Away for the June Long Weekend with TheWhiteDogGang. We based ourselves at Orroroo and travelled far and wide over 4 days. We managed 1,500 kms during our travels. We managed to find some really old caches, one from 2001, and even managed to get all 9 terrain ratings. Not bad for 2 old farts with no coordination. The weather was dry if not cold on occasions.A good way to spend 4 days.A neat hide.TFTC

WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 6 - Morgan to Jamestown via Burra and Hallett. After a fun day around Morgan yesterday, it was time to move on. A very cold night last night. I did a few roadside caches along the way, but I spent most of my caching day around Burra. I have done quite a bit of caching in Burra before, but it was great to see a wonderful collection of caches to be attempted today. I even managed two sets of Labs, including a good walk around the mine site. As I headed over to Jamestown, there were a few caches that drew attention to the huge wind farms on all of these ridge lines. My last cache ended up pretty much being where I stopped to camp for the night. Into town for dinner tonight. As I headed into James town, every ridge and hill had a windmill or two on it, so with these two caches it was nice to get up close to some of the amazing infrastructure. Very ingenious cache container here. Thanks for the cache Hylands546472.17 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2012 Bottle Opener II A#217**Albida**

Always incredible how these massive turbines produce such huge amounts of power. This one was tough to open today

After making my way up to Caroona Creek Comservation Park yesterday and camping the night there my main goal of the day was to make the walk through Tourilie Gorge finding cache with 4.5 years unloved followed by the rest of the day finding caches around the mid north yet to be found before making my way back to Adelaide.

Thanks for the cache

A neat hide in a powerful location.
As mentioned before, the log was jammed inside - in fact it resembled papier mache and was stuck in deep!!! A brnad new log roll actually fitted inside above it - so we've donated one to keep it going for now. Hope that helps!
Fav for the bold little hide Cool

Much appreciation to Hylands5 for hiding this cache on our SA geo map game board Smile

Geocaches are located and logged using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S20+, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck! Please do stay safe when caching.
Lookout for mud, snakes, surprise cliffs, wild goats, wombats, bulldust, and lightning,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins... but especially lookout for bugs. [xx(]

Make sure Travel Bugs are the only bugs you share and pass on Big Grin

We really appreciate all those placing quality caches out and about especially away from the city crowds,
it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting Cool

Geohusband was very interested to read all the wind turbine info boards earlier and was happily reeling off to me how much power is generated here. I was just happy to make the find and get back into the car and on our way. It was bitterly cold up here and the wind was blowing a gale. TFTC nice hide here

Who, but a geocacher, can plan on having dinner in Jamestown at 6.30pm, 120kms from home, and leave 9.30am that morning and get home 7.30pm the following night after travelling 750kms.
We had a great weekend, viewing some great scenery, meeting wonderful people and, of course finding a cache or 2 or 3 or ............
Thank you to those who left a cache for us to find and make the weekend so good.

I immediately made my way to where I thought the cache was but found that it didn't contain anything pertaining to caching. Then made my way to where the GPSr was pointing and after a little hesitation had the cache in hand.
Have to give this cache a favourite point

Nearly 200km from home and 10 days after publishing I scored a FTF here. REally surprising considerin the number of geocaching orienteers in the area for the weekend. THanks for bringing me to part of the unseen infrastrucutre associated withwind farms, this is only the second such installation I've seen.

Thanks for the cache Hylands5. You've earned a fav point for the camo.
