first failed geocache just before this so it was nice to have a win. We were determined.

"International Earthcache Day" - a check for our closest unfound earthcache. Great, just 36kms away! Ahoy me hearties - way across the bay!
Following the Event on the Mordialloc foreshore we ventured along beside the Mordialloc Creek, seeking a few local caches. such as this before heading to Beaumaris Monocline at "low tide." What a popular spot - ants by the thousands!
Thanks to 'Earthbound Chief' for placing this cache on the geo-gameboard.

The offer came from ahomburg to fill a vehicle for a spot of caching after the CITO in Braeside Park, so Jascat, leafotwind and I piled in and headed off for a variety of finds.
"I can see it from here," he said as he parked the car. And so he could.
Ants. So. Many. Ants.
Another very clever Earthbound Chief hide.
I couldn't decide whether to go for Multi March, Mystery May or vice versa. March, as it happened, was a bit of a bust, so I split the difference and am attempting both in April.

Find #9442
Headed out after the Braeside Park CITO event with nirgalagrin, Jascat and leafotwind to find a few caches in the area. and beyond. I needed a trad, a multi and a puzzle for my own personal challenge.
Nice hide here, although the ants were not too happy about it.
Many thanks to Earthbound Chief for the cache. TNLN.

On a bit of an expedition with ahomburg, nirgalagrin and jascat this was one that jascat had already found. As it turned out ahomburg walked right up to it and I dealt with the ants when placing our names in the log and replacing.
Not sure why people thought this was one was tricky.

After a bad start to the day I was very happy to find this one quickly thanks to the spot on co-ords. Cool little park, surprisingly quiet for a warm Sunday. TFTC!
Found on the way home from a park visit in the area. It didn't take long to spot a possible hide. On closer inspection we were correct. Extracting the cache made a hundred ants very angry as their home was removed. With the ants removed and log signed we were soon on our way to another hunt..

A quick find as coords were spot on. Heaps of quick moving ants had taken residence. All good with the cache.

After finishing my deliveries at Aspendale Gardens Shopping Centre, I parked the truck in a side street and decided on a 2½ km walk to knock over a few nearby caches.
Not a great deal of wildlife out at the wetlands but since it is 32° that's understandable.
A few magpies, a flock of pink and grey galahs, some ibis and a couple of different butterflies.
Accurate coordinates brought me directly to GZ.
Having found quite a few hides by this CO *(this being the 37ᵗʰ)* helped me to find the cache in the first place I looked.
Nice one EBC, thank you. [^]
A great little park that I would likely never have found, if not for geocaching.
Took a few photos and headed back to the truck.

Found with robber44 during a break in a nearby junior cricket game.....spent a long time looking in all the wrong places until we made the breakthrough via a PAF. Credit where credit's due cjfinda.......Clever hide. TFTC
GPS had us wandering around, not sure what we were looking for, and if you look for the wrong thing you look in the wrong places. Eventually PAF worked and cache was immediately in hand. Argghh! Not sure it warrants 2.5 terrain rating. TFTC
Having had a DNF on a larger cache 5 minutes previous to this one it was nice to walk up and spot it straight away. Unfortunately disturbed a ton of ants and was nearly surprised from behind by muggles but managed to add my name to the log and return it once they walked on by. TFTC.
Another nice hide located rather quickly but always easy when the area is muggle free
Signed the log and returned as found. Many thanx to Earthbound Chief

Found with pksbrads after like 2 weeks of searching. Felt really stupid when we finally realised the hiding spot.... so obvious...
Quick find in the first place I looked. Log book needs attention, a very tight fit with the old petrified log book.

Log was really tricky to extract - fortunate i came prepared! I have added new log and inserted in plastic - it is a Really snug fit though
Found whilst out riding with 4bait , mark9375 and our newest recruit luctina. Nice hide although a bit antsy!. TFTC
Nice find while out riding with Geogljill-11 and mark9375 and luctina its full of hungry ants but we managed to get it without them eating us TFTC
Easy find, Greeted by hundreds of six legged friends. Thanks. Ingenious hide.
Found tonight with grumpy gramps 1, in the Frankston area tonight to tackle a fairly in touched area. Hoping for double figures tonight. TFTC
Today I needed a find for P366, and I also needed to get out driving to get my hours up. This one provided a good opportunity for a lengthy drive and an unfound cache.
This one had been on my radar for quite a long time, but somehow I never got around to finding it. Approaching GZ I noticed a muggle family walking by but soon enough they disappeared. Soon after the cache was found with ease.
Thanks EBC!

Coordinates were spot on restricting my search. I looked in all the obvious places and was about to leave when something caught my eye. Cache was quickly retrieved and log signed. Love the creativity with this one tftc.
Geochuck found the way and I tracked it down. Great job on the hide. Loved it. Really enjoy your info on the area. TFTC
Good coords made for a restricted search, and the neat hide was soon found. Did a bit of work on the logbook and this one is now all OK.
Out and about with geobrother (andy707) today near the water while it's a nice day. TFTC.
Great, creative hide. I wanted to introduce my friend to geocaching and this was nearby to his house, so it was a perfect opportunity. TFTC!
stopped in after dropping dan around corner nice park very quiet just befor dark nice hide out in open thanks for the fun
Making my way to the Melbourne Mega. Collecting a few caches along the way.
Container covered in ants but still able to sign. Thanks for adding to the enjoying of this trip.

I had a couple of hours spare during the evening, and as I was in the area, checked for some caches to find. With my boy Coops, we headed out and eventually found five caches, this being one of them.
A clever and sneaky hide and luckily found it in the first place I checked. Thanks for the hide.

This week I've been applying a moderately strict "if you can't see it almost immediately, just move on" policy when it comes to micros in open parks. From the direction I entered it was indeed possible to see it almost immediately, so all was fine. Decent camouflage nonetheless! The log could probably use some attention. Thanks Earthbound Chief!
I headed out by myself today for a few hours today to do whatever I came across on my travels.
I spent some time around the Botanical gardens near the city and I haven't been in the Botanical gardens since I was a kid and after a lovely walk around all the inside gardens I came out to tackle whatever was around the area.
After leaving the gardens I drove way down past here and there was plenty of parking in the side street. A couple of guys practicing goal shooting on the footy oval but I spotted the hide straight away (unusual for me) and ducked into the alley out of view to sign the log then quickly returned it.
The ants are still really enjoying the cache as well.
Thanks Earthbound Chief for the cache, the hunt and the fun.

Started a new job this week based in Frankston. Means a little more travel for me but on the upside I'll be driving past a whole new set of caches every day that I haven't previously got to! Stopped by here on my way home and despite a few dog walkers I managed to head towards a likely spot. I guess this just comes with caching experience over time but i weighed it up form a distance and had the chat in hand without any problems. Flicked the ants off before extracting! Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited a few trackables. Thanks for the cache Earthbound Chief.

A nice easy find, as detailed in previous logs the local ants have made a new home.. thanks..!!
Interesting to read the history of the area. This was a good hide except for some 'antsy' friends who had moved in. Bring flyspray! Thanks for the cache.
