Find # 14621Been a while since I've been out solo for a long trip. But things change over time. And I'm living the past.So with some time off work, I've jumped the border wall to chase down some long trails in South Aussie... don't know how many I'll get. But I've got quite a few downloaded. I do have a short hit list ( of 2) caches to help with a challenge. All others are just for the Adventure and countryside views. Armed with all the necessary TOTT from tweezers and magnet grab to 6m ladder and 8m fishing pole. I believe I'm prepared for all that I'll come across. (Just had to leave the Kayak at home )Day 2. Murray Bridge to Swan Reach, via Nuriootpa to visit Geostuff.Managed to get my hit list, of 2 done today... a few others thrown in. A couple of short sharp trails and the fireman's hat.... then focused on the high Terrain "On your bike" caches west of Swan Reach...TFTC blackcat123

Day 2 of 3. In the area to complete more of the bike series which had been added to since our last visit with the same teams back in April 2021.We completed the bike series, and then moved our attention to the NVRATHM series for Firesafe. This cache was found while in the area, and in good condition. We stamped the log as 'The Mob' to save space and time.'The Mob' this time included:- FurfacesLL, Rapidlywild, feathertop, GoodLook, TheDame, LB, and ourselves.Signed and replaced as found. Many thanks for placing this cache, blackcat123, for us and others to find.

04-Apr-24
Plans were made for the team to get back together to finish the on your bike series and whatever other series peaked our fancy. We organised it to happen after the Canberra Mega and travel in a convoy back to SA, safety in numbers they say. Our convoy consisted of feathertop, GoodLook, LB, Rapidlywild and us then meeting up in Mildura with The Drovers. After a big day on the trails yesterday today we finished off the remaining On your Bike series then we headed onto this NVRATHM series. Logs were all stamped with "The Mob". We had awesome weather for the journey and all caches were found in good order. It was off to Sedan after the trails for some R & R and something to eat before finding more to chase down. Another one we picked up while in Sedan doing the labs. Thanks for the hide blackcar123 and thanks to The Mob for a fun adventure.

04-Apr-24
Plans have been in place for a little while now about a convoy from the Canberra Mega to head over to SA and finish off what currently stands of the On Your Bike series. Today being day 3 of the trip away, todays convoy consisted of GoodLook, TheDame, feathertop, LB, The Drovers, FurfacesLL and myself. With a big hit on the On Your Bike caches yesterday, we set off this morning to hit the remaining On Your Bike caches and then we headed over to the NVRATHM series. All logs have been stamped with "The Mob" stamp representing the 7 teams who started the series together, so finished it together. NVRATHM series completed, so we made our way into Sedan for some lunch. Made the find on this one whilst we were in the area, no issues here. Interesting ruins to admire. Thanks for the cache placement and maintenance blackcat123 Smile and thanks FurfacesLL for another fun trip away Big Grin

quick find while clearing the back roads and surrounds after doing the nearby " helmet " geo art.
All logs where stamped or written as " JAMS " ( JJ52, Allister W, Mogni, and Sir_spectre ) plus Travellinbees for this trip. The target for this trip was to get a wherigo cache on this calendar day for me and do the NVRATHM series ( helmet geoart ). On the way near the geo art there we were driving only 30 kms due to fog and literally the groups of sheep on the road. While doing the geo art the fog lifted and it was cold but dry. After the geo art a nice pub lunch at Sedan was had then we went and found some of the local caches. The roads around Sedan where mostly dry with a few wet patches but able to still drive down them. We found a total of 23 trees down over the road and only 3 that we could drive around, all the rest i had to drag, roll, move off the road. Of those 19 trees, 4 i had to break in to pieces to lessen the weight to get them off the road. This really slowed the find count down and made it I longer than than expected but still a good day out. Over 100 caches found today including 1 adventure lab completed.

05-Jun-23
Day 5 of our initial "grey Nomads" trip heading north for 4 months. We departed Echuca and after completing some Vic LGA's, crossed into SA and headed north to Loxton and now on to Sedan. Just realised we haven't paid for our accommodation at Loxton as they didn't call me back.

Camped nearby, so a quick grab after setting up our van. Day has become &%$(* as we have had a break-in in the shed at the farm - with 2 cars, the security camera recorder and a heap of power tools etc stolen. After arranging help from friends, numerous phone calls and attempting to work out what is missing, we just needed to get out and do something physical to take our minds of the situation.

Spotted quickly before we hit the road again. Thanks for highlighting this history.

Adelaide and South Australia Trip Christmas 2021/2022. Day 17. The next phase of my journey is underway. I was with Fitzy_1965, MinnieK, Sol de Lune and Smitten Granny to attempt to finish the On You Bike where-i-go caches. We have managed to solve them all before we arrived. Day 7 in the River land. As we had accomplished the On your Bike caches, the others headed back east to stop at Mildura for the paddle steamer caches, but I am based in Adelaide at the moment, so could not go. This was my last day up North, and I spent it around Sedan tackling the caches in that region, before heading back to Adelaide stopping for some Labs along the way.

This trip to Loxton had been a year coming as I had missed out last year due to other commitments. The group had increased and the target list of caches was much higher. It had been a group effort to deal with all the jigsaw puzzles and then the Reverse Where-i-gos were sorted out with the various online tools. The trip was looking at risk as the COVID situation stretched and stretched, but at least SA kept to its plans to open the borders and we all jumped through the hoops required to get across the border. The weather was looking extreme as the journey approached and it did not disappoint. The daytime temps were from 36-42 over the days of this exercise and it made for some hard work and lots of water usage.

Thanks for the cache blackcat123

Thanks for adding the history. A nice little place!

This one was quick addition to our plans as we were passing through due to this place looking very interesting, only found one other Lime Kiln cache so it was nice to have a look at this one.

Thanks for the cache.

This was the Mega trip that started out as a simple trip to St Arnaud for just the Mega and turned into a mega road trip starting with myself and GooseandEgg flying into Adelaide to collect a rental 4WD so we could drive an indirect route to St Arnaud and then on to Melbourne so we could fly home again.

The Goose had put a lot of planning into the trip so we could both complete or get close to completing our D/T grids, collect a number of good interesting caches and cache types we didn't have many off.

For me this was the best organised Mega I have been to, the stand out was how the committee had managed to get the whole St Arnaud community to welcome us all to the area, just about everyone we meet knew what we were there for and I had no awkward moments explaining what Geocaching was.

Found on 12/11/2019 at 7:59:00 PM

After a big day, we were heading back to Adelaide but this town looked interesting and made us stop and we ended up turning back to find this cache as it sounded interesting. I wish we could have spent more time doing other caches in town, next time I guess.
Thanks blackcat123

When planning the St Arnaud mega trip I was keen to incorporate some missing D/T’s from my grid. Stainless steel rat suggested flying to Adelaide ‘on the way’ and driving across so a route was planned and a fun week of caching began. I cherry picked in my planning so as not to run out of time for the ones I wanted, and we added a few on the day if there was time. We met up with various teams along the way including a planned rendezvous with Tassie Trekkers in Kaniva for a fun days caching. I ended up with around five hundred finds (including labs) for the week, and still had plenty of time for socializing along the way. It was great to catch up with some old friends and of course make new ones.
Special thanks to the St Arnaud mega committee for a great weekend.

There are so many disused and derelict buildings around the countryside. These building remains have a certain beauty to them and would be able to tell a lot of stories from times past. Many thanks go to blackcat123 for placing this cache.
