A beautiful day for a drive up the Clarence with some spectacular views on the way. Thanks for placing a cache here.
A trip up to get a multi, and to aim for GC5JAA1 as I'm trying to get everyone minute in the South Island, and that is one I'm missing, then a multi after midnight on the way home, as this is my usual weekend. Going by, along the way to Island Saddle, so might as well get a few trads too. No problem with this placement. Really need to come back during daylight!TFTC bumandworker, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 4 find(s) of 7 today, making this find #4942
Easy find this time, can't understand how we missed it last time. We were probably looking for rocks! TFTC.
Chilly start this morning, there was snow on the tops last night - rather unseasonal for Feb, but it warms up once the sun comes up. Loved the walk through the alpine fields of the St James valley and really enjoyed our bike ride. Cache is all good, at least it has a friendly rock inside it. TFTC
Nice and easy, no rocks about thou, love the drive through here thanks for hiding a cache here
We are only having a four day summer holiday this festive season, so we did a bit of a whirlwind trip around the top of the South with a night in Westport, a night at Klondike Corner and a night in Christchurch. This morning started with us attending an event on the New Brighton Pier at 5-45am (that is a miracle in itself). Then it was on the road to travel through the Molesworth Station and Awatere Valley. We were a bit surprised at how many people were in the area, lots of push bikes, motor bikes and four wheel drives, but there were not so many other campervans. Not sure why not as it is a really good road with plenty of room to pull off and pass in most spots. We stopped here for a nice quick find, we are rather chuffed to get another Bumandworker cache to add to our statistics. Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley
Nice to be able to find this despite the snow and the two previous DNFs. A very memorable trip with nzser. Thanks.
Annual mid winter trip to Hamner Springs. Not going to let a little bit of rain, sleet and snow stop us from geocaching. First attempt up Jacks was in the Subaru. I chickened out and headed back due to a lack of chains. Back up in KiwiLegends truck. Stop at the top to fit chains and off we go.
Oh the joy's of caching in the snow. 1 to 2 foot deep around the cache point but a thud from the walking pole lead the way.
TFTC and boy I won't forget this trip.

Had a good search around tge area but no rocks anywhere! it looked as though there had been quite a bit of earthworks using a digger of some sort - lots of tracks! perhaps rocks have been removed?
First of many found during my bike ride of the Molesworth. Parked up in a library to get these all logged. TFTC
The rain has not yet arrived and the ground and plants through up dust at each step. Glad to get this easy one out of the way before any cars go past. tftc
I had intended traveling thru the Molesworth and camping and tramping. But I left it too late in the season and road is locked.
Stumbled about in the long grass till I found.

Decided to head out to lake tennyson and do some walks. Was foggy this morning but has cleared up into a beautiful day.
Tried searching on the way out to the lake but could not find it managed to find it on the way back after only a short search.

found the hint object after a little wander. cold up here today, well probably not too bad as it is mid July but 14 down in town so when I jumped out of my vehicle it was definitely chilly up here. Thanks for the cache B&W
I'm not sure why I haven't found this on earlier trips but getting that sorted today! Stunning day today and several vehicles were parked up in the carpark to the tracks further back obviously making the most of it. Took me longer than iy should have to spot the obvious here! TFTC # 16,927
Day 4 of our 17 day South island Rd trip. We started our trip in Hamilton. Trip meter ticked over 1000 kms today. We left Hanmer Springs this morning to travel as far as we could today into Molesworth Station. We went roughly 60 kms down the rd then returned as we needed to be at our accommodation tonight at Orari in South Canterbury. Elaine always had the goal to travel some way up this rd and today was the day. Beautiful weather for the trip and so many lovely photo stops along the way.
This was my only DNF today. I had downloaded the list for Geocaches along this rd and downloaded offline data for google maps. I got to GZ and I was just going round and around so had to give up as we were on time constraints.

In Hanmer for a week of work, so on my day off I did the Jacks/Jollies loop with a couple of dog-legs. I pulled in here and walked a few metres for a quick easy find, and grab the TB.
On the way back to Hanmer Springs after biking part of the St James Cycleway, I passed the Garmin to Mrs KC to look for a cache on the way back, and this one popped up first. No-one around, so easy whip in, find and log and then out.

Quick find here, thanks, while biking the 25km Jacks-Jollies passes curcuit.
The climb up Jack's Pass was a bit beyond my fitness level, and I had to walk 2 sections. The downhill made up for it.
Dropped off a TB, simply because the container is large enough.

I've been past this one several times in the last few years but never stopped. In June I intended to do so and got the Garmin ready only to realise that we had passed as I was thinking that it was at the saddle. Today I was properly prepared and once parked it was a nice quick find. All in good condition.
Found this Cache on our way from Hanmer Springs to Molesworth Cob Cottage Campground. TFTC
A short getaway to catch up with family on the Mainland and drive some roads not travelled before.

Day 3, end. The curtains had drawn like curtains across the sky and the sun was peeping from underneath as it slipped below the horizon- we were tired, rattled, dusty and hungry, and the cache count between here and Hanmer could be counted on the hand of an amputee. Thus it was crucial we stopped and found this one last cache to cap off what was perhaps the best day of caching either of us had managed in years, perhaps even half a decade. Despite the dying light the cache was surprisingly easy to find. TFTC
We are in Hanmer Springs for a couple of days of geocaching with BusyPaws. We did Jollies Pass and back down Jacks. Found this cache and laughed at the size such a surprise. Thanks for bringing us here and the cache bumandworker.
[#1291 | 18:15] After hiking up to Mt Isobel we drove down to the river for a little refreshment. On the way back to Hanmer we couldn't miss this cache.

Cache number 1 of 3 today, on our trip to Lakes Guyon, Tennyson, and Sedgemere, Island Gully Hut, Hanmer, and Scotties Hut. Caching as a team but Not Manly Jack is in Hanmer now so all logs signed Bo&bronnie + Rincewind3 (or R3 and B&b to save space).
This was a nice quick find to kick us off before heading over Peters Pass to Scotties Hut for the night.

KrystalKath and I have been here a few times... twice en-route through Molesworth, once after staying up at Lake Temnyson, amd recently in Winter to play in the snow, but previously I didn't have the geocache pre-loaded.
Today we made a point of visiting again during a visit to Hanmer Springs for a soak.
Easy find but the matagouri is getting big and making retrieval fun. TFTC

Taking a winter drive from Hanmer Springs over Jacks Pass and on to Lake Tennyson. A fine cold day, the temperature never got over 3 degrees. Still a good day to find geocaches and get out and about, although a few snow flurries here. Circled around a lot trying to find this one. Eventually located under one of many matagouri bushes. No rocks here, but added a couple to match the hint. The contents are in good order and dry. Thanks b&w.
This is the last cache for the day as we travel from the Molesworth camp site to Hanmer Springs. Didn't see any rocks, just a nasty matagouri bush.

Down we go, wee ha. No problems here.

The result: A great fun filled drive, and cache filled haul.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

We have been staying in Hanmer Springs for the last couple of days and we decided to take the cachemobile out for a wander up Jacks and down Jollies Pass today. A beautiful afternoon for the drive, the Clarence River was is full war cry due to the recent snow melt and rain and we had the place to ourselves today. A quick find here, no GC in cache unfortunately but well worth the drive. TFTC B&W [^]
Easter road trip through the moles worth stopped for a quick walk to the cache going round in circles for a while tftc
Driving the Molesworth has been on our bucket list for a while now and with Easter's road closure imminent, we decided this weekend would be a good time to tackle it.
It was grey with low cloud when we left Hanmer, and we had to contend with mist for the first part of our journey along the Clarence. This was our first stop of the day, and we had to trudge through wet grass to get to GZ. My GPSr was not on form today, and took me several metres further than where SW found the cache. Good to start with a nice big one. TFTC.

#15194. First find of the day (and of the trip). Troodles got a head start while I put on shoes better able to keep the water out (in theory at least; my feet were soon wet). Troodles was still looking when I arrived, and I quickly spotted the cache (but no hint objects). TFTC.
Unfortunately there was no smiley here for me today. Had a look on the way up the road and then again on the way back. I know it's a 2 difficulty rating and recently been found but according to our coordinates from 3 devices we were spot on the place but be buggered if we could find the hint item or cache. Do I need another hint... it looks like it. Specksavers here I come.
Hadn't realised that Tophouse is a locality, the Top House accommodation house - and hence this historic route between Canterbury and Nelson is the Tophouse Road! Duh!
Easy find, but the (small) clue object is only visible once you look under the matagouri!

Found with odgersaj on a dreary drive. Well really he found it, I was support crew because it was so freaking cold.
After a flat tyre on the road was a little worried about getting out before dark but needed one more cache for the day. There was time... where the GPS told me GZ was I saw disturbed rocks but did a slightly larger circle of the perimeter and cache in hand. Did a TB swap... two in and two out. TFTC bumandworker
It was that time again... Monday Mad Mission. TG, 8MA and I headed out for a night of adventure. The plan was to head out to Ashburton and score a few random caches between SH1 and the sea south of Ashvegas. When TG picked me up he asked if I had a fresh GPX loaded and I knew exactly what he was thinking as it is now April and our FTF month streak is going strong and the lack of caches being published we both thought of heading out to Hanmer to try our luck at a FTF or two. I didn't need convincing. We headed out and grabbed 8MA on the way. 8MA thethered to my mobile data and downloaded the updated trip plan and we headed out armed with coke and road snacks. It was rainy and misty heading over the pass. It took just over 2 hours to get here and we scored a few FTFs and we stopped by here as we headed out. 8MA had a bit of a hassle here when he looked for it a few months back. We found it in two seconds. It happens to all of us.
Thanks for the cache bumandworker.

What a fun night. What with one thing and another TW and I hadn't been out caching in a while so we decided this evening for our 'Mad Monday Mission' to head Ashburton way to clear out an area of boxes.....but on arriving to pick up TW I tentatively enquired whether he had loaded a new pocket query (I hadn't) and TW cottoned on to my mad idea....so we changed direction and headed for Hanmer (as ya' do) to try for a couple FTFs. Picked up 8Man along the way and he was not too surprised by our small 'change in plans'.......and off in to the dark and rainy night we drove. Low cloud over Jacks pass but a fun drive. Scored a couple FTFs in the area and picked this one up as we drove back out.....8man warned us as we pulled up that this cache took him a while to find...."what; this one here"....TW found it in about 2 seconds flat....in the dark and rain t'boot...ha ha ha....Lovely jubbly. A couple more stops through Hanmer then we boosted to back home to CHCH...320km round trip and home by 1230am.....a nice night ....
First of 8 for the day along the Rainbow Road from Hanmer to St Arnaud. A much more scenic way to get to the Picton ferry than the highway via Murchison. Found quickly with no problems. Signed log, TFTC!
#2,664: Jack's Pass Smiley!
What can I say? Quite a day today. I started out at 9:30am with three friends to ride the St. James Cycle Track. Popped a chain in the first 3 kms, then hit a large rock and rolled over the handlebars, crisping my front wheel after 6 kms. I split with my buddies (they continued on) and I climbed (read: slogged) back up to the pass and glided down back to the car park. Not wanting to head down to Hanmer Springs defeated, I decided I could ride my injured bike out to Lake Tennyson for some nice views, and some caches, before heading home. This took me some time to find. The hint is a little misleading, but persistence paid off!

Team JeJeBu (Injeanious, Jess.daphne and The Burnsy) got together for our first caching mission since I arrived back from my holiday in Latin America. We decided to head to Hanmer for the evening and grab some caches on the way.
We made a quick dash out of the car and braved the wind as we searched the area for the cache. Hmm, no obvious piles, but then I turned around and there it was. Good size. Tftc.

Jojo and I were on our way back from hanmer after a good weekend caching with my sister, her husband and Jed the geodog. We had booked this about 6 months ago, but it had been quite a while since we had slept in a tent so that ended up being a bit of a shock. And the sandflies were just full on. So in the end we were keen to get on the road and this was the chosen route back. A first time for us and it's only been open a few days this season.

Well this took way longer than it should have. Had a predetermined idea of what air was looking for. Turns out I were right but just had a moment of cache blindness.
On a mission as support crew to support my whitewater-rafting workmates as they head to, onto and off the Waiau river with just an inflated pece of rubber and expert guides to assist them. My part of the journey is to travel down to Hanmer Springs by van, overnight, then off to the river the following afternoon to collect the team and bring them home. Sounds simple enough, you'd think.
Unfactored was that the clutch on my van would have a hissy fit and dump some of it's fluid and produce a burning overheating smell along with loss of power as soon as I got onto the Inland Kaikoura route. Nursed it all the way to Hanmer and it got as far as the Hundalees before being towed back yesterday evening. Quite the adventure. In between that though.....there was some caching. Of course.
Onto the next phase of the morning with us vacated the accommodation. Up Jacks and Jollies passes to get the caches. Had a willing driver and another passenger a long so three sets of eyes to search with.
Took a little while to find this one, despite the generous size of the container. Eventually muggle Allister called out and it was all over, red rover

We were up in Hanmer showing family and friends from the UK about. Everyone went their own ways and James my eldest, and I went for a drive. He needs the experience as he is on his learners licence. So off we went. It was a lovely drive. Great scenery. Thanks for the excuse to go up the road.
Girls weekend with daughter! Last year we decided to head out to Molesworth with a suitable vehicle, and now was a good time for it. Saturday was quite hot and muggy. We started caching past Hanmer Springs and wanted to see where we get to. We concentrated on drive-by's with a few shorter lookout walks in the mix. Great time in an amazing area, thanks to all the CO's for their caches to keep us entertained along the way!!!

Out caching for the weekend with mum. She had hired a 4wd for us to be able to attempt getting some caches which we may not be able to otherwise! So we did a quick two day weekend trip to see what and how many we could find.
We drove up to hanmer, and then took the Molesworth route. Fun times, lots of caches, and plenty of other people around every now and then too!
Didn't do that huge a weekend, but had fun, and still got sleep too!

NZDi and I decided to do a trip through the Molesworth today, overnight in Hanmer Springs and return to Blenheim via the Inland Kaikoura Route tomorrow. Of course any unfound caches we came across would gladly be turned into smiley faces. We departed Blenheim at zero dark early (6.15am) and arrived in Hanmer Springs just over 11 hours later and as a result of this trip and one we did back in October, we have cleared all except two caches between Seddon and Hanmer Springs. We didn't have time for dessert today so a couple of ca ches at Pudding Hill will require another trip. if I get a major Lotto win tonight, I can see a helicopter charter in my future.

Having bypassed a couple of caches as we were keen to get to Hanmer and have tea, this was just too tempting. Mrs Sobad needed her new light to confirm one spot was not GZ - and then that another was.
